I'm thinking of putting some cash in stocks, I was at Salt Shack and I overheard some friends saying it's ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? I’ve been sitting on over $545K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy into stocks or do I wait for another opportunity?

I agree. Based on personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $1m in a well diversified portfolio, that has experienced exponential growth. It is not about having money to invest in stocks,but also you need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have strong hands to back it up.

Very true, I find myself lucky enough exposed to money management at an early age. Worked full time when I was 19, purchased first home at 28, fast forward time...l'm 57 now, got laid off March 2020 amidst lockdown, a blessing in disguise. At once, I consulted an advisory firm to match me with a planner to stay afloat and with subsequent investments, I'm only 15% short of $1m as of today.

Steven Mark Ryan discloses owning a ton of Tesla. Lekander manages a fund that shorts Tesla. Both have a significant financial conflict of interest, but they both sincerely believe what they say about Tesla (clearly), which is why they hold those positions in the first place. When you say "Hmmm..." you imply Lekander lacks sincerity. I think you and Ryan have that wrong.

Think about it, in one week Tesla updated 4 or 5 million cars to the new FSD. As soon as robo taxi is ready in one week they could have up to 5 million robo taxis on the road.

Soooo... a company with billions in cash, no debt and that makes a profit will go bankrupt? That's more or less impossible.
What he's arguing is valuation and that's a different question, he's arguing that it should be valued less, which is a "fair" argument, but what he says is that that they can go bankrupt without providing a scenario where they would go bankrupt.

Well, one scenario I can see Tesla not doing well in is if Elon Musk dies due to his horrendous health.
I mean Think about it. . . What does Tesla in its current incarnation do without Musk's cult-status?
Every other project Musk has in his belt is more or less a Tesla ad.
Due to his celebrity status , His companies get the benefits of Network effects despite on paper not touching one another.
That said : If Apple was able to replace jobs, Tesla can replace Musk and turn the company into a corporation and less of a Mythic thing.
@@Darth_Bateman First of all, non of that was what he said. Second, even if he disappeared TODAY, that would not jeopardize the company, just the future plans. Your example with Apple is quite apt, it in no way caused Apple to go bankrupt, though one could argue that they have not delivered new revolutionary products in the same way as with/under Jobs.
To make a case for bankruptcy one would need to argue that they would start making losses and without a prospect of making a profit in the future. That is quite unreasonable and he didn't even argue something like that.

It's definitely overvalued as a tech stock, and will even out but likely only after a stock split much like Amazon.
That said, I think Tesla can stand to shake Musk sooner than later.

Just a little factoid. The ships exporting Tesla's carry 7600 cars. So, just 7 ships in ports or sailing around Africa because of the Red Sea would account for the entire delivery to production variance.

I think it is a big possibility that Uber will like to partner with Tesla on RB/Fsd, otherwise another company will partner with Tesla and impact Uber. Just like Uber has impacted the traditional taxi, the Robotaxi will impact Uber.
Hertz is well suited to operate a robo-taxi fleet because they are used to buying the right types/amounts of cars, cleaning them, selling them off, running loyalty programs, managing damage/mess, and so on. Cleaning and prep is big, but maybe bots just do this.

You actually get credit in your account if you short a stock, it doesn't cost you interest. Just wanted to clarify
Tesla are unveiling Gen 3 on 8 August because prototype vehicles will be visible on US roads shortly after as the production pilot starts in Austin in Q4... Look for Tesla recruitment of Prototype Vehicle Operators all over USA. Both $25,000 car and first robotaxi will be the same vehicle however this will have steer by wire making the steering wheel and other controls an optional extra (no mechanical linkage). Elon is playing with the sceptics by announcing what is both $25,000 car and robotaxi reveal! LoL this will be fun. Note that models S3XY cannot be used with unsupervised autonomy without physical modification as the steering system relies on a single motor and belt drive to control steering angle. Steer by wire removes this issue by utilising TWO motors thus providing the required redundancy for safe unsupervised operation.
If they want a “Pro” Tototype driver in rural Nova Scotia, I’m available…
Agree with most of what you're saying, except for the mechanical redundancy comment. Why would the exisiting fleet of S3XY Models require redundant motors and belt drives? Makes no sense. We drive them now without that redundancy. With FSD taking control of steering that doesn't make these mechanical elements any more or less likely to fail.
The mechanical linkage is not the point of failure, it is in the brain of the self driving vehicle. That is why the FSD computers ALREADY have two chips, two power supplies, and redundant network wiring.
If the robo taxis go with steer-by-wire, then THAT is what will then require the physical redundancy you spoke of. Guess what? That's exactly what the Cybertruck has, and so will robotaxis and the compact (same platform).
@@RobertLoPinto You answered your own question in your first sentence LoL... YOU drive the S3XY now WITH mechanical linkage! If the motor or belt fail in S3XY then the human driver IS the redundancy via the mechanical linkage. If S3XY was being operated unsupervised and the single motor or belt failed then there will be no redundancy (no human driver). With the steer by wire there is no mechanical linkage to fall back on however the mechanical linkage has been replaced by a second motor and drive belt to provide the required redundancy. Tesla has experienced many steering motor or belt failures NHTSA are actively investigating how widespread the issue is... The driver gets a message "Steering Assistance Degraded" or words to that effect and they have to fight to control the steering via the manual linkage to safely bring the vehicle to rest. So to recap S3XY models categorically do not have the required steering system redundancy to safely operate UNSUPERVISED autonomously!!!
@@jonbowes5999 Sorry, still makes no sense. If the mechanical steering fails in my Model Y while I am supervising an FSD drive, how does me being behind the wheel help that? I wouldn't be able to steer either. This is a potentially catastrophic scenario that is also extremely rare.
Note: I am NOT talking about steer-by-wire systems. Today's S3XY vehicles are not steer-by-wire.
@@RobertLoPinto If the mechanical linkage in S3XY as with all other manually operated vehicles fail nothing will help! However with regular mechanical inspections these mechanical linkages almost never fail... Electric motors and drive belts especially when fully enclosed inside a housing a) are difficult to inspect to detect faults b) fail way more often. Like I already said tesla have already had many failures of motor or belt drive resulting in drivers having to fall back on the manual linkage to control the vehicle. We are willing to accept the risk of the mechanical system failing as this risk is very low, failure of a single electric motor system is too high a risk otherwise Tesla would have stuck with ONE motor and belt in the steer by wire system!

It’s realistic to believe that it will take 4 years or more for RoboTaxi to be financially impactful to the bottom line. This assumes additional development, construction of production, and ramping of said production will occur within that timeframe. It also assumes Tesla continues its practice of fully developing a technology before beginning plant construction.

IMO, TSLA investors (retail or institutional) require a personal-level conviction and significant enthusiasm to investigate and research the potential for themselves. Traditional assumptions/formulae are inadequate for an accurate valuation of Tesla. If nothing else, just ask yourself why Ron Baron took so long to buy in?

If the public thought the Cybertruck looked weird, they are going to blow their minds on the Robotaxi. The Robotaxi is going to look soo weird. It's going to be optimized for efficient manufacturing, rugged materials, no luxury extras. Tesla will be able to make this thing for way less than anyone thinks. This is why Elon doesn't think it would be a good basis for an affordable mass market sales vehicle. The Robotaxis will not be for sale, just for the Tesla fleet. With new more efficient manufacturing technology, optimus, the Model 3 will come down in price to become the mass market sales vehicle.
