My wife and I have lived in a rural area for almost 40 years now. It's been a lot of work over the years and my wife has always been there and willing to help shovel gravel, dig water lines and LP lines, drag & burn brush, pour concrete, pack grease into wheel bearings by hand, set fence posts & stretch fences, hand me tools and anything else I've needed help with. A wife who's not only willing but wants to help with chores around the homestead makes the sometimes difficult life so much easier and as the saying goes, "Teamwork makes the dream work".
Ok Riley, I’m a chef and your choice in bbq grill it great. Get that replacement igniter before two year is over. I have a challenge for you. Build/weld your own bbq/smoker for the deck setup. You’ll be happy you did.
Since your able to do the fabrication yourselves, you should do a swing gate at the top of those stairs (assuming you haven't already planned to). That way you don't have to worry about baby attempting the stairs on their own, and you can let the dogs out there without worrying about them going downstairs unless you want them to.
Make sure all your steel posts and rails have holes to drain condensation out. They will fill with water over time and the frost will split them like a banana. I know because this happened to me after a couple winters. Sorry I didn't think to mention it earlier.
@@AmbitionStrikes we are waiting for the heavy equipment sir 😍 and don’t forget about the cnc plasma cutting machine we need full episode just for it please 🙏 🫶

You guys are definitely next level project managers! I never cease to be amazed at your projects and how well they turn out. Riley, that welding and welding jig are genius. What a time saver that was, including the jig for the chop saw to cut the verticals so efficently. And Courtney, you drive that skid stear like you were born in it. I wish you would give me lessons on how to use one so easily. And I have to say thank you from Boone. Those pads on the staircase to protect his feet are greatly appreciated. And he knows they are there and to use them. That was so cool to watch. Thank you again for another great video and project completed. We never get tired of watching you guys.
Agree 100%! Fabrication skills are amazing. Work ethic is amazing. Courtney's driving skills and video editing skills are fantastic! Can't wait to see your next video. Boone is definitely a quick study on how to use those stair pads.
When you put the roof on the deck, I would recommend that it not be connected to the main roof. A grill fire would be catastrophic if it got into the rest of the structure. I've been on that call more than once. Also pick up a grill mat so you don't make a mess on your new deck. Happy grilling!
My mom always said it's OK to talk to yourself... as long as you don't answer back. It's OK, Riley... I'm the same way. When working on stuff it's good to have your ears hear what your mind is thinking. Sometimes... listening to yourself helps you find flaws in your process.
There is a paint called POR 15 that is amazing stuff. It's made for metal and will never rust. The finish will fade eventually but will not rust. The color black will melt into the background and the railing view will be very transparent. You will not be a slave to yearly painting of that beautiful deck. As always, you guys rock. Good luck with the new baby, your in for a real treat and tremendous joy.

Good Man! 4" clear... I figured you would have researched that! That dimension was reduced from 6" to 4" specifically because kids were getting their heads stuck in between balcony vertical railings.
Since most of the railing and the posts are metal, either paint e'm or add a lightening rod by the home and attach wire to the post.. Earthing the connection so no one gets zapped accidently.
Your opening made me into a bowl of mush Courtney! Big sentimental tears out of nowhere... well not nowhere, but this is about you :) so THANK YOU for being a sweet daughter AND a good mama-in-waiting, it's so nice to watch. Greetings, Jon and I send our best wishes for an awesome weekend. The deck looks like a great place to relax!
I hadn't considered NOT tying the house side of the railings to the house... When Riley explained the anchor point on the vertical steel pole was more than ample, I got it. Any flex or movement by the deck won't pull or push against the siding and it's safe. I also echo some kind of spring-loaded gate that keeps the family members exactly where they are the safest. Perfect! You guys ROCK! Thanks for a great vid, Be well, be safe!
You guys have addicted me. I have watched almost every video ( some multiple times) and wait with anticipation every week. Your enthusiasm, adventurous spirits, and empathy for each other are infectious. Now almost 83, I reflect on memories and projects in my past that fit my own place and style. I appreciate the sense of satisfaction at project completions under less than ideal circumstances. Your smiles, mutual admiration, and respect are especially admirable. Thank you for documenting your adventures.
Riley's enthusiasm is so great when he says "I own a deck...with a BARBACUE!" The railings change the look of the whole place, in a good way. Very integrated, nice design. Well done, guys!
Like your mom, I am glad that the deck is now a safe space for everyone. I didn't think I would like the rebar on the decking but it is perfect. Those falling rocks are a doozy! I see more dirt pushing in the future ( I can't wait). Great scene and a clear day. Thank you for sharing with us. Courtney, you are looking radiant.
The railings are a great and overdue idea. I sympathize with your dog and the knee surgery, I had shoulder surgery on Thursday, and it is really starting to get to me. Though maybe it is the pain meds that are not helping! I tried to cut down today, but at least seeing you work so well as a team helps me to unwind and feel more comfortable and relaxed. I said it before, but it can be justified again, Courtney, your touch on the machines is second to none.
I commented on the last video how the dogs would be unwilling to use the stairs because the tread was too aggressive for their paws. Im glad to see you fixed it so quickly.
Another really great video! Thanks! I strongly suggest that you drill weep holes on the underside of the rails. It's difficult to believe, but water will likely get into the rails. Come winter, it will freeze and bulge or even tear the steel in the rails. This happened to the first fence I built using square steel tubing. I don't have photos at hand, but I can get some if you need to see for yourself. For subsequent fences, I drilled 1/8" weep holes about every third spindle (ca. one foot or 30 cm on center). To make the job easier, center punch the upper rail. For the lower rail, I would consider using a C-clamp with a 'puck' that has a sharp point (e.g., cut a half inch 12 mm slice of your spindle material, drill a hole the same diameter as a piece of hard steel, about 3/16" / 4.8 mm, sharpen a point on the hard steel, tighten the C-clamp with the puck in place to create a dimple to start the drill). I like double ended, stubby drill bits sold by Malco as used by tin knockers (I did a tin knocker's apprenticeship during high school college, and grad school). A package of 12 is available from SupplyHouse com for $24.99. The lower rail will likely require a right angle drill or attachment. I hope this helps!
Courtney and Riley, great job on the deck and railings. Glad to see the puppies protective covering on the stairs. I hope you check it weekly, as those stairs will cut thru everything. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for baby.

Impressive addition! I've not followed you from the start but have come on fairly recently so I may have missed your plans for future additions. I may have a bit of experience that can be of benefit. I bought a house a bit over 30 years ago from an older couple and got a great deal on the purchase for one reason. It was a tri-level house and they had reached an age where stairs were not their friend. Didn't matter to me and my wife because we were young and not concerned about it. At my present age of 78 I can tell you stairs are a real concern. Not only for pregnant mommies but for kids and elderly home owners. If you haven't already planned for it you might want to include a lift of some kind to your deck plan. Trust me if you stay there long enough you will benefit from having it.
I always love to see how Courtney is loving to operate all the machines. Why is it so rare to see that? In old times in Eastern Germany (they were always short staff) very many jobs operating machines were done by women - not so heavy work but skills and patience needed.
Absolutely awesome deck build Riley & Courtney , the rebar makes a nice rustic look to the railing. Now with the way that you two operate machinery that landslide doesn't stand a chance what with Riley on the dozer and Courtney in the Mini Ex , superb operators and superb Millwrights I might add.
I love the Beef! I also could not believe how high the skid steer was able to lift the railing. Looks beautiful! Also noticed the pads on the steps for the dogs. Great idea!
you two are Amazing, this has become one of my favorite youtube channels. Love how you both have your specific places and talents.. A True partnership.. you'll make great parents.
Due to weather in the tropics= LOTS of rain, we make those railings out of galvanized steel. It cuts maintenance almost to 100%. Mine are over 20 years old, no rust, just Rust-Oleum paint every 5 years. On the welds we use cold galvanizing spray and oil based paint. For those short ends you could add vertical pieces, the same width and bolt them to the floor. Not only add a little more strength but complete the finish.
Keep up on the videos guys, we all love to see an support you! You do great work, plus it’s great to see you smile while you do it! Always look forward to the videos every Sunday!
Waiting for railing of the stairs and the tiny gate to prevent wild animals to enter to deck. Also please paint those steels, especially garage door. Black or grey would be perfect. You guys always making me enjoy your videos. Keep it up! Well done! 🤙👍
I'm a general contractor and I've been to a lot of homes with BBQs on plastic decks and composite decks, the grease from cooking plays hell on the plastic decking and it almost ruins the composite decking. All I recommend is placing a mat down under the BBQ that extends away from it a few feet to collect any grease splatter. Your BBQ rolls so you wouldn't need to even keep it out there long term if you don't want to.
great job ! Please think about a door which could be locked to close the stairs ! Very important for the future baby ! Courtney looks gorgeous with her pregnancy ! Riley : You are very lucky because Courtney has an incredible and amazing personnality !
I was so glad to hear about Bailey, as there hasn't been a word about her convalescing since surgery. The white rails for her to step over are a great idea, as are mats/carpeting on the wall side of the steps for the paws' comfort. I am still waiting for you to get a cat :) My expectations for the railing were already very high, based on everything else we have seen you do. To my eye, the distance between the spindles looked too wide, but I am sure you have it at regulation or narrower. I can only guess that there will be a roof over the BBQ, and over a greater part of the deck's expanse. Keep at it.
Loved the railing. What I think will look even chic, is a Glass railing that is held on with lugs, giving the scenery the justice it needs. Just a suggestion. The glass railing is even more baby safe for sure.
That deck looks awesome! Once you get a roof on it it'll be double the living space when it rains and snows. Can't wait to see what your summer plans are. I'm waiting to win the lottery to put in an electric system like you guys have. 😂
The railings look awesome you guys. I pray everything went well at your appointment Courtney and Riley is so right, your willingness to help with the work and machinery really makes you a treasure to have around. Stay safe and may you have a long and happy future of video making ahead, because this OG loves his Sunday videos
Hi Paul. I know you from all the Arkensas homesteads but I don't comment. These are my favorite people here. Todd & Tyler and Vanwives are also because they are vegans and won't be killing animals. When ridge life and the rest from Arkensas start showing that, it gets turned off. See you around Paul.
Wow! The railing system turned out great and looks like professionals designed, fabricated and installed it. Yes, Courtney is a competent skid-steer operator and has a good time driving it. By the way, the Christmas tree ornaments still add a nice tough to your homestead. Blessings to you folks.
The railing came out fantastic! Are you going to be getting the painting done asap? Rebar rusts fast. Are you going to be putting a hand rail down the stairs? I recommend making that out of wood with the metal brackets that are available for the rail so you will actually want to use it when it's really cold outside or if it ever gets really hot.
Mama's RIGHT you are on a roll er LOLOL. I sincerely hope you also make a gate with a LOCK for when your baby starts to walk and doesn't sneak out the door to your deck. Kids are so fast you never know unless you have your eyes on them 24/7 lol. The other reason is your pup might want to sun bathe and with the gate it will keep him safe too. THE DECK RAILINGS ARE GORGEOUS so talented for sure.
My bare feet still quiver just looking at the stairs ... I also noticed the "pup pads" along the side of the steps! Fantastic! And yes, if I was there, I'd wear shoes outside every time too.
Can you believe how fast your subscribers are growing? I watched your 50k show and you were at 235 yesterday morning you were at 442k this morning 444k. I’ve watched 5 episodes today so far and you’re at 445… insane but you are so worth it!!
Excellent job guys!!! when you make the one part removable, you should also make a Gate for the stairs for a couple of reasons. (1) it will keep unwanted animals from being on your deck (coyotes, bear cubs etc.) (2) It will keep Animals and Little humans from leaving the deck when you don't want them too. you have at least 9 more months before little humans are walking enough to worry about it.
Love the pads on the steps for the dogs great job ! It did have me a little worried lol Also thinking will they make the railing able to swing open to bring up stuff and yes you did awesome great minds thing alike haha

Great idea!
Watching your partnership, trust, and dedication not just to one another but to the vision of your future is so satisfying.
Awesome, all decked out! Should put in a slide for Riley, I mean Jr.
you two are Amazing, this has become one of my favorite youtube channels. Love how you both have your specific places and talents.. A True partnership.. you'll make great parents.
Fire up that big dozer and clear that road! I love your dozer videos
Best deck design I’ve seen in a long time. Love it. 👍🏼
Those stair treads will be brutal on tiny hands and feet. Loved the area covered for the doggos.
Great work folks!
The deck railing looks soooo good!! Really amazing!!
And, it was great to get a quickly glimpse of Bailey! Looks like her recovery is going well.
Awesome job. You two (three) are great! FYI: You need a handrail on the stairs per code, and it's a good idea.
A self closing, self locking gate at the top of the stairs is a must.
That railing was essential and the 3/4 rebar special order was the only way to go. Awesome teamwork.
THE BEST DECK RAIL SYSTEM EVER! GREAT JOB AS USUAL!
Metal railing with those rebars it's really great idea I have to say it's looks really amazing
Thanks Rafal!
Keep up on the videos guys, we all love to see an support you! You do great work, plus it’s great to see you smile while you do it! Always look forward to the videos every Sunday!
The tumbnail is enough to know that this will be a really good episode! Keep up the work!
😊
Love how the rails turned out nice job
great job ! Please think about a door which could be locked to close the stairs ! Very important for the future baby ! Courtney looks gorgeous with her pregnancy ! Riley : You are very lucky because Courtney has an incredible and amazing personnality !
Great Video! Thank you for posting it, Love the railings!
I LOVE the puppy pads on the steps for their paw protection. Y’all think of everything!💜
I was so glad to hear about Bailey, as there hasn't been a word about her convalescing since surgery. The white rails for her to step over are a great idea, as are mats/carpeting on the wall side of the steps for the paws' comfort. I am still waiting for you to get a cat :)
My expectations for the railing were already very high, based on everything else we have seen you do. To my eye, the distance between the spindles looked too wide, but I am sure you have it at regulation or narrower.
I can only guess that there will be a roof over the BBQ, and over a greater part of the deck's expanse. Keep at it.
Congratulations on the soon to be addition to the family.
So glad you put a strip of carpet up one side of the metal stairs. Your dogs will thank you!👍
As always you guys amaze us with your tenacity and ingenuity.
Loved the railing. What I think will look even chic, is a Glass railing that is held on with lugs, giving the scenery the justice it needs. Just a suggestion. The glass railing is even more baby safe for sure.
We considered a glass railing but ultimately decided we didn’t want to deal with cleaning it.
You guys are sooo awesome. This whole deck was all about the barbecue of course. 😂😂😂. I so look forward to your videos.
Am always impressed by Riley’s creativity in building jigs etc. Deck looking good will be interesting to see what happens to road after rain etr
You two are just a breath of fresh air. Your place is beautiful and the two you are so full of joy. Thanks.
now that look's fantastic guy's your places is looking great hope you have a great week 😁👍
That deck looks awesome! Once you get a roof on it it'll be double the living space when it rains and snows. Can't wait to see what your summer plans are. I'm waiting to win the lottery to put in an electric system like you guys have. 😂
Has anybody else said that I am so jealous of the view from your deck?
You both make the perfect couple. Team work makes the dream work! Congrats on your pregnancy.
Those railings look A W E S O M E!!!!
It is always nice to have all the equipment for every job, looking great.
Wow! The railing system turned out great and looks like professionals designed, fabricated and installed it. Yes, Courtney is a competent skid-steer operator and has a good time driving it. By the way, the Christmas tree ornaments still add a nice tough to your homestead. Blessings to you folks.
We’ve become quite attached to our giant Christmas tree! 😉
Professionals did make the rail system!!
@@shadegarden7375 Yes, they are both professionals.
You read my mind it’s great to see Courtney working the equipment as second nature
The deck looks great
Congratulations
Glad to see the covers for the stairs for the dogs paws.
My bare feet still quiver just looking at the stairs ... I also noticed the "pup pads" along the side of the steps! Fantastic! And yes, if I was there, I'd wear shoes outside every time too.
Right on. Slowly but surely you 2 are getting everything done. Congrats
Can you believe how fast your subscribers are growing? I watched your 50k show and you were at 235 yesterday morning you were at 442k this morning 444k. I’ve watched 5 episodes today so far and you’re at 445… insane but you are so worth it!!
Kourtney & Riley, the place is really coming together and looking awesome. Nice job, you guys ROCK!
Always enjoy your problem solving and your positivity. Great job on the deck!
Looks Amazing. What a view too! Great to see you got it done before the big snowfall. 😅
Looks really nice. It will complement the garage door well.
Thanks for sharing it’s coming together for sure.. nice to see the ideas in the head come to light and work out.
Can't believe you have Courtney lift all the heavy railing up on your deck.Good job guys I like it
You're always having fun and taking everything in stride.
