Hi John. Have binged watched from the beginning. I've been into rc cars and Hot Wheels/Matchbox. Recently just rediscovered slot cars, and am amazed at how far the technology has come. Love your work and detailed track! Your attention to lighting and sound is next level. I knew I wanted to get involved into the hobby but wasn't sure what company or scale I would start with. Watching your videos has made my decision easy. I'm sure I will re-watch some of your videos in the future as I progress through this hobby. I may never have a track as advance as yours, but it's been fun to watch!
You my friend have earned yourself a sub. Very well done. Would love a comprehensive video on how to use the safety car with Smart Race including a running start w safety car, lap counting etc if possible.
Thank you. Safety car is very easy, using the ESC button on the CU, or in Smart Race. You return the car using the same button. Lap counting for the safety car is selectable in Smart Race as well, and shows on the screen as controller #8. Normally, safety car acts like a ghost car when running ( random lane changes), but when you "send it home" it will activate every lane change until it returns home. Starting a race is easy with the safety car is easy, and is no different than a ghost car. It will start in "return home" mode, and will activate every lane change. Very easy as actually.
Excellent modification. Haven't even got my track running but this modification made too much sense not to do. I did swap the tail lights to get wire on same side as the board.
I noticed the sensor sticks out of the track after moving it. The backing plate has a groove for the sensor in the old location that allows it to be flush with track surface. Have you had any issues with sensor in new location?
I have the same safety car as you do. I am having a hard time getting the car to run at a slow speed. Even when applying a small amount of throttle. I can get other cars to just creep on the track; not this pace car though. Any ideas to slow it down?
First, can you set another car as a pace car and see if that will slow?? You can try setting the pace car as a regular car, drop the speed setting to 1, (default is always 10) then try reprogramming as a pace car. If all else fails, might be an issue with the chip (early versions of the latest decoder had issues) that can be fixed by adding a resistor. I will see if I can track that down if necessary. Might be a good video!!
@@slotcarmayhem9765 I will give that a try. Can you factory reset the cars like you can the control panel to clear all memory.? I sent you a question also on your video making a power supply #16, could you respond, please? Thanks, Ron
Hi there, great video..have one question trying to wrap my head around how the pace car then triggers the other end of the pit lane when re-joining the main track as you have moved the sensor at the entrance and in the car so when it rejoins the main track where would the signal come from to throw the blade? sorry if this is a dumb question as I'm a newbie to digital and am still putting together my track plan. Thanks in advance, Stephen
There isn't a blade at the pit lane exit, the car just rejoins the track. It's only when two lanes are going to dverge (eg. pit lane entrance) that you need a blade to throw .. and choose which lane to go into. Two merging lanes always end up in the same lane. A neat solution John, I was wondering how you were going to do that!
(It is potentially confusing but the pit lane hasn't been reversed. Instead, moving the car and special pit lane sensors across means race cars ignore the safety car's dedicated pit lane and the safety car ignores every junction except it own) 👍
Ben Evans thanks Ben, I didn’t realise that, makes perfect sense now I think about it. I did think that the pit lanes could be entered from each end so as to facilitate reverse running but obviously this is not the case. Once again thanks.👍😎🇦🇺
Hi, Ben is correct. (and Thanks to Ben for answering!!😁) Sorry for the long delay, but had to catch some ZZZZZZ's. The main intent for this modification is the layout is intentionally designed with lanechangers that normally force the safety car to bypass its pit lane when returning home, thus never allowing it to return home. This fixes that issue. Also, the part that joins the pit lane to the main has no flipper, it's just a "Y". Lastly, the Fuel section itself does NOT require modification, as it is not necessary for the safety car to park itself. Thanks to Ben for answering!!!
@@slotcarmayhem9765 I heard you super glued the decoder in the pace car Anytime i install a decoder to a car i hot glue them in place Makes it easier to remove it later if it’s faulty or in your case you want to rotate the chip back to the original position
Nice Job John very practical and helpful. Thanks for sharing !
John, such brilliance!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!!! I'm still learning as I go...
@@slotcarmayhem9765 - and we enjoy learning from you, John; thanks for leading the way!

Thank you, and believe me, it's a fun hobby!! I am also an old-school RC car guy (when the pan RC-10s were the rage), and this is almost as fun!!

Awesome sauce!
Thank you sir!!
John, on Glendale 65 Ep. 22, you had a creeping safety car; how did you resolve that issue? Thanks love your videos!

Are you still doing videos
Still in the game, yes. Just had some medical things that were needed.
