Hi Smokey! I’m so glad you are back! @wingsNpaws I’m so glad you are making videos again. I watched your channel a lot and it has inspired me to get my African Grey Lelu. She is amazing 😉. Please check out my videos and comment your honest opinion. Me and Lelu have a long way to go so please give me input on my videos. I’ve only had her for 6 months and she is 3 years old. Any input on my videos would be greatly appreciated 😊

Even though I don't have a bird I love watching and listening to Smokey. I have seen other bird videos but You and Smokey are the ones I love. There is something so sweet and clean and lovely about Smokey.

Happy bird. My TAG has an enclosure, a bird house of sorts, inside his very large cage. It is a place for him to hide if he is scared, or just feels like disappearing into a private space. He loves it.

@@wingsNpaws Thank you, I love your idea with drilling holes in the perch, I'm going to do that in his cage and on his free stand perch trees. I made one of his perches swing, he's balance has improved and you can see him push in to it to make it swing harder. Lots of fun, we both learn.
Hey! :) I am so happy to you and Smokey again. I was missing you guys and thinking of you... I am glad to see Smokey is just as beautiful and smart as ever and you such lovely, patient and caring parent. I would write about my bird, but I dont have one :( My dream is to have one, one day! Thank you for coming back and uploading a video, it is really so nice to see you guys again and know that you are doing fine!
4 male budgies + a 5th rescue male currently in my foster home on behalf of PerroquetSecours, the non-profit that handles rescues in our neck of the woods: all flighted, they have a LOT of fun chasing each other around in my (very) big living room. Not as tame as Smokey, but they step up, are pretty good at recall, and are well adapted to life in captivity. Delighted to hear from you again.
Greco (TAG) and I just moved on to a 45ft boat. This means we both get a lot less space. We are navigating creating a safe enriching lifestyle for us both.
Earl Grey is enjoying having everyone home during quarantine. He loves riding on my shoulder and visiting my husband in his home office. He is "remodeling" a cardboard box on top of his cage and spends hours shredding the phone book I put inside it.
Glad your back. Need your help with my bird. I dont have it a long time and got it from lady that past away. Moved alot between kids and started pluking her feathers. Also bits. If you can help
Just got my first african grey (Casper) a couple weeks ago. He's only three months, but your biting and desensitizing videos are a great visual for me.
I adopted my 15 year old guy 7 months ago and he came clipped, so im looking forward him having his wings back but it´s going to take a while because his feathers keep breaking. He will free fly at some point (it could take years though) but for the time being, I take him outdoors a lot so he has some sunshine and gets used to being outdoors. He really loves being on trees on sunny days. We live in Ireland so he lives indoors and we really envy you for the sunshine you get.
Welcome back! I wish we saw more of smokey though 🙈 What other branches can you use? Coz it seems some wood can be toxic. You are using guava, I am assuming that is safe. What other wood would also be safe? Edit: ok you answered that haha. I typed as I was still watching ;) and we also saw more of the bird, good! Hehe thought it was just in the intro. Thanks for sharing!
I have a 4 month old cockatiel in a cage indoors (New York city life). He is learning to fly, his wings were clipped at the pet store, so we have to wait for his feathers to grow back. Thanks for the great content, great inspiration for how to regard my cockatiel Nova. I was wondering where you live to be able to have an outdoor aviary. Furthermore, how did you decide on an African Grey vs other birds? Have you owned other birds?
Oh my gosh, I miss you and Smokey so much! I watched all your videos before deciding to adopt a parrot as a first time owner. Now, I have a double yellow head amazon for a year now and that was the last time you posted your last video.
Love seeing your calm, & well cared for and loved, birdie. My little girl, a green-cheek conure, has been feisty since we got her as a baby. She likes to nibble on our fingers on occasion but doesn't really destroy her toys (I have to try the fresh branches-idea). She can be incredible cute one minute and a pain in the xxx the next; but since she's very vocal we have some good arguments :) She usually wins.
I found your channel, because I was looking up information about what to do if a bird bites you. I ended up really liking(and subscribing) this channel, because it also has a lot of other informative, interesting and cute videos and I just love seeing Smoky interacting with you♡
Im getting my first african grey parrot in about a week and still i cant find a concrete answer on if they can handle cold weather. I live in california its not really cold here during winter months but it can drop from 50F to 40F do i need a space heater? Do i need bird heater? Do i need a perch heater? A bird cage cover? One more thing, do they need vitamins even they eat vegetable and fruits instead of processed pellets? If so what would you recommend? I hope i can get a response , i have been watching your videos quiet awhile now and ive learn so much. I know you can answer all my questions, thank you so much😊
I like your aviary. Where did you got it? And what is it that you cover the roof? Acctng to the vet my cag needs more sunlight and I think this aviary is perfect for him. His present aviary is kinda corner type and lacks direct sunlight.
Not kowing anything about birds or grey behaviour i handreared my grey (after losing a 19yr old cat to old age) and would have been lost without your advice and general info videos. My now 2yr old congo grey male is deathly afraid of water in any kind of spray can/bottle the shower cubicle, as well as or soft rain/mist outside (warm or cold). I have figured out to hand drip water on him when he presents with sower behaviour over his waterbowl on his tree stand and now loves showering by being dripped from my hand! Stil afraid of rain or spray/water cans, but hopefully we wil get there oneday! Love your work Please post more when you are able!
My lil guy is a red factor sun conure. He's super sweet and cuddly. He is 6 mos old, loves to eat, and is very friendly and we are currently working on an outdoor aviary!!
Thanks for sharing Smokey with us!💚 Quick question: Is there any value to covering some of the aviary on top so Smokey feels safe from aerial predators and/or to provide shade all day? Thanks a bunch!🙏🏼😊
Great question! There is always some shade in her aviary because of the tall plants and trees we planted around it. I use transparent corrugated roofing on the top so technically, it is covered but you can see through because it's a clear material. I went with this because it allows sunlight in, allowing the aviary to have natural light and birds need sunlight to synthesize vitamin D3. In addition, I want her to be able to see the sky and the birds that live in our area and vice versa. If she were to ever accidentally fly off, the local birds will be less likely to mob her and give chase if they're familiar with her. In the event of a fly-off (gosh I hope it never happens), she will also not be spooked by crows, ravens, balloons, blimps, etc since she's seen them inside her aviary.
wingsNpaws Makes perfect sense, I’m delighted you mentioned this as a counterpoint to hiding a bird’s presence from above. Thank you for the reply and for your genius with these amazing creatures. 🙏🏼😊🕊
Cody is a 4yr old, tame, flighted BFA. He's very bonded to me. Unfortunately, no outdoor aviary but he spends all day out of his cage climbing on his natural wood stand
Hello, I bought a 1 and 1/2 year old African grey 1 month ago. He is very nice, does not bite, and lets us pet him. His only problem is that he doesn’t step up. He will come on my shoulder, but even after that he won’t step up. How can I solve this problem? Please answer as soon as possible thank you and I’m glad your back!
We have two new African Grey siblings, Smoak and Stella. They spend their night in their cage, but their days are spent flying freely around our home. I want to know if I should clip their wings or leave them as free fliers and what are the pros and cons of both. BTW: Your aviary is inspiring!
I have a question about my African grey, I think he is comfortable with me, but he bites and makes squeaky noises when he leaves he kinda lets me touch him inside the cage but when I try to Pet him out side I think that he thinks I am trying to hurt him he also lets me hand feed him and lastly he won’t stand up on my hand so what should I do (plz help)
Question? My very young female CAG is slowly starting to warm up to me. I don’t push her in any way and if she steps away I respect that and don’t push her. She will take food from my hands and let me pet her feet and stomach but will bite if I reach behind her. I’ve only had her for less than 2 weeks. She was hand fed but not tamed. So…she isn’t crazy about perching/stepping up. Should this come on her time or should I push a bit. Also, her wings are pretty long and she can get some low distance in flying. She often lands into walls and sometimes HARD. Should I clip her because if this?
Hey, I just want to say, you and Smokey have taught me a ton of how to interact and live with my birds! I have had two budgies. One passed away yesterday, our other budgie is 6 years old, we don't know if we should get another Budgie as Aurora is already pretty old. We are planning on getting a Grey soon. Is keeping a Grey and a Budgie a good idea? Thank you!
No birds right now as landlord won't allow them in such a quiet building. The last bird I hand raised was Hades the cockatiel, he learned "mommy doesn't love you if you poop on her" so he always pooped on a paper towel before getting on my shoulder.
Well, happy to see you again guys...I'm planning to get an African Grey shortly. Which would be better an indoor aviary/ cage or an outdoor aviary. In a day how much time Smokey spend in her aviary!?
I guess that would depend on where you live. There is no point in getting an outdoor aviary if she's not able to spend a lot of time in it due to extreme weather. However, if that is not an issue, an outdoor aviary is easier to clean and your bird benefits from having natural sunlight (important for getting vitamin D3).
You have influenced me and my African greys relationship so much. SO GLAD YOU ARE BACK

Quick question: Is there any value to covering some of the aviary on top so Smokey feels safe from aerial predators and/or to provide shade all day?
Thanks for making this video! May I know what’s the dimension of your out door aviary?
So happy to see you again 💓 💗 💖 ❤ Smokey and have a birdiful day 😊.
Sunny, my little Quaker was sent over the Birdie Rainbow from having Lymphoma. 💔😭💔
I'm sorry for your loss. 💔 Hope you feel better soon. God bless!
@@DiverseKitty Thank you so much. 💔💚💔
So sorry to hear about Sunny. I hope Smokey and I was able to bring a little joy to your morning.
@@wingsNpaws Yes, and I can't thank you enough. Have missed seeing Smokey and hope to see her again soon. 💚💚
Yesssss

Cody is a 4yr old, tame, flighted BFA. He's very bonded to me. Unfortunately, no outdoor aviary but he spends all day out of his cage climbing on his natural wood stand
Hi Laurie! Glad to see you're still watching us! Cody is a lucky amazon!
yaaaaaaaay
Hello, I bought a 1 and 1/2 year old African grey 1 month ago. He is very nice, does not bite, and lets us pet him. His only problem is that he doesn’t step up. He will come on my shoulder, but even after that he won’t step up. How can I solve this problem? Please answer as soon as possible thank you and I’m glad your back!
What plants/ tree do you have there? Also at night what do you do? Regaurding temp.
Hope see more videos soon
I hope so too!
Where are you getting the branches? What kind of wood?
Good job smokes
My bird copies my dad saying lets go so one time my mom went outside the house thinking my dad was coming
I have three male flighted Alexandrines. They have a massive indoor cage. They all get play time outside the cage daily.
Thanks for sharing Lisa!
Thank you!
How larger is your cage and where did you purchase it?
No birds right now as landlord won't allow them in such a quiet building. The last bird I hand raised was Hades the cockatiel, he learned "mommy doesn't love you if you poop on her" so he always pooped on a paper towel before getting on my shoulder.
Thanks for joining us this morning! That's amazing how fast they learn. Enjoy the peace and quiet!
@@wingsNpaws Thank you for your reply. I live in Kerala, India. The average temperature here is low 22'c to max 37'c.
Hello. I've missed you & Smokey
Hi Shirley! It's been a long time. I'm so glad you're still with us!
