      Dave Weber Luckily? Are you serious? You realise the US is the only country that's not agreeing to cut it's pollution....Even China agreed to it. Our administration this term is a joke but too many American's are to stubborn to want to change because of personal preference (like this with the V6 vs the V8, even though the V6 is better in every way) or because it requires some effort on their part but are lazy.

      Seraphim Valkyrin You couldn't resist curbing your political dogma to put in your 2 cents on a truck page on RUclips could you?
      The heavy regulations on emissions for car companies are being rolled back so that's great news for the market. It means the people who want a V8 Ecoboost will have a greater chance of seeing it. And let's face it, people who will buy it could care less about emissions and mpg.

      Nice. Hope us could post a vid next time. Still these new heavy duties say they are off road worthy as they are with out a lift, so would be great to see if and how worthy they really are when it comes to some off reading as opposed to how much they can haul or pull.

    Wrong explanation of how a torsen differential works.

    • @scarhart53
      @scarhart53 5 лет назад +3

      The Torsen is NOT a locking diff. It is a limted slip, and the names are exactly right. A locker locks in BOTH wheels to get maximum traction. A limited slip does limit the slip by braking the wheel that is spinning in a low traction situation in the hopes that the other wheel will start spinning and gain some traction. That actually is fairly effective, but not as much as a true locker. You know that both tires are digging with a locker.

    TFL folks, please make your life easier and buy a proper tire deflator. Saves so much time and you are sure to hit the mark you want in no time. I’d also be interested seeing such comparisons without lockers engaged. I am always wondering why you guys engage lockers almost by default. I hardly need to use the lockers in my JK and would have gone up Cliffhanger without them too. Also, there is less stress on your drivetrain, what is important to me long term. In an old truck with no traction control at all, that’s a different story of course. I’d take the old Raptor anytime and would not care about the lack in performance. The V8 rumble and a less complicated engine is enough reason for me. But I understand everyone who prefers the newer model for added performance and improved suspension. Thanks TFL for all your hard work!

    • @TFLtruck
      @TFLtruck  7 лет назад

      +mauiman52 thanks. We have a deflated, but we were deflating three vehicles at the same time. A locker helps on a steep incline going up with not much side slope. You are right, a locker can make you 4x4 slide sideways on a side slope.

      Its evolution not downgrading. All vehicles had v8 big blocks in the 60's that sounded just incredible. Then the "future" came along and brought more economical vehicles that didnt sound as good. And now we have the ecoboost engine that doesnt have a V8, but its got more horsepower, has more torque, is more economical, its more efficient, it lasts longer, and its cheaper to make. Evolution is never popular.

    I love the sound of a v8 as much as most people do but the evolution is going to e-cars. Get used to hear nothing in the future.

      AM and FM radio cannot be received very well on short antennae. The frequencies for the Satellite radio have a much shorter wavelength and therefore will be picked up very well with the mini antennae. The length of an antenna is directly related to the frequency sending or receiving. For example a CB radio is considered the 10 meter band(27mhz). This means that one cycle of transmission is going to travel 10 meters away from the antenna before the second cycle starts (or each cycle will travel 10 meters before the next cycle) So your typical 108" CB antenna is actually 1/4 of the wavelength so it is considered a 1/4 wave. Satellite radio uses 2.3Ghz which has a wavelength of around 14cm, so a 1/4 wavelength antenna only needs to be around 3.5 or so cm long. A 1/4 wave FM antenna is around 20 inches or so. Also to note that 1/4 wave antenna seem to have good reception qualities with very little loss compared to smaller sized antennae.

      I think "absorbed" would be a good way to describe it. They are basically called 'Ford Performance' now. Ford took all of the different performance teams, SVT, RS, Ford Racing, and brought them all together as one global team. Now they are responsible for things like the Raptor, GT, Mustang GT350, the Focus RS, etc.

    Wow... seemed so easy to put it in D to shift it into “crawl mode”. Or is that cause I don’t have an extra 30k for a “decent” truck. Or maybe it’s also because I prefer manual T Cases where I physically put it into whatever 2 to 4 high low configuration I want. Not to mention the fact I can lock or unlock the front hubs to “whip” around objects. And I forgot to mention. This is a 1993 Ram W250 which makes both these trucks look bitchmade.

      Jake YBB Dodge seems to specialize more too. The ram Runner is a better pre runner than the raptor. The Power Wagon is a better trail truck and it probably has better towing not sure. The raptor is a great All rounder and is probably more practical for most people.

    Could you swap the V6 twin turbo for the 6.2L V8 in the 2017 Raptor? If so, another question. Could I add twin turbos to the swapped V8 or is it better to add a supercharger instead? If I go with the supercharger option, it's probably better to just swap for the Shelby Raptor engine, no? That V8 sounds amazing.

    • @alpha2gproject783
      @alpha2gproject783 Год назад

      Long time overdue but you're better off just getting a Whipple for the 6.2. As time has gone on the 3.5 Ecoboost has a lot of issues from cam phasers to fuel system failure. The 6.2 has and continues to be a proven workhorse.
      Also, consider that engine swaps for new vehicles aren't even remotely easy anymore. You're looking at 25,000 for just the engine.

    I tend to think expectations should match sticker price with some of these tests. And since you can't just create ideal new roads maybe you should figure a standard way to handicap these rather than just expecting apples to be able to compete with old apples, huh? Just a thought 💭 but if my $63000. Pickup didn't go up that little trail, I'd be giving it the "here after" story.. 😜 thanks Guys
