Take a look at our review of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Max Tow ruclips.net/video/G5kLCdcTH7I/видео.html - It competes directly against this Lariat on price.
Travis Martin on Miya 2019, I have to press lock once, then start twice. Truck is still new so am fumbling around to get all the nuances down but am thrilled with the 5.0!
Seriously just bought this exact truck 2 months ago and absolutely love it. Heavy discount was on it. The price was 66k and got it for 53k after about 2 hours of negotiations.
I was wondering about the sticker price on the Lariat because I've been looking at a new Raptor with every available option plus aftermarket wheels for a sticker price of $70,000.
I saw a 2018 new lariat with the luxury package with msrp of 61 right now going for 50k. You think it'd be possible to get it lower especially cause it's a 2018 on the lot still?
I have a used F150 with the 5.0 engine and all I can say after shopping against the other makes is the 5.0 is underrated. What a great engine. It sounds great, good fuel economy for a truck (on trips 21-22mpg), sounds great when you put down the pedal and is as refined as luxury car engine at highway speeds. Drove me nuts how loud the Tundra 5.7 was, even when it was not working.
Chris Bjarkman The ASL piper Couldnt afford the 3.5 ecoboost but i did get a great deal on a 5.0 stx XL supercrew. Nice trucks but after comin from the 6 speed auto transmission, the 10 speed can sometimes feel a bit jerky shifting all the time, especially city driving. On the high way though they drive like a dream.
Went shopping for a Lariat. Ended up purchasing a 2018 XLT Screw. FX4, tow, nav, 3.5. Sport package has more durable cloth and console shifter. End of year incentives, almost 14K off MSRP. Plus strong trade in price. Couldn't get near that on the higher trims. Tough choice, 5.0 or 3.5. Both have strong performance. Not much that I'm "missing" as far as options. Especially that I could park a nice motorcycle in the garage for price difference from the Lariat. I think GM and RAM also make a good product. I like that Ford has most engine choices for all trim levels. Ford has done a really good job with this vehicle. As far as ecoboost reliability. All the big rigs use turbo engines and can run a million miles before over-haul. Research shows the eco-boost are quite reliable. "Change the oil...." The sound, well..... Did I mention the torque is amazing and with the 10 speed.
Just got back from a >16k mile road trip from TX to AK in my 2018 FX4 Lariat with a 3.5eb. Not once was I concerned about its capabilities or performance. Had a blast without any vehicle concerns.
16k miles. That’s about what 750 gallons? That’s crazy to think about. That in a Full sized truck with 400lbft+ of torque you can spend less than $2000 on gas to go that far!
And here I am with my 2018 Silverado and won't go over 30 miles because the last time I did, I lost my drive shaft. I'll never by anything except Ford from here on out.
I went with the 3.5 ecoboost for the smaller engine when I run errands around town. When the turbos kick in its supposed to be equivalent to about a 6.0 I can tow a 8,500 lbs trailer no problem. I get the best of both worlds. That was a selling point for me. So far I'm impressed with the ecoboost.
I purchased a 2016 FX4 Black Platinum Ecoboost Currently have 36,200 miles on the truck. No problems so far. “Knock on wood”. I love this truck. It is fun to drive and love all the options. I have the premium plus warranty which carries it to 75,000 miles. After that I hope the Tundra has updated enough to compete with the big 3 because that will be my next truck.
I have a 2015 F150 5.0 V-8 and I love it best truck i have ever owned! Has the power i need and its a Great looking truck, Very dependable to never had a issue with the truck.
How's your truck? Still good? I have a 2011 with transmission issues. I've seen a lot of 15' and 16' F-150's for sale and was wondering if you have any problems with yours.
Midnight oh yeah I have the 18 XLT sport with 2.7 Eco. Amazing truck, very smooth and I’m enjoying every single mile with it. I hope you enjoy yours too.
I've got a 2018 Super Cab Lariat, Ruby Red Metallic with the sport appearance pkg and the 3.5EB. I love, love, love it. I've had it over a year now. No regrets. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Pulls our 28ft 7,000lb travel trailer like a boss, even through the Rockies where I was blowing by Ram-boys and their hemis.
I love your channel. I think Roman, Andre and Nathan (along with Mr. Truck) seem to have a really good chemistry together. I hope you all get along in real life, as it's enjoyable to watch you on the RUclips screen.
I am currently leasing a 2016 F150 XLT in that same color and I believe the same wheels as that one. I wish I could have afforded the Lariat but at the time I could not. The F150 does lease very well. My 2016 XLT was pretty much loaded with an MSRP of $52k but with just $2,500 down I am leasing it for $499 per month. I must say that this truck after 30k miles has been pretty trouble free. I had one incident in which the truck started missing and losing power on a trip. It did not strand me but definitely had reduced power and a miss. I took it in the next day and the dealer said the 2.7 EB had 2 spark plugs that were fouled. They replaced all 6 under warranty and so far it seems to be fine. That was about 6k miles ago. The longevity of the EB engines concern me but the power they produce sure does put a smile on my face. And the fuel mileage has been pretty good in my opinion. I have averaged (per my fuel logs) 19.6 MPG over the life of the vehicle. Probably about 70% hwy and 30% city driving with no towing. That is a lot better than the 15 or so MPG I got with my 09' RAM (5.7 HEMI). I know the new RAM probably does much better but reliability and durability on RAM is questionable at best. I will probably be looking to update in the spring and I love all of the real world reviews that you guys do. I do wish you could do more long term reliability testing but I guess that is what CR is for since they have more resources for those sorts of things. Love the format of these vids please keep it up.
John no disrespect intended but I could never wrap my mind around leasing a vehicle. I recall a financial advisor on radio say once a lease is long term rental. It’s never yours nor are you ever payment free if you continue to lease. For example I bought a used Honda Element nearly 9 years ago $14k. I financed for 4 years and have not had any repairs until this year (starter and ignition key switch $900) I have a friend that leases and has been leasing for over a decade so he has a never ending car payment.
Joe a lease is not the right option for everyone. Like everything else in life it has advantages and disadvantages. From a purely math point of view the best way to purchase any vehicle is to pay cash. It probably also makes sense to purchase the most boring vehicle that you can tolerate. Leasing generally opens up more options to most people since usually lease payments are less than purchase payments. In essence with a lease you are financing the difference from the MSRP and the projected value at the end of the lease. For example if you lease a vehicle that has a MSRP of $50k and in 3 years it is projected to be worth $35K then you are financing $15k over 3 years. That is a simplified version but it is why some vehicles lease better than others. For example a Mercedes leases terrible because they do not hold their resale value. I am not sure that a lease will be my best option on my next vehicle purchase but I thought I would give it a try on this one. Oh and your remark was not disrespectful in the least.
Why the comments on how expensive it is? You pay for what it is. Best selling, most technology, highest tow capacity. Never rust body. And not to mention how beautiful it is to look at. What else is there? Ram? Silveraydo? Not buying something built by FCA and couldn't pay me enough to take a Chevy. They're almost painful to look at.
So glad I got rid of my Silverado and bought a F150 almost 2 years ago. The little 2.7 babyboost outperforms my old Chevy in al ways. Towing, loaded and 0-60.. And last night it proved it can out brake the silvy by a long shot. My 2016 F150 is the best truck I ever owned.
I would buy that over the 2019 competition. Love the F150! And people been reporting problems with especially with the new RAM and the center display. Wonder what 2020 will bring
@@benjaminwayneb actually Ram has a better infotainment system then Ford or GM in ease of use and reliability. It's a new product in 1 year it will be better.
Best thing when you step up to the lariat id getting a different 4x4 system/transfer case. 4 auto allows the truck to operate very much like an awd car, disengaged the front axle during sharp turns to prevent binding etc. Also. Drive modes change the 4 auto system, in normal mode the front axle will disengage at highway speeds, but if you engage snow/wet mode it stays engaged, etc.
I'm 17 and drive a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 4.8 and I have to say idk if I'd want to drive an ecoboost instead of the 5.0 I used to think the ecoboost was better because of the numbers it puts out but there's something about a v8 that just puts a smile on your face and not to mention the 5.0 is far more versatile when it comes to mods
I love my used '12 F150 but having said that, the sticker price is amazing to me on these new trucks. Like they said, if people were not buying them, they would not be priced up like this but I cannot believe middle class people are coming up with the money to pay that much for trucks. Ours is a basic XLT with all you need but not really any toys and that was enough $$ for us. Shopped the other makes and it is not like any one was a great deal over the others.
Stephen Zerfas agreed but on a daily basis I see 2-3 raptors a day. Those are 65k+ USED let alone new!!!! so that right there tells me the truck market is super rich.
You better double-check the size of the Silverado because it is nowhere near as big in the back and it does not have a flat floor the RAM on the other hand it is as big in the backseat
I was about to say the same thing and GM has been recycling the same dash for years. Also GM has had that same interior since like 2013 so it's clearly older looking than the Ford.
I've also have to give it to the Ford they were the first to come out with the panoramic roof the wood trim more room. They got the six engine choices pretty impressive a V6 with twin turbos that out perform the V8 by a long shot Chevy and Dodge . Chevy and Dodge finally caught up to ford it only took them about 4 years. Lol that's why Ford is the number #1 selling truck.
Well, for that large of price, I chose to go with a Gen 1 truck, a '16 F150 XLT with the 3.5L Ecoboost, and it's been perfect so far. I got a wad of printed material, on the service records from brand new, and I'll continue with quality maintenance. I've never liked the Ram 'look', which may be a personal thing, but even if I won one, I'd sell it instantly, and buy a Ford or GM. I do like the Ford looks over all the rest, and have had two Fords in the past, a '95 F250 that I owned for 17 years with the 7.3 Powerstroke, and had ZERO issues with the truck in all those years, even after tuning it to 400 HP at the rear wheels. After that a '09 F450 King Ranch, possibly the most comfortable truck/vehicle I've ever owned, which was programmed to over 500 HP. I went a year without a truck (bought a motorhome, so no need for the truck) and was driving my wife's old Nissan...but not long ago got the F150 mentioned above, and I 'love' driving it, with many more options than I've had in a truck before! So...never a Ram for this guy, and I'll keep an eye out with the Ford & GM for future purchases. Oh, I've decided to never buy new again, because of the fast depreciation...so I'll always be behind the ball on options compared to new, but it will always be at least a few years old, and hopefully any bugs will be eliminated by then.
I still drive my 2000 F150 XLT 4x4. 163k miles and running strong. Just changed the oil and realized im.burning about 3/4 quart somewhere... I may be looking at a new V6 model that puts out more output than my 260hp, 350 ft/lbs torque offroad demon.
Just get a slightly older one. Just bought a 2015 5.0 lariat 501A and it's the shit. All the useful features and functionality at a price that makes sense.
As a BMW collector, knowing nothing of trucks, after renting 2 new f-150’s, 1 with the v-8 and 1 with the v-6, I would hands down get the v-8. My mileage was better with the 8. It was more fun, sounded better and smoother torque band / rev range. The 6 was powerful. No question.
Love the fact that andre tried to speak to the nav system because, i have noticed nav systems across different brands, it does not recognize the speech with accents. However, when you speak with a white accent (not just amenrican) it recognizes it immediately. First noticed it in Nissan. So bravo Ford for picking up andre's russian accent!!!
If you need more space than what's inside a crew cab, buy a van. Self driving cars are not far away and once they're here, vehicle's will become nice places to take long naps. When that happens, vans my become the most popular seller.
2012 f150 lariat crew cab owner.. just paid it off.. great truck.. no trouble with motor, but alot of other issues.. 165k update just traded mine in for 10,500k for a F250 7.3 Godzilla's !!
Jared Baux ford trucks as of late have held up really well. For a 5-10 year old F150 lariat with about 100k on it. It was 50k new about 20-25k now. So just under half. So In 2028 you can get this truck for about 30k
@@devinbender8428 lol no way 30k in 10 years. Someone will rather pay the extra 10k for a brand new one with less bell and whistles, and best of all, factory warranty. 10 years from now at 15,000 miles a year will put you at 150k miles, alot of people dont trust a ford, Chevy or dodge with that many miles, atleast with a gas engine. I have a 2005 f150 lariat 4x4 with 131k miles on the clock and I bought it used in 2011 or 2012 for 15k with 55k miles on the truck from a private owner... 6 to 7 years later. Now, it is probably worth 7 to 8k private party.
I had a 2015 XLT, trade in was $28,000. Now that 65K your talking about is sticker price. I got a 2018 Loaded to the max XLT with the FX4. Sticker price was 62K, I got it on the road for 33K, my trade difference paid for the taxes.
R2BA I love it! Quick acceleration. I was quite surprised seeings it’s a V6. I always purchase 8 cylinder, however this time I wanted the 3.5. I haven’t been disappointed. Oh and the gas mileage....😎😊😃
I'm thinking about buying a used F150 lariat 2018 what engine should I get because I don't plan to tour anything with it, I'm 6'6" I'm buying it for the interior space and the use of the bed. Also all the transmission problems have been hearing about is it a major recall or just a few trucks??
The STX is the bare minimum truck, but I'm sure you figured that out by now. No navigation, no power seats, no heated mirrors\seats\steering wheel, no sliding back glass, no auto dimming mirrors, no down hill assist for 4x4, no electronic rear locking differential for 4x4, and no skid plates, and no split camera view for 4x4. You can get the FX4 package on the STX which gives you the 4x4 options that the generic STX package does not, and you can also get the towing package in the STX.
The price has rocketed. I have a fully loaded 2014 Fx4 and in 2014 the window sticker was $53,000. (5.0 V8 which is cheeper) compared to this 18 the only thing I don’t have is the auto park, 360 camera, heated rear seats, and auto lowering tailgate.
Kyle Graham inflation plays a large role in that as well as worker wages not being adjusted accordingly if you think about it. $53k now doesn’t get you what $53k could get you 4-5 years ago
Well, you also don't have an aluminum body. Aluminum, which our dumbass president has placed expensive tariffs on. Even the price of a can of Coke has gone up.
I like Ram, i have my reasons, but there is alot in Fords i prefer over all others, mostly cushier ride over small road wholes, dynamic steering weight gets much heavier in speed (unlike Ram), love the keypad entry... probably more...just few i could think of quick
tallll70 Rams has ride beat with the air ride. It’s best in class and I personally rode in one model with it and it feels like a luxury sedan on the road and off-road is awesome too
Automotive Guru ik,, 2019 is best now, i've heard, but before my friends Fords would always do slightly better on small road bumps. Have to give them that. So many people say coil springs improved ride, for some reason i feel this strange road noise in 13 Ram which i though i didn't have in 06 model, but maybe it's just my wild imagination ['_']
Anyone else having a problem with the turbos over heating when it rains? My grandparents has a 2017 and it’s in the shop again for a new turbo’s again. This is the 2nd set of turbos. They also had a ground problem that shorted out the pcm.
The conundrum is that the new Ram has one interior targeted to everyone, and it is nice. It does not get downgraded/decontented based on trim level - you have to go to the Ram Classic to get a basic interior. The F-150 and Silverado make-do with basically the same interior for ALL trim levels. Ram is cheating, which is why I bought a F-150.
Guys I love your channel and have been a fan since I lived in CO running the same trail as you all in the front range, but do NOT compare the Ford interior to the Rebel's interior! Trucks DO NOT need giant screens in their interiors. The Rebel is a FUN truck, the f150 is a WORK truck. It is about utility and getting the job done and done right. The Rebel interior is in no way representation of where Ford need to start pointing the direction of its interiors. I don't mind updating, but big screens are a cheap cop out on true design and functionality.
THE 3.5 IS A BEAST! More torque than GM 6.0 or 6.2!! Way lighter than the competitors and faster. Also if you don’t floor it you get better mpg too! I don’t know why people even bother with the 5.0. I would take this motor in any ford!
Devin Bender I’ve got 240k miles on my 2014 5.0 Platinum. Oil changes, break pads and tires is all it’s needed. Still has the original battery. My work let’s me get a new truck after 200k miles so I just got a new Titan Platinum. The dealer offered $12k trade in on the F-150 at 235k miles. It’s been such a good truck I bought it from my company instead of trading it in. I wonder if the EcoBoost would have held up as well or gotten as much on trade in. Last year I towed a 7,500lb trailer from Colorado to San Antonio and at the time the truck had 185k miles on it. You have to have a lot of faith in your truck to be willing to do that.
brad beasley I hear what your saying. However many people including ford themselves put the 3.5 threw a verity of tests and shown the 3.5 holds up well. It does out sell the 5.0 as well. I do see quite of few 3.5 EB trucks with 150k+ miles on them. So they must be holding up. However now the Gen2 is out I bet those trucks drop in value a little.
yea I just turned in my 3.5 Ecoboost Lariat and took delivery of a 5.0 King ranch. After two months I gotta say that I like the Ecoboost better than the 5.0.
Devin Bender yeah, so the 5.0 has been a good engine but it isn’t all that as far as competition plus mine is over 4 years old and the truck game is changing fast. My new Titan is way more powerful and gets better gas mileage. I am averaging just 15.6 mpg in the f150 and average so far in the new Titan is 18.2. With the amount of towing we do my company prefers us to buy the V8s. A lot of other guys were buying the 2.7 EcoBoost and they didn’t hold up well at all to the towing we have to do. (Oil company) delivering allot of parts)... they stopped us from purchasing those about 8 months ago. I’m a manager so I get to buy a higher trim level whenever I get a new truck. My choice kinda came down to another f-150 platinum, Nissan Titan Platinum or a Silverado high country. (Sorry we aren’t allowed to buy Ram either due to past problems) Since I’m a good company man I got the Titan for $39k (about $20k less than the others) and it came with a large V8 and a 100k mile warranty. We have a lot of trucks at my work so I get to compare a lot.
If I was buying a new truck, it will be another F150, but it would be a Platinum or Limited. A lariat with this many options is still a lariat. You can get a Platinum with better interior for the same price.
Sorry and this goes for all brands but I can't see myself paying $60k plus for a half ton when I can just get a Three quarter ton Diesel for less or the same. (Depending on brand)
Come on guys- please review and edit. It’s not called an “FX4”, FX4 is not a stand alone model since 2014 guys. It’s just a package that includes slightly different tuned suspension, 3 skid plates, and down hill descent control (the “unique tires” and the locking diff are stand alone options you can get without the FX4) You can put the FX4 package on XLT, Lariat, King ranch, platinum, and limited. And Roman, it’s the same ride height as with out the FX4 option. When your talking about the truck having “start stop” why do you say “the 10 speed allows that?” What does the 10 speed have to do with it? Ford has had start stop since the 2015 2.7 ecoboost. And where your trying to talk to the truck and you say it doesn’t understand, then you say “you just can’t say Siri, or Alexa etc” actually you can. When you pair your phone (which is extraordinarily easy on an F150 with sync3) then you can hold the talk button for 3 seconds and that accesses Siri, or when your USB is hooked up you just touch the talk button and it’s Siri, OR you can just say “hey Siri” and you can have the system be as “ intuitive” as you phone, Because it has Apple car play and Android auto (not mentioned or shown)And without all that the Sync 3 is one of the best systems on the market for many reasons, including updates that are just done with wifi instead of programming or SD cards. When your talking about Ford not being in the forefront of space guys please show us. Sit in the back of all the 2018’s so the GM/Chev 2018, and the Ram 2018. (The two main competitors) don’t look at the measurements, just sit in them and tell us what you think. Ford by far is the most room! Chevy’s numbers are not quite accurate because they are measuring from the end of the back seat to the back of the front seat, and they simply have a shorter seat for measurement purposes to fool guys like you. Plus look at the flat floor on the F150 that the others don’t have, way way more actual usable space in the “real world” without having to use and optional flat floor contraption that when in use looses a ton of height load room. When your talking about the models Over and above the lariat you forgot the King Ranch also. Plus that’s a 502A package lariat. There are two lariats below that, 500A and 501A. All priced differently to suite buyers budgets. Before you say “that’s too complicated” your spending a lot of money on a truck, find a sales person that can make it non-complicated and show you why you May want a certain configuration. “That’s a lot of money for this truck” please again your talking out of your butt. You can’t compare the 2018 chev and 2018 Ram to it because at the 502A level they don’t have comparable trucks. That would be more comparable to 500A. The 2018 Ram and 2018 Chev/GMC don’t have power telescopic steering, adaptive cruise control, Self parking, a full Glass Roof, power running boards, tailgate step, two way remote start (which you don’t even show when your struggling to start the truck) 2018 ram doesn’t have “air conditioned seats they just use cabin air they aren’t cooled just ventilated, LED Box lighting, HID headlights, Fordpass phone App (free) plus a ton more. You get a lot of value for the extra money. And if your comparing to a 2019 then yes Ram is very pricey also. And so is GM, funny your not mentioning how much the two new competitors are yet your comparing the 2018 F150 to the 2019 competition. And you still can’t get a bunch of stuff with the competition you can with the F150, like king ranch 601A, platinum, and limited you get massaging seats, and they are awesome! Plus the you would have to compare the the F150 with the cheaper 5.0 because it’s faster than the 5.7 hemi also. I’m sure that truck would have the 3.55 gears and the max trailer tow package if you look at the window stickers guys, that’s not “just under 11,000lbs” that’s 11,900 pounds. I don’t know where you got your payload numbers from but it’s not even close it’s 2030lbs with the supercrew short box 4X4, the exact configuration your driving. With max payload package and the 6.5 box it’s even much higher. Where do you come up with this info??? So much missed and wrong information yet again fellas, your going to get me to find time and do video’s aren’t you lol. I don’t have time for that guys, “pick-up” your game (pun intended) (ya I know my writing skills suck, obviously it’s not my strongest point ha ha) p.s.couple of the main things you didn’t show, one of the coolest things on the truck, how could you talk about price and not show the glass twin panel roof, not just “lane departure warning, but lane assist” the exclusive trailer park assist (which is a big deal if you are not good at backing up a trailer), plus much more. Frustrating to watch you guys. Compare a F150 that’s way less guys because like I said there are a ton of things the trucks your comparing to on price don’t even offer at any price. And don’t even get me started on all the advantages of all aluminum. Forget the commercials Chevy does against it, look at all the debunking videos against those ads. It’s lighter and never rusts, ever! Didn’t mention that. You think it costs more to fix? Yes it probably does, but insurance pays for it not you. And you know which truck made of aluminum is the safest truck in the world. Yup you guessed it, that too is the F150. (No mention of the crash test ratings) how about the huge fuel tank meaning less stops on trips. Rain sensing wipers, automatic bright beams. I could go on and on to show value for the money. How about the huge difference in resale value compared to the Ram, you get some of that difference back. Blah blah.
Yeah - I have this love hate relationship with TFL. They don't seem to really research these very well and actually name the differences, but that would involve real work. The little things are what make up the difference now, the technological creature comforts and capabilities. Yet another cringefest with misinformation and missed opportunities.
I like your reviews, but, I prefer the more utilitarian trucks. That is why I bought a Dodge Quad Cab 4WD from the Forest service in Colorado. Mine has the 4.7 V8 with a 6 speed manual transmission, non-power windows, and locks. It seems to be lifted up a few inches, and also equipped very luxurious rubber mats!!
Does this truck have the Max Tow Package? I ask this because the price seems awfully high compared to my similarly equipped 2018 FX4, Max Tow Platinum which has the $250.00 towing mirror option, Ford tri fold bed cover, wheel well liners and the Ford version of the Husky floor liner in in the price (as well as the bed side steps) and it stickered for the same money as this truck. In my research, Max Tow saves about $1000 over a similarly equipped 3.5L Eco Boost esentially giving you the Twin Turbo V6 for the same price as the 5.0 L V8. Plus, this might explain why I have 100 pounds less payload capacity as the 9.75 axle and additional cooling does take away from the payload capacity of the truck.
Gary Blatt towing package for this is option but it’s basically just a hitch. Locking diff is part of the off road FX4 package. Get them both on the 4x4 and it’s just under 35k starting.
If you get the "Max Tow" package on a 2018 with the EcoBoost motor, you got a 9.75" rear axle with 3.55 gears and e-locker along with the HPP frame. The 36 gallon fuel tank ($450 (prox) option) was tossed in for free as well as a bunch of other cooling items. It was the best deal on the F150 for the 2018 model year. Yes, the regular towing package was nothing.
TFL.... Thanks for another review. My question, please answer because I want to know and I am in the market for a new truck and I am heavily considering the F150 with the 3.5 eco boost. Have you ran a competitive test between the 3.5 with and the 3.5 without the "catch can" after market install? I keep my trucks a long time and the last thing I want is a brand spanking new F150 with valve problems 30 to 50 thousand miles down the road. I ask because the internet is FULL of these issues. For roughly $500, is the catch can a good investment?
Guys, why does this tester not have the ecoboost badging on the bottom of the front doors like they always have done? Is this a new thing or whoopsie on this unit? Honestly I thought it would be a 5.0 when I saw the video thumbnail. Please elaborate!
I have a 2018 fx4 xlt supercab with the 3.5 eco boost .... I paid 42500.. sticker was 50050.. I love it .. my girlfriend just bought a 2018 stx 4x4.. supercab with the 2.7 ... she paid 33000... so if you know what you need versus only what you wNt these trucks can be affordable .. my truck is for hauling a tractor .. don’t need a moonroof and leather for that .. my daily driver is a 2016 Subaru Forester
I heard before why you guys don't discuss reliability, but in this "buy it or lease it" discussion it's one of the most important factors in a purchase, and too important to leave out. The new Ram has a truly next gen. Interior. There is no question about that, but the last generation Ram was consistently listed as one of the least reliable vehicles in the country by every independent group that tracks frequency of repair statistics. I really hope FCA has got their act together on the new ones, but there is no way in hell I'll bet 60k of my own money on it.
Never had many issues with Ram trucks. Had many go past 200k with original motors and transmissions. Not sure what everyone is referring to? I think you'll find issues with any brand's mass produced vehicle. But overall they are all very reliable and we'll built. Just depends on how much you take care of a vehicle.
@@bellasky83 That is everyone's response when anyone calls out the reliability of a vehicle, Ram or otherwise. It's great you have had good luck with your Rams, but your personal experience is not statistically significant. They are constantly shown to have the most problems and greatest repair frequency by consumer reports, True Delta, and JD power. In fact the Ram 3500 was just ranked the least reliable new pickup for 2018, as it was for 2017. That doesn't imply you are guaranteed to have a major problem with one, but you are statistically more likely to.
65 grand?! All I want and need are the capabilities of the power wagon (with a hellcat engine/fully cladded underbody and spaced wheels) with a 3rd gen ram slt package
I love that truck, but I'm unsure about the quality. My last f150 (14 lariat) that I bought new needed so many repairs by 70,000 miles. Driver seat failure ($1800 at 45,000 miles), oil pressure sending unit (showed no oil pressure at 48,000 miles and required a tow $$$$, and needs a new one again), warped rotors warped rotors warped rotors warped rotors warped rotors warped rotors, oil leak at oil filter/cooler assembly at 60,000 miles, front hubs partially trying to engage in 2wd when weather is cool (started at 30,000 miles and continue to do it), rear defrost failure that requires an entire rear window replacement (62,000 miles), air bag warning light is intermittently on. I'm not sure if spending more than $50k on another ford is wort it?
Common guys, you still have to remember it is a truck. Most trucks sold are used for work. Most guys beat the hell out of their trucks. Leather and pleather will get scratched, torn, stained. From a resale stand point it is hard to wreck the plastic !
Tfl should know that there is a 4x4 pkg ram offers. Im buying one actually. Similar to the rebel in many ways. Rear locker, lift, skid plates and upgraded tires. its essentially a poor mans rebel kinda undercover. The same way you can buy a unbadged power wagon. Just a lifted 3/4 ton with all the same features as the wagon.
Extending the cab 4 inches is not necessarily true. We parked a 2018 next to a 2019 Ram and the outside dimensions were exactly the same. I'd suggest they all found ways to gain space with more efficient interior design.
I did love Ford but I will not buy a pickup with a V6. Just can't do it. To light weight for real world towing. Go back to V 8 and put some weight back. I switched to Tundra and love the old 5.7.
Just shopped the F150, SIlverado and the Tundra. Of the 3 the Tundra was the loudest (not in a good sounding way) and thirstiest so it landed in last place. I assume when you mean light weight you are talking of the whole truck weight. I got an F150 with the 5.0 and it is a great towing setup.
@Daniel Brice I tow a Work and Play Rv quite often. It's not the weight of trailer. Its the tongue weight. The new F150 is terrible towing it. Tundra does a much better job.
Many if not all corporations of any sort invest heavily on Analysis to see what the threshold is on the absolute most they can charge for their product. I can easily see a truck costing $100,000 in the near future and people will flock to lease or finance for 15, or 20 years.... maybe put their home as collateral
i have a buddy who has the 2018 Lariat with the 5.0.. he loves the truck but its been to the shop 5 times for warranty or recall work in just over a year.. exactly what ive heard from other people i know with F150's.. they just have too much technology and moving parts.. ive had a 2005 titan for 11 years with literally no issues besides reg wear and tear.. ill be going for prob a 2018 titan soon to replace.. as will be cheaper with the 2020 coming out and still has a 5 year warranty
Just bought a 2019 lariat, 5.0, 3.73, 7000lb gvwr. Love it, but it is still new. My last Ford was a 1975 f100 with a 360 v8 that was terrible and made me switch to Toyota, until now.
Any regrets yet? I would imagine you’re a bit bias towards your new truck because of the hard earned dollars you’ve spent on it. But what’s your honest opinion?
Yeah, that's a lot....more than I want to shell out....Pickup trucks are the cheapest to manufacture. Once the Auto/start stop feature was mentioned, it was just that....a quick mention....I have not heard one person say they like it, and from what I gather, no one uses it
It will be interesting to see the long term reliability of these turbo engines. I have a 2005 aspirated engine and I would be leaning toward buying the 5.0 in these new Fords.
Take a look at our review of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Max Tow ruclips.net/video/G5kLCdcTH7I/видео.html - It competes directly against this Lariat on price.
To use remote start you are supposed to double click quickly, you were going a little slow there Roman ;)
The out the door prices are actually falling. The new RAM already has $15k of discounts.
I was wondering about the sticker price on the Lariat because I've been looking at a new Raptor with every available option plus aftermarket wheels for a sticker price of $70,000.
Zachary Zarko Unlikely that you’d get a discount on a Raptor. Very common to end up paying $10k above MSRP sticker on Raptor.
I saw a 2018 new lariat with the luxury package with msrp of 61 right now going for 50k. You think it'd be possible to get it lower especially cause it's a 2018 on the lot still?
I just bought a 2017 xlt with 19.000 mile for under 35.000. Mint condition..I love it.
Purchased an 18 150 platinum last week. Very impressed but I chose the 5.0 motor.
5.0 liter over the Ecoboost all day. It will be longer lasting than the Ecoboost's.
Say that to the guy who's coming up on 300k on his 2011 ecoboost
I have a used F150 with the 5.0 engine and all I can say after shopping against the other makes is the 5.0 is underrated. What a great engine. It sounds great, good fuel economy for a truck (on trips 21-22mpg), sounds great when you put down the pedal and is as refined as luxury car engine at highway speeds. Drove me nuts how loud the Tundra 5.7 was, even when it was not working.
michael morales smart move
Nathan Salyers proof?
Have put 15000 miles so far on my 2018 F150 Lariat and loving it. ❤️
Eco or 5.0?
The 3.5 eco
Nice bro we have the same truck
Humberto Guillen ❤️🧔👍
Gregory Thew big difference between a turbo diesel and a gas diesel.
Not just America, the F-150 was the most popular vehicle period and the best selling vehicle in the world for 2017.
Proud to be Ford F-150 owner ❤️
Yes indeed 😁
Love my 18 XLT Sport too Ahmad. Great truck.
Midnight oh yeah I have the 18 XLT sport with 2.7 Eco. Amazing truck, very smooth and I’m enjoying every single mile with it. I hope you enjoy yours too.
Same here I also have a 2018 lariat sport. Love when I beat Chevy dodge In a race puts a big smile on my face
@@humbertoguillen5694 ha! I dont think so loser.
best truck in the world!
Yes I wonder about the longevity as well. Also in the long run what the expense will be like to maintain those EB turbo engines.
Honorable mention to Daniel Jaeger films. His channel features a video of a 200,000 plus mile F150 Ecoboost. ruclips.net/video/7IPgxwSiUsM/видео.html
Thank you John, I was afraid it would come across as insulting.
Hahahahha. Its ugly af.
It has Sync 3 Apply/Android and you can do natural speech to Siri / Alexa. My 2017 Platinum does.
I would buy that over the 2019 competition. Love the F150! And people been reporting problems with especially with the new RAM and the center display. Wonder what 2020 will bring
The first year of the truck is all ways hard to get it right
@@843MudMafia. Ram, FCA always has trouble getting it right!!!
Ram (not dealers, FCA themselves) is already offering BIG discounts on the new 2019 Ram, they must be having trouble selling them.
@@benjaminwayneb actually Ram has a better infotainment system then Ford or GM in ease of use and reliability. It's a new product in 1 year it will be better.
Andrew Cunnison Ford got ahead a few years ago, but they just don’t realize that RAM and Chevy caught up with them.
Absolutley LOVE my fully loaded 17 f150 lariat
So do I
Jjust replaced the transmission, radiator and waterpump. $9400
If that truck had the 5.0 it would be perfect 👌
Single or Twin Turbo 5.0 would be awesome..
Sure wish the 5.0 was reviewed more
Bought the same truck with tan interior in May and love it. It’s quiet and smooth and full of great features.
Is it still running smooth.. im looking at exact same model and year dealer for 57k woth 25k miles. Is it good? Thanks
$399 a month for the next 10 years. There's your answer.
Very nice, always been a ford guy but I'll stay with my older trucks.
I'm sticking with my 05. It's cheaper to buy a house than a new truck now.
F150 will always be the best in class.
Nah. I'll pass.
Mine is a 2016 and never even had a check engine light. Best truck and best color. Ruby Red. Like my 7” lifted 5.0 version.
Not surprising. Of course the newer trucks will surpass the current gen. Not to worry, a new F-150 is on the way 😁
😒
Really need to do a 2018 f150 5.0 Ike Gauntlet test
Nice truck, I just wish it would cost 35grand and not 65grand lol
nate michaud that’s loaded top of the line truck tho. 4x4 3.5 starts at 42k I believe
Devin Bender that’s not my point. The point was a lariat should be around 35 grand. For 65 grand I would go 6.7 f250
Just get a slightly older one. Just bought a 2015 5.0 lariat 501A and it's the shit. All the useful features and functionality at a price that makes sense.
Donte Brown 2015 doesnt have the power and speed of the new f150s.
4 years later and I’m about to buy one for 30k lol
I like these buddy reviews. Wish you could do this with all cars you get
As a BMW collector, knowing nothing of trucks, after renting 2 new f-150’s, 1 with the v-8 and 1 with the v-6, I would hands down get the v-8.
2009 the bigger cab was started in 2009 those other brands have a lot of catching up to do!
Agreed. My 2014 Lariat crew cab (prior to 2015 Aluminum re-design) has a huge amount of space in back and completely flat floor with vents.
Ram currently is class leading in terms of cab space
Pretty sure Ram started it with the Mega cab back in early 2000s still biggest cabs.
I'd choose to buy. If I wasn't a college student. And actually had the money.
Wonder what resale value is gonna be in 5-10 years. At 65k
Jared Baux ford trucks as of late have held up really well.
For a 5-10 year old F150 lariat with about 100k on it.
It was 50k new about 20-25k now.
So just under half.
So In 2028 you can get this truck for about 30k
10 year resale, that's just a stupid question..
Real question should be what 65k will be after 84mo note
Just purchased 2020 F-150 Lariat, the price is 😬😬😬 but overall I love it. 3.5 eco boost, all the bells and whistles.....
How’s the power?
R2BA I love it! Quick acceleration. I was quite surprised seeings it’s a V6. I always purchase 8 cylinder, however this time I wanted the 3.5. I haven’t been disappointed. Oh and the gas mileage....😎😊😃
I'm thinking about buying a used F150 lariat 2018 what engine should I get because I don't plan to tour anything with it, I'm 6'6" I'm buying it for the interior space and the use of the bed. Also all the transmission problems have been hearing about is it a major recall or just a few trucks??
Ford f150 Crew cab 4x4 stx with v8 please review
Is this still a good buy in 2024 ? Looking at a tow vehicle. 2018 fx4 lariat with 40k miles for 33k
@@tallll70 yea, I noticed that too. Also those massaging seats in the f150 can't be beat.
Anyone else having a problem with the turbos over heating when it rains? My grandparents has a 2017 and it’s in the shop again for a new turbo’s again. This is the 2nd set of turbos. They also had a ground problem that shorted out the pcm.
Buy it is thw correct answer.
can you guys show the automatic parking feature? Also show it try to park in a spot too small for it to see what happens
The way that truck is equipped it might as well be a platinum. It has a lot of the standard features on the platinum.
After two months I gotta say that I like the Ecoboost better than the 5.0.
what is the mpg on the V8 compared to the eco boost?
When your talking about the models
Over and above the lariat you forgot the King Ranch also. The 2018 Ram and 2018 Chev/GMC don’t have power telescopic steering, adaptive cruise control,
Self parking, a full Glass Roof, power running boards, tailgate step, two way remote start (which you don’t even show when your struggling to start the truck) 2018 ram doesn’t have “air conditioned seats they just use cabin air they aren’t cooled just ventilated, LED Box lighting, HID headlights, Fordpass phone App (free) plus a ton more.
TFL has lost there game when talking about trucks. They miss a lot of things. I’ve been finding my self disliking there videos a lot as of late
Troy these guys are not fair but it doesn't matter . as long as the truth about what they don't know.
TFLnow can you do a comparison between the Subaru Ascent and the Honda Pilot?
Subaru doesn't lend them cars anymore unfortunately. They had to buy the outback they have just to have one for long term reviews
Quiet Cabin Technology is something you should comment on when testing for sound at speed. Ram identifies it on their window sticker.
That trucks stance is really nice. My 2018 doesn't seem to sit that level
Thanks TFL Truck!
You can get an oil separator for a LOT less than $500.
@@kingdaniel3519 good to know.
You guys are awesome. I really enjoy the content you are putting up! Thank you!
What was this filmed with?
Good information on truck.
Guys, why does this tester not have the ecoboost badging on the bottom of the front doors like they always have done? Is this a new thing or whoopsie on this unit? Honestly I thought it would be a 5.0 when I saw the video thumbnail. Please elaborate!
I don't think they've done the EcoBoost door badging since 2015.
“Gridations of off road trucks”. Haha, gotta love him.
Trucks are too expensive u have to win the mega million to buy a truck today
Christopher Brown, That`s an extreme bit of exaggeration wouldn`t you say?
Yeah it is but damn trucks are expensive
Or get a 800 dollar pay
I just bought a certified preowned 2015 F150 XLT with 27,000 Miles for $29,000. Shop Around. Sometimes getting used is a better choice.
why would it be a better choice if its a 2015 shitty base model? this is a lariat not a cheap ass xlt...
You can get an aftermarket bedliner from dualliner for less than a factory installation
Julie Dominesey I have a 2015 XLT 3.5 eco beast and a 2016 forester XT for a daily driver
I really hope FCA has got their act together on the new ones, but there is no way in hell I'll bet 60k of my own money on it.
dcl97 well said 💯
Never had many issues with Ram trucks.
@@dcl97 ding ding ding, your logic is great to see.
Can TFL Truck please do a video on 10 speed transmission issues with the 17-20 F-150s? Can it be trusted?
My 15 f150 had the cleats standard with the 302A package, but my 18 I had to buy myself.
Just plug in your phone for Android auto or carplay. I almost never use Sync 3, its good but it is nowhere close to Android auto
From a resale stand point it is hard to wreck the plastic !
just sold my f150 2012 platinum so happy ! got 4runner :D
That is identical to the truck I just bought only mine has a 6-inch Rough Country lift under it with hurricane rims
Tailgate step is worthless most of the time due to trailer being connected..retracting bumper steps make the most sense
Extending the cab 4 inches is not necessarily true. We parked a 2018 next to a 2019 Ram and the outside dimensions were exactly the same. I'd suggest they all found ways to gain space with more efficient interior design.
I still think the F-150 is the best choice on the market today
Nah.
Do us all a favor and stop thinking.
I did love Ford but I will not buy a pickup with a V6. Just can't do it. To light weight for real world towing. Go back to V 8 and put some weight back. I switched to Tundra and love the old 5.7.
The General to light for real world towing. IT HAS 450lbft of torque!! It hauls better than some 6+L trucks I’ve driven.
@@stephenzerfas5307
I loved my F150 5.4 I traded it in for the 5.0 as the 5.4 was not offerd. 5.0 was just ok the 5.4 was better.
@Daniel Brice
I tow a Work and Play Rv quite often.
Wish they would've kept the same air vents in the 2021 models
True. It looks cool, but for those EcoBoost engines. One needs to immediately buy an oil separator in order to avoid the build up of carbon
Ford updated the EcoBoost in 2018 to include port and direct injection.
@@supersproodle nice. Thank you very much
i have a buddy who has the 2018 Lariat with the 5.0.. he loves the truck but its been to the shop 5 times for warranty or recall work in just over a year.. exactly what ive heard from other people i know with F150's.. they just have too much technology and moving parts.. ive had a 2005 titan for 11 years with literally no issues besides reg wear and tear.. ill be going for prob a 2018 titan soon to replace.. as will be cheaper with the 2020 coming out and still has a 5 year warranty
I expected a better 0 to 60, no that much quicker than the Dodges natural v6 plus the dodge had 4 adults.
They were also rolling onto the highway here and not doing it from a straight line. Huge difference.
@@BUILTDIESELMAFIA they were also merging onto the highway with the dodge
mrchezze84 and if u look the ramp is uphill
Looks to be in the same spot. Uphill merging.
Yes mid trim level truck got so expensive 😕. And I hope ford makes a f150 to compete with trail boss, rebel & trd pro.
Andre would like the lariat sport
They also offer a twin turbo 5.0 V8 that's what my truck has in it and it is a first
There is also the supercharged V-8 rated at 755 horsepower. You can get that in an F-150 Super Snake.
They've been out for nearly 10 years. I think they've shown their reliability.
I’m at 155k right now.
Had to rebuild the trans at 142k but other than small repairs it’s still pushing
Do a Gold Mine Hill while you have the truck
