    Basically you have to add another $125 a months for your payment over 7 years, or about $4.00 a day. on the Lariat. On a serious note, unless you want to tow, get the 2.7 litre bi turbo. I love this engine, it has tons of power, and gets about 23mpg on the highway with the 4X4 model

    It's interesting how pricing changes based on location. I just bought a 2020 Lariat 502 (no sun roof, no adaptive cruise, no 360 camera, no power running boards) in Ontario Canada. Price difference was only $5,000 CND for the Lariat vs XLT well kitted out. That's like $3,500 US if I were to guess on exchange rates.

  • @jakeanderson9748
    @jakeanderson9748 4 года назад +15

    Even though I own a limited, I do think that the Lariat is the best all around truck. You can get pretty much all of the features of the more expensive trucks without paying the higher price tag. I do prefer the look of the sport package. It’s an all around great looking vehicle.

    • @user-nh3gu1ge3d
      @user-nh3gu1ge3d 2 года назад +3

      I test drove a lariat and I was not impressed with the cheap/chintzy feeling "leather" trimmed plastic floor shifter, the leather quality was very poor, and some of the features were a bit much (the adaptive CC, lane keeping, etc). I ended up getting a "souped up" XL with $9,080 of added options. Fx4, 5.0 V8, 3.73, trailer tow package, STX and Sport appearance packages, rear camera, tech package, etc. It has the column shifter which is amazing. Why would anyone want to take up a lot of space in their center console with the shifter when you can just stick it behind the wheel and then have tons of console space? I have no idea why the floor shifter is an "upgrade". Imo it's a downgrade. Same with the "leather". The quality is terrible, it peels after a couple years (I don't even think it's full grain solid leather btw) is super expensive, etc.
      I got Katzkin leather for 1k (self install) but the leather quality is much better than Fords. Why pay twice as much for shittier quality leather? Easy I guess? I added a stubby radio antenna (very short) for 27.81, I got a keypad entry code thing for 67.15 (funny enough, it's only like $45 to add factory), a Tyger T3 bed cover for $259.00, LED fogs for $56.99, and an AC power inverter (to charge tools and 110-120 wall outlet items). Oh and the Ford T plate tie down things for the bed (12.99 for 4) and bedrail retractable hooks (4 very high quality solid stainless steel for $45). All that stuff is so much cheaper than getting it from the factory (except the pin pad is 20 bucks extra) and most of it is higher quality, too. Very quick and easy installs.
      The only thing I wish I had was the push button start, that can't really be added, and I miss it (had it in my other car). But, that's not worth 10-20k more just for that one feature. Most of that crap I don't need or want. The sensors would be ok, but I don't really need them. The lane keeping crap I have on another car and f***** hate it. Got the factory camera option which was desperately needed for driving this boat for only 250. The 40/console/40 is amazing. Huge and spacious, so much room to throw tools, phone, drinks, whatever there. Console/steering column shifter is the best. The sport cloth was pretty nice, but the Katzkin is amazing.
      And what's great about the XL is the floors are that vinyl/rubber material so cleaning is out is a breeze. Fantastic truck. My lugs were those crappy ford factory ones that got all bloated and wouldn't work with the right size bar anymore so I tore them off and added Gorilla lugs off ebay for I think $50. A couple of forscan tweaks and good to go.
      I guess my advice would be: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Figure out what features you really want, and what you don't really care about. Figure out what can be easily added and what is a pain/nearly impossible to add (like push to start). Underbuy if you can easily upgrade. The aftermarket parts are often times much better quality. Fords spray in liner costs the same as Linex, but linex is way better. My $259 T3 bed cover is fantastic, why pay a thousand? The XL and the XLT are going to be your best deal by far. Get the appearance packages you want because you can't feasibly change out your bumper/paint/etc. I'm VERY happy with my truck.

They take a regular F-150 (XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum) with 5.0L V8 engine and turn it into a complete Raptor...suspension, body...hood, grille, front fenders and rear bed sides, upfitter switches, decals, etc........OR.....add Raptor suspension or very expensive aftermarket Icon Raptor type suspension, Whipple Supercharger, nice lighted fender flares, widen the rear axle......and NO Raptor body parts or decals......for way less money......but much more performance than an OEM factory Raptor.....not to mention the "cool factor".....a somewhat regular looking F-150...incognito....a "wolf in sheep's clothing" that will run circles around the OEM factory Raptor on pavement and off-road.

    I love my 2018 FX4 Lariat 502A. The 20" wheels gives such a nice ride quality. I noticed the later models do not have 20". My Costco pricing was about $53k (plus taxes, DMV, etc.) in 2018. I just finished the lease this past August and financing it at $40k. I was surprised it Blue Booked at $51k.
    I'm still finding little features that I didn't know it has, such as I just learned it has BMS and a AGM 800 CCA battery.
    Also, the grill fins fold closed on a cold start, so the engine warms quicker . I learned later (back in 2018) that year, that the steering wheel is heated, which was startling at first, but came to enjoy in the colder months. To bad, my sales guy didn't know all the details, such as you do.
    The Auto Stop/Start feature (is the only thing that I hate about it), I learned just as I pulled out from the dealer and came to the first stop light. I thought the truck stalled. I pushed the ignition button to restart the truck and got some momentary confusion, until it dawned on me that it has this feature and figured out the Auto Stop/Start off/on button on the dash above the Sync screen.
    It does not have the 360 camera and front sensors, which I wished it had, and I don't like the chrome trim. Why would Ford put chrome on a FX package? It's a Magma Red with a tannish lower trim (Ford calls it gold) two tone. The Magna Red sometimes look black and sometimes look like a Dr. Pepper color depending on the lighting (e.g. Sun light). I really like this color scheme, so I over looked and accepted the chrome details.
    All in all, great ride quality!
    I got FORSCAN to do some little extra features, such as the mirrors fold when I exit and arm the alarm.

    Great content! Solid presentation of features and how they translate into price difference. My question is why does the automotive industry not understand that when an item simultaneously has 4 plus different prices, it makes it impossible to trust any of the prices?

      Happy 4 U, I'm calling them today to help me find a 2012, cab & a half , 4by4, X L T, 1 owner, no accidents in mint condition! I've done tons of research & there informitive salesmen& lack of pressure sold me on buying from them, rather then buying direct! I will fly there from Mexico & drive it to my new half acre of land I just bought in the Florida Panhandle! I'm a TOYOTA man but I can buy the 2012 4by4, XLT & still have like an extra $3000 left over to put in front airlockers, Leer Cap, steeel bumper plus add some awesome lights for the same price of the TOYOTA TACOMA OR TUNDRA! IT'S a no brainer for me! Good luck with that beautiful new truck you just bought! Blessings

    I just got into a ‘19 Lariat FX4 (502A with moon roof, power running boards, etc.) from a ‘17 XLT Sport (302A) and it’s totally worth it. Completely refined experience when compared to the XLT. I loved my XLT, even upgraded to leather seats, but there’s no comparison.

      The exterior body lines are lame.....way more plain on the 2021 F-150 compared to the 2015 thru 2020 F-150. I sure hope Ford does not have a similar plan for the Super Duty trucks in 2022 or 2023.

    I absolutely love my 2016 Lariat. You do a great job of giving details. I like the additional features of the lariat. And the 3.5 ecoboost is great for pulling my camper. In the future I will be purchasing a 250 or a 350 for pulling a 5th wheel camper. If I wanted to stay with a gasoline engine which do you prefer? And if I was to go with deisel, what would the pros and cons be? Like you I have always been a FORD guy! Also forgot to mention the heated steering wheel.( hope they never remove that feature)

    Great video! Been a Ford truck fan since the late 80’s but honestly my ‘19 Lariet is a bit off. 14k miles in two years, so it’s not used hard, but more squeaks and rattles then I’ve ever experienced. unfortunately on its 7-8th safety recall (I’ve lost count) which may explain the quality issue. In any case Town and Country Ford, nice job.

    At the end, you mentioned that ventilated seats and the push button start as the big differences. I would add that the 4A is a big reason why people go with Lariat. I don’t have the numbers to back it up, but I also think they hold their resale value better. I love my Lariat.

    I’ve had a 2006 lariat and I just bought a 2019 lariat this year and I have to say that it is worth the difference to me. One of the thing that he didn’t mention was the digital dash that the lariat brings that the XLT doesn’t. And btw I would never pay that much for the lariat sport, you can get a platinum for that price lol

    • @austinmcbarner6648

      The packages pretty much run the same price. And just because you wouldn't, doesn't mean someone else wouldn't. I think almost all the chrome package lariats look like an old man's pawpaw truck. I sold plenty of them to old pawpaws in the Ford part of.my career as well.

    • @15Jeep

      Black is in and Chrome is out! Although not everyone, many people think modern trucks look much better with black accents instead of chrome accents. To them.....the extra cost is worth it.....so they don't have to pay more to have it done in the aftermarket. That said.....the manufacturer's are making out like bandits on the Sport and Blackout Packages. It is noticeably more expensive than it should be.

  • @humesdae

    I went with the Lariat. On the lot they had one and I got some extras, but that long bed and 4 A drive is great heading up to the mountain on some of those mixed snow, ice, wet days. Yep, paying more, but not unhappy with purchase.

      The 5.0L V8 would be a better engine choice instead of any V6. Check out PaxPower (Paxpower.com or V8Raptor.com) for upgrades to a F-150 truck. PaxPower can and does install OEM factory Raptor suspension or higher better quality Icon suspension to a regular F-150 for about $7,000.00. Moreover, you can add a Whipple Supercharger to the 5.0L V8 engine. Then....you would have a F-150 with better than Raptor performance...both on pavement and off-road.....a truck incognito...a "wolf in sheep's clothing"......way more cool than a OEM factory Raptor.
