Fishing will never be the same without my brother since he passed, we both loved u since we were little kids, ill continue for him for sure
Damn bro so sorry to hear that. Heart goes out to you
@@FishermansLifethanks bro, u were our childhood, keep going!
Love and good luck to you my friend. I hope you catch some good ones for him!
In a few years, maybe a decade grief is hard. You will see the poetry within the sick joke of death; eternal separation. Fishing is exactly the same, as if your brother was still with you (maybe he is out there..) And you’ll see how beautiful that consistency is. In fishing and in life.
Condolences brodie.
ya know what's weird, there are a ton of beginner vids and trout vids on YT but Matts comes out with one and I'm all in lol. It doesn't even matter what you're doing at this point we just love watching you man. Thanks for the content, wish there was a new vid every couple days!
Completely agree lol
Id finish cooking 🍳 then catch fish. You don't want to start a forest fire. 😮
Facts
Been fishing for 20 years and I'm enjoying this video very much, also never ever watched a fishing tutorial before lmao
I agree, man has an aura that makes me wanna share a beer and fish with him
Finally, no one can teach me fishing. Like theres so many rods and lures and types of fish and so many many things. And most youtubers make "begginer guides" on how to catch these giant fishes. Talking as if you already know the basics. THIS IS A BEGGINER VIDEO. Thank you so much...
You just gotta get out there and do it, as much as you can watch videos and have knowledge of it, you'll never learn by not doing it
@j.court05 some of that is true, but you need to buy kit before you go out. If you buy all the wrong stuff (heavy weight rod, 20lb test line, huge lures, etc) you're not gonna catch any fish and waste the money. That's not a fun start for any hobby.
Definitely braided line is better than monofilament. Mono is just cheap. It's great line, but braided casts better and doesn't tangle as easily. If you put a steel leader on it you're all set to fish pretty much anything
Common sense.@@BeckyS
NOT necessarily. If u don't know then u just do not know...@@MurphyTheWise
Im an actual beginner, haven't fished since i was a kid with my grandpa. Im 32 now. This video was incredibly informative and helped me out alot. Thank you 🙏
Almost identical for me right down to age, except it was my uncle.
Honestly, in all my years watching RUclips since 2007 in the Daxflame, nigahiga, Fred days til now, your channel has to be one of if not my absolute favorites. Whats crazy is, I don't even fish, never really have, AND I dont like the taste of fish really, never eat it other than the random sushi day once or twice a year. That must mean its you that I enjoy watching. I hope to be able to meet you one day (Im in NC) because you are such a cool dude, been watching since the beginning. You channel has recently been inspiring me to get out more into nature, so maybe I'll wind up doing my first catch and cook one day, solely dedicated to you :)
This video reminds me why I subscribed in the first place years ago. Hope for more of this!
Been fishing for 40 years, but I just love watching your videos, so the subject doesn't really matter. The scenery and your personality keeps me watching every video you post. Many thanks for another great video.
Takes me back to your OG days when you would fish rivers and streams and do a "catch and cook". Love this version of educating the first timer! Strong work brah!
Cooking everything with a metric ton of butter lol
dude this video was 26 minutes and i absolutely just auto-piloted, the way you *show* and not only tell information is absolutely perfect
It's funny because before I ever started fishing, I would randomly watch some of your catch and cook videos. But now that I've been fishing for a year and watching tons of fishing channels, I've somehow only just now subbed to you 😂 Now that I'm halfway in, this is one of the best crash course intro videos I could imagine! The only big thing I've done differently when spin fishing is to always use a leader lighter than my main line. That has definitely saved me from leaving a lot more line behind in the water with lures that I couldn't retrieve.
I’ve been fishing for 20 years yet I watched this video intently 😂
I usually never comment on the videos. But i just wanted to say i have been watching you since your catch and cook days with your “just a little bit of butter” days. Anyways im so glad your videos are still awesome, exciting, adventurous and yet informative that helps alot. Legit i never went fishing (only camping in forest) i just loved and enjoyed watching your fishing videos. But you and this video will be the reason why i will be going fishing my next long weekend. Much love and respect brother 🫡♥️🙏🏼
I started watching you about 3 years ago maybe more And ive finally went out and got a fishin license and basic Shakespeare rod combo. Today was my second day and didnt know exactly what i was doing but i was doing it. I enjoyed my day even though i didnt catch anything but I learned so much. Thank you for inspiring me to fish and its awesome to see that you dropped a beginners vid around the same time.
Love this video! I’m not a new fisherman but I’m still a novice, so I appreciate getting insight from someone more experienced such as yourself. It would be awesome if you make another video similar to this but on how to start rocking fishing! As always love the videos sending love from SJ!!!
I am so happy you made a vid for beginners fisherman, I love watching your videos but this video makes me motivated to fish myself VS just watching yours videos!. Also I love how you show everything like spool knots and also more importantly saying the risks why
Really makes you feel like you went along on a fishing trip from start to finish; from the stop at the tackle and bait shop, the trip the fishing spot, the set backs, making adjustments, all the way to the cleaning and cooking of the fish. It's more than a tutorial. it's like going fishing with a brother or uncle who's trying to teach you how to fish for the first time.
Vintage Fisherman's Life! I was about to say, "No avocado?", but then it appeared, lol. Thanks for another awesome vid! I've been watching for exactly 5 years now!
Never have I ever had an urge to go trout fishing until now. Always been a saltwater guy, but that just looked so relaxing.
I went camping with friends and just got into trout fishing, this video is epic! Thank you for such a great tutorial
Probably the best informational video on fishing that I’ve seen, watched through the whole video even though I probably didn’t need to haha
Hey Fishermans Life.... I just want to say thank you this video. I am currently in The Active Duty Navy and I always change location so friends are limited to none. I always watch fishing videos like yours and Ace, etc. and I never knew how to do it. I even show my wife your videos and she sees the excitement I get when I talk about fishing. I was up in convict lake near Lake Tahoe and was in envy when I saw fisherman fishing for fresh water lake trout but I always was too scared to ask them. I guess I just need more friends. anyway thanks for the video it makes me want to go out and do it.
Just ask! If they aren’t willing to help, most likely they know nothing.
Honestly, just start off by asking what they're fishing for or if they've had any luck that day. Guarantee you, they'll talk you ear off if you start with that! Lol
I've only been fishing a few years, and teaching myself off youtube. But I've given tips or shared successful bait at the lake with other folks after striking up a chat.
IME, folks online aren't always welcoming. But when I'm out fishing, everyone I've met in person has been really kind and into chatting.
Anything you put out Matt is so informative, as a beginner fisherman makes your wisdom so valuable!!!
Your teeth skills are impeccable!!! 😆
Love your videos bro thanks for putting your time and effort for us we appreciate you so don’t ever think your not apreciated
this was actually super useful. i don't think i've ever spooled a reel with line correctly. i appreciate these beginners guides so much everything from beginning to end.
Amazing dude! I have a small river in my town with trout and chub and this helped me out so much! Thanks to you I even cought my first trout❤!
wooow its been years since ive watched this guy do his thing
my teenage years all i did was work parttime get high as heck off some weed and watch this guy fish
Awesome times
so real
This was a great video for starters! Thanks for changing your content ❤ 🎣
I've watched several of your fishing videos. You're the absolute best fishing content creator. Very well done. Thank you for another video.
Been fishing for 20+ years. But yet here I am watching Matts teach me the stuff I already know😂 love your stuff man. No matter what it is
this is a real guide.. getting blocked by gates is super common and annoying after a long commute..
Such beautiful countryside
Hey man, I have been following you for years. I just want to let you know that I enjoy your catcg n cook videos and you had me start fishing! Thank you!
Been watching your videos for a couple years and finally started fishing 2024! Caught 2 leopard sharks in the bay so far
This is exactly how I do it. And I only stick with Panther Martin spinners. The only one that has caught me trout. Have used snap swivel and without. I’ll go either way. Depending on my mood. A good friend taught me exactly what you’re teaching us. Man I miss the central valley. SoCal is horrible. Thanks for this great video and you have a very vibe sir. 👍🏾. And you do not need expensive equipment. I like the Ugly Stik.
I want you to know how much I appreciate this. I wanted to get into fishing for a while now.
Truest words I’ve heard lol “Once you start fishing, it might be really hard to stop”
Great video to get started! Although I like all the survival stuff, it is nice to see you fishing again. Beautiful river. Beautiful day. Nothing like being outdoors on a nice day.
I wish I saw this when I was getting into it it’s the best beginner vid there is
There’s so much joy I get from watching this videos, all the while waiting patiently for my next fishing day like a true Fisherman’s Life thanks Matt 🙏.
Such a good video! I love all the explanations why you chose the gear, the spots, how you fish and the eating hahhahah. Amazing video, got a sub!
Fisherman’s life back with more beginner friendly videos? Feels like the good days
You are an extremely talented teacher. Your RUclips videos are why I started watching catch clean and cook videos about 4 yrs ago and I simply can't get enough of them. I think you inspired a lot of people to do RUclips fishing videos in the past...eg. outdoor chef life. I really miss the types of videos you did when you first started posting. Please don't stop as that is your calling from God. Trust me, you have such a pleasant voice and you are meant for tv. May the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your family with many blessings now and in the future. Thanks for your hard work...I know it's not easy and fishing is very expensive.
Love this video! I have been fishing a long time but I enjoyed this because you can always pick something up. Thank you for the upload and your time.
What an incredible video...been watching for years but this might actually get me to go out and actually fish for the first time!
Thanks for the video, very informative and enjoyable to watch!
Fishing guide 101 😅 love it! Matt, it doesn’t matter the type of fishing you do as long as you’re fishing 🎣
Great editing style, well spoken.
Good stuff bro I’ll watch as long as you keep going!
I just started fly fishing and I’m sure you have some good knowledge on your channel.
Thank you so much for the video. Haven't fished regularly since i was a young child, and now am planning to take my son fishing regularly soon since we moved to an area with various creeks and rivers at high elevation nearby
Thank you so much for this lesson. My 2 boys and I have watched your channel for over a year now and learned a lot, but this video on the basics was good enough my 4 and 5yr old could follow along and repeat after you. Once the season opens up for us next weekend were going fishing for the 2nd time ever. Thanks to you 😀
Always great content, Matts! Your freshwater fishing videos are my favorites.
I'm not a fisherman but i love watching your videos and this was great! You covered all the steps so i actually understood
My kid wants to go fishing and I don’t know how, thank you so much, now I have at least a place to start to learn with him.
I wish i seen your video a week ago, couldn't catch one to save my life and bought myself a fly fishing rode, thank you for all the information.
Irs afternoon in Cape Town South Africa, going to try now
They have trout in South Africa?
I was looking for a video on how to get into this again and you bought the same lures my dad use to use in the 80's. Worked for us! Thanks mang.
Great presentation, informative and entertaining, thanks!
Appreciate the beginner tips... I need as many as I can get 😂 Been spending all my time in the bay lately but hope to make it up to the mountains for some different kinds of adventures soon!
Those black fury mepps spinners are my absolute favorite, I saw you pick that and started smiling. Great choice! 👍🏻
Great Vid.! I’ve been wanting to hit some of the local rivers for some wild trout myself. Excellent information and easy techniques to follow.
Just a quick advice man! Mountain vlogs were the ones that made you viral and famous. Keep doing the out on the woods vlogs. I personally always wait for this kind of vlogs bro. Just being honest I don’t watch your ocean vlogs cuz they r just boring out there in the ocean but anytime you post a vlog in the mountains I go ahead and watch it in full. Please keep doing them much. Keep up the good work buddy
Best beginner fishing guide out there. Great work man and thank you!
Nice sharing Vidio.. very inspiring and useful.. always succses friend.. greeting from Indonesian traditonal gold prospecting 🇮🇩😮❤
👏🏼
Been watching since 2018 binged all your catch and cooks and just now getting into fishing because of yah caught 4 bass so far 💪💪
Going To Kirch Flat this weekend bro‼️ Wish me luck❗️🤞🏼haha
👍🏾 on that snap swivel idea at the end😉
Love this basics of how you do what you do, Matts. I'm not a fisherman so it's interesting to see your thought processes.
If you use fluorocarbon I recommend putting the spool(just the spool) in warm/hot water for about 10 minutes to give the line some new “memory”. Monofilament is great for using bait with a fluorocarbon leader. Mono doesn’t have a sink rate like fluorocarbon does so you’re less likely to have snags.
Try adding reflective beads above the swivel!!!! It has to refract light. I put one above my swivel and attach a lead with a size 8 hook(eagle claw snell). I usually use power bait with it, the color depends on the time of day. I find a place with some calm water and cast it out there. Great way to catch trout!!
Sick video man! I’m trying to learn how to fish and your videos make it seem easier than it is. Can’t wait to catch my own fish and cook it on the spot. You got a new sub bro 👍🏾
Love it how Matt explained the line twisted due to the spinner cause without the snap swivel.
As soon as I saw him tie a spinner without any kind of swivel, I thought, good luck with that line twist.
I'm glad cali allows you to open -carry your water bottle. Definitely a step closer. 🤣
Cool video! Score several lines on each side of the trout with your knife to keep it from curling in the pan.
Nicely done Matt! Really clear easy to understand tutorial and is fun to watch. You actually covered a lot of bases. Nice editing too.
Dude I missed your channel bro. Finally found it !! ❤🎉
Wow.. really nice instructions/guidance... thanks from india
Great video! Make sure to use a swivel with spinners always.
Thanks for all you do to entertain us 😊
I think it’s time for an overlanding pickup truck. Would be a dope series on this channel.
Very informative brotha. Still haven’t caught one yet, all advice helps
Been watching you for years. Thanks for the content 🙌🏾
I hope things are going well for you bro ❤ I love your videos, remember to take care of your health and mental state. Best of luck brother 🐟
Fish on baby! Fishing season is open, I can't wait to get up into the mountains like this.
Dude this is an awesome video and experience! Thanks for the tips
Just got my liscence and will be playing this video again lol
Fantastic film for beginners, and enjoyable for everyone else!
Yo I ain't watched your vids for 3 years. Was a real secret subber and enjoyed this like an old dog coming home to its pack!
Bring back the OG catch and cook videos Matt this really reminds me of those
Fantastic video!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I would love to see you out here in the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains catching some Rainbows 😁
Great tip on wetting your hand hand before handling the fish before handling . Myself i learned from Canadian Sportfishing with Italo and the other guy . Fish are going to appreciate the gesture even fish with scales .
Great vid Matt! I really enjoyed it. It’s how simple you kept it, reminds me of your earlier content.
It’s funny seeing this because I used to watch the same videos about 6-8 years ago but matt posted this one so I’m watching another one today
Awesome tutorial man. Would love to see the same tutorial, but with the fly rod. 👍
Thanks man way to demonstrate how to get out there! Gonna get back into fishing this season and this was a great way to start!!!!
loving your content since the start, I hope one day I'll be able to come to the US and we can shoot a video together, that would be a dream come true! keep it up my bro! 🎣💯
Rooster tail w a gold swivel I always use. Always hit. Bait kaster all chrome hits good too. So noobs need to know what kind of hooks are allowed. Each river has its own set. No snelled and no treble hooks. The fish and game in ca are so strict especially in small creeks in small mountain towns. Just looking out!
man this video made me feel good inside
this is great! I'm passing this along to a co-worker who wants to get started in fishing :)
Wow found your channel just right now and I like it , your are very communicative and clear in your point that you’r communicating. Thank you for the information. Greetings from Toronto, Canada.
matt is back w the how to! lets go, im ready to watch
