    Nice! I was there last Sunday, a few days after that Brown Trout stocking and it was dead. I didn’t see one Trout pulled out of there. Nobody was catching any. I fished Miller Cyn and all over Cleghorn. I threw everything at em but to no avail! I think they were spooked and hadn’t settled in yet or they were maybe down deep. I’m going to try again tomorrow, so we’ll see!

    Any advice on this lake since water lever is incredibly low? We were there yesterday and the lake is dry near the buoys in Miller canyon.

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  4 года назад +1

      It can definitely be really tough when they do that... and will be tough again when they raise the water level as fish will need to find the habitat again. It can be kind of risky walking the shoreline when it's that muddy...but any where the water is entering the lake regardless of access will be pretty good. the coves near the outlet towers will obviously have some fish because of the heavy flows leaving the lake. all the food will funnel toward those towers and the trout will want to be there but will be forced to be near shore because of the striper. Shallow coves regardless of Lake condition will be the best bet this time of year. I really like the Sand Beach area to the left of the main Marina. you will have to probably use wader's or some shoes that you don't mind getting really muddy. When they lower the water this much I like the float tube and sit in the channels. I'll be there in the next few days... So stay tuned

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад

      Mark Wright fly fishing is good super early. Olive matuka olive or black wooly bugger gold bead heads. Try Miller Canyon. Past bouy line. 5-10 feet of water or super deep with spoons in Miller. I'd head straight for Cleghorn near the boat ramp. Try that then head to Miller for the day for bigger hold over

      Trout are very safe mainly the ones that they recently planted which are the majority of the fish you would catch. as for the striper it's best to limit them and the catfish out of these lakes they have the most toxins. James Reck it was 2000lbs so I'm guessing the 1/2 to 1lb class with a few 2s. They usually plant decent sized fish at Silverwood because of the stripers.

      ONS reports that they actually stocked Brownies twice in the last couple months. I might need to plan an overnighter up there soon but it's damn expensive to camp there.

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  6 лет назад

      You can disperse camp in the area if you want to, just no "bathrooms" or what have you. If you're interested let me know. There's also camping at Mojave River Forks Campground. That's just down the road from the Silverwood dam.
