No I’m just a person. Jedi might be based off of secret monastic traditions though?

@@SonamHoani I know you say it’s best to not look for the looker, but if we were to try that what exactly should we do or what is the point of the instruction?

Have you seen my update version of this video? m.ruclips.net/video/KToeN3HZwQ4/видео.html I just thought I’d ask before I write it out, incase it’s a better explanation. But do let me know, because I’m also happy to explain through writing it too :D (To be fair, It might still necessary…)

In general though… it’s like, look for what graspable evidence you have that there is a thinker in addition to thoughts, or a listener in addition to sounds, a looker in addition to sights. Investigate this conceptually or experientially until you reach the conclusion that there is no evidence of a solid someone in addition to experiences. There is just experience. Perhaps an experience of looking for the looker, but nevertheless no solid and actual looker. Then rest in experience as it is… as a matter of experience, without this idea or assumption that their is a solid someone to whom it belongs. Repeat that again and again, develop a relationship to being without the sense of a solid someone. Move through the world in that way, understanding that our habit is usually to do the former thing :D

You're welcome! Thank you. I think this method although easy to underestimate is ultimately the most compatible with the wisdom we gain from the insight of selflessness :)

Your videos are great! I am following the FitMind app, and it is the first thing that has actually helped me to really start to move into a feeling of open awareness. However, these questions of non-duality always hover over us somewhere. Today the app said I should 'pause to glimpse non-duality once today'. I typed that into Google and one of your videos showed up. Your videos are really helpful so a big thank you from a humble English teacher over in Vietnam! :)

Thank you so much! I’m very happy to hear this. Meditation changed my life but everywhere I looked the nondual teachings were inaccessible to me! But after 10 years it feels easy! And it’s also clear to me that it shouldn’t have to take anyone else too much effort :) Wishing you the best teaching in Vietnam :) I’ve passed through there once :D

I love this so much. So dang happy to have found this channel. Okay so you mentioned in the comment section what this practice would entail:
"Look for what graspable evidence you have that there is a thinker in addition to thoughts, or a listener in addition to sounds, a looker in addition to sights. Move through the world in that way, understanding that our habit is usually to do the former thing".
And yes I have seen the newer video titled "How to "Look for the Looker" / "Look for the one who is looking"".
My problem is that I can't seem to "grasp" anything, as far as "evidence" goes for a thinker apart from thoughts, for example. I just don't know how to examine that. It seems other people can latch onto a feeling or something, and then examine it... but I can't seem to latch onto anything in the first place. So I'm unsure of how to progress with that prompt.
So I do find nothing (as intended), but not because I looked and didn't find anything, but rather because I don't know how to look, so I am curious to try and have other people try and explain what is going on in their minds during such times.
BUT, that's why I love this video so much, because I feel I am quite good at doing exactly what is in this video. I already do somewhat lack a feeling of being this distinct self that is apart from objects when I mindfully meditate, so it seems I'm still on the same path, it's just that I don't seem to be able to perform the prompts... but that doesn't seem to matter.
I'd love to see a video on what to do, if you just can't even begin to perform these prompts, due to not being able to look within and examine some kind of found feeling of "self" or whatever. For a more extreme example, some people claim to feel a very strong solidly constructed sense of self that is immediately obvious and right there, but I sure as hell don't have that feeling that is so easily located and examined.
Sometimes fingers will be clicked every 5 seconds (Sam Harris) and I'm supposed to snap into some mode (I think it was to just feel as part of the universe), I sure as hell don't understand how to perform that one. Maybe a video about that would be cool if you understand it, since people mention Sam's finger clicking a lot, I think because of how absurd it seems when they're already so baffled. Plus, I think people don't like being somewhat clicked at lol.
Wondering if you have any thoughts or advice for me here.
Really liking the channel so far, and I absolutely love your approach with what you feel is needed in this nondual mindful meditation space, because it certainly benefits individuals like me who are just trying to understand the very basics of some things.

Thank you for this lovely and thoughtful message! I’m taking a note of it and I’ll contemplate it a little bit, before properly responding :D This clicking thing you mentioned is a really good video idea. XD Haha. I have friends and they absolutely hate being clicked at! 😆 At least that’s how they feel when they hear the instruction. Thank you. I think I can do something with everything you’ve written here! My coming video for this week is going back into this particular territory and I hope it will lay out some more and relatable sensations to further make this roadmap clearer! Really happy to have you here! I think you’re an example of my intended viewer… I think, we probably think about this quite similarly :)

@@SonamHoani - A video on clicking would be pretty funny lol. The clicking feels like those kids shows where they ask the camera a question like "how are you doing today?" and you say "I am doing terribly", and they say "that's great to hear!". Like they're assuming the general response, and I feel the clicking is the same in how there's 1 click... and then there's 7 more clicks, as if I wasn't already completely baffled after the first one.
Thanks for the response! very much looking forward to checking that video out when it's time, and a lot of other videos you've already made. So many of them are piquing my interest, and it's already making me a lot more interested in returning to mindful meditation again, since I did kind of unintentionally slack off for a good while. I'm a serious procrastinator and whatnot, but I get a lot out of mindful meditation (even if it's just for a few seconds as a daily tool), and I think with less confusion, I'll have more of a consistent desire to meditate.

Haha! So true about those kid shows.
My practice can be pretty consistent too, but for me that’s been the journey. The clearer I get, the more enthusiastic I become. I also feel like I know the value of the practice, so even if it’s not today, or only a short moment, I feel confident that there will come a day that I have a committed routine :D

I used to think I had this idea grasped, but now I see otherwise. I always thought seeing myself or head in the third person proved that I am not in my body but in fact everywhere. It had made sense to some degree, but then it started to feel like I am missing the point as I was still with effort associating myself with a physical object.

    • @SonamHoani
      @SonamHoani  Год назад +1

Exactly! What you’ve described here is actually quite a natural mistake on the path of “seeing,” without any concepts! Of course the third-person perspective is just another idea about being. You’re getting there! 🙌🙌😄
