General exploration of crannies for more rodents/insects etc. Get it up on a lift to check the undersides for mechanical nightmares. Drain and flush radiator/coolant, transfer cases, differentials. With a little luck $2000 should cover tires and all the lubing/belts/filters etc. Re tires, reminds me of my '90 Ranger, on OEM tires in 2012 when I loaded 20 50# concrete mix bags in back and got about a mile from home when the first tire blew.

I’m sure you’re aware of all the mods possible for obs trucks. My recommendations are 38 gallon rear bronco tank mod, PMF rsk front spring kit with superduty springs, b code rear superduty spring swap, hydro boost brake conversion from a 97 F-superduty, e99 turbo pedestal delete, wicked wheel2 since you likely ingested air cleaner parts into you turbo, 360 deg thrust washer. These are just some easy to do bolt on mods for these trucks. You’re really handy and these maintenance up grades should be fun and will make your new truck happy!

Love the white OBS Ford! The 7.3 manuals are such and under rated setup. I love my e99 w/ the zf6. Absolutely hauls the mail and then some.
Hutch/harpoon mod is also a really good idea if you’re dropping the tanks for that sending unit. Make sure the tank selector works as well before filling up both tanks to the top.
For the winter, glow plugs, a really good glow plug relay, good batteries, and a healthy starter are required. FoMoCo glow plugs are the good standard, a white Rodgers relay is good over kill, and a gear reduction starter at a minimum. Sounds like the truck at least has a gear reduction starter as it sits. A denso 4kw starter is a really good replacement if you’re in need for the future.

OK, word to the wise. You want it to run, be safe and not break down! So!, Pull it into your garage, and start making a list. Open the hood, make a two sided list, one for what to do, one for parts. Just go ahead and replace all wear items such as hoses, belts, fluids, filters and so on. Then look at the drive lines and components, change fluids in the trans and T-case, check, and maybe replace the u-joints, then replace all brake stuff. Shoes, pads, hoses and small parts(for the rear, calipers, Diff fluids In other words, everything that you'd normally change and replace from day one of buying it new till now. An BTW Courtney, yes the visor is "nostalgic" But so is the bug deflector! They actually do work when driving at road speeds esp at night. Really does help keep the bug guts from getting on your windshield. Look forward to the work on this truck.

You did good so long as the frame and body are in good condition. That Navistar diesel is a million mile motor… I love those mechanical IDI’s. It doesn’t take much to make the OBS Ford into great reliable rider. The seats are easily removed and can be reupholstered, you can redo the interior with Lizard Skin or Dynamat/Dynaliner which makes a big difference. Anything mechanical is easy on those Ford’s. Do a reverse shackle upgrade from PMF, that’s a cheap but massive upgrade!

This makes me miss my old Ford Ranger 4x4. Man, I loved that truck. It was my best friend for so many years. I bought it with 20K miles on it and when I had to get rid of it, it had 541K miles on it. great times

I’m sure he fixes it by the end of the vid, but a rag with gasoline is good for priming. Rag over intake will suck the fumes and it’ll run long enough to pull fuel from the tank.

All that residual dirty fuel prevented that 7.3 powerstroke engine from starting. After it was all injected, then the newly bought ci fuel was able to start it. So, yes, it was a fuel related problem. Thank you, and congratulations for diagnosing and fixing that problem, Riley.

Great vidio, you might consider purchasing a dump trailer so you can run into town and pick up some of the smaller size gravel for the muddy sections of your road they are also pretty handy around the property just know your friends will be asking if they can borrow it. 😊😊

Used to sell and drive Ford diesel pickups in the past, you can't beat the 7.3 diesel! When you were starting your diagnosis I started saying, "check the air filter for a pack rat's nest"! Next would be to check the fuel filter. You will love this truck, good buy!

You just bought the best truck Ford ever built, and in my opinion, overall of any brand- end of story. I'm not sure why you didn't just pull it up to the shop with the skid steer, it would have saved so much time and energy! Glad to see you got the best truck for what y'all need. Love the channel!!! Just remember, NEVER trust a Ford fuel gauge, no matter what gen truck you own, and I am a nut when it comes to Ford trucks.
