What world do you live in? More than half of people who get married need to borrow money via loans or credit. It’s like telling people not to borrow money for college or a home or a car. It’s not a practical expectation in 2024.
So Shy apparently tells them he has "no money coming in" because he is a disabled vet. BS. I have 3 co-workers that have a "partial" VA disability and they receive $1,200 + monthly tax-free disability pay from the VA even though they work full-time in physically demanding jobs. Then he lies to them and states his ex-wife stole all the wedding gift money even though a court found evidence he did. The plaintiffs need to wake up. Shy is lying to them that he has no money so he does not have to pay anyone back for money owed.
I think the Plaintiff's lost all credibility when they started off asking for the FULL amount. They lent it to TWO people and are only suing one because they're "family" with the other?? I'd feel a bit more sympathetic for them if they were suing for half since it was only one half of the party they felt the need to sue. But it's also quite clear that Shy was a big part of this whole issue.
I got married in the county magistrate's living room, wearing a $50 dress that I wore to my sister's wedding three years prior, witnessed by about 6 family members. Hubby and I will celebrate 33 years in September.
It appears they don't want to hold Shy accountable for anything. If he is disabled, he gets a Veterans check and should at least make payments. They have clearly taken Shy's side on it and only blame her. Really sad.
It always fascinates me when people are together for years and than get married and get divorced immediately its like all the red flags werent that bad until the words forever were uttered
I was thinking the same thing, like what changes exactly? Is it because they were not living together, why should making it official change anything? Unless they were both pretending and just wanted to be married for superficial reasons.
I have seen this phenomenon so many times that it doesn't surprise me anymore. People say that it's just a paper but there's something about that paper. Couples with children, living together for lot of years and soon as they say I do, it's over. It goes downhill from there.
I think failing relationships try to save it by getting married or having kids. Rather than accept the relationship doesn’t work they try to take it to (in their minds) the next level. Maybe then it will work. But that’s obviously goofy.
After my wedding, my husband and I were driving home and he turned to me and said with a big grin, “I don’t have to put on an act anymore.” We were divorced a year and 2 weeks later. Can’t get a divorce in Texas when your pregnant or it would’ve been over sooner. He lied about his ability to conceive so the pregnancy was a shock for me.
If you dont have the money, dont have a big wedding. Just go to City Hall and get it done there. A good friend of mine got married when he was 18-19 and just about to go into the military, but having no money, they just went to City Hall. No shame in that. In fact, they’re still married ~30 years later and have raised 2 kids.
Why in the hell would you go to an older couple that you're not even related to ask to fund your wedding and then you basically took advantage of them that's crazy! And they used to DV status!
My wife managed to find a wedding dress that only cost $90, and it was perfect. We loved it and if offered the gift of a more expensive one, we wouldn't have swapped it. She looks a million bucks in the photographs. That was just two years ago. Working within a budget is not a limitation, it is a challenge to work harder to find the things that are both affordable and wonderful.
I photographed weddings for 30 years, and I found that women are always the ones who want the big wedding. It’s their “special day” and they get to be a “princess”. The groom is generally just one more accessory for the day. I know that sounds cynical, but that’s what I saw.
And they also paid for her wedding dress. She has the nerve to want it to sell it and keep the money for herself instead of using that to pay them back
If the ex-husband is like a son to the plaintiff, that means she loaned the money based on his merit.. I feel like the defendant was lying about being on that call but the plaintiff is PATHETIC for going after the defendant and not the ex husband, when she knows that only he could have asked her for it.
Wow!! First of All I call BS on the fact that Shy is a Disabled Vet with No income. Disabled Vets get a monthly check. 2nd I'm surprised Judge didn't address that or atleast make a comment about Disabled Vets getting a check every month.
Husband and I had our dream wedding at the court house, my dress was $60 and I got a ton of compliments. I guess thats why we own our home and the car in the drive way😂
I don’t understand the verdict. I thought JM said the Defendant was responsible Jointly and Severally….being the venue was both of their responsibility
They're both responsible if in fact the defendant was also a part of the initial phone call as the plaintiff claimed. But the defendant said she wasn't part of it, that it all went through Shy and he's the one who gave her the information and therefore the permission (as HE had been given authority by the plaintiff) to pay for the venue. I tend to think that the judge felt it was unfair they were going after only the defendant for the full amount especially when the plaintiff kept shaking her head even as she heard the judgment from the divorce court Judge, that SHY had actually run off with the money and not the other way around as he claimed to the plaintiffs. So he had money they could pursue from him too, but they showed they just didn't want to because they clearly favor him. Which is irritating. So I think the judge latched on to any piece of proof that could conceivably show that the defendant was telling the truth, that she was not part of the initial phone call, and let her off the hook so the plaintiffs can go after con man Shy instead.
The defendant said she didn't input it and then sent a message that Shy told her she could. That's contradicting, but I guess that didn't matter. She also stated she wasn't initially on the call but was added.
It amazes me these days how so many people live beyond their means. How small of a person would you have to be to ask somebody who is not even related to you to pay for your wedding gown and your wedding venue? I grew up being taught that if you didn't have the money for something then you went without it. Or you saved up for it. Everybody has to have instant gratification these days they have to have it right now. So let's just put ourselves or others in debt because we just have to have something right now and something that we can't afford
She would be lucky to get $100 for a used wedding dress. People often think they can recoup a large part of what they paid for a wedding dress, not true.
I don't feel sorry for either side. The plaintiff's were foolish to loan it and the defendant and her ex both owe and no matter how itty everyone thinks the ex is the defendant chose him and married him after 3 years of dating and knowing him all her life. She knew just who she was involved with. She is a liar and seems like she putting in a front also. She said it was a gift so why would she then at 13:25 interrupt to say payments were made to them. They both owe and used that woman. Judge ruled on her personal feelings. Now they need to sue shy and leave him to sue for half back from her.
my dad (God rest his soul now) was in Marines an in mid 2000s got VA benefits an also ssd an recieved over 4,000 a month. He had 4 back surgeries an other surgery can't remember now what they were but he was 100% disabled through the military which he said he originally injured his back while in Marines. He was 67 when he passed 5-4-23. He was my real life hero.
It's important to have the wedding the bride has always dreamed of having. It's her chance to be a princess for a day and to have beautiful pictures and videos taken that make her look beautiful and like she's having fun and pictures that capture the love that is happening that day and to collect cash to pay for the whole thing.
Nah, the old couple just wanted to stick the ex with everything. If they only sued for half or sued both of them jointly, then yea, she'd be evil but imagine having an ex run off with all your money then the old couple he borrowed it from only comes after you while they're treating him like a saint. HE has the money and she had to take him to court for her half but yea, blame the women because he's a failure I guess.
Seems like Shy had a habit of lying and very quickly both plaintiff and defendant were finding out they were lying, but the plaintiff didn't want to believe Shy was lying to them.
My daughter got married in May we got her a dress that was $200, cake was $100, pictures were taken by a photographer friend of them. She's a good size to buy off the rack for a few hundred or check consignment shops for great buys.
These parents made Shy the bratty spoiled person he is now. Sad.
"parents"
He's just a close friend of their daughter. Not their kid. They didn't raise him at all.
Her ex should be responsible to.
dating 3.5 years, known each other for 15. And it only took 2 months of marriage to realize he was a deadbeat?
@@S.K.Smith-Green What??? I'm so sorry 😞
I guess Shy was too shy to appear in court 😂😂😂
A $1400 wedding dress she'll wear once. Once?! Spend the money on a cruise, instead.
Or just take vows at the courthouse.
Why would she want to go floating petri dish
Don’t have money but picked a $1400 dress because someone else would pay for it. That’s shameless.
She should work at a farm to milk cow.
This Shai…WHY WASNT HE IN COURT? DIS-ABLE???
They didn't sue him and he's no longer married to the young lady. Why would he be there, given all that?
@@granitemoss1451 well they should have sued both of em
Why in the hell would you go to an older couple that you're not even related to ask to fund your wedding and then you basically took advantage of them that's crazy! And they used to DV status!
My wife managed to find a wedding dress that only cost $90, and it was perfect. We loved it and if offered the gift of a more expensive one, we wouldn't have swapped it. She looks a million bucks in the photographs. That was just two years ago.
Working within a budget is not a limitation, it is a challenge to work harder to find the things that are both affordable and wonderful.
People who loan money to other people who don't give a damn about them shouldn't expect much.
I photographed weddings for 30 years, and I found that women are always the ones who want the big wedding. It’s their “special day” and they get to be a “princess”. The groom is generally just one more accessory for the day. I know that sounds cynical, but that’s what I saw.
Couldn’t afford the dress, the venue … then she wants the dress to sell it?!? All these folks deserve each other.
and how do you plan a wedding with no money 🤦🏽♀️ rely on someone else to fund it 🙄
It's absolutely insane. I would be embarrassed
People use gofundme often for it
Who plan's to get married and expects others to pay and get into debt for the wedding?
She should go after the shy guy.
She should have paid half because they should both be liable for their wedding venue bill not that old lady it wasn’t her wedding
And they also paid for her wedding dress. She has the nerve to want it to sell it and keep the money for herself instead of using that to pay them back
Love JMM, such a good Judge and role model. This old case is still relevant, so many poor couples over-extending for a wedding… 🙄
That’s crazy she ain’t have to help pay that loan it’s was both they wedding
Sorry Mama go sue shy😂😂😂😂😂
Plaintiffs are delusional.
No money for a dress and wedding but will pay for a LAWYER! How cringe!
you can sue SHY!
The plaintiff claims Shy is a disabled vet with "no money coming in". Yeah right.
Their love for Shy is blind! He used them, took advantage of them...
If the ex-husband is like a son to the plaintiff, that means she loaned the money based on his merit.. I feel like the defendant was lying about being on that call but the plaintiff is PATHETIC for going after the defendant and not the ex husband, when she knows that only he could have asked her for it.
The close-up on her toothless mouth got me dead! lol 🤣🤣
The judge ruled wrong once again
Wow!! First of All I call BS on the fact that Shy is a Disabled Vet with No income. Disabled Vets get a monthly check. 2nd I'm surprised Judge didn't address that or atleast make a comment about Disabled Vets getting a check every month.
plaintiff got robbed big time by both these thieves 😂
Say if he gets $1,000 a month, he could pay $100/ month and they would be paid back in a little over a year!
The defendant said she didn't input it and then sent a message that Shy told her she could. That's contradicting, but I guess that didn't matter. She also stated she wasn't initially on the call but was added.
The girl is sorry as the day is long.
Invest in the marriage! NOT THE WEDDING😮😊
They were really after her
Why would she want a dress from a marriage that was so brief? To sell it and not repay her? I’d be offended as well. Shy also is a scammer…
I think the defendant should have had to pay for the wedding dress.
How do you date someone for 3 years and not know they're crazy? Guarantee there were many flags.
The defendant looks like Reese Witherspoon
3:09 How financial idiotic do you have to be to open a credit card in order to finance a wedding? 😳🙁
Wrong priorities or trying to keep up with the Joneses.
Exactly why I eloped lol
If you get divorced after a few months you either have terrible decision making skills or are insanely gullible.
She would be lucky to get $100 for a used wedding dress. People often think they can recoup a large part of what they paid for a wedding dress, not true.
How can you start a marriage under such a cloud of financial debt and sleep at night? On top of that ,collect the wedding gifts,wtf...
The ex wife makes me sick. Give the woman her money back. Pay her for the dress and wedding. Veteran needs to pay half.
My entire wedding cost less than $500. Spending thousands of dollars on 1 day is ludacris to me
It is a special day. You have to spends big money.
my dad (God rest his soul now) was in Marines an in mid 2000s got VA benefits an also ssd an recieved over 4,000 a month. He had 4 back surgeries an other surgery can't remember now what they were but he was 100% disabled through the military which he said he originally injured his back while in Marines. He was 67 when he passed 5-4-23. He was my real life hero.
I love ❤ This Judge...very easy to speak too!
It's important to have the wedding the bride has always dreamed of having. It's her chance to be a princess for a day and to have beautiful pictures and videos taken that make her look beautiful and like she's having fun and pictures that capture the love that is happening that day and to collect cash to pay for the whole thing.
So sad at the end, that Bailey couldn't stop laughing at the whole case & her divorce. What a lack of empathy. 🙄
@@Fribee83Agreed. Thank you. He's probably a mama's boy.
She’s over it.
@@Fribee83Exactly!
Oh please. You’re mad she’s happy that a bum is out of her life? 😂
Grandma does look like she has a hot mouth for sure. I believe that she did call her some outrageous names.
Deep, nasty bigots
Disabled vets do you get money from the government every month! Lady.
Proof love don't pay the bills. That's why I would NEVA MARRY BROKE PEOPLE 😂😂😂
Disabled vets are compensated by the VA
I just Love Love Judge Milian.Very fair and funny at times.Love the dramatics!
Did the wedding at my parents' backyard decorations from Amazon, home speaker, food prepared by us. They both were happy. Invited only close family and friends which was about 40-50 guests
They are hilarious with their stories. What a cool couple. I'm a big fan...
There are many things you shouldn't get a loan for or use a credit card for and a wedding is one of those things.
