    Thank you so much for this video, it's really helpful! Your words made me cry because I have the same dream you had :( I was just wondering if you know anything about scholarships in ku? I have already done lots of research, but still, it's always good to ask for more information!
    I hope you continue making videos, they're really good! 💜

      Hi!! Thanks for coming by my channel! Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about scholarships. I think on the KU application you are already considered for a scholarship, but for Yonsei and Ewha I had to write my application for it on another document. When I received my acceptance emails, I didn't get a scholarship to any of them lol. In America I would be considered for financial aid and academic scholarships, but they don't seem so frequently given out for Korean universities. If you come from a developing country or need a financial scholarship, those are definitely possible (but I'm from the States and my mom's income I guess was too much for a financial scholarship lol). What I do know though is that as you continue studying here and get high grades, it is possible to receive academic scholarships along the way. But at the time of admission, I think it is harder.
      When you come to KU, the Global Services Center will be your best friend! hahaha They are there to help the international students out (i.e. I've had wifi problems and problems with my health insurance and they help me solve the problem) so they would definitely know far more about scholarships than me! Their email is gsc@korea.ac.kr so if you have any specific questions about scholarships, that is definitely the place to go! Also, the GSC will be with you every step of the way after admission to make sure you have a smooth arrival to Korea and help you settle down.
      Also! Since we shared the same dream, I just want to tell you to never stop fighting for it! I faced numerous obstacles in my personal life and the admissions process was really annoying, but if you really want it, don't let it go!!! I promise it'll pay off!!!

      · Fernanda · hi again! Have you every considered looking into the Korean Government Scholarship? I was looking to apply for it, but they don’t offer it to people in the US 🙈 but maybe Costa Rica! Also, I’m not sure that high school grades can get an academic scholarship (bc I had a high gpa and I got nothing lol) but good grades throughout your time at the university can definitely get you a scholarship! (I don’t know anybody personally but I’m just a freshman!) Also- there are department scholarships. The business school offers scholarships (more specifically to low income families or students from developing countries) during the semester, so there are more options that come up too!! And for your last question- yes! The GSC or office of international affairs are there to answer your questions at any time, whether you’re a student or not.

      @@cathyinkorea Thank you so much for all the information! I'll see what I can do, but I do hope that my grades and the fact that I'm from a developing country help me out :( or at least that I can get a scholarship while studying there.
      And yes, actually the KGSP was my first option, until I found out that for some reason they do offer scholarships for my country but only for graduate programs...
      Anyway, thank you! I'm really grateful. I hope you have a nice day!!💜

    I know that I’m super late but did you have any extra curriculars? Also in high school were you a average student or above average student? If you don’t mind me asking.

    • @cathyinkorea
      @cathyinkorea  4 года назад +1

      When I was in high school I did have a few extracurriculars, but I didn't talk about many of them. I did start a club at my school and that was the only important one to me, so I talked about that and how it pushed my interest to study in Korea. And you would probably consider me an "above average" student because I got good grades and stuff, but in my personal statements I didn't brag about my scores, I more appealed myself as to why I'd be a good fit for KU and why I was so driven to study in Korea. My "above average"-ness was really only shown on my transcript.

    • @cathyinkorea
      @cathyinkorea  4 года назад +1

      L L 💜 hi! I don’t think it is very hard for foreigners to get admitted to KU. The admissions team considers a lot more than just grades (ie your personal statements, documents, your choice in major, etc) so I don’t think you should let your GPA determine whether or not you go for this opportunity! If you really want to come to KU and appeal yourself in your essays about how you’d be a good fit for the university and Korean society, then I think you’ll have a good chance!

      @@lauraluca7275 you can still stay there! you just have to reapply for the summer or winter session and pay another fee (but I think this fee is like half of the fee you would pay for a normal semester)

    • @cathyinkorea
      @cathyinkorea  4 года назад +2

      Bila Bell 💓 Hi! Universities in Korea don’t set a benchmark for international admissions when it comes to standardized tests or grades! I was accepted without them reviewing my SAT score, but they did look at my transcript. My grades in high school were high (I had a 5.236 GPA) BUT!!! I know people that got accepted with very average grades. I think KU is looking more for people that can positively impact Korean society and people with a drive to study in Korea! So if your grades are not immaculate, don’t worry! There are many other parts of the application they emphasize as well!
