Cream of Bacon soup. How have I missed that all these years??????? Nice way to jazz up a hamburger and potato casserole. Thanks for sharing. As usual, this is now in my recipe rotation for meal planning.
I think with added liquid I could make this with all pantry items. Dehydrated potato slices, canned ground beef, homemade cream of _____ soup mix, and could even use rehydrated freeze dried cheese, whole milk powder and sour cream powder. All things I have in my pantry.
Definitely going to try this, but to cut down on the baking time, while the ground beef is cooking, boil the potatoes about 3/4 of the way done with a good dollop of “better than bouillon” beef paste added to the water. That way once you put the casserole together you only need to bake it for about 20-30 minutes.
I purchased my meat in bulk and I get ground chuck. However, as there is relatively no fat I saute my ground beef in some butter or neutral flavored oil because I need that little bit of fat to carry the flavor.
Greg, I started watching this the other day when you posted it and stopped it to go off on a tangent looking up the cream of bacon soup! I've never even heard of it. How have I missed this all my life?!! They don't carry it in my supermarket so I will keep searching. Amazon has it if you buy a case (which I may). In the meantime I will make some homemade from a "cream of ______ soup base and add bacon to it. Either that or use a different soup and add bacon to the casserole. I bet the bacon flavor adds a lot to this dish. Thank you for this recipe and your website where I can print it out from! May I ask.... are you a professional chef, short order cook or something like that? You are really good in the kitchen!
I am a private chef and caterer which kind of went away during COVID. I am now doing this and may in future start back up with the catering or private chef. I do hope you enjoy the recipe Carol. Have a great week
@@gregscumberlachiakitchen Hi Greg! Nope, never found it. I've been so busy the past year and a half what with planning a move out of the house where we raised 6 kids and were in for 40 years. Downsizing from 5000 sq foot to a 5 room apartment was challenging (to say the least!). We are now in a mother/daughter on 12 acres and have goats and chickens! We dove right in to homesteading. This past spring we worked on the garden which was a huge project to start from scratch. I still haven't finished unpacking! I have to go down to the basement to look through boxes when I can't find something I know I have, lol. At any rate I haven't been on youtube so much but I will be back!! Hope you and your mom are doing well.
