If you are a welder then you know this is inevitable. If you painted them the same thing would happen.. it's steel! You knew it was steel when you bought them? You would have to submerg them in an undercoating bath and even then it might not coat everything. It's nearly impossible to coat every bit of bare metal.
Makes sense my truck bed is metal and it doesn’t leak all over. Vehicles do not leak rust all over. Lot of thing are made of metal and do not leak rust all over like that. I bought the same ones and they are chinsee.
I looked at those took a screen shot and built my own with a little twist to make them more to my liking I figured why am I buying welded iron to go on my welding truck I am a welder make it myself and make it better then some factory worried about profit I made mine too last longer then I will
Trust me It gets worse, Give it a few months the bearings are going to freeze up and the hubs are going to blow out on those reels, it happened to me I made a video a few years ago about it. Diamond lead reels are absolute over priced junk.
@@mcfweldingIf its only a “side gig” why did you go through the trouble of setting up a whole portable welding truck? If it's enough to buy all of that, then either build your own or do more research.
I don't understand videos like this. How much did you pay for this reel, $300? You aren't going to get some precision engineered, rust-proof system for that price point. My diamond reels on 2 separate trucks have some rust on them, absolutely, but what the hell do you expect? You can go purchase bomb proof reels for $1500 if you want, but don't be a cheap ass and then also expect perfection. Everybody wants stuff made in America, until you have to start paying American wages lmao.
Went over to watch your videos and of course there are none. Don't be hatin on Matt when he's just giving his thoughts on a product he bought. Make you some videos and we'll watch your opinions.
What do you expect when you buy cheap reels? I hate it when people buy cheap stuff knowing it’s sub par and then put out videos of how shitty the company is. Ya get what ya pay for. You know that tho. Get them views brah.
Good thing I seen this before I bought them this weekend thanks for the heads up! Looks like I just might be making my own
You're better off
Big manual loops are the way to go. Takes an extra second but the leads last longer and better arc stability.
What would you get instead?
The bearings will be toast in a couple months 2. We have the same set at work and they are definitely garbage
Bearing weld themselves together. Junk. Go with bad ass reels.
I haven't had any issues with mine
Sucks man. I know you were stoked to get them on the truck.
Damn, what a joke that will only get worse, makes me appreciate my coiled up leads

Not expected after only 1 week being on the truck

Buy some Chevy wheel bearings with races weld the walls to hold the leads to them with pipe in the middle paint it hood you off to the races

Damn sorry to see this bruh!!

My reels lasted maybe 4 months before they grenaded.
Y luego con el peso de los cables se vencen
😂 go spend 1500+ on good reels then. I’ve had mine for 2-3 months. And don’t have any issues.
When the welding is a side gig with maybe 1 or 2 jobs a month $1500 reels just dont make sense.
