      @@Jason_Hermann I'm looking for the optimal settings on the Sony FX30 to eliminate motion blur when shooting moving cars on the street. Currently, setting the shutter speed to auto seems to be the only way to achieve some clarity and smoothness. However, the general rule is to set the shutter speed to double the fps. When I shoot with auto shutter speed, it often goes to 1/800 or 1/1000, which doesn't align with the rule, and there are still clarity issues with moving cars.
      This issue also persists when I'm stationary in a chair, moving the camera in a circular motion. Even large letters on a cereal box appear blurred. I've tried adjusting the shooting mode to Flexible Exposure Mode and even manual mode. I've set the focus to Continuous AF and also experimented with manual focus. Additionally, I've tested different auto focus transition speeds, such as 5, and AF shift sensitivity settings, ranging from 5 to 1. I've also played with focus area settings, trying both wide and spot focus.
      Despite these efforts, I haven't been able to eliminate motion blur or the slight shaking of objects. It's as if the letters aren't entirely clear when I'm shooting. Can you please advise me on the settings I need to adjust to resolve this issue with the Sony FX30 camera? Thanks in advance

    I’m looking at the image quality settings on my fx30 and I’m only seeing jpeg, fine and 26m. I am not seeing a RAW option. AI claims that the fx30 does not have a way to record still images or video internally in RAW format, only when connected to an external recorder via HDMI. Can you explain if the settings changed in the last 2 years?

      Hey James, you can't have both on at the same time if you have the camera info displayed on the external monitor. If you turn off display info in the hdmi settings both screens should be on, but only the camera settings will appear on the fx30 screen and the monitor is a clean looking output.

I watched it once when I ordered the FX30 and now that I got it I have watched about the first 40 minutes and will take a break and come back tomorrow. One thing that I don't know if I missed or not, was the W/T toggle, does it do clear image zoom by default or do I have to set it up? @Jason_Hermann  11 месяцев назад

    Question, when you add a tripod plate it looks like it covers the fan inlet vent, is that correct?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Год назад +1

      Yes, the plate I used was huge and it slightly blocked the fan inlet, but not completely... That tripod plat is larger than normal though and I should have used a different one. Either way the vent still had some breathing room and it caused no issues...

      This FX30 is optimized for video and has a built in cooling fan for longer form recording in warm environments. It can take photos, but I would not recommend this camera for photography. The A6400 geni.us/L75omA is a great option, or the A7 IV geni.us/ZlYsk is what I have and is full frame... The A7C geni.us/N6UyGd would be a more affordable option similar to the A6400, but a full frame version...

    My FX30 has a SELP 18200 power zoom lens. When zooming in, it stops at frequent intervals, requiring the zoom lever to be pulled again to continue the zoom. When zooming out, holding the lever allows for a nice constant zoom from 200mm all the way out to 18mm. Do you know how to tell it to do that when zooming in, so that I could hold the lever and go from 18mm to 200 mm without it automatically stopping at intervals? Thanks!

    • @Jason_Hermann

    Your tripod plate is covering the cooling vent. Does that not cause a problem?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  2 месяца назад

      No it still has room for the air to flow, but of course ideally you would not want to cover the vent with long for recording...

    This was an awesome video. I noticed one thing about the camera Your battery started at 85% and dropped to 32 % in the span of the video. How's the battery duration on the camera in Video?

      Keep in mind I was working with the camera a lot longer than the actual video was due to the magic of editing ;) Standard Battery Life: With the default settings, the Sony FX30's battery life for movie shooting can last approximately 115 minutes for actual recording and 175 minutes for continuous recording, according to CIPA standards. This is with the battery fully charged and using a Sony CFexpress Type A memory card

    Hi Jason, I'm looking for the optimal settings on the Sony FX30 to eliminate motion blur when shooting moving cars on the street.
    Despite these efforts, I haven't eliminated motion blur or the slight shaking of objects. It's as if the letters aren't entirely clear when I'm shooting. Can you please advise me on the settings I need to adjust to resolve this issue with the Sony FX30 camera? Thanks in advance

      To illuminate motion blur you will need to increase the shutter speed. I don't see any way around that fact. I agree about the rule, but that also depends on what you are doing. Filming high speed moving subjects is much harder than slow or non moving subjects as we know...

      @@Jason_Hermann Hi Jason thanks for the reply, do you have any recommendations for such occasions, say while you shoot sports events and shoot city traffic? do you suggest any parameters?

    Thanks for this usefull Guide, really well explained. I have a question though, I see your frame rate goes from 24p to 120p and you also have 30 and 60... on mine, I only have 25, 50 and 100p, do you have a specific setting ?

      You r camera is set to PAL mode, mince is set to NTSC, because I line in North America... The camera ship that way depending on where you live... You can change it here: MENU → (Setup) → [Area/Date] → [NTSC/PAL Selector] → [Enter] helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2220/v1/en/contents/TP1000845206.html?search=pal

    Hey @Jason, love your work, you are my go to, for every new camera.
    I have the fx30, and I was wondering why my camera shows Frame Rate with: 59.94p / 29.97p / 23.98p / 119.88p instead of 60 /30 / 24 and 120 ?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  9 месяцев назад

      That is normal and yes a bit odd I agree... You can look into frame rates for a few hours if you really want to know all the weirdness that goes into it... I honestly do not recall off the top of my head why, but I have looked it up in the past out of curiosity and at the ned of the day it has no noticeable effect on anything I do...
