I love the egg shape of the pseudobulb! There is an orchid exposition near me next week and may have to look for an encyclia or a brassavola orchid or both! I think I spend my free time researching orchids. It's real obsession! :-)
Hi Danni, Yet another stunner, With beautiful colouring, You are making me so jealous with all these gorgeous orchids, Every-time I see another new one or another one in bloom I want it, I haven't been lucky enough to find any kind of fragrant orchid yet but I will keep looking, I bet your balcony smells wonderful, You lucky girl, oh I meant to tell you I think three dying orchids I bought are going to live yay, the leaves have filled out a bit and are not so floppy and even the flowers on them have stood up and look very pretty, not bad when you think I cut off a load of dead roots, Plus I don't really know what I'm doing LOL, God bless you and thank you for all your very good advise and instructional video's. Rosemary :-)
Hi Dani. First of all I’d like to thank you for teaching me with so many good videos I have learned so much. I have this plant for around 5 or 6 years. It came in wood. I noticed it’s not doing well at all. Can I plant it in a pot. If so how do I get it off the wood. I’m so afraid to kill it. Your faithful friend Criasty.
Hi Danni, my Encyclia Cordigera has gone out of bloom now. The lips were more colored than yours and fragrant from morning to night. My bulb is as big as the younger bulb on your plant and I only got 4 blooms...I can't wait for my plant to get a nice bulb like yours☺. Thank you for sharing this beauty.
Ana Sam....you may have the same Cordigera as mine...because mine also has a strong fragrance from sun up to sun down....smelling so beautifully...my favorite orchids blossom fragrance.
Hi Danni great vid and great orchid i first saw your channel last year when I bought my first orchid a B. Nelly Isler and your videos have helped me keep her growing and shes produced new psudobulbs which is great also soon after i got that one i got 3 phals 12 NOID's and one called red leather which is a beautiful flower thanks Mark
She is absolutely gorgeous! She looks similar to mine except the lip appears to be much broader and lighter in color...and maybe also that may be the difference in fragrance...Mine has such a strong fragrance that starts early in the morning and only fades after the sun goes down...also their fragrance last from the day it first blooms to the very end when it drops and is indeed one of the reasons why I love them so. I have 3 types of Nadosas but none of them have bloomed for me yet so I am unable to compare the strength of their fragrance....but can say that my cordigera is the strongest smelling orchid I have thus far. Congrats on such beautiful blossoms! I love them!
PictureMaria1 yes I read it in some sources that the full purple variety has a stronger scent, well I don't mind having multiple varieties, that's why I keep holding on to my sick one :P
Rachel Alic Hi Rachel, I ordered this one from Germany at Schwerter, you can find all sorts of beautiful orchids there, here is their website www.shop.schwerter-orchideenzucht.de/index.php?language=en
I am planning to buy it... the var alba ... fingers crossed! I currently live in easten India and close to eastern Himalayas.... sooooo i get most of my plants in less than a day. :D Also.... I am going on a orchid tour in the Himalayas .. touribg Darjeeling and the wild rhododendrons of the deep Himalayas.... :)
What a beautiful bloom Dani! I have an Encyclia too, but different species. It came to me without any healthy roots, and the pseudobulbs are shrivelled but it is recovering well as it's a large plant. Will the bulbs plump back up eventually when it recovers or will they remain shrivelled?
olavaazh glad she is recovering, the bigger the plant is the more energy she has stored up :) well the psb will usually plump up, they won't look shiny and new, but definitely better than they look now :)
Beautiful looks like my collection is about to increase yet again, oh I must say I love watching your video's although it has the potential to hurt my bank balance 😃💕
Hi there, Thanks for uploading your videos, I'm relatively new to orchids (3 years) and your videos have really helped me. I'm wondering if you would please tell me what the orchid is next to the E. cordigera? Thank you
Hi Danny ! Im your #1 mexican fan :D i wanted to ask you something about this orchids, i used to live in southern california where the weather is hot as hell (So i couldnt grow orchids there and the ones i had they went fried :( ) , but now im living in colombia (It's really nice ! you can find orchids literally EVERYWHERE growing wild!) im starting to grow orchids here and last week i bought an encyclia atropurpurea for about one dolar ! but i have a huge problem ! , moss is (believe it or not) ilegal (sphagnum and spanish) so people have told me that coconut fiber is a good supplement for the moss, do you think is it good for them? or is there another thing that i can use to retain humidity on the orchids instead of moss? - Thanks and Greetings from Bucaramanga :) !
What is your potting mixture for this orchid? I just purchased one and want to give it all possible advantages! Thank you for all of your orchid videos! I love to hear Jackie in the background
Marilyn Hubbard well this orchid hasn't been repotted yet because is was purchased relatively recently, but when I repot I intend in using bark chips only, a Cattleya mix is what this Encyclia would prefer further on
Great! I already repotted mine in a bark mix (used with some of my other Cattleyas), so I will relax with this orchid as well. Thank you for your quick response.
Hi Danni, great video. Can you please tell me what is the Orchid with the light purple and yellow flowers behind the Encyclia Cordigera? I bought one very similar but I'm not sure what it is. Thanks.
Hello Danni, I saw yours and I fell in love and had to have one! So, I ordered it from eBay last week and it came today! Mine is a bit smaller than yours and hasn't flowered yet. I can't wait to see the blooms and discover what color they're going to be. Its only my 2nd species. My other one is a miltonia and pickier than the hybrids. But everyone says the enc. cordigera (Kunth) Dressler is really easy and not too picky. I hope so because the miltonia is trying my patience :p Thanks for the vid. I hope mine will be as beautiful as yours. Nina
Nina Dillard haha yes by definition the Encyclias are much easier than the Miltonia. However the Miltonia is much more forgiving than a Miltoniopsis, sooo, you can imagine how the Miltonionpsis is :P
Hi Danny I have a question for you I have an Encyclia orchid And I have a growing in the south window where he gets afternoon and evening son and I just had a couple questions because I recently mounted it on a piece of cork bark and so far it seems to be doing really well with the exception of the fact that the bulbs and the leaves are turning a bit red-ish purple i’m not sure if this is normal or if this is something I should really be concerned about I can send you pictures and such so you can see what I’m talking about on it I’m just concerned at the fact that it could be something bad. I also fertilize it was some orchid fertilizer and it’s just a liquid fertilizer that I spray on its roots and into the media as much as I can is that OK for me to do
Hi Danni, I have this for about six months now.It wasn't doing well when I brought it.Now it has tons of roots but it has not grown a new bulb till today.I'm about to give up.No new bulbs means no new flowers.I can't seem to find info on this online.
+Marlina Basir well if the orchid grew roots why would you give up? :) the new pseudobulbs will come too, but orchids don't always do what we want when we want, just have a bit more patience ;) usually orchids take about 1 year to grow a new bulb, so no worries there ;)
Hi Danny, Thanks for the video! I am feeling confused with my Sharry baby. the entire spike is in full bloom for 3 days but yet to produce any scent... it should have enough light and water, so i am not sure what else is lacking... dying to smell the scent. any idea what else i can do?
Angelin Lim I have a Sharry Baby, myself; and I've noticed that the scent fades as the day moves along. Mine is very fragrant in the morning but hardly at all, if at all, by late afternoon. I've heard it referenced as 'the chocolate orchid', but mine is much more strongly reminiscent of vanilla. If you haven't already, try giving it a sniff test very early in the day.
The bulbs look so delicious lol. Nom nom.
yes Danni very much and my collection is with fragrace orchid . yesterday i ordered Ecicleya fragrance thanks for the tips❤️👍
I just got one today!! No flowers, in clearance area. Excited to see how it goes!!
thanks Danni , i wiil order , i am just so happy that you care for us your fans, thank you💕💕
Rachel Alic thank you Rachel, glad you like my videos :D
Wonderful video, Dani! I just LOVE Encyclias. They are very reliable bloomers and are easy to grow. Also, there are many beautiful species.
Wade's Orchids indeed, I am getting the obsession for Catts, Encyclias and Brassavolas, I can see a pattern :P
This plant evolved in the same geographical area as the cacao tree. I would love to look into its genetics and see where the fragrance comes from!
Wow, it is just gorgeous. Thank you for sharing, Danni.
Gardening at Douentza how is yours coming along? :D
MissOrchidGirl One bud blasted but the others are progressing - as you say, slowly! I am itching to repot it though as it's in pure sphag.
Gardening at Douentza I am itching too, but as I understand these babies will be in bloom for the next 2 months or so :) will exercise common sense ;)
MissOrchidGirl Two months! Wow! Well that is the best news!
Your dancing lady orchids are very beautiful and many types.
I love the egg shape of the pseudobulb! There is an orchid exposition near me next week and may have to look for an encyclia or a brassavola orchid or both! I think I spend my free time researching orchids. It's real obsession! :-)
Susana1024 I know the feeling, I still do it constantly :))

Rosemary457 I'm happy to hear your orchids are doing better, I'm sure they will be healthy in no time :D thanks for watching my videos!

Mark Callaghan that is the start of a wonderful collection! :D
lol I meant to put 2 NOID's not 12 lol my cat would have a field day if I had 12 phals 😂

Andree Flores Martinez
Hello, coconut fiber or powder is very bad for orchids, toxic.
What is your potting mixture for this orchid? I just purchased one and want to give it all possible advantages! Thank you for all of your orchid videos! I love to hear Jackie in the background

Angelin Lim if you are sure it is a Sharry Baby just wait, most orchids take a few days since they open to start releasing fragrance ;)

Can anyone tell me what the orchid is behind the encyclia cordigera at 0.40??
WISHING LIST .. now HAHAHAHA :D :D
Encyclia is a Genus, not a species. I liked the video very much, because I collect Encyclias and Cattleyas.
Hi danny.plz check my comment in the previous video and answer it plz
Encyclia is a Genus, not a Species. Otherwise the video is very good
glad you enjoyed it :)
