Anyone who has stickers on their hood is a poser. Union welder for 20 yrs
That might be the most stupid fuckin thing I've ever heard. But hey what do I know I'm just a poser
lmao, ive met a naval welder and he loved to put stickers in his hood and loved custom hoods, 30 years in his hands building ships that are still out there
HuRdUr uNiOn WeeLDer stfu as long you do well your job no one gives a damn if you are wearing your wife's panties
@1969darr damn, aren’t you a ray of sunshine who’s opinion NOBODY values! 🤡
classic old head move lmao "I dont understand so ill shit on it"
Lmao "uNiOn WeLdEr FoR 20 YeArS" nobody gives a shit bro.
You are absolutely correct! We had an Upstate NY Plumbing & HVAC company. We got a "no heat call" in the middle of the night on Christmas eve. The customer (an elderly lady) said that she had called several companies before calling us. We repaired her furnace by noon on Christmas day. We had to cannibalize several units we had in stock to get parts. It turned out that her relative was an executive for a big grocery store chain. We got the Grocery store account that amounted to a very large portion to our business expansion. You NEVER know!
Helping a grandma is already a W in my book.
Merry Christmas!
I have noo issue with doing some of the small jobs. One thing I learned early on was telling drop in clients that I could do a job right away, while they wait. Too many of these jobs turned into bargaining sessions because the customer said they were getting ripped off. "job only took half an hour why are you charging so much?" Tell them to come back in two days. These customers need to wait a bit to value the job.
welding equipment cost money
That’s when you say, you see all this super expensive equipment that I’ve got that not many people have or know how to use that’s why the cost is what it is
I can't stand that shit. I'm not a welder, I'm an electrician and I hear the same thing.
Yes! Always have them drop it off.
3rd year welder working in Los Angeles. This vid helps me set goals for where I’ll be in a few years. Thanks for sharing!
I once had a guy ask for gussets and even told me where he wanted them, but he had me put them right where the nount needed to be, so now I always want to see the thing it mounts to.
Well said. 75k is mostly for the machine it attatches to. You need to understand the WHOLE machine before you start adding pieces (gussets). It's just not that simple. You will find yourself in a bad position. It's inevitable, if you dont understand what you're actually working on. Clearly, he didn't. Hope he got lucky this time
75k! Wow! You're right brother, I did a small job for a flooring place, then they had me do three more jobs, and I've done some work for two of their employees. I'm actually lucky because one shop sucks and the other one looks like it's closed down. Plus, Florida eats steel like it's candy.😆 I always come to your videos to get inspiration to keep going. I finally got a welder that will burn those 6010s you sent me!
Words of Wisdom my friend! Great to see someone that is willing to put in the work and not just have crap given to them.
Nice job. Hope it brings you much work!
Yessir! Love the small repair jobs. Thanks for the upload! 💯💰👨🏾🏭🤙🏿
Worked golf course maintenance for a few years and I've never seen a piece of equipment like that, but by the size of the hoses and the fact that it's for sand I'd say iits for sanding in aeration holes after plugging their greens and fairways. Pretty slick tool.
like how you exlain in clear and easy ways
Nice job man. Little jobs like this are where it's at. For broken stuff I do fitment the exact same way. That way the broken pieces key together properly with no questions if they were in the right spot. A little die grinder can be a help too. Nice work!
Thats the way i found to be easiest
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. You da man!
I just welded up a huge vibrating rock tumbler last month and when you are working on something that vibrates constantly you need to avoid wrapping corners of the welds because the vibrations will crack much much faster in the corners. I believe my foreman said the spec was the weld had to end at least 1/4 inch from the edge of the joint. All 3/16-1/4 typ fillet with some 3/8 multipass that was typ for the lifting lugs
Clean Job .. awesome repair …
Word of mouth is the best advertising. Do what you said you'd do and they'll pay your price. You build the trust with most people and it will be worth alot. Also, go with your gut feeling, sometimes it will divert you from disaster. Sometimes that Spidey Sense knows before you do. Keep up that hustle bro
Good man, have a blessed day America
started my business doing small repairs on landscaping trailers now im building landscaping trailer 6-7 a year small jobs pay off in the long run 50 % of my work is less than 3 hour jobs
nice!
Going into welding school this August looking to
change my life
Great job!
Good repair well done, those small Gussets cetainly added strength, no way will that break again.
I have been passing out business cards, i had a small sign made at a local printer after you said you got a job from having the sign in your front yard, its been about three months and no calls yet. I think i will hit up the local golf courses as well after watching this.
I really like your channel and my
wife says you sound like a nice guy, she’s a pretty good judge of character👍
Keep it up bro 💪🏼
Just had my first call out, fixed a trampoline, the welding was quick and the kids mom was happy. Hope it leads to more work, it was a cool feeling to get it welded up for the kids.
@@johnmount1622 hell yeah man ! I wish you all the best with the business
Careful with the sign. my town just told me to take mine down since i dont have a business and "cant" run one at my house... check with your town first
Thanks for the advice.
Looks good mang. Pretty specialized piece of kit there.
sure is
Im going to start learning to weld in a few months. I want a skill to not only help me and earn me money, but help people find quality work. I hope to get good enough to start some side work.
nice job dude
💯 absolutely agree he never know who's going to see it. You are you that person's going to drop your name to nice work.
Exactly!
Nice work
I hope you were really able to check how it mounts for yourself. The best way to get rid of vibration and would save your welds from stress cracks is polyurethane between the tabs with something like a nylon spacer between the poly and the metal. Or even just a thick nylon spacer to deflect the vibes. Def use a zinc primer before you paint. not trying to be bossy, but I've been alive for a long time, long enough to know that when I'm doing something, I'm putting my name on it. You touched it last so it's all on you. take care and stay safe.
Great tip when welding the crack never thought of that
Thanks 👍
Listen man I absolutely love your content bought a welder to do od jobs around the house and for some minor things for friends here and there. But I have to get this out of my head... you look and sound just like Kevin James. Now that I got that out of the way great content and I'm glad you're getting jobs. Are you running as an LLC and are you insured for your work? I've been thinking of branching out since I'm done with my stuff I like welding but I've nothing to weld any more for the time being and I don't want to miss any opportunities for making some cash on the side with it.
Filling in the porosity holes with paint
Looks factory great job.
better then factory
Let your work, do the talking for you 👍
6:29 is that weld busted around the corner?
I think it's for injecting sand into the greens after core aeration.
I think your right
Better than factory
Im getting started in the welding industry and am looking to pick up any side work that deals with me laying a bead. That being said what do you think has been the best way for you to get your services known to those around you? Word of mouth and social media ads I would assume?
check out my side work video
Serious question, would hard facing that bracket work as an alternative to gussets? Or would hard facing have to be additional to the gussets or unnecessary all together ?😅
It's not a wear part so no hardfacing
Wouldn’t do anything, hard facing it only to stop wear on stuff like buckets augers etc. it’s very brittle and wouldn’t add any strength to this. It also looks like this part doesn’t touch the ground or anything so hard facing isnt needed
Good stuff. What’s your main gig. I’m starting my own shop, I come from an art/design background and interested in outdoor/mobile stuff. Thanks
I'm a steamfitter
75K for that thing? Maybe just make more of that thing... :)
Smartest comment of all
I do the machinist equivalent of this, so I end up doing a little welding, and even blacksmithing, which I like, cause I've made 1000 of the same thing in a row, and I'd rather fix one of these, one of those, but I probably have adhd, lol.
Nice video. I got a flux welder for Christmas. It's been years since I took a welding class. What small projects would you recommend I start practicing on to gain experience and skill?
maybe build a little end table out of some square tubing, that's always a good option
@@mcfwelding Thank you for the suggestion.
you can tell a certified welder from other you tubers who weld outstanding process getting full penetration. thats how it should be done I know you know what your doing enjoy the channel
Some of the best welders I know don’t have 1 single cert......certificates don’t necessarily make a welder
@@sawboneiomc8809
I'm a PAINTER/ARTIST
I'm 67 , I welded a lot 30 years ago, just bought a
TITANIUM 125 FLUX CORE WELDER $200.00
IT WEIGHTS 15 LBS
GOT THIS AT HARBOR FREIGHT
ONCE A WELDER ALWAYS A WELDER, LIKE RIDING A BICYCLE
indeed you cant tell whos certified or not. As with any trade/career. some people just have a good work ethic and knowledge/skill. You dont get that from a piece of paper.
How fo you like that m18 flat head. I gotta order one, i keep putting ut off
worth every penny
Are you putting a new piece
Im starting welding school this august 2024, do you recommend working for someone else to get some experience before going out on your own?😊
Absolutely I would recommend that
That's off a hydroject it shoots sand and water down into the soil😊
I found that out once they came and picked it up, pretty cool machine
@mcfwelding it's big business we get it done every year.
👍
What welding hood are you using?
I use a basic fibre metal hood with a rod shield lens, check out the link in the description
how much did you charge for a repair like this?
I charged $250
Did you give a price before you fixed it
Nope, gave him the price after
I need some stickers
maybe one day jim curly
Wait, you're MIG welding outside? Why? lol unless it's FCAW, but in that case why do you have a nozzle lol genuine questions
how did this customer know to call you? how do you advertise? whats your marketing strategy?
essentially this customer is my neighbor so, he drives by my house everyday and sees what I do.
I would've just cut off the old bracket and built a entirely new one out of thicker angle iron. Then added thicker gussets.
In the end it looks good tho ! Probably worked just fine as well..😁
It's been holding up, I think if it happens again that would be the next option.
Don’t be paranoid lol
great work, i just hate how you painted over the dirt :/
It'll be fine
PrimeWeld?
yes sir
Hey
hey
You should give that guy the name of narizón
75k and they probably put a rookie on it
Mostly likely
ya what did you charge him? thats the point of the video.
Is it? I don't come out and say what I charge my customers most of the time.
CASH ONLY !
that's right
I like to fix and don’t want them to return and say %*#$@
You won't make crap doing small job its always the little old lady with the handle broken off her tea pot wanting to only pay 75 cents.
Well this isn't an old lady with a chair. Did you watch the whole video
Die grinder
How do you even get these type of jobs, I have my business on Facebook instagram and offer up I get no calls nothing I really need help
Word of mouth now, I live next to this golf course so the owner drives past my house everyday so that's how I got this one. most of my work comes from Instagram. start following local landscapers and the work should come
Those welds are trash. Sloppy
