River Ports: Interchanges on the First SUPERHIGHWAYS in Cities Skylines Reddington

- In this episode we start a new city called Redport, a small support town for the larger city of Reddington's new river port! Back before we had automobiles or railroads, freight traveled fastest BY WATER. Being inland, Reddington naturally needs a river port to thrive until the railroad age arrives.
This city starts out fresh on the Green Plains map, which comes with the base version of Cities: Skylines. Rather than being a planned and platted city, Reddington begins with just a town square and branches out on this verdant peninsula from there!

The man, the myth, the legend is back! Good to see you again, bud!
😊 thanks
Welcome back, Lee. Can’t wait to follow along again; one of the best CS creators around for sure!!
Welcome back Lee. I hope you are well and rested. Very excited for this episode. I might have a little skive in the server room at work and watch it live.
FINALLY I'm so stoked on Reddington. My favorite youtube cities skylines build. Looking forward to more!
And Lee is back!!! So excited. 😊
Good to see you back, Lee! I absolutely love the the small community of Redport.
As for the barges mod, I believe you have to connect them with ferry paths or something similar. That means you could have them only behind the waterfalls and have the different barge ports connected by road. Which is how they would have solved it way back when 🙂
Finally back on a new series, we have been waiting for you so long !!!
It’s not a new series...it’s a new town in Reddington 😁
@@LeeHawkinsPhoto Thanks for correcting me, i am just so happy to see you again publishing video 😊
@@ericrsa2348 thanks! I’m happy to be here 😁
I think next to the port would be wear houses as well as some industry to work on the stuff being imported or exported and take advantage of the cheap water power , Red port would have a water tower , cemetery , fire hall, elementary school , high school, sum sort of fishing industry and post office
Hello Lee:
Here's a question about Reddington. As this early town develops, will you as the city builder be leaving scars of old buildings and structures behind? For example an early mill would have a dam and a millrace, and a connection to a railroad or local highway. They were central features to towns, much like town squares were and they were substantial remodelers of the town's topography as a result. As towns developed the mill would go out of business but the dam, pond and mill remained, and today in lots of small towns the old mill site is forgotten, but very visible in the landscape. Are you intending to leave these kinds of old scars behind as Reddington grows?
HI-ho silver, away! I LOVE it when you use the William Tell Overture as background music. Glad to see you back Lee. Can't wait for more.
Welcome back Lee. If I may recommend something for Redport, use TM:PE to ban trucks on the first road segments that come off of the main road to prevent them from turning into the neighborhood, just to get right back on the main road a street later, at least until you upgrade the main road to paved and the game sees it as being faster to just stay on it. Not nitpicking the town design, just the game mechanic since it looks for shortest fastest route, but can't take into account the wait times for cross traffic since it can't calculate that before the truck trip starts. So distance wise it ends up shorter, but actual travel time ends up being longer, plus it's annoying to have trucks constantly driving past your house. ;P
Once again glad you’re back Lee! Now more Reddington episodes!
You're back! Been waiting for you! Love your content. Always good to see!
So glad to see you back! I'm glad you took the time you needed, but I was looking forward to this!
Great to see you back Lee!
Lee!! Welcome back! Hope you are well. Very excited to watch 😊
Welcome back I'm really looking forward to more episode of this city build without highways yet. 😊😊 Hope things are going well .
Super Excited for the new video!!!! 😁
I love your stuff! So educational always. Thanks for posting again
Awesome! can't wait.
I was happy to see this video this morning. Welcome back, Lee.
A very nice episode! Love the talk and narration 👍
Thank you Lee!
I think you're getting ocean-going ships because the map is programmed to think the broad water is a bay that connects to the Great Lakes?
Your last scene indicates the Southern Railway is going to connect to Reddington as an all-electric road. I can't wait! 😀
Cool! I really like this series.
Great to see you back, I missed your videos.
I think the port will only spawn barges, but that does not effect incoming ships from outside the map which are default or random. I don't know if there is a mod to effect incoming ships, but I think all outgoing are barges.
To be sure, frequently check the To and From in the descriptions of each boat.
Good to see you back!
Neat.
Welcome back, Lee. Hope you're well and everything is okay with your family.
I can't wait for the next episode
Welcome back, Lee!! We've missed you ✨
He's back! Yes!
Giving a like purely based on the fact you posted. Missed your videos heaps. Looking forward to more.
OK, so 15th was today and not tomorrow... should I be worried? Nah, just meant I got to watch a few hours earlier! Like the way the town is being grown very much and great to hear those laconic tones gracing the speakers once more. Yee h...mmmmmmm
That was some key Quay pronunciation there :D
Lee is BACK!!!
I think the algorithm did you dirty, lee. You should have way more than 6k views after two weeks.
Yeah...I have a really high CTR on this episode, but it has low watch time...the algorithm therefore determined in its infinite wisdom that people don’t actually want to watch this when they start watching it 😂 I don’t get it though...it’s a shorter video, so OF COURSE the watch time is lower 🙄
The Fox River in Wisconsin runs north.
Nice to see you back Lee! Hope you're well. Have you previously made a city where the original starting point is only served by a port or was that someone else?
Perhaps before the railroad they would’ve built canals bypassing the rapids?
Have you considered manually adjusting the speed limit on some of the dirt roads?
Would there be a coaching inn and stables on a major crossroads in that time period between Reddington and Redport?
I like your laugh lol
finally
Really enjoying this series, sad I’m getting to the end :(
Not the end! I just released a new one today for you 😉 with more to come!
@@LeeHawkinsPhoto it was great!
Mopsquitos, malaria, floods.... Anything permanent would want to be out of the flood plain.
Redport kinda looks like baby yoda when looking at it from the south
les go
path to light house? maybe a park later?
More!
Coming!
Love from INDIA ❤❤❤
lee is back, but what about 5b1c round 4?
Yes this is not the video I was expecting for.
I’m way behind on that...sorry! It’s coming!
@@LeeHawkinsPhoto Coming, but when? There has been two weeks with no video…
@@dalfgan817 you should get another Reddington video Monday, and then 5B1C after that. I’ve had other non-RUclips projects taking up my time lately, which should wrap very soon. I hate to commit to timeframes because YT isn’t the only thing I have going on, and most of the deadlines are just ones I set for myself.
You need quay anarchy
In America, it is either Kee or Kway. Euros need some pretensions to superiority even if we keept them safe for nearly the last century.
Do you think an M1 iMac can run cities skylines with no problem? 🤔
yes, the m1 mini runs it well so id assume the iMac can too
@@PacificNatureTV Do you think it was experience any kind of lag? I would only use 2 mods. I wouldn't want my iMac to get overheated. That's if I ever purchase one
@@alanl9497 I dont know about M1 Imac but my mac book pro (M1) can run it without problem. And I have about 5 different mods and around 20-30 assets
so confused
Your naming scheme is irritating, at least ad at the end some "(...) - Redingtone ep. X"
Sorry...there are drawbacks to that for me with the Almighty Algorithm 😕...but each series of videos is in order in a playlist 😃
@@LeeHawkinsPhoto Each day I come closer to moving away from this hellish site to some bitchute or something, if not for 17 years library of content I would go off no-brainer. Well if the Almighty says so I'm not gonna interfere xD Nice quality content btw 👍
@@10hawell believe me...I would go too if the financial incentives were there.
