  • Please please please let the rest be good.
Even if it isn’t, though, I will still like this part of the arc. Let’s talk about why.
    (But really, please.)
Kind of weird timing for this video to finally come out when we just got an article about Sunbeam and Nightheart letting us know that they originally planned to have them break up
    warriorcats.com/content/artic...
…I mean I still like this arc and I don’t think their relationship is the worst the series has ever done but…wow them breaking up would have been so much better. I still stand by what I said here though because, even in the script, I added the caveat that this was a great direction considering Sunbeam left to join Thunderclan to follow Nightheart. Tom & She-Cat Romance is in fact not the only happy way to end a story and these two in particular could have really benefitted from learning to be happy with themselves rather than in a relationship for a while.

What makes A Starless Clan so good:
    1. In-territory threats again
    2. Unclear antagonists until later on
    3. Multiple antagonists with separate goals and direct relations to the protagonists
    4. Consistant rivalry and genuine friendships
    5. Repeating side characters with unique personalities and impact
    6. Arc is a direct cause of the previous arc
    7. Possibly of actual war instead of one defining battle
    8. Squirrelstar

The mystery here was _much_ more engaging than in the previous arc, imo.

I need more in territory threats, to all the clans again
I’m just the first arc we had riverclans flood, territorial dangers, the fire and bad storm, and they were well balanced with the outer threats like windclan being driven from their home, the dogs, tigerclaw in general, scourge and blood clan
It was so interesting and every book had some threat that felt truely dangerous even without characters dying, and when they did it put into perspective how dangerous
I loved the first arc, almost every arc since has felt more and more boring to me, less happening

I personally am loving the more grounded story. We've had enough of the paranormal, dark forest, impostors etc. It's just really refreshing to have a story actually focussed on the world that the clans live in again!

I really like that this arc focuses a lot on the politics of clan life. It feels like we haven't really had a conflict around that since Mudclaw's Windclan coup that we saw from an outside perspective. Most of the conflicts have come from an outside force. So it's nice to see something a bit different

The books that are coming out this year are STACKED: we have the last two in a Starless Clan, Ivypool's Heart, and The Prophecies Begin graphic novel! It's a good year to be a Warriors fan.

Can't say anything other than agreed to all of this!
Also, I'm very glad that when they sent Nightheart on the journey with Frostpaw, they didn't go with the "the entire clan hates Nightheart now because they think he left again and it forces a conflict between him and Sunbeam later" route. I agree sending him away was the best choice but before Thunder came out I feared they'd mess it up. So it was very refreshing to see that they actually used it for good character building and not forced drama. It made the book so much better for it

It does have its issues, but I believe this is the first arc where the writers listened to the fans and actually improved. The plots are way more characters focused, which is so good, especially since a lot of characters have fallen into no personalities.

The true miracle of A Starless Clan is them having two books with travel in them and both instances have actually been interesting! I was dreading Thunder so much but it was actually??? Good???? I wasn't bored with it and I actually felt good and satisfied after finishing it??? It was the fourth book in an arc and I didn't hate or even dislike it?! Witchcraft!
Seriously, tho. A Starless Clan really is shaping up to be my favourite arc. I just hope they don't fumble Wind and Star. And I also hope that Ivypool's Heart doesn't spoil Star like Tigerheart's Shadow spoiled Darkest Night AND River of Fire. I'm honestly debating on saving Ivypool's Heart after I've read Star...

thunder might be my favorite book in the entire series. it left me in tears, unable to put the book down even after i finished. i havent had that happen to me since swiftpaw and brighthearts battle with the dogs.

I love almost everything about ASC! Interesting background characters, emotional impactful plot points, in clan villains, rivalries, morally gray antagonists and protagonists, actual character arcs, friendships and so much more. It really has TPB energy. While it isn't perfect, it's great in comparison to many other arcs.

I haven't read warrior cats in at least 5 years, and know little to nothing about A Starless Clan, but this video has made me want to pick the books back up, or at least the new arc. Thanks for the cool analysis!

this arc gives me so much hope for the future of warriors. it's not a perfect arc by any means, but it's so much better than the last few. these protags are so refreshing and rich and i thought that the traveling arc of the fourth book was actually pleasing when it was more character focused.

I definitely wouldn't say Frostpaw and Whistlepaw would "never be canonical", since they have some pretty good chemistry, and the open acknowledgement of the ship on the website. I won't immediately jump on "Frostpaw and Whistlepaw are 100% canon", but I'll keep an open mind.

The way I would sum her up to someone who’s only read the first arch would be
Imagine if spotted-leaf had Ravenpaw’s personality and really really REALLY needed a hug.
(I guess so does raven paw,)
But seriously she’s such a sweet , responsibility crushed little gal ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love AVoS and TBC, but I definitely agree that ASC is even better. They're doing so many interesting and unique things with the plot and characters, and I'm thoroughly enjoying getting an arc that is focused on politics and characters rather than the StarClan lore. I really hope they keep up the good work in the final two books!

    The Starless Wind Theories :
Frostpaw is given refuge in ShadowClan by leader Tigerstar who believes her claims. Tigerstar advises Frostpaw that she has a better chance with WindClan because leader Harestar is his friend. But it is easier said than done as Harestar is skeptical of Frostpaw's claims. But Harestar does ultimately come around despite his desputy Crowfeather's cynical protests. Frostpaw and Whistlepaw's friendship blossoms. Meanwhile, Nightheart is training new apprentices and begins to ponder about the mediator idea and visits the park cats again. Sunbeam feels conflicted when she hears about Berryheart's illness. But Berryheart fakes her illness to garner sympathy from her daughter, trying to pit Sunbeam against ThunderClan. With Sparrowtail and Hollowspring at her side, Berryheart plots with Splashtail to fight ShadowClan. Berryheart becomes Splashtail's deputy, declaring war on ShadowClan. But ShadowClan has WindClan backing them up. Many died from battle. Either Harestar or Crowfeather dies. Breezepelt becomes the new deputy in WindClan : Harestar would choose him to honour his father's memory. Crowstar would choose his son to make up for all the past mistakes. Splashtail and Berryheart's control over RiverClan continues to grow. It is uncertain how long their reign will last. Who will be the leader of RiverClan?

Honestly, I feel like Nightheart and Sunbeam didn't actually love each other that way at first, Nightheart felt like he wasntrying to convince himself he did and they seemed to both be somewhat pretending at first but their struggles in shadowclan together helped them grow fond together and fall in love with each other, at least how I interpreted it.

Nightheart and Hope from Final Fantasy 13 have basically the same arc and both were hated for the same reasons (but unlike Nightheart, few people saw something else in Hope's character). Maybe that's the reason why I was able to put myself in Nightheart's shoes more than other ^_^

So this is my least favourite arc however i do enjoy all the things you mentioned. I just found the first 3 books very annoying because they were more focused on family problems and will they won't they relationship trope instead of the mystery. Night heart was just a protagonist i could not enjoy. He did get slightly better in book 3, but it wasn't quite enough for me. Book 4 he was a lot better but still remains my least favorite protagonist. My only complaint on sunbeam was that she went front, agreeing with her mom to suddenly change her mind off the page. I feel like that could have been done a bit better. Frost paw being the better of the 3, she couldn't do too much until the last book other than stress (understandably). I think the 2nd half of the arc will be a lot better than the first half.
