All ghost cars are programmed as controller #7, and normally ALL will count laps. The newer versions on SmartRace allow you to run multiple ghost cars, and appear to work by adding a delay, allowing only 1 ghost car to register laps at a time.
The Carrera track planner available is most likely the best out there. I am using a very old version of Ultimate Racer, but the newer UR3.0 is pretty good as well. Both are paid versions, but well worth it.
If you install the anti-collision chips at the lane changers, it looks like a piece requires isolation. I will also be isolating the Safety Car Pit Lane to prevent random "creep" of the Safety Car.

thanks for showing the clip removal tip, I didn't realise they cam out until now. I wonder if they sell spares as I have broken a few.
I have not seen spares for sale, but I'm sure any good supplier will sell you some if you ask them.

I do. Makes setting the speed easier.
