Love the console improvements. Glad to see enhanced start menu. Nice tour, good work!
That animation for opening windows and closing 'em is just beautiful!
What do I like best about this tour:
The fact you can paste stuff in cmd! That's the best improvement in my opinion they did throughout the OS, thank you so much for showing this in the tour! I am so excited for the release!
Thanks a lot for this Scott!
Workspaces finally in Windows, nice.
Thanks Scott.
pretty nice ... thanks for taking time and making video
HOORAY!!!! Great job Scott! thanks!
Scott, Thank you for taking the time to introduce these features of the Windows 10 Technical Preview. It really is great to have an overview of the new and/or experimental features and to get someone else's initial impression of both the functionality and value of each of them. I have just downloaded the Win10 TP about a week ago, so I am [now] a newbie of the W10TP audience. Coming from primarily a Technical Support background - where I troubleshoot as well as coach Users - I am approaching 10 from the perspective of 'How easy is it to use?' and 'Does this feature look like something the User can "break"?' - so to speak. My installation is running smooth on a considerably older hardware platform, so that is a good thing too! Thanks again for your effort here and I hope you will make additional videos if inspired to do so.
Looking good! thanks so much for this tour
Awesome! I think Windows 10 looks amazing! Can't wait for it to be released for public use when it is finished! :D
Nicely done! Very detailed review.
thanks for the demo. . . in conjunction, i also use this FolderChanger utility to speed up my computing tasks and productivity overall in terms of folder management in Windows 10. It keeps me organized when using the computer. Look it up for "folderchanger" when using google. It works pretty well.
Want it! Can't wait (for the full version)!!
Just upgraded, loving it so far!
Great presentation, Scott.Thank You.
Excellent, nice to see they are adding features that work on other OS's, instead of reinventing the wheel.
Dear god, ctrl+c/v in the cmd line. Finally. Thanks for the preview Scott
Not sure about Ctrl+V but Ctrl+C is most probabl not going to work. Its used to kill a process if I remember correctly. I think you'll need to hit enter to copy.
Amazing how much has changed.
one of the better reviews I have watched. Thanks for a job well done
Great walk through! I've been using Console2 a lot recently because it was listed on your Ultimate Dev Tools. I'm really anxious to tryout the new console.
Thank you for this excellent information; especially letting people know that the Windows 10 demo might cause their computer to crash. Please keep this Windows 10 tour updated when Microsoft gets everything put together, with an updated tour video.I wish I had known about your excellent youtube channel before I waisted money on the book "Windows 8 for Dummies".The Windows 10 tour on a laptop is what everyone needs and wants.Thank you and good luck.
imagine this wild concept:
1.virtual desktops
2.better snap features
3.explorer enhancements
4.adding cortana
with this crazy idea - removing metro or having an option to completly disable it
so close yet so far microsoft.
these are some amazing NEW features especially virtual desktops...
MasterOfGalaxyYoda we all know what happened with the windows sidebar feature.. aah yes, it was so handy and full of apps to install..Until that time hackers broke into to them, and so suddenly made their way to bypass it and 'Wallaa'' they accomplished to break into your system! Microsoft took down windows sidebar ever since. And what about Windows 10 now?.All those icons are even bigger now in this version, its too much in your face, especially for organized users.
Very nice and informative video. Thanks, and good job!
I just watched this just now LOL and I'm not as afraid of the free upgrade as I was earlier today :)
Good job Scott
Great Job Scott................
Appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
yeah i love the many changes and was super elated when Scott chose to search Zimbabwe....
Somehow RUclips recommended me to this video, after 6 years. Windows 10 has changed a lots.
Very nice walkthrough. Thanks.
This is very helpful.
nice preview, all i wanted to know. ;)
The search for "Zimbabwe" was so random. I'm from Zimbabwe and hardly anyone ever thinks of it. Lol
Dj Groopz yebo bhudi. Some people think of ekhaya...some don't. ;)
Dj Groopz Same here bro, was unexpected!!
Dj Groopz There's a lot of ferro-chrome in Zimbabwe plus all those animals. A bit of education and Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) rings a bell.
Half Zimbabwe here, looking forward to installing this,
Dj Groopz You can select windows there, thus having the correct resolution from the beginning. Have a look at more programs here: plus.google.com/103995254740430807991/posts/VUCxM3c75MS
Great overview. Very excited about the modern console. Does it support multiple tab?
nice vid! BTW, was the "10" used with a different font size done on purpose?
Nice tutorial. I didn't see anything more exciting than Windows 7 though.
The command prompt with copy-paste + opacity is very good! Really liked it. Are there any windows resizable? Because there are still plenty of non-resizable windows in win-7, which is kinda 90'
The new Windows 10 is the best operating system I have seen so far. The boot up and shutdown times are fast and flawless .
Good to have a start up menu with tiles too.
I hope there are updates to newer builds soon.
I am impressed with the revamped design. I am in the market of getting back into PC gaming and owning a PC in general and I am happy with progress of this new OS.
I really like it. Right now im running the Windows 10 Home Insider Preview and just had another update maybe 10 min ago. Evaluation copy: Build 10130
Good preview Scott...my question is will Windows 10 be a free upgrade if you have Windows 8.1 ??? Also will Windows 10 be available in the Windows store to download the final release ?
This looks great! 1. How long is it usually between this stage of development and release to the public? 2. Any thoughts as to whether or not this will be a free update for 8.1 users?
I think windows 8 was realeased a year and a half after it's intial preview, but, given that a lot of people have pointed out that windows 10 is just a reworked 8.1 I doubt it wil lbe longer than a year, however, this being just based on my opinion, i strongly doubt it will free for 8.1 users, at most I would expect an "upgrade discount".
Also to note they apprently have a key logger in the beta/alpha build too
wow the cmd prompt is amazing :D us programers are gonna be so hype :D (I'm learning programing)
adman3344 yah its really nice looking to when its in full screen and the copy and paste oh my gosh so good
Is it possible to remove the icons out of the start menu? Like remove every icon (Skype etc.) so the right side of the start menu dissapears? And also what about the right or left snapping of the windows, what about you don't want any other windows get open and just snap one windows to a side and on the other side you want to have the desktop shown. Is this disable so the choices don't get shown? I hope someony can anwer my questions. Best regards! :-)
thumps up classsic..........this is the future
How can I create a website shortcut on my desktop on windows 10 like I was able in 7 because there is no big choice to create shortcut or anything like that when you right click a website now?
Again, RUclips recommending gems
good very informative.
how much does your Ram usage go up when you do virtual desktop thing ? i think that cool thing to do but it will eat lot of ram memory
hi, does all the peripheral's like keyboard, mouse are working fine ?
Is the search button not redundant? Because you can search in the start menu just as well?
Just coming from Win7 I was a big hater of Win8. After using for sometime now I have grown to love it. All of those comments saying you will love it if given the chance were right. I am glad that Microsoft is offering more choices on how someone can use their PC. Hate metro, use the start menu, Like metro? No worries just keep on using it. :-)
there is also oneget using chocolatey which is a command-line package manager just like linux has only instead of apt-get install you type cinst . It's part of powershell.
it will have a graphical interface too.
We've come a long way
Looks good so far. Hoping they'll finally add tabs to the file manager. This IS 2014, after all. For those of us stuck using that app on a locked down, corporate machine, it's pretty sub-par.
one major gripe I have is after you snap a window and de-snap it, it doesn't retain the original window dimensions. Is there a setting that allows you to prevent the window dimensions from changing?
I am really liking some of the new features. Nice Start Menu, better Command Prompt, and I like the Home location with the Favorites. I would like to know why we can't rename Tiles on the Start Screen and change their icons??? I'd also like to see more sizing options for the tiles.
But overall, very encouraging.
Finally a usable console window, only 15 years too late?
Magnus Holmgren Some game servers still work on console window. I'm also learning java in my school and we use console for most of the work... So it's not too late, although very late.
modern command prompt is pretty nice, and usefull....finally we can use ctrl c,v
resize....
windows 10 is gonna be badass
How do you choose your own wallpaper on Windows 10?
I'm very much liking Windows 10 for the most part. I am having trouble getting the start menu to go wide, but that's not a big deal. :)
Will a new version of office be included with windows 10 when I do the free upgrade thing
How can I switch to the "pure" tiles mode? (my screen isn't a touch type)
any thoughts on battery life?vs 8.1 or even 7?
does anyone know can you put shortcut icons on the desktop so you can go straight to a website from clicking the icon , you can do this on xp
what about the on screen keyboard? because i don get it there was two of them one for the tablet which is awesome an ones apart wich is more personalizing i want a mix of two simple and not complicated..
Thanks for the great video. Having added a Win 10 pc to my Chrome arsenal for audio and video editing, I was a bit hesitant as I haven't used Windows since 7.
Thanks again.
(but you have terrible taste in music!) 😜
Hi just watched your video, very good. I use Windows 7 and thinking about upgrading to 10. The one think that I'm worried about is that I won't be able to play CD, DVDs and b'ray's and will lose the use of my disk drive. Could you help with that query?Thank You
Can you update from 8.1 to 10 without having to reinstall your desktop programs?
Does it work well with dual-booting?
I upgraded, yes, no reinstalls for me.
how do u get the task bar see through?
Upgraded from windows 10 to the technical preview xD
maybe a crazy idea, but it would be awesome if they could include some sort of linux virtual machine so that you have a full featured terminal and development environment within Windows.
Can you move and copy files from one desktop to another??
It is so ironic how much Windows is becoming more like Unix-like operating systems, especially Linux. If It wasn't for the Start Menu and IE taskbar icons you might be fooled into thinking that this was a Linux Distro. It's nice though. Still, if Windows wants to win back Mac users and Linux users they are going to have to do a lot more than this.
I also understand.. As I proud Linux user. :D
pls
Very interesting but the same things were in other systems ten years ago.
it is Jun 29, 2015 and I am getting Windows 10 they say this will be the last windows but they will make updates!
Finally notepad has row numbering... Finally!
Will windows 10 have Aero theme installed when you have full windows 10
@LarryE The tiles are not icons... They are features of the software they represent. It would not make any sense to let you change their icon or rename them... They're an active element...
Looks cool, but ill wait.
Omg, that snap is tasty!
Now what would be good if DIFFERENT physical SCREENS could be two different virtual desktops each with different resolutions and different screen saver options
I think, one of the problems with old console, is that scrolling has a very short memory, so you couldn't scroll up/back far. Has this changed in new console. I also wish they update file explorer to include tabs and dual panel. File explorer has become so stale, that I use free commander as my file manager. When you did search calc, it appears to be TWO calculator programs there (one desktop and another the metro version). It still feels like TWO OS, than the one
that is cool
I'd like to see the ability to open tabbed folders etc in File Explorer.
I like how the full screen apps are now windowed and everyones flipped out. Yet little old me on my windows 7 computer was like, but wait isn't WINDOWS supposed to be all about WINDOWS ?
The best os so far.
can this play all normal games?? which could be played in windows 8.1??
I installed it on a desktop and didn't have any issues. And, with a few tweaks I had it looking like Windows 7. Plus, I'm rocking 3 monitors so no need for virtual desktops.
2:36 anyone remember back in the day when everyone wanted IE removed and you could remove WMP and IE with N editions of windows or using Nlite , nlited windows ran so SO FAST
if i have windows 8 do i get windows 10 for free or do i have to download this program?
Can you remove all the right hand side menu items ?
It's cleannnnnnnnnn, mannnnnnnnn
what's this monitor size?
Do I have to download 8.1 before I download 10?
where is the glass effect ???
R.I.P
It is possible to get get it back, though.
Where can I download this wallpaper?
That auto snap deal is going to be a pain in the butt.
Hi scott....i cant able to do resize of start menu and no transparent taskbar...
OS - Windows 10 - 9926.
6:30 I miss the old search system that was in 95 to 2003 , worked so much better then the removal of it and the new crappy one
A massive bugbear of mine is the inability to snap to the right or left of a screen with multiple monitors. Surely they can implement this. Also I want to see more window options for multiple monitors like instantly switching the window to the other screen.
*****
I love you.
JohnnyZenith
also windows key + shift + arrow instantly moves the window to the other screen :)
I am truly a novice. Thanks.
