ALREADY KNOW THIS GONNA BE A BANGER TIP VIDEO
Not if your back up is the kiddy pond gotta think outside the box
Another important lesson to be learned from this video is this: even seasoned trout fishers like Jordan sometimes get skunked. Don't take it personal, learn and keep trying!
Lol, if these videos teach anything it’s that everyone gets skunked often.
I'd rather get skunked than have to work!
i know some viewers prob hate that they watch a video with no catches in it, but I enjoy that this channel does not make a perfectly edited video of them just catching fish back to back. Sometimes when I watch other fishing videos and its always catching fish, I feel really sad when I get skunked. In truth getting skunked is very common from my understanding and there is a saying in Turkish for hunting that goes: "For nine days you will get sole meat, for 1 day you will get wild-caught meat". It is really hard to translate without it sounding stupid in English but it basically means that a hunter will spend 9 out of 10 days constantly walking, spending time on his feet looking for a prey to no avail, eventually having to "eat" the bottom of his feet since it gets all swollen and tender from constantly being on your feet. It just refers to the challenge of hunting, and it is not easy, you need to work for it.
That’s why they call it fishin and not catchin yall.
Jordan you're like the coolest dude on the internet... the amount of detail in your instruction is awesome and you you do it with ZERO amount of douche-ness. I love these videos.
I’ll tell you what I’ve learned in 14 years of trout fishing K trout are just either hittin or they ain’t and it’s all about that flouro and the ammount of beers you drink if your gonna have a good time or not
you’re*

this is the absolute perfect video for beginners like me.
For a young buck just getting into trout fishing, this is very helpful, awesome video dude !
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos I’d homely say you took me from a fishermen going to catch no fish and thanks to you I normally catch at least 2 I followed your videos to a tee and to my surprise worked!!! Keep it up my guy
That is awesome! Thanks for watching!
You taught me a great deal through the years.
Thank you.
Not new to fishing but very new to trout fishing. I only caught my first trout a few days ago on a trip up north. (I live in texas) they will be stocking trout in a nearby pond today and i have all three set ups tied up. Hopefully I get some!
How did you do that day? How are you enjoying the trout fishing? This is my first year trout fishing and it is rough...
@@Sharp_Spoon i got one bite haha
Always love brushing up on the basics. Let’s go ADX! 🤘🏼🔥🎣
These videos are simply THE BEST! Thank you addicted fishing.
couple things you brushed over. No matter what line you have on your reel, always use lighter line for the leader so it breaks off first and you don't lose everything. Another thing, when you are fishing on the bottom with floating power bait, i like to leave some slack in the line unless its windy so it bows downwards, especially if you are using a sliding sinker (which is free to slide along the line). this lets the fish take and drop the bait multiple times. If its windy, i like to keep it tighter, and if they bite you lose the tension and you know you got hit and to pay attention.
when you cast, leave the bail OPEN until the weight is on the bottom, you get the farthest possible cast and it sinks straight down. When you tighten, avoid dragging the weight on the bottom unless thats a way to attract fish as it creates movement, i have had lots of bites right after giving it a pull. when you drag the weight on the bottom, its the perfect way to get snagged up on a rock or whatever.
Great tips, Dennis!
There are a ton of extra tips when it comes to these techniques but you can't and wouldn't want to cover all that nuance in a video like this.
Also, leaving the bail open can cause the leader to twirl and tangle around your mainline. With a tight mainline to a sinking egg weight it keeps your mainline out of the way.
Great video. Keep sharing the joy and fun of fishing and the outdoors!
That last few seconds, you could just see the sheer excitement on your face! That's what fishing is all about.
I appreciate this video for many reasons but for the main reason, you show that not every cast you will get a fish you show the nitty gritty and the process that sets expectations for new fishermen. Thanks so much for this I really enjoyed and I started last year and am excited to get on the lake this season again. I want to get good enough for fly fishing and try ice fishing but I want to get down the basics first.
Thanks for the info 💗 Decided to learn to trout fish after having fresh mountain trout last weekend (pisgah forest in the blueridge mountains western NC). It was just amazing and water quality here is amazing 🤩 🐟
Great idea you guys. Time to prep for trout, it's never too early.
As always, very informative vid. Thanks guys.
The video I been waiting to see from someone thank you 😊 so much brother tight lines to you and everyone else 🎣
Im in my Late 30s going fishing for the 1st time ever this weekend with couple friends. Ive Watched tons a videos on tips and tricks b 1:45 but this one really spoke out to me, simple explanations. Straight forward. Just subcribed to the channel. Looking forward to learning more!
Thank you for this video brother! This gives me some great ideas for other fish in the area I frequent!
My dude, I haven't fished since I was a kid and my 8 year old has shown interest. I had no idea where to start and this video is exactly what I needed! Thanks so much for putting this together, SUPER helpful!!!
Jordan thanks for sharing the basic to trout fishing and showing that you don't need to spend a fortune to trout fish. Great video for beginners.
Great video for the newbies Jordan.
I’ve been using Shakespeare basically my whole 42yrs people say they’re crud but I’ve had rods and reels for 20+ yrs still work like brand new. I’ve used other brands as well it all depends on what you’re fishing and where you’re fishing!
Fishing my whole damn life and I still love watching this super beginner stuff. As always, love your content
Great info. Thanks.
That little flick of any lure is very effective, great advice I do that with every lure I use and for every fish I fish for great video
Thanks for showing this video even if you didn't catch those trout
Thanks for the tips Jordan! Got a cart full of goodies now with your help 😁
Probably one of my favorite videos
Thanks Jordan keep bringing brutha🤘
Thankyou bro your fishing vidios help a lot I'm a beginer so it helps me to start and I love the stay fishy adventures vidios and these I live in washington bro
It is so overwhelming 😓 love this video! I had to subscribe
Great video I was just wondering what you would suggest for the main line you went over the leader just missed the main thanks :)
Thank you for your videos, great refreshers for us old dogs, lol.
Time to take my Dad trout fishing and show off what I learned!
These are all really good methods mentioned in this video. Another thing that can help is research your area a bit and learn the waters close to you. As an example my state has four trout parks and each one is very different from the others, but they all have methods that will work well and some overlap. And one of the big things is always remember just have fun and pass it on.
Wouldn't be an Addicted tutorial if they caught a fish! JK, learned to fish from these guys, the best beginner tutorials on RUclips bar NONE
Brother this is good stuff. I wish I would have come across your page a year ago. Thanks for the awesome content. Your insight is great and easy to follow.
Great start to finish. Jordan's forgotten item of the week addicted trout sent.
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
Trying may not be successful but not trying will inevitably fail❤😍🌹💝🎉
I'm close to your area, and have fished there since I was a kid. I'm 53 now.
Love your video's, slowly watching through them all. I noticed you recommended the Celilo rod previously and in this vid recommended the SST. Looks like an updated version?
Anyway, so far I haven't been able to find an SST in light power moderate action in a 7-6". OR do you recommend UL? Looks like your using a 1 pc? Can you send a link or maybe include it in the links for products below your vids?
Thanks for everything, really enjoying your work and just found your Stay Fishy channel. Way cool!
Thank you Jordan and little until next time my friend
My favorite sre panther Martin gold blades. Any of them. I love the gold rooster tail one
It was awesome getting to meet marlin and Mike today while picking up my order and seeing the warehouse and everything you guys have going on. Keep it up fellas!! 🎣 🐟
Yes you the man
Man this is a banger
Looking healthy brother! Love your content!!
Power Bait with Garlic is the ticket:)
Don't overlook Shakespeare! Their Micros Series and Excursion graphite rods are outstanding paired with a good reel. I use the 7ft Light action in the Micro Series rod (nicknamed it the 'My little Trout Buster") paired with a Lews Laser Lite Speed Spin 75 spooled with 10 lb braid. I caught a 4 + pound, 18-20 inch channel catfish on it back in September, it handled it like a champ. I know that rod won't have any issues should I hook up with a big trout this winter. Great video, Jordan! Tight lines everyone!
I'm a big fan of your show. I live in Rapid City SD area lots of great Trout and some bass.
6 is.. if I club online spinners, spoons, or crank baits to a clip swivel, would it affect the action for good bad or ugly?
another gem of a video. informative! most appreciative. aaaand, a w*lmart where nothing is locked up behind glass, imagine that!
You need to do winter fishing at the reservoir
I find the berkley gulp alive crickets and berkley gulp alive pinched crawlers work really well for trout and panfish. And since I tend to use circle hooks exclusively the fact that berkley gulp alive products are scented tends to work out perfectly.
Fish on addicts!!!!!
Give it the old diamond squeeze 🙌🏻🙏🏻
You need to make a trip to Arizona to the white mountain apache rez and try some apache trout fishing.
This is good stuff for beginners. It took me about a year to learn this. There is more going on behind the scenes that you are not telling us. Where do you put the weight? I missed that.
On your Website for Trout Fishing 101, you have a 6' 6" listed as the Preferred Rod Length, but in the Video, you're recommending a 7' 6" Rod - In your Opinion what is the better length for a rod when it comes to Trout Fishing from a Float Pontoon on a Narrow River?
Slip sinker rig with powerbait or worm/marshmallow, float and worm, and size 1 spinner covers lots of bases.
Love trolling with dodgers, cut plugs and wigglers :)
I'm in California, what type of braided line and pound test do you use for lake trout?
excellent video for beginners Right on the money if you dont catch a trout with what he has shown find a new hobby lol. And I liked how you could see the 2 pack of thill slip floats in the background when you were picking the float. And you shamelesly inserted your favourite addicted weighted float well played sir.
This guy is awsome super informative chill and knows his sh$&.
Can you do this same thing but for steelhead! Or trout in rivers!
Could you please tell me what is the best time to fish trout with powerbait under low temperature conditions in winter, morning, noon or evening?
The wall mart we go to in canada , dosent have that good of a selection , thin canadian tire has better hooks... but gotta travel to shop for hooks, cool anyways enjoy watching trout video's...
With the power bait setup, I didn't see the actual setup. Is it just line from your reel and tie on the hook?
I'm envious of your Walmart fishing section. Ours is half that size, doesn't have any rods lighter than medium light, and doesn't even have Powerbait.
Looks like those tips work great! 😂
Do you use braided line for ur main line?
Oh yeah, let’s go
When I'm fishing with kids and beginners I like to set them up with bait and I use a spinner to attract the fish to their bait.
Nice video Mario Batali
What state are you shopping in? Here in California those prices were prob in the 90's
What hook & size was being used with the power baits?
Part II 😁 A Hey Jor,,,, Where you goin with that rod in your hand? ( Doo Doo Doo dah do Dah Dumm) 🎸
Do you have a start to finish columbia river sturgeon tutorial?
No, but we can definitely make one!
Can you try this for king salmon
Jordan once the power bait is opened how long can you use it? Does it expire?
If you store it out of direct sun and excessive heat I bet it lasts forever. I only use power bait (dough) once or twice a year but the jar I have right now I've had for maybe 13-14 years and it caught 20 trout this summer.
@@michaelsaks3610 Thanks Michael
,
Yes those panthers are it and always will be
I'm struggling . I'm 45 grown up in Sacramento area CA . Dad always did things tried to observe every chance I got. Puter Creek is creek as kid spent most our time. But all rules now 😔 so a dad now trying get son first trout his 14 , and gas prices I've tried a city ponds and miany trips to Collins lake but all my gear ultra light w lite lbs line.
My weight not heavy cause small creeks. Need help . Just went out yesterday with my uncle more experienced river fisherman and no success. Seen a guy pull out full stringer and I just hoping for one or two . We bank fishing evening starting to think of bass striper that I haven't before I have one mid heavy action with I think 6 lb line or eight line
Ever used leader before think just need 101 help
Question: do you get skunked? I catch every 4 or 5 times I go out on the water.
But I hate not catching anything and thinking the trip was a waste 😒
also in fishing with power bait i use a slide sinker 1/4 oz, once the line is out i use a round bobber with a swival on the bobber , and place it on the line usually between the bottom eye to the next eye up, and pull down the slack, when the fish bites the bait, the bobber slaps the rod , setting the hook in the fishes mouth, this is called LAZY MAN FISHING, and please invest in a ground rod holder? leaning the rod of to the side of the ramp is a no go, why? i ve seen big fish bite the line and drag the rod and reel into the water, 3.00 for rod holder. coil holder.
love the channel and very informative videos. however i just watched 5 videos and not a single fish caught 😂
Shout out to that strategically placed chartreuse and purple sink it series jig in the mess of roostertail spinners
I know you probably won’t see this but it’s a shot
In your trout videos you have a priece that holds your power bait inside of it what is that piece called
Stockers are finicky here in MO got nothing 2 days in a row
Fun fact chartreuse powerbait also catches the living heck out of flounders as well
Do live crickets work for stocked trout in a pond or lake?
They sure can. Really depends on the water and tactics you are using, but crickets definitely can catch trout
@@michaelsaks3610 have you ever used them in a pond or lake? For stocker trout
I've only used them in streams. But if you can get one in front of the trout in sure you could catch a pond stocker with it. Might not be the most effective bait, but they would catch some. Worms always work great for stockers if you can buy or dig some...
🔥
I get skunked eveey now and then, it doesnt bother me at all, because its spots Im exploring, and sometimes those spots - where no one is and have to machete bushes and shrubs has produced some of my pb fish on many of fish species in North America
Wish I was up at kress this day
Or horseshoe
Cress then horseshoe lake?
Hook up baits ! ! ! Or keep jigging that powerbait
Pay attention to the fast motion of this video. Get on your phone. Police the grounds. Look for left behind but still usable tackle. My experience tells me that trout will hit when you're doing something else. Then it's game on.
Switching sides of the lake or switching lakes? Lol coming from a local
