    Really enjoy the segments. Fun positive and informative. In a internet world that's so quick to rip everything and just be nasty and mean. Roman is all about having fun with his team. Andre has come so far, its been really enjoyable watching his progress. Nathan is the dude that just let's it all hang out and gives his constructive criticism on how could be improved. THey all make the best team in the net for best reviews. I bought my 2018 , 2500 hd off your reviews. Thx fellas for the time and energy it takes to produce these videos.

    That was a fun video. Just a bunch of guys goofing around talking trucks. I owned a new fully loaded FX4 2011 Ecoboost while I lived in Colorado. It was a beast going up Pike's Peak and Mount Evans, never and issue at altitude. My only complaint was the lack of engine braking which always caused hot hot hot brakes even in gear 1. I loved that truck, it was sexy, it was tough and I averaged 23mph (hand calculated) traveling from CO to MN going 75 then entire way. My around town average was 18'ish due to my heavy foot. I'm in the market for an F150, this time I will go with the coyote because I want to supercharge it...

    I do mobile automotive interior repair for automobile dealerships and I will have to say that that Fords interiors are more durable than Chevy or Dodge..It is definitely more difficult to find repairs in Fords vs. the competition..HOWEVER the competition has more "fancy" interiors compared to Ford..So it's a trade off..what do you want durability or Luxury..JS

      Also materials expand and contract, which means that Ford with its panel gaps will always last longer for interior parts. Also, its better for customisation. They keep the same mouldings for multiple vehicles, they try not to change them too much between model years, keep things easy to dissasemble and put back together. Its all for people to make their truck, SUV or car their own. I kinda like that, even as a guy who has only ever owned GM's but will switch to Ford eventually (1 year down on a 4 year contract)

    Huh, I didn’t know the XLT is that basic when stock/no packages etc. The interior of this one in the video looks like an XL. My 2015 XLT is very nice inside, with the big screen, navigation, and console shifter, and has the bed lights. I guess it’s because I have the Sport package which removes chrome, and adds some stuff. Pretty much the only difference between mine and a lariat is leather seats (which I don’t really care for), and the lighting trim around the headlights and brake lights (which looks so cool, I wish I had those).

    Like the reviews but you need to at least learn the basic voice commands before you try the audio systems. The Sync 3 system would probably have found the restaurant no problem if you had said, "Find Point of Interest" then followed the prompt for the name of the shop. I get the point they are not up to Google or iPhone standards but you also have to remember you can connect a phone and use Android Auto or Siri which is more like natural speech.

      Totally disagree. I use voice commands quite often for navigation but if you are going to "test" something you need to test how it is supposed to work not how you wish it worked otherwise there is no point. You know before you start it will not work.
      It is even more stupid when they try to navigate in a truck they know does not have navigation. Completely pointless.
      The natural speech answer is to use Android auto or Siri.

    • @BeanoNoir
      @BeanoNoir 5 лет назад +8

      @@tomtraynor5384 My STX has rubber floors, which is fricken awesome. I think rubber floors in trucks should be standard across the board, because what is the first thing everyone buys for their truck? Weatherproof floor mats. Yet there are folks that still want to pay more for cheap, ugly marine carpeting. The Super Dutys can be ordered with rubber floors all the way up to the Limited trim. Only a few things are lacking in the STX over an XLT. Being technically an XL, the console lid and door pads are padded with indestructible Batsuit rubber, instead of soft vinyl over foam like the XLT. This is actually an advantage for me with my dog often sprawled over it with claws and everything. The more annoying thing that is missing is a sunglasses holder with individual map lights. A strange omission that couldn't have saved very much. Other than that, the console actually has more storage with the absence of a shift lever. I find the traditional column shifter significantly more elegant and intuitive than the new dial shifts that Ram and Ford are now pushing (not in the F-150 yet, but give it til next gen) , while maintaining room in the console. So, kudos to GM for holding out on that as well. I will say that having the payload package does affect the ride fairly significantly, especially in such a light optioned truck. It is more comparable to an F-250. Also, the FX4 package is kind of like paying 750 bucks for a sticker and hill decent control (which I don't know anyone who has ever used that). You no longer get branded shocks and you can get the skid plates on their own for $140, not to mention all of Fords towing packages (not just a tow hitch) come with locking rear differentials.

It's a truck and we all want one for a main purpose. You can tailor one to be perfect for you. Sorry but it would end the debate because you bought it for what you needed it for. Example don't get the 3:31 rear if you are going to tow a 9000 lb trailer

    I'm enjoying the Buddy Reviews, but with a gentle criticism that I'd like to see better attempts at using the factory navigation consistent with how it was designed and implemented. We get it, it's not Siri--fine--but the Ford system in Sync 3 works exceedingly well, and I use it more than I do Google Maps or (perish the thought) Apple Maps. Once you know how to use it--and the learning curve isn't significant--it's a really seamless experience. Give the truck a fair chance to show that off.

    I have a basic XLT with 5.0 and average 19 mpg. I drove 5500 miles over two weeks from Ohio to California and got 24 on the highway in states like Kansas that were gently rolling landscapes. The mountains made it work harder and the truck averaged around 17 mpg. Albeit this is with a tune in it that bullydog bdx which I didn’t uninstall before trip. Looking back I could’ve returned it to stock tune on at least the trip back home to draw some sort of conclusion about the two. Overall it wasn’t bad trip for us and truck performed well.

    You have to understand the technology with speech. The advantages of speech recognition on phones is they have access to the internet with access to a very large speech databases. They also utilize learning algorithms that get smarter and smarter as people use their system. We struggle with the same issues in the aviation community. Ambient noise is the killer of speech engines; fortunately these vehicles have great sound deadening technology. Once we have fully connected vehicles these systems will improve.

    • @acdii
      @acdii 5 лет назад

      That FX4 package is crap. If you want off road, go after market. The on road handling goes to shit with FX4, the skid plates are cheap thin junk, and if you buy Max Tow with FC4 you paid twice for the locker! Buy the Max Tow, and a $20 switch for the dash for the hill descent and save $750 or whatever they charge for it, and get better true aftermarket for off road. FX4 USED to be a trim package, and worth it, but no longer, its just an option with cheap parts.

    Generally good review with the exception of the "the back of the vehicle rides rough"; it's a pickup meant to carry a load in the back, if you want a smoother ride get a high-end Citroën ... unless you're going to whine that the Citroën doesn't have sufficient payload numbers.

    So many media reviews are on top of the line trucks. As such, you see most reviewers claim Ram has the best interior. Maybe that's true for trucks I can't afford, but when you bump down to the base trim levels, Ford and Ram give you an embarrassingly small screen. GM's new high trim interiors have not seen the same praise as Ram's, but on a base trim Sierra, you get a very good 7" screen, along with Apple Carplay and Android auto. So, before you you drink the "Ram has the best interior KoolAid", be sure to compare the interior trim you can actually afford. Ram might not always come out on top.

    Another great review. I'd go with the 5.0 as well, in fact, I already had. Bought a 2015 XLT Sport with the FX4 package. It's been an awesome truck, and I've heard the 2018 5.0 with the 10 speed is even better. I'd give the new Ram a serious look as well though. That 5.7 is Stout and the new interior is the best in the segment in my opinion. Great video gentlemen.

    On-board voice recognition systems require you to learn how they work. Here's why:
    Voice recognition on phones and what not is being done on big servers. Those systems are useless without a connection to the network. Vehicles who have on-board recognition are running on the hardware IN the vehicle. Can't really compare the two as the difference in computing power is enormous.
    If you are somewhere where there is no cellular service, your phone will be useless whereas your on-board navigation (including the voice recognition) will still perform perfectly.

    • @EntropicRemnants
      @EntropicRemnants 5 лет назад

      Reply to my own comment, lol -- I see Roman did understand the difference between systems. So nevermind. I've learned to use Sync 3 in my Ford though and it's a great system -- just requires you to understand how it works. Even my non-techie wife has mastered it.

      My 2010 FX2 with a trutrac rear diff has never let me wanting for 4wd. I leave the off-road stuff for when I am on my dirt bike. In the winter I can even out accelerate the 4x4 trucks with my Blizzaks on. Once when I backed into a wet ditch at night in the pouring rain, with one wheel in the air, I was still able to drive out of it with older highway oriented tires. Never get stuck when I go off-road for loads of firewood in the bush either. But I also throw on all terrain LT tires on the back wheels when I overload the bed with stacked hardwood. 4wd is overrated and I will always stick with the simpler, more fuel efficient and better riding RWD.

    • @dchawk81

      @@gregorbabic7664 that's funny because I had to engage 4wd to get off the grassy slope at the back of my yard. It's stupid little stuff like that for me, not the getting to work or offroad mountain climbing type business most people think of.

      If you couldn’t drive up a grassy slope maybe you needed to replace some worn out tires on the truck. I have always made sure I had a 2wd truck with limited slip or as in my 2018 it’s got a locker. We had a 14” snow this yr and didn’t get stuck, but I do throw some weight in the bed for the winter. Besides I’m not taking a $60k truck rock crawling or mudding. And with 2wd you can tow more
