Cricut explore air 2 not cutting right

- There seems to be a wobble (back and forth movement) with clamp B that is cutting some parts of the paper, iron on and glitter card stock. I have tried changing the blade, tried using the deep cut blade/housing, a new mat and using the appropriate setting on the machine for the materials I am using. Nothing has help. It’s time consuming, labor intensive and frustrating having to go back and try to cut the image out with a razor blade by hand. It started to do this in September this year. So I’ve had the machine for about a year with no other issues with any materials (perm vinyl, glitter vinyl, card stock, and iron on)

I have the same issue, carefully with a long thin Phillips screw driver undo the screws on the back of the silver housing. Take of the cover and you’ll see the clamp b wobbling forwards and backwards. Gently push the clamp all the way down and you’ll see the metal tube at the back slide back up. Put the cover back on and it’s cuts perfectly again. (Please note, you take the housing off at your own risk - contact Cricut if you need support) I hope this helps us all😊
This. My had exactly same issue. They are made to fail, Cricut put I tiny drop of glue to hold that part in. I recommend adding some superglue on edges once you pop it back in.
@@ikarigear glue it where? I have had this issue and did what the comment says but it’ll start doing right for one cut then just goes back up again. Where should I put the glue?
@@ieshawatkins9006 So this cylinder that falls out, glue it with some super glue to the base, you only need like a drop. I haven't had an issue since I've done it.
This glue solution worked perfect! My cricut is out of warranty so was worth taking the chance to fix it on my own. Thanks for the solution!
This. Searched and searched for a solution to this issue very issue with my wife's explore air 2. Did the trick.
So many others having the same issue, machine stopped cutting months ago. I purchased all new blades, housings, mats, etc.. nothing gets the machine to cut through any material. I’ve spent many many hours trying to troubleshoot , from adjusting material settings, pressure, changing devices, clearing cache, browsing history, reinstalling software, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that cricut, during one of their updates, made a big mistake that can’t be reversed, and is now affecting a lot of machines. I say this because I have the cricut explore air 2 purchased 2019, and the maker purchased January 2021. Both machines using different computers, stopped cutting exactly the same day. All happened after an update to their software, I believe around the time they added the feature which allows you to cut in larger sizes.

Same happened to me, at the same time!!!! I figured that was the update 'cuz I keep a record on my computer on each new update that runs for each software I use.

I was so excited to get my machine. And I’m having the same problem!!! I thought I was doing something wrong like not taking my Vinyl off wrong or something. Then I saw about Calibrating the blade so I did that. Still won’t go all the way threw. Hope we all get this problem solved. It’s really heartbreaking to be so excited then BAM!!! Nothing
YEP! Same here. Mine cuts, but cuts 3-6mm off & overlaps other cuts. Tried everything i could find to do, wasted so much material out of the Maker 3 bundle i bought & after 5 cuts, it screwed up.
For some of us, it's our livelihood. I put a ton of money into a biz i cant open now. & i totally regret not buying another brand.. they really need to step up & not let the customers take this big hit, & it feels like they are & that's just SO WRONG.

My Cricut machine is 5 months old. I own a small business and this is crippling my ability to get my orders done. so frustrating. wont cut cardstock, vinyl, glitter vinyl, etc. Partial cuts, but I cannot get any project to cut out at all. Ugh! Beyond frustrated!!!
Exact same problem, 5 months old machine, out of the blue last week started doing the same, called cricut, ran through everything and they are replacing it, however, they are out of stock, I'm loosing so much business

@@vanessa-cl6nv mine was working fine. Now out of the blue it just stopped working on all my cuts. Called cricut they tried to tell me I'll give you credit of 50.00 for a new one. I owned it for a year and used it 5 times on vinyl name projects. Ever since they updated their new policy changes, alot of people are telling me the same thing. It , worked fine until they screwed up the changes. They, gonna screw you over one way or the other. Money, hungry thieves my husband says. I hope they go into bankruptcy. I ain't buying another machine because they gonna use that excuse for the next machine. Good luck to you..pss. do you still have your machine? I'm about to get my husband to throw it in the rd. and run over the thing. It causing me chest pain and anxiety because I wasted so much time trying to get 😪 it to work. Piece of crap
@@snoppy1038 mine is also doing the same, I envisioned myself bashing the machine with a hammer. I called cricut and they had me send a video and they are supposed to be sending me a new one. If I buy another next time I’m buying an extended warranty.
Good day! How to solve the wiggle movement of blade casing for letter B. First, you need to remove the cover of Cricut in the blade casing part by unscrewing 2 small screws, Second, you need o to remove the screw for letter A before releasing the letter B casing. Third, at the back of the letter B casing, there's a metal tube you need to align at the original position because once the Cricut machine is used for a long period of time the metal tube will go down then you need to realign it. (note:) be careful in disassembling Cricut parts. I notice that's the problem with my Cricut in the blade casing area.

I have the same machine as yours. I got it for Christmas and it’s been working just fine and then all of a sudden it’s not. I changed blades, calibration and different materials and it’s still not.. I paid too much for this machine for it to be acting up after 2 mod of having it. I’m calling cricut today! Good luck everyone.

@@kerri-annfullerton1335 yes! They gave me a case number and asked me to video what it was doing. Within a week they determined it was defective and replace my machine with a brand new one. The only downside was I had bought a black machine and they couldn’t promise me I’d get another. I got a baby blue one, I can live with that.
@@darygal64 ohhh okay I don’t have that tremor while it’s cutting but since the update my materials haven’t been cutting all the way through 😒 and I’ve been trying to reach customer service via online chat and they haven’t gotten back to me as yet I just got tired and cancelled my subscription
@@kerri-annfullerton1335 I called the 800 number and had to hold for a short time. It’s worth it. After spending all that money on that machine it needs to work right!

i had the same problem, i just follow you i have not even take away the cricut cover, i just push to where you thought it should be pushed. and i heard a click and then when i run a try, i fixed my problem. thank you so much! i have not used my cricut about a year since the problem occured. and then this.... i can use it now❤❤❤

I just bought mine today! I went from the JOY to this one 😯
I've had mine for few weeks...it hasn't cut properly from day one. It cuts, but it doesn't cut properly...I'll try to cut out some vinyl and all the lines are criss crossed/overlapping, won't cut tight corners/curves....it is very frustrating and a waste of time.
So I was trying so hard to cut just simple vinyls. Semi permanent and permanent. What I found to help me was I had to increase my blade pressure. So once I’ve done that to word be cutting a little deeper I was actually able to weed it out for the first time I am very new to this I just got mine like a week ago and I was so upset I couldn’t cut anything so I was thinking I should’ve bought the maker. But I’m a single momma and money is an issue. So for anybody who is struggling like I was try to increase the blood pressure I have found a lady who showed you how to do it you go under your machine settings I cannot remember her name though on RUclips and for my vinyl I had to use a green mat. Anyways. I hope this helps somebody. I know it sure helped me to do it.

I just spent 3 hours with customer service. No one had answers. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a new machine. 🤞
I believe this is a defect that came with the newer Design Space version updates. Mine worked fine until Design Space started requesting updates.

@@elainelingat227 I called Cricut and they sent new machine even though it was out of warranty. They walk you thru a series of tests and then you have to send a live video of what the machine is doing. My machine would not even cut thru regular copy paper so it was toast.
I tried everything, even I used the deep blend 3 times cutting and still not cutting the cardstock 😭so frustrating especially now that Christmas is coming😭 not good for my business. thanks for sharing
My cricut started doing that yesterday. Is like the blade(B) is moving in a vibration way. side to side. Works for me in other stuff but is a big NOOIO when is my stiker paper with a laminated paper aswell on top of it all. I'm very sad, dont get it and only have it for a couple of months now.
MY SOLUTION - I use cardstock for my business projects. After a recent update, my fairly new Explore Air 2 (purchased in September 2020) starting "half cutting" my images - it cuts on one side and "scores" on the other even though I am not using the "scoring" stylus or setting. When I noticed this, I uploaded a circle for cutting and one-half of it was cut; so I decided to experiment after several unsuccessful incomplete cuts: I kept the half-cut circle loaded in my machine, canceled the cut, went back and selected "flip" on the canvas - then "Make It". It cut completely through on the opposite side of the circle that was uncut/scored. SOLUTION: So, since it appears to be a software issue because the machine cuts, I decided to make up a custom setting (I named it "Cardstock+ Custom") that allows me to set the highest pressure at 350, multi-cut at 4 (I had tried multi-cuts 2, 3 and higher; after several tests 4 was what worked for me) and saved it. Leaving the dial on Custom allows you the opportunity to pick your own cut and then to change the blade pressure from Default each time you select "Make It" - I changed mine to More pressure. It solved my issue - I now get fully clean-cut images. Because of the 4 multi-cuts it takes a few minutes longer, but I am satisfied. I don't know if this will work with other materials, but it's worth a try - experiment with the multi-cuts that will allow you to cut all the way through when you create your custom setting using 350 as the highest pressure. Let me know if this works, especially if you are using other than cardstock - I am curious. For me, it's a temporary fix to keep my business on the move until Cricut figures out what is making this happen to their machines.
Cricut needs to hire you in their Customer Care dept lol. Thank you so much for this information. I am using permanent vinyl and this worked for me. I changed the multi-cut to two, I can probably go to one, just don't want to waste anymore vinyl lol. I spent too much time on the phone with them yesterday with no resolution. I cam across this today and within minutes I am back up and running. Even if it's a temporary fix, I am happy. Thank you again!

Were you ever able to figure out why it was only cutting half? I’m having that issue and I can’t seem to figure it out. Even with increasing my pressure to 350 and cutting 4,5,6 times it still won’t cut through the one side for some reason. I’ve put a new blade in, tried a brand new mat, different materials, and it just won’t cut through the other side.
@@rebeccabird8990 No, I haven't figured it out - that is a Cricut product issue for them to investigate and resolve. I wish I had that capability to do so -- then we all would not be having this concern nor conversation. LOL!
I have the EXACT ISSUE and I tried EVERYTHING with a machine that is 3 months old!!!! CRICUT needs to reimburse or AT LEAST send materials to their customers who've wasted and lost so much money buying materials!! I spent so much money already and I only buy Cricut brand products which we all know ain't cheap! Cricut needs to get it together!!!

Cricut replaced my machine. Mine was about a year old so I hope it won’t happen again. I mainly cut vinyl but when I cut glitter card stock is when the issue started
21karis did you have warranty on it? I’m having the same issue but I don’t have warranty on it!
@@lesliesantacruz505 It wasn’t anything I paid extra on as far as a warranty. Mine was about a year old. If it’s having an issue I would get in contact with Cricut and see if they can resolve the issue. My problem couldn’t be fixed so it was replaced

I've been having this issue for a year and a half now, I kept trying and it broke so many blades doing this, I was trying to lift it between cuts if they are big and far away and it would go crazy! Cricut has asked me to go where I bought it, Michaels asked me to ask Cricut, the nearby repair places for devices don't fix Cricut, I'm so frustrated because I created many projects on their app, wasted so much time and money and bought so many materials for my small business but it only worked properly for about a month and then started acting funny with cuts, and not so long before this happened!!! I want to get a new machine so I can use the materials I have, but seeing so many people have the same issue with no solution makes me worried I will get the same issue in the new one if I got one.

mine had this problem and was easy to fix as stated in one the comments take of the silver housing cover to small screw at the back which you take of from the top and if your bearing has moved down the bottom of the blade carrier use a small screw driver/ Allen key to push it flush with the top of the blade carrier work perfectly for me. hope this helps any people in the future if any one needs and photos please get in touch

I tried my hardest to find a solution. Using different materials, blades, mats while using the appropriate cut setting. I couldn’t find any info that anyone was having the same issue. I would get ahold of Cricut to see if they can diagnose your machine. They have been great and have responded to all my emails. Hope to get my replacement soon. Good luck
Mine did this exact same thing & they are sending me a replacement machine right now. My cricut would not make any upward cuts but your clamp B holder you can see it’s kinda of shaking slightly and mine was doing that too! Hopefully you guys can get a replacement.
Mine is doing this too and I’ve only have it 5 months. Thinking now if it’s worth keeping. Also does anyone know if this is a common problem with the explore air or the maker too?
@@akhtarjatt786 both my maker and air 2 are having the same issue, not cutting all the way through material, issue started same day on both machines. I am currently in contact with cricut for a replacement. I believe it’s a software update they did a few months ago which affected some machines .
I mainly use my cricut for HTV & permanent vinyl & this just started happening to mine Exp Air 2 yesterday. I was so frustrated & upset I wanted to cry wasted alot of good material trying to figure it out. Ive had it for a year now & its been really good to me until now. I even adjusted pressure/different settings/new blade still doesnt work right.

Mine is new...same issue. Cricut is sending me new blade and housing to try... If I had seen all these videos and comments before buying I probably would not have invested in this machine/company. Frustrated and losing money with vending events this sat and next sat too.... 😭
My machine is one year old too. After cutting about 8 glitter cardstock cards, the blade stopped cutting cleanly. I also cleaned clamp B, installed the deep cut blade and housing and increased the material settings. The only thing that worked was to cut the same image over about three times. Very time consuming and frustrating. I had this problem for glitter and plain cardstock.

I am having the same problem with all materials. It will cut some stuff and then bam nothing. I have to cut the letters etc all over again that takes so much time. I have cleaned the blade, changed it out, but I still get the same results. I only had my cricut for about a year.

I’m pissed I just received my machine and have the same issues. It was a gift but I’m getting frustrated. Will be calling today to get some resolution, a new machine will do since they sent a new needle and the issue is still there
Just found this looking for help with my explore air 2. Mine purchased in 2021 I have been a Cricut user since 2012. Mine is stopping making circles over and over again. I have changed the blade looked for trash inside the machine it just cut perfect one time than next cut started cutting tiny circles getting louder while working it

Same! Its giving me anxiety & I'm wasting my vinyl.. being so many are having this problem, do you think they did another update & screwed something up? I hate the new lines around text box.. It covers the text. They are to thick & dark.
My machine is only a few months old and I haven’t use it that much and it quit cutting already and I have tried everything and it’s just ruining everything I try and wasting all my money and time, so does anybody have any ideas of what to do and where to go and who to talk to etc. because I am VERY upset and I paid a lot for my machine and didn’t get any Sale prices!
I see that it is not cutting you have changed the cutting blade and also tried the deep cut. I see that others are have the same issues I think what may be happening is that after a year the belt is stretched and the tension needs to be adjusted. I had a belt break and looking at it it appears to be just rubber without any support material (steel or fibre). I do not know if you have attempted to have it do a recut before ejecting (one has to hit the cricut button again and it will recut following the same lines but if you eject it will not follow the lines). If after doing the second cut and it works then I would look at belt adjustment. To adjust my belt I found that I only had about 1/4 inch play in the belt under very light pull pressure (not fiddle string tight). You can do a search on RUclips for how to change belt on the machine and see how it is done. Let me know how it works for you. Good luck everyone.

Mine is brand new it did not cut the test card stock all the way through. Tonight I used Cricut vinyl it didn’t cut it through. It was white so I couldn’t see it good. I then got a red and adjusted pressure from 174 to 180 still didn’t cut through then went up to 184 and cut through same vinyl. It’s following the same lines but won’t cut thru ! I’m so mad! I’m turning up to 350! As someone else did. The head on mine seems to run smooth and correct but I mean how much pressure is it gonna take ?! And I can’t believe these come with 0 instructions and chat dude said there should be. Not ! Then he said he was going to find something for me and never returned. I’m wondering if we’re getting refurbished machines? I’m going to 350 wish me luck
.....well I'm simply using an android tablet... I overlooked the default option in tiny "Green Letters " in the 3 final steps. Opt (1) after I set my material it popped up.. I missed it at first. Works perfect now..hope this help. "Default" "More" or "Less"
I am using a cricut air 2 and even after adjusting the default it still does not finish the cuts.
Having a similar problem , my blades is cutting mid air before making contact with the actual vinyl or card stock , meaning that there's about a cm worth of un cut project but then it gets worst as it moves through the rest of the project with virtually no cut at all

I just got a Cricut Explore 3 about a week ago. It worked fine when cutting the vinyl. I was so excited to cut letters on card stock for bulletin boards, and it did not cut through. This is my first Cricut. Should the blade dull that fast, after 3 projects?
No it shouldn’t dull that quickly. I’ve done numerous projects with the same blade (card stock, vinyl, window cling, paper, sticker paper) If you use heavier duty materials like glitter paper or glitter vinyl but even with that the blade would last more than 3 projects.
This is what’s happening to mine, started the other day and wobbles like yours and won’t even cut simple shapes like yours, I went and purchased new blades today and still not working, I hope I can get an exchange as I need this to work!

ive made small successful shirt projects. Today i cant get my cricut to cut the viynl it starts cutting at my blue mat top left corner.. it wont come down about an inch or two to cut the vinly instead .. ive tried moving image on canvas and the make it canvas but nothing works??
I make an upgrade kit that solves the problems with this model and improves accuracy of your cuts.

I called Cricut customer service, and someone really nice answered and she was helping me trying to get it fixed, but nothing really worked, and she told me that they were going to cover all of the material that I had wasted and send me a brand new blade to see if it was that, but then considering my bad luck the call hung up because of my service 🤯, so then I called again and someone else answered (wasn't as nice) and basically told me to just buy a new Cricut 😒, but at least she gave me a $20 credit on Cricut, which I'm using to buy a new blade with housing and hopefully see if that's the issue

I had the same problem after 5 months since I bought cricut air2 explorer. I changed the knife, the vinyl so than later I would realize that only the fonts and images downloaded cut the knife badly, instead the fonts in the system cut very well so I realized that neither the knife nor the materials were to blame at least in my case . I hope it helps someone not to lose the nights I lost discovering this. by the way I am from Romania Hi to ALL!

Had my air 2 for just over a week, tried different paper, cardstocks and vinyl, never cuts cleanly. Have tried different settings, cleaned blade, tried all of the advice I can find on you tube and social media, nothing helps. So frustrating as sold to work out of the box. HELP 😡😡😡😡

My machine has stopped cutting any material I choose all the way through, and now it also makes a grinding noise!! I have changed the blade multiple times with no solution and now I am completely Frustrated!

Add me to the group. Having same issues. I got my explorer a couple weeks ago and bought every single tool, 3 different blades, about 25 tube of vinyl, sticker paper, transfer paper, vinyl you can write on, the label paper, oh and a duffel bag specifically for the machine from Amazon ( the only purchase not made by Cricket) all together I’ve spent HUNDREDS of dollars. Tried doing my first project, a b-day card, and it doesn’t cut all the way 😤😠😡🤬 I will NOT accept this. I’m calling them tomorrow and demanding a new machine. Screw that, I got tired of getting ripped off by retail companies a few years back. Like I say “they have way more money than I do, so they can’t keep mine, I want only what I paid, sometimes over-paid, for. Usually it’s not a problem. Sorry for the rant. Good luck everyone.
I've had this issue out of box and brand new. Doesn't matter what settings, calibration or blade depth I do. Tried the cricut troubleshooting on their help page, nothing. I'm at my wits end and starting to think I should've just saved my money a little longer and got the cutting machine I really wanted, a Silhouette.

@@FuneralRoses i was able to figure out my cricut and got lucky after endless calibration, now im leaving it as is and hope it doesnt mess up in the future

Hi I am having the same problem I bought the machine for my daughter last February but l only got it until September last year due to the fact that my relative was stuck in the us every thing was fine until about two weeks ago we ran out of paper and decided to continue a week after with the fresh paper when it all started we have changed blades card stock mat settings you name it we are tired any advice would be good
Unfortunately I tried everything possible. The only thing I would suggest is giving them a call. Hopefully they can help to get it to work or send a replacement
turn your mat upside down pull it away from your paper it will not rip
Yes this is very frustrating especially because I delicate cuts for a lot of my projects. My machine is a year old and I am way in Jamaica dont think they would even consider sending me a new machine :(

mine is new it will not cut thru
Mines 1wk old and just stopped after trying to use holographic glitter.
Mine is brand new also and won’t cut all the way through
mine did not cut out a simple sticker accurately and calibration does not make any better . Quite useless. This is an underdeveloped prototype not a final product. Steve Jobs at apple said they dont ship crap, apparently cricut does.

I found that making sure the blade is clear of debris , and changing to a deeper setting like cardstock allows me to cut glitter.

I am so frustrated I only had mine a couple of weeks only did one project with some iron on vinyl and some glitter vinyl I restarted the machine, put in a brand new blade even though the 1 I have is brand new already it just keep skipping letters I'm trying to make something for a paid project that I am doing and I am over it I don't have time for this lol I am pulling my hair out right now

My cricut has been slicing across my projects like the blade drags and ruins everything. Just got off the phone with them and sent my video so we will see
I’m having the same problem! I just got my Cricut and it cuts all over the place. So frustrating. Did you ever find a fix?

@@kellyfromflorida nope they were very good about it! They sent me a new one within 3 days then I sent my broken on back with the shipping label sent to my email.
