- Installing some lead reels on my truck. No more rolling lead up by hand. They should make it easier to clean up at the end of the day.

I like that heat shrink too but when I use those copper lugs I get some solder with the flux in it cut up the solder put it in the lug heat it up until it melts and stick your wire in there makes a great connection
I thought about doing that, but since i wont be using this truck every week i settled for the crimp method
Piece of advice. Anti Seize on all hardware on your Lenco's, this will allow you to reuse them. TRUST ME! They are getting more and more expensive! Notice you have a 305D. Do a quick review on it. I'm considering a smaller diesel unit. Great attention to detail by the way!
Good to know. ill go over the connections after the build is done. The machine is a good unit. I had to do alot of work to it to get it to run good after someone put gas in it and ran it for about an hour
Sweet Dude LOOKING GREAT!
Esta chingona la troca bien equipada.
That rig is nice
Bro, that #1 cable is all you need with a small mobile business that you run out for your garage (same as me). I just ordered 200' of #1 for $549. As you know, you will hardly run in to anything over 1/4" to 1/2" and rarely be over 150 amps. The chart says you can go 200' at 150 amps with #1 AWG cable and 100' at 250 amps, which is all my machine will do anyway. I bet you might use those 1/0 like once a year. I do a lot of lawn trailers and small farm equipment, so 3/16" is what I see mostly, and I get to park pretty close.
I suggest you get some locking reel covers to put on those because well thieves Love copper I learned the hard way now my leads are covered with a padlock it's a worthwhile investment
I will have something on them eventually
That rig is looking good 👍
Thanks scott, i appreciate it alot
I really appreciate this channel keep up the great work
What are your thoughts on them now, almost a year later?
That 250' of lead was a steal for half off! (maybe even literally)😂😂
Not a bad score. i think i paid around $500 for the spool. Everywhere i looked it went for $800-$1000 new online.
@@mcfwelding For sure! I bought a YesWelder multiprocess machine and used it for stick a lot with the original 10' leads and after 2 years my positive lead caught on fire and melted in half. It turned out the copper strands got all brittle and started to crumble inside the inside the insulation making a bunch of resistance catching it on fire.
Anyway, I wanted to upgrade to genuine USA #1 cable with 25' leads so the 50' set me back about $200 with shipping from bakers gas. That hurt as an unexpected cost for sure! I shouldve looked for deals!
Keep up the great work on your rig brother! 👍
Love your videos dude, but dielectric means non-conductive. If you want to use it to protect the terminals, you need to make the connection first, then put the grease over to protect it from the elements. Just food for thought
Just so you know dialectic grease is non-conductive dialectic grease is an insulator
Good
You may have said it and I missed it but why would you not just want to load up 100’ on both reels. That’s what I did and I have no issue with voltage drop within 100’ and I don’t use I don’t un spool and better than carrying extra sections on the truck. Rig looks good 👍🏼
Would like have the extra laying around if I ever need it
Oh dude. There’s a place to get 200’ of 1/0 for around $500.00
Wish I knew you was lookin
damn that would have been nice
Good news! thank you!
Do tell...
I just paid 950 for 200'
issues yet? Ive had the best luck with Aluma-reel's so far.
No problems yet
I'll tell you right now that you'll never not use your reels. I put a set of diamond reels on my truck a little over a year ago and they've been great.
yea you're probably right lol
Still a good idea to keep the quick connects on the machine though. If you ever gouge you’ll want a short set of 2/0’s handy.
@@mikemccrea1935 spot on.
Didn't have any issues with yours locking up?
@@triggeringliberals405 nope and I go through periods where my reels just sit for weeks because I'm running off my MULTIMATIC or in the shop and I have yet to have an issue.
Just buy some red electrical tape it works good and probably cheaper than red quick connects.
Yea thats a good idea, i ended up picking up a green one at my local welding supply so that will work.
Mark my words in about 1 year you are going to be kicking yourself for buying those reels the bearings burnout very quickly even with grease and oil and eventually The hub will completely explode and fall off the spindle and you won't be able to turn them by hand they will completely lockup I made a RUclips video three years ago about this situation I had two sets they both did the exact same thing I grease them with a needle greaser covered them up when not in use and they both failed within a year I'll never buy diamond reels again they are garbage.
Not to mention the hub is supposed to be electrically disconnected from the base that is mounted to but it's not it'll arc out and I believe that is what causes the bearings to explode and lock up over time they do look good and work great at first but they just don't last. I still have the reels and can show you exactly what happened with mine in a video or email if you're interested. Anyway just a heads up to a fellow welder.
I am not impressed by them already. there is rust water dripping out of them once i unspool... not happy about it. and a few spots that got missed when powder coated that flash rusted the first night out in the rain
Probably coulda made those reels for well under a hundo and less than a day's labor and they'd be better quality.
maybe, but when i purchased these last year... time was not my friend at the moment
Not everyone's poor
Are you a mule for the cartel? Just asking.
????
If i am, I am unaware.....
@@mcfwelding That was a strange random question wasn't it.
