The "allways on top" setting could have saved me years of my life and many a salty tears
yes
@3reezy That stuff just doesn't work some times man!
Windows + TAB and creating a new desktop works 100% of the time.
@@civil_fellow2985 I had NO idea this existed. And here I was wishing you could make new desktops on Windows like you can on Linux. Thanks!
@@driedbark alt tab
Glad you posted this additional video for changing settings. There are many issues that these suggestions will help correct.
Thanks for the great tips, I used about 7 of them. I've always been annoyed by not having a full path or even File Extensions appearing in Explorer and it's also comforting to get Command Prompt back. Well Done!
3:33 instead of rebooting and stuff, you could also just create a new virtual desktop with win+tab and move the task manager over to it and do whatever you need to do.
Smart men do that. I never thought of that. Thanks
Fantastic guide, I actually not only followed these suggestions, but also wrote them down in a text file so I could quickly enable everything in case of fresh Windows install!
Quick tip for all of you people out there with apps/games that freeze frequently; I suggest you always keep a notepad open with unsaved changes. This way, when you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, you can select restart and it will close the program, but then give you tells you you have unsaved changes in Notepad, at which time you can click cancel and the program will have been closed and you didn't have to shut down your pc.
I hope this helps some of you guys as it did me. :D
Thats fr very clever. thanks g
Great video thanks! I haven't used windows since XP so this was refreshing!
Your channel is the best help desk I've encountered yet!
1:52 How many Adobe programs do you want?
*ThioJoe:* _yes_
maybe hes editing few stuff at once and there are multiple windows
Thanks for all the tips, there were some settings there I would never have known to toggle myself in both videos.
You are a life saver. If only I saw your video months ago. Quick access was doing my head in LOL.
That "Find my Files" thing was making me question my sanity. It was never that hard to find files before...Thank you.
Right?
This video is a life saver. Whenever I'm looking for something recently downloaded in the recent folder or when looking for something by is specific name nothing ever comes up! Now I can find files easily. Who would of thought Windows by default would not search for files on your computer in the search options.
Thanks for all of this, Joe. You present the best tech channel on RUclips, so comprehensive that there's no need to go elsewhere!
Really Cool, i have done lot of it long time ago but i didn't know some of your tips. Thanks !! ;D
Awesome videos, thanks bro!
Thank you for your videos! They are tons of help
Thanks a lot Joe. Saved many future pains. Awesome video
always helpful thanks for your effort
Great Video! Thanks for the Tips!!
Thank you, the video was super useful!
Well done with both videos!
Thanks buddy. Very very useful.
Thank you so much for sharing. Some of these settings makes me question why they weren't default in the first place🤔
Choices.
Love you videos there are always educative
always on top could have saved me many moments i had to hard restart my pc.
Some great settings! Thanks!
Loved this video so so so much... Thank you so much 😍
Thank you dude! You've helped me a lot!
Refreshing knowledge, thanks !! 😉🙃
Most of the settings I already had set as you suggested, a couple I didn't. Also thanks for the tip of pinning the control panel to the start menu.
AWESOME VIDEO. I like to think of myself as a "power user" and I still ended up finding 8-8 gens here. THANKS!
ThioJoe... thanks again... U hve really educated me on windows, and I hve a feeling ur not done yet...
What a great video !!! solved many of my problems
Thanks. Very helpful.
Choosing which folders come on to the start menu is so helpful! I didnt even know this existed in windows 10.
Great tips! Especially the toggle for "This PC" view option in Explorer. So, thank you for that.
Another area in Windows 10 that everyone reading this may want to examine immediately, is your "Manage your credentials" panel, in User Accounts. Especially if you are concerned about a recently odd, or suspicious, behavior in your file permissions. For example, like suddenly not being able to escalate a file permission level to admin, so you can make a change.
Click on Start, scroll down and click on "Windows System" folder, click on "Control Panel", click on "User Accounts", click on "Credential Manager", then "Windows Credentials."
By default (when Windows 10 is newly installed), all three of these credential areas are empty.
You should see "No Windows credentials", "No certificates", and "No generic credentials", for each type.
If you DO see added credentials listed here, especially under generic, your system has likely been accessed, and compromised via a remote network session (from the
Internet). Imo, any generic credentials should be deleted immediately. Windows and Certificates should be investigated, and deemed valid before deletion. But its likely they are shady as well.
thank you for these two videos...
Good job TJ!
Very helpful thanks!
Thank you very much for your tutorial. Kind regards
All amazing videos👌
Thanks, this was very useful.
Thanks ThioJoe appreciate the info
Good stuff. I'm on my Chromebook right now, but I've bookmarked it for the next time I'm on my Windows machine! Liked and saved to watch (again) later.
Nice, thanks for the tips
Great video and very informative!!
Yes, it is.. from the same guy who had me wrap CAT-5 around my CAT-5 between my router/modem and computer. For faster internet speeds..
I do sometimes turn on the automatic restart when I'm doing an update overnight and I want it to start as soon as it's ready.
suuppeerrrr helpfullllll...thanks man
Thanks ThioJoe! I graduated from IT School as Network Manager and my old school tries to remove my Microsoft Office I paid for at the school (full price) Because of your video’s they can’t try anything no more. I’m saved! 😁
*When im early enough to turn the poll to 100%*
3rd..Not bad..Not bad all..😉
I like this feeling a lot
Geethanks
Pifiked
The poll is gone now
Quick Access can actually be super convenient for recent files if you’re constantly importing/exporting files in creative applications. I used to hate it until recently!
Very good. Thanks a bazillion.
Very helpful🙌
Good stuff. thanks
The windows update res setting saved me so many times thank you so much
very useful thank you
Thank you for the "always on top" setting in the task manager. I'm a gamer and sometimes my games freeze up, and the only thing I can do is hit the power button and dive for the mouse and click cancel before the computer turns off.
I know you still like to joke around, but I really do enjoy your new very informative videos. These suit me much better. Some of these things you found I stumbled across on my own but others I did not. Thank You and I will be making some adjustments to our household computers.
OH MY THIS WAS EXACLY WHAT I NEEDED TIME TO SUBSCRIBE
Good stuff, thanks
Three videos I’ve watched already 👊
These helped a lot thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regarding the power options being switched to "High Performance," that can sometimes cause CPUs to always run at their boost clocks rather than adjusting clock speed and voltage to the CPU load. I'm not sure about newer GPUs, but I've seen it happen on my GTX 1060 as well.
The clipboard history....
YOU literally blew my mind!!!!!!!!!!!
I had no idea Microsoft added such feature there!
great tips, cheers
I am speechless watching this useful video. You are...
Good video. Liked.
Thanks for this, was really helpful, applied some settings from your video
However, the power plan setting is a bit different for AMD Ryzen processors, Ryzen 3rd gen uses custom power plans becuase the processor can switch very quickly between loads in 1-2ms, the standard High-performance plan has a response time of 15ms, even custom plans are available for 3rd gen Ryzen
I love the multiple copy and paste tip, I use copy and past at least 100 times each day at work. Now I will "paste" as much, and reduce the "copy" by about 75%
3:18 THIS WILL SAVE ME A LIFETIME THANKS OMG
so useful, thanks
Great video
Thanks for telling the Tricks
so helpfull thx!
thanks, I just upgraded from win 7 to 10 so these videos are great, have you got any more tips ThoeJoe?
3:16 I always have to use keyboard to navigate the task manager when full screen application is freezes (which is not that hard to do, and you can see the task manager by hovering over the icon, or using alt + tab to temporarily see it) but this will definitely make it easier to do...
You can also add Quick Access commends to the top bar by right clicking on items in the ribbon. I've added Properties, New Folder, Command Prompt (Admin), Powershell (admin).
Can also start apps at the current path by type in the navigation/path bar: cmd for Command Line, powershell and wt for the new Windows Terminal.
Task manager on top! That's incredible convient!! :) Before, my task manager often were hid behind the game I ran, and to see what the task manager showed, I had to cleverly press alt + tab, to get a miniature screen of the task manager, then using keyboard shortcuts to cleverly access the performance tab, then find the service to close. Thanks!! :)
Bruh one-time GMod froze on me for like 14 minutes but it was in full scream. So glad I learned about that Taskman trick now. Thanks, Thio!
Jeff Rabbit that was the same for me until now
Yes, I always use Full"Scream"
Just press the windows keys. That or alt tab
@@xxTHExxABYSSxx you cant because the game is frozen doofus
good,
thanks for this videos
You are just so wonderful, I love it.
Wow, Explorer opening to Quick Access has infuriated me for years, and I've been right past that setting without noticing it. Thanks!
good video thiojoe
Brilliant 👍
Oh thiojoe you are the best in tech and you always know more. You have inspired me to create my own RUclips channel. King Sharif Tech. I will always learn from you
Oh yes thiojoe always knows better
cool video tech talk joe
I have windows 1909 and working fine thx for tips on setting to change.
wow lot of work , great video, alot to take in, hehe
Can you do a video on which things to disable in Windows 10 Task Scheduler.
In [Task manager > Performance] you can double click the little graphs on the left to make task manager small. Combine that with the "always show on top" option and leave it in a corner of the screen :)
right clicking your taskbar and clicking task manager works as well to open task manager
Hey TheoJoe..I noticed that your vids come in so much clearer than other vids on RUclips..I'm watching in 720p60 but for some reason your vids in particular always play so crisp..Is this something you did or..?
I think its a combination of editing and higher framerate. Jack Scepticeye has good quality too. Marques Brownlee
@@SwastikSwarupDas Actually it is much more simpler than that. For every single videos that being uploaded to RUclips (as of this comment in December 2019) The RUclips server will attempt to "Re-Encode" it to their own Algorithm, and they use VP8, VP9, in some few cases still using H264, AAC, Opus, Vorbis. Even if this doesn't make sense to you, The Encoder will attempt to Analyze every-single-pixels color in every single frame depending on how high the FPS was uploaded. Now, with VP8 and VP9, it has the algorithm which can simplify how the "Colors" are being stored, delivered, and viewed. To make it simple, if you constantly using a "Still Camera" recording yourself talking, the only pixels that constantly "Working" are your face, like in this video, while the Background, the room, the wall, assuming all has constant Lighting, the Pixels of that area are "FROZEN" so RUclips server can save up more Storage data.
That's what makes videos like this looking "Crisp" Because the Pixels are borrowing the Neighboring bitrate to make it crystal clear. Of course all my explanation here doesn't apply to videos with constantly moving colors/cameras
Thanks again JOE helpful
as i'm a dum user learning
Thx very handy
heres a helpful tip, sometimes the always on top feature doesn't always work, when that happens you can hold *win + tab* * New Desktop* then when you done hold *ctrl + win + right arrow/left arrow*
With the Task manager stuff...you can just get good at tabbing through stuff and alt+E to end the task of stuff crashing too. Too many times doing Skyrim mods to not learn to deal with it.
@3:33 Actually, there's a workaround to this issue. You can press [Win] + [Tab] and even if the (e.g.) game fullscreen hangs it will still allow You to perform this action. From there You can create New Desktop and there it's like landing on a new continent. You can freely open up TM and kill the hanged process
So THATs where the command prompt went.. Thank you for this video and others like it
Thanks Joe
