Agreed... haven't been watching in awhile so... missed it.
I live in a rural area where you have to drive over a cattle guard to even get onto my dirt road. The first time I used fsd it drove extremely slow and cautiously all the way to the cattle guard and then froze. Today, it drove almost perfectly the whole way, crossed the cattle guard, drove down the dirt road, avoided a huge pothole, right up to the gate of my house. Just mind blowing.
Thanks for the report. City-dwelling haters assert that Teslas can’t work in the country and they can’t charge! I guess haters assume country homes don’t have electricity 😂

In many cases, paramedics are helpful. Getting to the hospital isn't the entire answer.
You're right, but now you don't have to wait for them. Depending on where you live, this can add another eternity. The guy in the vid drove 13 miles for help. He would've had to wait that long just to get help. Plus now he doesn't have to pay stupid ambulance fees.
@@user-fd7jc9mr7m Still, ambulance can cut through traffic. Maybe in this scenario, it was the best option, but with a congested road going to the hospital, the car would have been stuck. I'm happy this is a valid usecase of FSD, but it can't replace ambulances.

Really. Ambulances. By design ambulances are required TO PERFORM "AGAINST" not "WITH", in driving/riding scenarios.
That already exists, except you don't have to wait for the ambulance to come to you. The only thing missing are medical staff or first responders, but if the car gets you direct to the hospital it's still great, assuming one can stay conscious until arrival.
Funny that Elon says Tesla is an AI, Robotics and Energy Storage company……no mention of cars….Wall St be like “Tesla’s just a car company”….opposite ends of the intelligence spectrum!

SMR, there are now 23 states that have passed laws allowing AV testing and/or deployment, according to the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association.
We are also getting access to 12.3 in Canada, not just USA as you mentioned.

I use Advanced autopilot on my 45 minute highway commute to work. That's an hour and a half round trip. Even the relatively basic advanced autopilot (when compared to fsd) has saved me from accidents that could have been serious. It also helps me daily in removing some of the mental load of driving when tired after work. I'm in Australia and I will be purchasing fsd as soon as it is available here.
Can't help but wonder why the guy didn't call the ambulance and instead used FSD in that situation. Probably cause America's health care costs are a joke and using an ambulance without insurance would be expensive /s Of course, doesn't take away the point that the current FSD capability is quite good and what a godsend it can be.
Also I agree with Douma that the tech working well is by far the biggest obstacle. But I don't discount the possibility of politics blocking autonomy because of fearmongering by those who would lose their jobs to it. After all, politics can often lead to irrational results.

I imagine in the future that you’ll be able to get in your Tesla and say Grok take me to the closest emergency room. Grok will ask if this is a medical emergency and when you say yes, it will drive to the hospital will flashing lights and sirens (from boom speaker) in medical emergency mode and will even disregard traffic laws but do so in a safe manner.

I have seen FSD do some jaw dropping things. There are little areas that I am sure will be solved with the extra data. I can’t wait!

They dont use FSD miles for training at all. You cant train FSD on itself.

@@steezmonster92 the data they are gathering is from humans driving well. Which is very useful for training the AI. But there is definitely a pull-up-the-ladder-after-you-climbed-it effect going on. The OEMs cant use their fleet to get the data out, they simply dont have the tech, and once people start really using FSD there wont be any data left to get. Other manufacturers would have to buy the data from Tesla. I doubt that would happen though. As for the graph showing cumulative miles driven on FSD; its mostly meh. You can compare it to cruise or waymo but at this point everyone knows Tesla is the only serious competitor in autonomy. I'd be more interested in a graph showing FSD as a fraction of total miles driven, miles driven by Tesla cars, miles driven by FSD enabled cars, and so forth. Just Tesla selling more cars will make the cumulative number go up. What you want to see is people increasingly using FSD instead of driving themselves. Other graphs are better for that.

On others catching up to Tesla: The worst design mistakes I saw in 40 years of IT were always those that ignored impedance. Nothing happens immediately, not even the smallest fastest lines of machine code. Interesting story. FSD requires you have your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel or it will disengage. That must have been challenging while having an attack.

If the answer is yes, you are indicating a willingness to use Emergency Discretion as a driver. It’s no different than the discretion used to get to emergency medical care using FSD.

This week, my friends and I had an interesting encounter with autonomous vehicles in Phoenix. We decided to use a Waymo to visit the botanical gardens, renowned for their beauty. However, to our surprise, the vehicle mistakenly took us to a strip club instead. Clearly, this is a glitch that warrants investigation. Interestingly, when we shared our experience with some women working there, they mentioned using autonomous vehicles to safely return home, avoiding potential encounters with unwanted attention. This novel use case hadn't occurred to me before, leaving me feeling optimistic about the technology's versatility.
An insider would be an approved insider and get on famously with Elon in spreading the thoroughly approved word....... right ?. As in selective 'information' I guess.
I think Gene is right, the biggest factor in TIMING eventually seems to be approvals. Europe will see the benefits once it's level 3 quality, but they still will need months or longer to get the laws changed which are now set up for ADAS in stead of FSD systems.

I agree. Based on personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $1m in a well diversified portfolio, that has experienced exponential growth. It is not about having money to invest in stocks,but also you need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have strong hands to back it up.

Just few days in 2024 seems like AXMTGPT did everything right to make sure we will have a very green and strong year and who knows how far that road will go, finding a good one has never been that easy and yet there will be 80-90% or more not having the knowledge at the right time. Well politics may not be as bad of a problem since Tesla is a global company… the USA and Germany may NOT be the first country to embrace FSD and Dave lives and travel costs of its citizenry!
My fsd make sus decisions sometimes example today not sure why it did not see that we were approaching a yellow light and just haul ass. I ran a red light once before because I just let it to it thing to see if it would abruptly come to a stop. It’s usually good with lights and stop signs but after these two incidents I think it’s clear why it’s called “fds supervised” (not sure if this is because I have it on assertive mode.)
Another example, usually on my way home I have to exit the highway into a one way road and make an u-turn immediately after to get to my house, but for some reasons after exiting the highway fsd always tries to switch over to the right lane when I should stay on the left in order to make the u turn.
The part on X where fsd offers to park kind of threw me off, maybe it’s different with hospitals and big land marks but in my experience fsd struggle the most in parking lot and usually doesn’t offer to park for me until I’m already half way in my spot. Which is understandable as this isn’t Tesla’s main focus for fsd atm.
Overall I’m impressed with fsd progress as a whole but the supervised parts still holds a lot of weight as it’s still prone to making a lot of silly mistakes.

Somebody has to talk Elon into creating a division that would produce household appliances. Remember when General Electric's appliances were in almost every home? Imagine TESLA washer/dryers, ranges, refrigerators, air conditioners, heaters, etc. on and on. Let's face it, all of these things are going to be created for his rockets, living facilities on the Moon and Mars.

Imagine if these companies worked together where your Apple watch sensed your impending heart attack and summoned a FSD Tesla for you. Tesla pulls up and door opens. Your watch tells you to get in. Meanwhile your watch sends Heart data to the Hospital ahead of your arrival. You are driven there autonomously, while still fine because your watch caught the problem before it developed and got worse. You get there and the door opens, you get out not knowing what this is about. Doctor greets you and addresses the problem.

I was sure last year would end terrible for me but I think AXMTGPT is spot on with what they do and how they do it. Cant say for how long its going to work and for sure it is overyhped right now but even if just half a year or something it would be smart to ride the wave and then jump away eventually, but the reason why this is smart right now is because its so cheap, wont ever find a better entry than now
