      So few people appreciate the fact that Tesla is solving the world’s most difficult problems. They get butt hurt when Tesla doesn’t roll out the Semi or CT or FSD or Roadster 2 exactly when Elon thought they would. They can’t wrap their head around the difficulty, as well as the technology advances needed to make these rollouts possible. Who else in the world is solving these problems? Nobody.

    There are so many people today who are against the idea of computers driving vehicles instead of humans primarily because they grew up with computers that sucked. The younger generation is growing up with computers that do not suck by comparison, especially when you take that concept to the comparison between good and bad drivers. If the question is framed as “are you willing to let autonomous cars kill 4000 people on America’s roads every year” then the answer you’re going to get is “hell no”. If the question is framed as “if a technology is proven to make your daughter 10 times safer on the road would you support that technology?“ Then you will get the opposite answer.

Maybe LIDAR? Or FLIR? Otherwise what happens when you're in a robotaxi and it starts raining? It would have to pull over and wait till the weather clears and then you'd have to get out and wipe off the cameras. That could be a few minutes to many hours. Why does no one realize this? There must be some kind of instrument that could prevent Tesla from being legally responsible for deaths caused by FSD. Oh yeah, it's called insurance. When FSD is demonstrated to be a hundred or more times safer than people, make users sign a wavier stating that their own insurance covers all such events that show FSD was responsible for death, injury and damages. The insurance companies will save so much on payouts because of FSD that this should be a simple matter of fund allocation: the results of which will still be increased profits for them.

    • @darylfoster7944
      @darylfoster7944 Месяц назад

      Why should the user take responsibility for being a passenger? You don't sign a waiver when you get on an airplane. If FSD is L5, then Tesla should accept full responsibility.

      Why should Tesla take responsibility for it? Do gun manufacturers take responsibility for their products? No. My friend had a Glock blow up in their hand. Sent it in to the manager in Atlanta and it disappeared, never to be returned or followed up on. But that is besides the point that you are missing.
      The point is that everyone benefits from the increased safety, especially the insurance companies so why shouldn't insurance insure the safety when it is so much more safe than the average human driver.

      I believe eventually technology, which enables driving inthick fog will be added to the autonomy stack. However, since today you can’t drive safely in thick fog exceeding a certain speed, the FSD software should be tweaked to account for that, of course. Truth of the matter is that way too many people drive way too fast in fog or other low visibility conditions. This, in fact, contributes to deadly accidents. In the future, I envision a hybrid, autotomy stack, which does not engage the non-visual technology until needed, for example, in heavy fog.

      @stevenhamerlinck6832 Месяц назад

      GPT4/5/.. will not (and no LLM) will ever reach AGI. There is a lot of capabilities that LLM's can't handle or are incapable of (by the very nature of their design) that are required for AGI (based on the industry definition of AGI and according to one of the biggest AI brains in the world -> Yann lecun). look up the interview between Lex Fridman and Yann to learn more. FSD is very very hard ( a LOT harder than a GPT ) but it isn't AGI neither. The masterplan behind the complete history of releasing FSD Bèta to user with very low risk-scores is that you want a high-quality driver provide the video's that will be used for training the FSD AI Model; You don't want "teenager" driving skills being used to train your AI model because later on, you'll end up with thousands / millions of hours of low-quality driving video's that will translate into "teenage-skill level FSD" driving. That is not what anyone would want, certainly not clients and regulators.

Maybe LIDAR? Or FLIR? Otherwise what happens when you're in a robotaxi and it starts raining? Are there countless "Public Safety " announcements ? Are there "Your car is dangerous, pay more attention" campaigns ( as there are for smoking) ? No, because Auto manufacturers don't want to be seen in the headlights ( as it were) - because they would have to spend more money on safety features....Auto building is political, after all, and no-one in the loop wants to stop the gravy train by pointing out how many deaths are caused by the unwillingness to have a "reduce deaths" mandate....

      I thought this at first but the only times this might be important are sirens and horns, or possibly other loud crashes but all that does for humans is put us on alert. We still then have to look around and use our eyes to see where the noise is coming from and then we react to that. The AI is alert all the time so this wouldn't be an issue and the inference would still be the same, just maybe with a slightly quicker reaction time.
