  • Headed up high in the Sierras only to discover some bad news. Ended up catching some of the most effective bait I've ever used! Caught a beautiful trout and cooked it inside a makeshift rock oven.

    Great video Matt, I don’t think people really understand what goes on behind the scenes as a videographer. The angles, different shots, continuity, etc…Just know it’s always appreciated when I watch your videos 🙌🏾

      I was going to text him the same technique. Walking thru some of those mountain meadows when they are active and swishing the net back and forth and having enough bait for a week. Good times. That was a long sentence. I'm sure the wifey is going to bonk me on the head.😂😂😂❤

    I love river fishing, it’s FAR better than lake fishing in my opinion unless you’ve got a boat and LOTS of time. The thrill of casting into the tail of a waterfall and feeling that rod shake, or the even better SLAM! of he rod pulling down is just AWESOME!! And with the river you really don’t know what’s going to be on the end of your hook. Might be a rainbow, a brook trout, or a brown, but it’s gonna be good lol.

    Watching this video Matts brought back so much memories of when I was stationed in Germany. I fished a lot creek, stream, and rivers catching brown trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout all native no stocked. I joined the local Rod & Gun club and entered some fishing tournament. Made alot of great friends anyways stay safe out there and have a blessed day. Aloha from Kansas

    River fishing is the way to go if you dont have a boat. I can walk 20ft and theres a different hole i can fish. High elevation rivers are even better since they take a good hike to get to most of them. Been a long time lurker of this channel but hearing you like and have more knowledge on river fishing got me to subsribe finally. Keep up the awesome content my friend 🤙

    Very informative videos & you are living the LIFE with your great videos. My “only recommendation”is rather than reaching into the rock caverns & crevices that you might have a bad rattlesnake without any issues to the snake’s actual length but have you in a safe spot rather than SOL!!!

    Wow, an open charcoal fire in a fire prone drainage with thousands of homes, people, wildlife, historical sites and the watershed itself above it.
    Almost this exact month and Date in 2013, the Darby fire was started within 100’ of that charcoal fire. Thousands of acres burned. 2 ancient Mi Wuk round houses burned, the watershed was nuked all because someone had a fire in that exact same spot.

      @jjulyans 5 месяцев назад

      @@OffBrandGolf you are correct. Can’t even blame my mistake on a typo. Sad part is, I have reached out to Matt about the use of fire before.
      The day before his video dropped a fire started by the plant. Thankfully it started early or we would still be watching it.
      I try not to give specifics of the area, don’t want it to be destroyed like other spots in our area.

    Hey Matt. I dont know if you will see this. I met you at your block party to talk about that river where you caught your PB trout. I also recognize this location... the creek only runs for maybe 3 months of the year and even then the fish are tiny (like 6 inch brookies max). The lakes however - some are fantastic, I caught 100 fish in a day though it is hit or miss depending on the lake - I could recommended some good ones.

    8:00 that's a Sacramento Pikeminnow. Technically native to California but have become locally invasive in a lot of California rivers and streams where they previously were not known to live in. They're super bad for trout and salmon populations and are voracious predators which eat salmon/trout eggs and fry.
