    bitdefender can be decent but if you're on a budget pc, it chugs ram at 500 megabytes. Also, while it may have the same antivirus/malware protection as bitdefender's other products, it does not include features such as ransomware protection or other useful tools that you can adjust for in other programs
    my preferred option at the moment is Avast with the option Hardened Mode enabled. In previous editions, this meant that the program would not allow something to run unless it was already approved in some manner, but even with this method, always practice good computer safety habits and safe browsing

    I've been using Avira for maybe close to a decade, quite satisfied, will occasionally ponder trying Avast, and now after seeing this will consider BitDefender as well, but don't really see bothering with actually changing something that works fine and is causing no problems. As long as your using any of the featured programs you're gonna be fine. And I have Malwarebytes as a supplement. I think equally if not more important is to not use the internet from an account on your computer with admin permissions.

    I've been using avira for a few years now but had to uninstall it on my laptop. I don't use my laptop that much so it would often miss its scheduled scans. The next time you boot the laptop it runs a scan, but when it's done with the first scan it runs again. My theory is that it had to run for each scan that it missed. Which meant that when I was using the laptop it was constantly scanning, which had a massive impact on performance. On a low powered laptop it really is a no go.

    I would do full scans with windows defender getting the green light,but when I installed Malwarebytes and It detected 80 different malware and trojans . I really dont recommend relying on what Windows has to offer

    I download a lot of mods for most of my computer games and once in a while I run a smart scan little did I know all this time I should have been running DEEP SCAN because I just ran one and it found malware but it was a google chrome extension now I don’t know what to do, it says moved to quarantine so I guess that’s good btw I am using AVG AntiVirus Free, it’s pretty good, I’d get it if I were you

    I've got ESET smart security, paid version, i used to have NOD32, but that didn't protect very well + it was free, so is "smart" better?
    It ticks more boxes, also I'm not very savvy about the whole thing? Cheers, from Australia 👍

    • @Vanessa_Simone_In_Toronto
      @Vanessa_Simone_In_Toronto 4 года назад

      I hated using ESET - absolutely hated it. And it screwed with my outlook. Even after I uninstalled it, it was hanging around giving me error messages that I could not get rid of no matter how I tried. That's garbage. If I uninstall something, then I want it GONE - not lingering around and annoying me. I would never give them another penny over that.

    I would honestly use windows defender as my sole protection but im still have the 'protection history' crash. It doesn't matter what I do i can't get it to stay open and work and show me the history. On top that it sees normal .exe's as threats. WinVer 1909 with Intel rapid storage technology
