Similar to what we used at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan but without the prefabricated truss setup. Actually lived in a container, complete with a mini split air conditioner back in 2010-12!
Should have some kind of gutter system to direct water from rain to the ends. Will be a lot of watercoming off the roof. Dig a big cistern to catch the run off. Works very good for spraying. 15:04 stern
You did do it 100% correctly. Where the end wall instructions said "inside" this means inside of the building. Yes placing the cover on the container would have made the pull easier. You guys are doing a great job. I sold & installed these for about 10 years. I enjoyed watching someone else do the work for a change.
I am so glad to see Dan is back!! So,.I was a tech writer and would stand up in the training sessions talking about the instructions that are sent along with the product and would say that piece of paper all y'all toss out. Had to giggle when Mark mentioned that is what Dan does!!! I highly doubt that as all of you are so friggin' smart about how you work. Your teamwork really makes your dreams work. Keep it up and have a good dang day!!!
Should have got the wider ones that go to the outer wall of the containers. You could have used the tops of the containers as covered storage and you wouldn't have to worry about water leaking in, in heavy rains. Know a few guys that have done this, all of them wish they'd taken my advice and gone wider within a couple years.
I've just helped a friend do exactly that, there's now about 30 motorcycles on the roof of the containers and we fitted a huge mezzanine floor too, all undercover....👍
Might look at replacing those zip-ties with Black ones. The white ones don’t typically have UV stabilizers in them. The black ones usually are UV rated. Had the same black zip ties holding my Jeep grill on the front of my Chevy Express 3500 & Transit 250 for years. They last the full lease of the vehicle (6years). The Jeep grill has seen better days though.
Are you getting permits? My county requires permits supposedly but I’ve also heard that they are not required since its technically not a permanent structure. I’ve never gotten permits for anything before so I really don’t know and I really want to build this.
@@mlj6419 Thank you very much. That is reassuring. I thought that was the case and wondered why I wouldn't get a straight answer out of the building department but its not like you need to get permits to place a container or two on your land.
I hope that webbing used to strap the roof tarp in place is UV protected. The webbing on my trail cameras disintegrates every couple years or so! Well done guys.
**Guys --- having bought a handful of these from Ritchie Bros at the Denver sale over the years...and installed them at the windy climate of Kremmling, south of Walden...we've found now...buy the ones twice as long as what you're wanting...and fold the ceiling in half...so it has two layers...and they last A LOT longer...our first one, lasted three years in the extreme windy winters here --- this one now...is going on five years...doubled over, and showing no signs of weakness --- FYI --- we hung ours with a 200 LC Deere hoe, a manlift and a Lull telehandler...and lots of people...and then framed in the front with a 14' garage door in the front, rehung from a teardown on the original CDOT buildings in Walden we tore down years ago...(Just our experience...might help someone else. Also...we secured to concrete blocks on the sides instead of containers.) Great video...lots of learning for sure!!
I bought a twenty foot (length and width) a few months ago. Designed to bolt onto the container. So far has sustained 70 mile an hour gust and heavy rain down pours. Paid $1899 delivered. Two man job.
That came out beautifully. Gratefully, non-Mark narrated and explained; it was a bit shocking to see Mark himself do something other than hog the camera and blah-blah on and on about himself. It's also the first time I've seen a Bobcat used to nudge a container. Nice job, all! What concerns me is now long that friction tape and those zip ties will last in the wind and weather. Those materials tend to get brittle eventually after heati9ng and freezing. I can imagine these reaching fatigue at some point and the entire skin blowing off. Praying that doesn't happen for a few decades.
That's nice but how many years is the tarp rated and what's the tarp replacement cost? I know the sun is brutal on tarps, it literally turns a tarp to dust.
I could foresee snow load problems in high snow areas with this maybe if it went to the outside edge but wet snow could be a problem but it's cheap so losses shouldn't be too much.
What is the building code in your area for an assembly like this. The wind and up lift loading of 100 mile an hour gust is the minimum uniform building code design criteria. Sprung is the company that designs and manufactures most of these types of structures. And I have never seen them attached to cargo containers. Do your vetting with your local building code enforcement county and state. Last thing you want is to have your structure end up on your neighbors property or be the cause of injury or death to someone.
do not buy a cheap chyna one with single tube truss. I charged a customer a large amount to place leveled lockblocks and affix a tent to it only to have a freak ice storm knock it down within months.
@@SummitAggregates Hello, would I just simply build my structure as I like since I do not require permits? I want to build exactly what is in the video.
Since this isn't technically a permanent structure, were you guys able to just build this without really contacting anyone? I haven't built my own structure before and would like to build exactly this on my land and cannot find answers anywhere.
Why the hell didn't you cover the whole top of the containers. You wanted to make it weatherproof but you have those loose flaps. Go figure. That's dumb.

I think the labels on the end wall that said "OUTSIDE", meant that FACE of the wall was supposed to be facing toward the outside.
Very well did guys. That is a good amount of space.

Incredibly awesome. By the way, the kid reminds me of Carl from the Walking Dead.
Good job you guys.
Hey thanks!
Хорошая ловушка для ветра! 😊
Great job , I would have lifted the top canopy on to the container the opened it and pull it across the truss , good well done .
In hindsight, I would've as well. 😄
So where's the link to the trusses and canopy systems?
What an awesome video! Team GSD does it again 💪
I'd run a drainage trench in front and behind for those downpours, fairly common nowadays.
Judging by the holes in the end plates its designed to be bolted on... i like it

now all you need is roller doors on the sides of the containers so you can access the containers straight from under the dome

OUTSTANDING : o ....
Por estas e outras que eu gostaria de ir embora do Brasil, só pra aprender e trabalhar com estas estruturas!
Great work. Can you send a link to where you bought the canopy?
That was Easy - 5 guys and a bobcat!! Do you 5 guys make burgers??

Great job Dan and team came out great. How did the one at Florida location come out 💪
Where can I get one??
man i wish i could have that
Is there a reason why they don't show the link to purchase the canopy?
Aqui no Brasil a gente não tem dessas estruturas para comprar, tem de mandar fazer e custa uma fortuna!
Where did you get those trusses?
تُرى هل تم حساب طاقة الرياح المطبّقة على هذا الشراع الجميل ؟
Are the containers pitched to let rain run off the outside sides. I like this idea
obviously you put the back end skin on properly because the gable end bracing needed to be in place before the skins
What was the cost of this shelter? how is doing with the snow load?
sometimes the side facing the outside is coated for rain and sun protection. i would flip it
Where can i get one of those kits
We built one around 10 years ago, it was ok for about 4 years then a big storm came through and ripped it to shreds.
Why isn`t it offered for sale?
Make your life easier, put some chain links between the hook and the jib boom.
What brand did you purchase? TMG?
Shipping containers do not have lateral force structural support, so the roof migth fall down
I mean... I would be surprised.
Nice
Thanks
what was the kit called/ brand?
Webbing and bracing are basically the same thing. They are both any supporting material of the main structure.
I knew it!
Nice enclosure, however white zip ties are not UV rated, should have used black ones.
what's the snow and wind parameters?

Im in Zephyrhills FL and I have 2 40ft containers in my pasture. I was going to buy some pole barn trusses. How much for one of these?
What’s your wind speed up there? I am concerned that our winds would literally rip the weld off the containers, but maybe not? (We build to 137)
Wyoming is super windy... no hurricanes but constantly windy.
We can get 70+ mph gusts.
@@SWiFence That is a summer rainstorm in S. Florida. NWS puts up warnings when we are going to have any above 35 MPH and we often see them in 55MPH+.

You should have bolted it to the outside corner of the container's.

that horrible music sure does suck
Ah yes, I forgot to screen the music with you ahead of time. Sorry about that. 😉
How long will that last in West Texas? One year maybe two????
Maybe 6 months in Florida. Our UV and IR readings are brutal. On a scale of 1-13, we often hit the 12 and 13 for the UV.
Give us a link to where you purchased this please. At least a name of the company.
