I bought a double lead reel set-up and installed it in a toolbox on my truck after having had 2sets of leads stolen, I was p.o.and not thinking about building one. I like what you came up with!! Pretty dang slick set-up!! Also subscribed
I'm really sorry I didn't videotape on detailing how to make the welding real I should have recorded everything that I did. The C Channel all I did is laid it down I had some 1 inch round stock that I measured and cut laid it on top of the back of the C Channel put a level on it and then welded the round stock that holds both reels on the back of the C Channel then I welded the c Channel to a 5" inch flat stock plate of metal. drilled 4 holes and bolted on my truck. The pull pins I had to measure and cut down to the right length I had to drill holes in the C Channel and on the inside of the c Channel I welded these little square tube metal that's what stops the pull pin with the ring on it. on the inside where the welding real is there is a washer. spring and a lock nut that fits on the pull pins to keep that spring action to pull back in the real to stop it. I hope this helps. If I make a other one I will record it all how I mad it.
GW thanks for taking the time just sharing vid of the finished product. Question: where do i buy the wheels, spinner handles etc or did you fab those too? A rough pencil sketch diagram would help my pea brain understand what goes where but ill get there:)
very nice, thanks! Is it ok to weld , having the leads coiled into the reels? Doesn't it create some sort of magnetic field or creates a dangerous situation?
Oh yeah I ran 50 feet of 4.0 on them on my buddies sa 400 pipeline welder. I can stand on them the way I made them supper strong. The round solid stock going through the reels is 1 1/4 pure Steel.
I'm running 1.0 wire and only running 70 feet on the reels. But I can run more if need to. You can run on these reels with 1.0 wire about 150 feet or more. holds a lot..
Ya one day I'll make some more and record it all I just haven't had the time to do any videos I've been super busy with work, it will be soon and I'll do a video on them I'm going to make new one, thanks for the interest in the video.

Hell yeah cuz!
I would honestly love a better view of the parts involved in making the locking pin. That setup is genius.
I'll make a video of the parts soon to show what I used and how I set it up, it work very well, thank you.
@@GW-po5fjI would appreciate that too, Great budget build!!!

Yea it can ground out to the truck and mess your rig truck battery/batteries
About how much lead does it fit you?
Think those reels will hold up 2/0 leads pretty good?
