I'm so happy for you and your wife! Thank you for sharing and keeping us updated in your life. I love your videos with Smokey. So informative for parrot owners. Your tree is beautiful. There's no need to apologise for putting it up in November. It's your home and your choice. Your back yard is gorgeous. I love your idea of a dome shaped aviary. Smoky is one lucky bird to be in your care. Thank you.
Looking forward to seeing how Smokey goes with the whole change of home since so much online says they near die if they have any change. So can't wait to see a well cared for African Grey response to it all! I bet she will love it all once she's settled in.
My African Grey is almost 40 years old. For almost 30 years he lived in the same home. I moved to a new apartment 8 years ago. I was kind of worried for him but gladly he didn't seem to care at all. From day one he was the same busy bird as he always was. I guess it depends from bird to bird.
Oh she settled in the first day! She's actually loving it here. I was a little uncertain about how she would react and whether she would try to make contact calls repeatedly throughout the day. However, she was calm and adjusted the moment she arrived. I think a lot of it has to do with how much change they are exposed to when they are younger. I also think having her flighted gives her a lot of confidence and helps with her adjusting as well.
The flowering shrub in your backyard is called lantana. It likes full sun and it blooms maybe year round. In Texas it blooms in the fall or starts late August and blooms through September. I love the golden yellow one (the flowers are yellow, the plant leaves are the usual green!) my mom planted 30 years ago and it still thrives! Congratulations on the house. It is so lovely! Smokey will love anything you do. She seems very content!
Wow congratulations! House looks so nice! I live in Minnesota and I have to keep my birds inside for half the year 😕. I wish I lived in California like you so I could give them a bigger outdoor aviary but it's too cold. Cant wait to see your new aviary!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! You have been truly blessed. Love your portrait wall as well....you did a great job. Enjoy your first Christmas together in your forever home!
I get so much value out of your videos. You seem like one of the nicest guys on RUclips. I truly hope you, your wife, and pets have an amazing life! Your house looks lovely - CONGRATULAIONS!
I live in Orange County! Great place to live but expen$ive. I've lived here since 1958 (parents moved to Seal Beach from North Dakota) ... and at 68 years old, I can say I have been blessed to live here! Grew up (Marina High class of 1970) , later married and raised my kids in Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley ... (now retired Tustin Ave and 22 fwy) Your home is amazing! I'm excited for you guys. 💜😁🖖🐾🦜🪴🌺 Congratulations and best of the best to you!
We are so close! We might cross paths one day. My wife and I love the Homegoods store in Tustin. I agree that it's a great place to live and the variety of food places we have here is AMAZING!
I want to thank you so much for teaching me about my lovebirds. I have had my lovebirds for over a year now and I am really grateful that you are putting out all this information about pet care, it’s really helpful. One of my birds died. His name is Ai and we believe he had a heart attack from a seeded diet. Thank you for helping me understand my babies. Don’t worry, we have another lovebird, a deutch blue peach faced lovebird. I honestly really love your understanding of things and significant symbols like the little stuffies that represent your pets, and even little things like the beautiful rose and your ornaments. You’re very peaceful, it’s very sweet. Have a safe and happy holiday, -The Dancing Dragon
Congratulations on your new home. Beautiful back yard. Smokey will love her new aviary. You could always transplant your plants to another area. Best of luck. Enjoy your videos.
Thank you for sharing your home with us. I don't have an African grey but I do have birds and I use your techniques on my birds, so I wanted to thank you.
Congratulations on your family’s new home! My family usually puts up our Christmas tree right before Thanksgiving. It just helps to bring in the holiday spirit early on. Happy Holidays!
First off, congrats! The house and back yard are beautiful. I am glad you had such a positive experience buying it. That's a good omen for spending the rest of your life there. Secondly, I am so happy to see there are more people out there with OCD when it comes to cleaning :) Have fun building the aviary. Cant wait to see it.
Congrats on your new home! On the stocking, you can always take it to get personalized with embroidery for Smokey’s face. I would offer but I don’t know how to sew 😂 . Best wishes for a great new year ! How exciting!
Oh yay John, this is fantastic! Wot a gorgeous home 🏡 wishing u both all the best and more! Looking 4ward to future content! Kisses to smokes pweese 😍 🐦🙏🏡💙🏡🙏🐦
I wish you all the very best in your new home. You can keep the rose plant as it looks good and cut down the rest. You are right about the parasites. Please be careful while doing the aviary. Do more videos when you are ready.
🎉Congrats on your new home🎉 I think a dome aviary will definitely be better. It will look better imo and it seems like birds use more of the aviary when it's dome shaped.
Your home is gorgeous! Please save your rose plant. You can propagate it from a stem. Also you can leave the rose in the aviary. I believe birds love to eat Rose's and why not have natural plants? Let me know if I'm wrong. Thanks...
I was thinking about leaving a plant in the aviary but my experience is that no matter what I do, Smokey will end up destroying the plant. I might give it another shot.
Congratulations John, on becoming a homeowner here in So. Calif., it's obviously beautiful! That's definitely not a small feat for sure. I bought my home here in So. Calif. as well, so I understand. I am looking to install an aviary in my yard for my Congo African Grey and Galah as well and I'm not sure where to buy from. I can't wait to see Smoky's new setup!
I always get so excited reading a comment and seeing there's someone else here from So Cal. We might cross paths one day! If you google "wingz aviary", I've used their aviary before and it held up good. Another option is the "Suncatcher bird aviary". I'm excited to have it set up but not so much about the process of putting it up and prepping the area (LOL).
Grats man ,me and my african grey ,Coco over here in N.C.have learnt so much from your videos ,you have been a huge help for me learning dos and mostly don'ts with greyz ,so thanks and good luck homeownership is so great !
My brothers live in NC and I was actually just there last Fall to visit (close to Asheville). It was beautiful! And homeownership is definitely great :)
Hi we use something called Aubiose it’s extremely clean and dust free only needs to be replaced once a week. We pick out poops daily using a silicone glove and a poop bag it’s odorless safe for the parrot and we only put it in tray depth
Wishing you the very best in your beautiful new home 🏡 ❤. There is a website that makes personalized stockings that look like your Parrot and has the Parrot's name on it. Can't find it for now. Have a birdiful Christmas 🎄.

wishing u and your family the best in your new home !! i just had one question though, in a few months i’ll be leaving for london (i’m in asia right now) and i’d loved to know how i can take my grey along? is there an option?? i’d really appreciate it if you got back to me! regards xx
Hi there. When I moved from Germany to US, I had to put my Amazon parrot into quarantine for a month! It sucked. You should contact England's DEFRA, since I think they regulate pet "imports". Good luck!
