  • Here's how to turn off as much Windows 10 data collection as possible. It's best if you use a Local account instead of a Microsoft Live account, but that disables some big features.

      I don't get it. People are scared of what the can't see (damn that's deep) Why don't people just ignore the fact and about the NSA they only want the info if there is suspicion about you. Also the NSA probably already know about you anyway

      ***** so is turning all these settings "off". even then at this time of writing, they don't really turn anything off. Data is still being sent back home to Microsoft. By that point, is it even more useful than previous versions of Windows, let alone Linux (thats a whole other can of worms for a whole different day)?

    Any of this won't prevent MS from spying on you, most of the things you turned off is just stuff that helps MS to make improvements the their OS. If they want to spy on you they are going to do it regardless of what privacy settings you have.
    There is only one way to make sure that no one is spying on you and that is to stop using the Internet altogether.

    Becareful! i tried the free upgrade and when W10 was installed and ready to use i found some of my video and pic files missing, is SLOW as hell even with the recommended settings and the worst of it is that all your new files are sent to some "server" with out you knowing it, just like the other day my pc was unplugged and not connected to internet and i wanted to play a several videos i had and the windows player played them with no image nor sound, and before that i got a message that said that the server failed to load file? WHAT? do i really need to be connected to the web just to see my own videos? that's BS, i'm pretty sure they're sending all files to NSA servers, and they only give you a month to go back to your previous OS, what a scam! sorry but i had to go back to my w7 instead, that w10 ain't worth a penny, security and privacy are major concerns to me, anyway good luck

      @CyanideTheGod 9 лет назад +4

      KyuuKyuuu Kun Collecting name and location data =/= sexually harassing and spying on you whilst you bathe yourself. It's really not comparable and you're reaching a bit too far honestly. I know its fun to joke about the NSA and such but honestly, most people seem to think they're actually important to the government when in reality the government doesn't give a shit about you. Unless you're a kingpin of some tax fraud organization or some shit, nobody really cares what you do. Micro$oft just wants more money and more ways to advertise to you.

    • @WaaDoku
      @WaaDoku 9 лет назад +4

      Solaire A bit too far? Do you even know how much any intelligence agency can find out about you with the data that will be collected through Microsoft? Combine that with data from social network pages, personal pictures/videos etc. you only want to share with your friends and they'll be able to track you down wherever you are with the metadata they can create. It's a shame that nowadays no one will get around giving away all these information and in the future it will be mandatory for everyone who wants to keep up with society.
      Now about what you said that NSA & the government won't care about you, that's right. As long as you're no target. And how do you become a target? Well, either you're suspicous through your actions or you're famous and have a lot of money. In both ways, who will guarantee you that your data is not going to be used against you? That hackers steal it and threaten you or your family? With that kind of technology and conecctivity there are new questions we should ask ourselves. If people share their life more and more online it's eventually going to get more ciminals in the world wide web, too. And how will you fight crime then ifyou come back from vacation and your house has been broken into with your valuables having been stolen and there's no trace of the ciminals whatsoever because they used the same data as your government uses. And now imagine that on a huge scale. Cyber gangs that collect data about when people will go on vacation in a certain area and a mass break in following. That's maybe an extreme example but it shows what huge potential there is to misuse all the data you let the government collect about you.

    • @Na0uta
      @Na0uta 9 лет назад +2

      和ァ独 Firstly Great comment, and well structured.
      Ok now as far as the government knowing about you, they do from the moment you are born into the world they know about you. when ever you pay taxes they know about you, and none of that kind of information is all that hard to get for a "Hacker" anyways. I'm not saying go plaster all your info on the net, but just play smart about where you use it and most of the time you are good. And if you are on the governments radar for being suspicious you prob are on there for good reason. i"m not here to justify or defend the NSA, but what they do is needed no matter what people think, tho it needs to be better regulated by people who know more about Targeted information accusation, rather than mass hauling info from millions of people where most is just fluff of random pic's of things we think could be a bomb but is actually a science fair project. My home being broken into with data collection? Ya don't need to look hard to find my place and it looks like i have stuff in here, so i don't play a fool, I got it all insured and have cameras on a independent power source with battery back up and 4g streaming Via my Cell app. It is monitored by a security company 24/7 for all out side cameras and all entrance cameras. other than doing paper work on it and it taking some time to get new stuff in, I'm not worrying. But people Without this level of protection have some grounds to fear. But how often dose something like this really ever happen? The idea that the information windows or the NSA gathers on you will be used to track and assist break ins is total scare tactics employed by media. you are far more likely to have some random asshole break into your house than any cyber thief. Hell it happened to me back when i lived in a tiny little house that was 50 ft from a major road with constant traffic all day long, my place looked like a little shit hole with all the bushes grown high up around it. it was also old as sin dating at least 50years. but sure enough some one broke into a place that looked like it was abandoned on a busy street with neighbors on both sides who had clear view of the house in broad daylight, and stole my game systems. At that point i did not have a Facebook, i did not snap chat or tweet, I didn't even use my house address for any documentation, and it still happened to me. And at the time i barley had anything of value, a PS3 and an Xbox 360, that was it. Oh and some crappy 480p TV. so yeah just because it can happen doesn't mean it will, but just because it might not happen doesn't mean you should tempt fate, Upgrading to windows 10 if everyone's choice till 2035 i believe. if someone doesn't want to they don't have too. but the day and age we live in requires that we provide info to get full effect. Don't be that old guy at the cash reg. still passing off checks because "I don't trust banks with my information". Or people who wont use paypal because "paypal might steal all my money". Let be real about this stuff at least. It really isn't all that bad guys, and a lot you can turn off easy, and with a little work you can turn it all off.

    Thio i really need your help bro...After i installed Windows 10 on my Packard bell laptop, my mouse pad did not work. I thought it was the mouse-lock function, but it was not. I hoped it would be automatically be fixed by the Windows 10 upgrades, but it didn't, until today. I use an external mouse in order to operate my laptop. I need you to help me fix my mouse pad, thank you.

    Found this vid extremely useful learnt a lot here. I was play a casino site last night when a Microsoft pop-up came up in the right corner of my screen talking about 'Great deals'. I shut it down, which then disrupted my gaming. Can I stop this from happening again? Thank you. Chris.

    The funny thing they could have implemented pretty much every feature including most of Cortana's functionality without all the privacy invasion.

    I installed Windows 10 today, and I'm having this problem where almost everything's size i displaying incorrectly. I installed Adobe Creative Cloud and everything is in like size 6 and 7 fount. I installed Photoshop from it, opened it, and everything is huge. Like, only half the toolbar is displaying. This is happening with a lot of things, and I thought it was my screen resalotion but that's all correct. are these just bugs or is there a way i can fix this?

    Is there any news on when the Windows 10 clean installs will be activated? I read somewhere that Microsoft is having trouble with the servers that handle that, but otherwise I can't seem to find any information about the subject.
    Apparently the un-activated Windows 10 will work for 30 days, so there isn't much of a rush, except that I don't want to spend time installing all of my programs just to have to format again and install Windows 7 or 8 and do another upgrade.

    I saw that clause in the terms and conditions and declined immediately, and deleted the update from the computer. I'm sticking with 8.1 as long as I can.

    Another things you should turn off is go to Windows Updates, Advance Option, Chose How Update Are Deliver and turn off Update from more than one place. This is on by Default and it will let other user connect to your Internet and use your Bandwidth. Microsoft are doing this so they don't have to spend so much money on Bandwidth delivering update and its on by Default. Not many user know about this.
