    One thing I learned about this channel from watching quite a few videos, you take everything to the nth degree. Nothing is half baked, or even 100 percent, it’s far beyond and this newbie learned a lot. I’m not far off from retirement yet, but I have enough track and accessories to get me started, but I don’t have the room yet, I need to figure that out still. Anyway, excellent video!

    Awesome layout, I’ve been looking at a lot of designs, trying to figure out what will be best for me and I think I’ll adopt your plan, it’s the best by far for moderate space and the layout construction is very well thought out, did you use any programs for this project layout or is it your idea?

    Wow great automations! I’m building a track myself and was wondering
    If there is an API from smart race that you could use in order to tie everything together. (For example, Control the lights depending on different race statuses, or use a Philips hue button to pause a race (without having to break open the CU and hardwire a series of buttons). Great stuff 👍🏻

    Great demo of a brilliant set up once, again John. Since watching your series I've bought myself a Carerra set and have a basic pit lane race running with SmartRace mysel,f though I'm a long way from having automation. One little tip I picked up elsewhere - and you might find interesting before getting into landscaping - is using wooden wedges under the track, eg on the outside of a turn, to give the track camber. In technical sections for example shims on the inside of the corner could give a tricky off camber, positive camber helping the cars to corner in fast sections if you get me. Excellent vid as usual though.

    You are not Slot Car Mayhem, you are the “Slot Car Master”. Did you have to do any programming for the software or was it programmed or scripted? You are constantly covering things from prospectives that no one else is. Everyone else is showing the reces and cars, but you are talking about what goes into having both a successful and reliable experience. You are like a master teacher and it looks like you are a Carpenter if not an Electrican. Can you if you have not already done so, show us where that Dc tap or power supply is on your layout. I wouldn’t miss an episode for anything. Keep up this outstanding content and keep giving us the back story like no one else!!!

      Yes, I did some programming in Tasker for Android, and am putting together a tutorial series on Tasker itself, and how to read events in Smart Race with Tasker.
      I am also in the middle of a video on the electrical system overview, showing interconnections, the system as a whole, etc. That might answer your question of the DC Taps.
      Thank you again for such kind words!!

      @@slotcarmayhem9765 Hi John. Can't wait for the Tasker tutorial, is there a way for you to upload the script to the Tasker users group? I've added a VIM 3 to my Smartrace, works way better than casting to a tablet or phone. Then I changed my almost new LED pot lights to Phillips Hue pot lights, so all that is left is to tie them together.

    • @slotcarmayhem9765
      @slotcarmayhem9765  3 года назад

      I am almost ready to start the tutorials... would post the code, but a lot is direct linked to other devices. I haven't tried running exclusive on VIM3 because I want race director control over events. Will start the video series very soon!!
      The base of it if you wish to experiment is this: A profile (when SR is running) triggers the racecap task. The racecap task queries the screen every 1.5 seconds (via autoinput), writes a text file, then looks for specific occurances of text ("*started raining*"), then using auto remote, sends a command to another device to run a task (trigger the Hue Thunder app to start the rain event). The VIM3 task loops until terminated.

    You can add weather to the slot cars? How does that work?

    • @slotcarmayhem9765
      @slotcarmayhem9765  4 года назад +2

      The weather is a plug-in feature for SmartRace (the lap counting software on the screen). When rain starts, cars will change speed and braking (configurable), and then can have further different speed and braking (configurable) after the "tire change". I am just tapping into that to trigger the lighting and sound.

    How many time did you choose for the tire change in smart race? What time do you choose when you have damage plugin and weather plugin active?

    • @slotcarmayhem9765
      @slotcarmayhem9765  4 года назад +1

      I choose tire change time based on refuel time. I want to be able to refuel to 100% from empty without tire change occurring. In this case I believe it is 15-16 seconds for tire change. Damage is only 5 seconds to reduce fueling capability when in pits for damage.
