just a single video and now all myy points are clear regarding Resistance welding.Even this is the first time that I have completely understood the concept of Diodes and Inverters. thank you so much. Keep working !
Great video i don't think there to many companies that explain how well their product work!! great info on how current travels AC turns into DC well explained!!!
Very well explained. That shrill high pitch music is a big No No. Thanks for the video for the in-depth knowledge. Regards from Antonio, Goa the state of India.
Very good informative explanation for each topic you picked up... made a very good understanding of each aspect of increasing productivity and reducing losses for effective spot welding.. thanks for nice upload
I was wanting to know if it is possible to spot weld 2 tubes of stainless together that are.312" x .063" wall????? Just butt them together, and a few small spot welds on the seam where they meet.......that's all, but was wanting to use a Harbor Freight spot welder??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help on this matter.
Thank you very much for sharing this video! It looks somewhat oldschool, but the information presented here is very valuable to me. Its the first useful explanation I found on the internet on how an inverter works, even Wikipedia does not explain that so well. Btw, does "shunting" mean that the current on the 2nd, 3rd etc. spot weld is less strong than on the first one? Because some current bypasses through other spot weld points on the workpiece?
Lejf Diecks good question. Better if we had an answer. My belief is it could be detrimental to the newest weld permeation thus making it not as strong? Thoughts?
Lejf Diecks , I repaired and maintained resistance welders for 38 years . trucks was our product . Metal thickness from 1.5 to 10 millimeters in steel , 1.5 to 6 millimeters in aluminum .Shunting becomes a problem if weld spacing is less than 70 millimeters .
Vishnu Sekar ,resistance weld controls are programmed to control, squeeze , weld , hold and off time in increments of units of 1 hz . Also can increase current up and down during each weld . To clarify Squeeze time is time to apply force before current , weld is current flow , hold is time to allow weld to solidify and cool tip force is maintained ,off is time between welds usually only used in manual operation by a human operator . Controls can also interface with automation , sending a signal that we called "weld complete signal " Hope this information is useful . You may to find more info if you search for Resistance Welder Manufacturers Association .. R, W. M . A .
What is the effect of shunting? What i sould see that the current followed an alternate low resistance path. Won't this cause the spot welder to fail? because there is not enough current flow at the point.
A shunt could be described as a leak on a water hose. If the leak is small you won't loose much water pressure at the nozzle, but you can still measure how many drops that leak out to calculate the pressure inside the hose. What they mean by shunting in this particular video is very hard to figure out since their only comment is "shunting". But yes you are correct, if the current were to flow as depicted in the video the spot welder would fail catastrophically as there is no current flowing through the point that you want to heat up! This can't happen though. I'm not sure what it is they are trying to depict in the video, but there is no way that current will ever take the path of greater resistance as shown here.
I have been working with this type of machine for a few months and the magnetic field produced by the machine is destroying my headphones. Does anyone know a solution to my problem?
Paul, Yes the metal needs to be cleaned/ bear where the welding tips touch on either side, the coatings can remain in the middle of the stack, this typically includes corrosion protection products, weld through primers, adhesives etc...
I like how they gave an example of how the machine sounds when actually used with the animation little things like that are a big help
Best. Explanation. Hands down.

I seriously love you guys. Thanks for the video!
Very good explanation!
Now I understand!!!! Thanks for the explanation...

Great Video, Very Good Explanation on Spot Welding and it Parameters and Testing Methods
Great video and information!
awesome video!
good presentation!
very thanks Sir it's very useful for me.
You guys are awesome
Thanks for Video!
Great video
Nice, I'm on that informative side of youtube!
I went to the school 2 months to learn this thing ha ha ha ha!!!Great video!!!
excellent video
it good explanation .
make more for educated .
thank you .
This I a fantastic video

such great info
Excellant explanation then other
very nice video
very informative
learned more in 7minutes than in a 1hour lecture
we spot weld in our metals class, its pretty fun.

Love the aspect ratio
Thank you very mach
nice vid
Thank you
Please provide more..
Great ....,,,
I just came for the music
Catchy tune.....
Qual é a corrente de solda
Bro how much time that needs to fuse the metal
Why cant we use 100% DC, for example adding capacitor on output?
@4:44 how can you use inverter with 3ph or 1ph ac as an input :0 ???
Nice, but what is shunting??
I want to ask something... Reply me
Is there a way to measure the metrics like hold time, sqeeze time, pulses etc?
Vishnu Sekar ,resistance weld controls are programmed to control, squeeze , weld , hold and off time in increments of units of 1 hz . Also can increase current up and down during each weld . @@gbzhemn1 Resistance is measured in micro ohms .
they make DC rectifiers for single phase to, and with a big enough smoothing capacitor, whats the big deal?
I have been working with this type of machine for a few months and the magnetic field produced by the machine is destroying my headphones. Does anyone know a solution to my problem?
He said AC current -.-
A single phase rectifier uses four diodes.
A three phase rectifier uses six diodes.
rectifying 3phase with 4 diodes... geniuses...
Molnár Áron hahahaha
This left a lot unexplained, for instance welding from 1 side only as in tabs to batteries.
I just could not understand the ending section of video. 'shunting'
wow.. I did not hot rot, know that spot weld is powerful,,, lovely, now I would like to fine one cow and kick it,,
After 12 years...
It is from 1990 probably!
Does the metal have to be clean at the surface or can there be a thin film of scale ?
Paul, Yes the metal needs to be cleaned/ bear where the welding tips touch on either side, the coatings can remain in the middle of the stack, this typically includes corrosion protection products, weld through primers, adhesives etc...
@@ryanswanson5108 thank you!
Very instructive but the soundtrack is annoying.
Excellent info but, sheesh, kill that annoying music in the background.
Tamil la explain pannunga
Deepak Dhoni poda sotta
Nugget lol
our machine do not welding sir
I get the idea, but that's not a sin curve.
3:25 You mean a... FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER??
