That s exactly what i was thinking. My French husband hates hachis parmentier ( shepherds pie) but said he would this pizza everyday. By the way I cooked the whole potatoes first then sliced them then placed on the cheese.

Fantastic first recipe, I've made this dozens of times over the years. One tip I'd offer up though- please brown the mince first, then add the onion. Once the onion has softened, add the garlic. You don't want the onion or the garlic to burn.
I was thinking that too. The meat needs to cook much longer than the onions and garlic. Note, if it’sa flavor thing then I suppose one could always take the onion and garlic bits out, Brown the meat and then add them back in. But to me that’s just extra dirt fishes lol

It's like you're trying to make Shepard's Pie but from memory and you were black out drunk that one time you watched your Aunt make it, so this is the best you could do.
I tried this after seeing it on your You Tube channel. very impressed. I am insulin dependant diabetic so i need to keep a lid on my carb intake. I use a layer of cabbage chopped with the potato slices on top along with every thing else. I do reduce the spuds at time but some are necessary and you gotta love the cheese. At times I add blue cheese for a slight flavour change
