Absolute beginner here. Was so disappointed in my iPhone & its focus - or lack of it, after visiting Costa Rica, I thought I’d need a proper camera for our next holiday. After watching several different utube videos on the Sony A74, it left me more confused & stressed out than ever! Had I bitten off more than I could chew? Well, yes! … until I just came across this beaut of a tutorial! Michael, you’ve saved me weeks, probably months of cross referencing different clips from different utubers & head scratching! You explain everything so clearly & in a way I can understand. You take your time & don’t rush. This is amazing! I honestly can’t thank you enough for taking the time to show me how my new camera works. You’d make a great school teacher! 👏👏👏👏👏 👍
Brilliant video. You are a gifted teacher and I must say, I learned a heck of a lot despite 40 years in photography. This camera is complex for us old geezers used to a Nikon F.
I do not own this model of camera, but watch this entire video as a 'review' of it's functions. The quality of your videos is amazing and the effort you put into these is appreciated.
Stumbled upon this video by accident. Thank you so much for making this! I'm an experienced photographer used to the Canon ecosystem, and recently moved to a a7-4. This video is really helpful!
This is the best video for the A74 hands down. I really appreciate you for taking the time and made such a detail video you make it so easy to understand basically everything about this camera.
Will receive my A7iv and 85mm 1.4 in 3 days. I own a sony rx100 vii and video corespons with like 80%. I will be ordering the crash course. I love the way you take your time and teach. Other videos just rush though the information so fast that I can barely keep up let alone learn anything. So thank. Can't wait to get started with the Crash Course.
Thank you. I just upgraded my camera from Canon T4i to Sony A7iv and was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the complexity of this new system. This video has been super helpful to get me started. I so appreciate how you presented this material and am going to purchase your crash course.
Great instructor, i am a beginner, A7 iv is my 1st camera and they pace you teach is great, after finishing this 3 hour course i will buy the crash course, i know it is definately worth it.
I recently bought an a7IV and this is extremely helpful to me, my first digital full frame camera and so much to learn from the menu, thank you so much for your efforts.
Michael, Great overview of the Sony A7 IV. I’ve been doing photography since the early 1960’s and often teach classes on the subject in my community. I watched your entire video and learned a lot of details I had not fully understood in the past - even with all my experience. Great job. It allowed me to set up my custom components thoroughly and easily.
Michael, MAJOR MEGA KUDOS. Simply the best tutorial available on this Sony Masterpiece. Your obvious dedication to providing serious, detailed information about your chosen field has earned you a life-long subscriber and fan. I've been a lover of photography since I bought Pentax K 1000 about fifty years ago and the love just keeps growing. Just can't thank you enough.
Great Video, really explains things in proper perspective. Am about to buy A7IV after my A7III got stolen last week from my home ( forced entry) along with Sony 16-35mm f4, Tamron 70-300mm, Canon 50mm F1.4 to name a few.
Thank you for this video! For someone who's transitioning from a Canon 650D (stopped and moved to iPhones until now), this is very helpful as there's been so much added features. I've watched through everything and I now know my A7IV so much better. Here's a like and subscribe!
I am working my way through the Fuji X-T4 Tutorial and don't know what I'd do without it. I am far from a professional and it's been 20 years since I purchased a camera, so I needed this help. In the video you mention working on a "crash course" for the X-T4. Please, please finish the course and release it. I need all the help I can get! thanks.
Thanks Michael for your video. This has been very helpful since I just received the Sony A7 IV this week. I have been a lifelong Nikon user (selling all my gear now). I was comfortable with the Nikon D500 & 200-500mm lens for wildlife. Great camera, but I wanted to do more with video and the D500 was not great for video (especially auto focus). The Sony A7 IV seems to be a perfect hybrid. This is certainly going to be a transition, but very impressed thus far. I purchased a kit lens for now (28-60mm) along with the 200-600mm lens. Again, thanks for your time and effort in making this video. Great job.
@@michaelandrew5209 Thanks for asking. I am obviously becoming more and more familar with the Sony now. Awesome pictures along with the fast autofocus is just incredible. And my next challenge is video. I have not spent much time in that arena yet. I would love to have had this camera/lens setup when I was shooting at dance recitals from the balcony of my daughters years ago. I was reading somewhere that lens filters may distort photos with some Sony lens. Not sure if true or not. Do you shoot with or without filters? Thanks again Michael
Hi Michael! Thank you so much for doing this amazing video, more than 3 hours. I've watched the whole video. You are so professional RUclipser/Photographer/Videographer/Lecturer. I'm very grateful of your works.
What an incredible tutorial Mike, thank you! I've had my A7iv for over a year and learned that I still had a lot to learn :D. Did not realize you had these, I discovered you through your amazing filter set, I am a fan! A fan that missed out on the Kickstarter for your 2nd Filter series, lol. Thanks for all your hard work, truly appreciated.
@@MMaven YW! Sounds like you are up in the Northern tier. My wife is from Montana and we spent 7 years in N. Dakota (oil patch). Have moved back to Texas, but truly miss the wide open spaces of that region... have traversed Wyoming many times... and it's treacherous highways lol. Outstanding job on your entrepreneurial efforts Mike, excited to contribute to your future successes!.
Thank you so much for this video, I've never gotten into photography before but because of friends and family I'm starting down this road and I feel the 8 hours or so I've watched this video (several sections I've reviewed again and again) have given me a wonderful introduction on my new camera. I'm also purchasing your "Crash Course" as I literally have never done something like this before and if this tutorial is THIS helpful, I can only imagine where this is all going.
Thank you Mike! I appreciate your kind words. The Crash Course is designed specifically for someone like your self just starting. If it isn’t the greatest $50 you ever invest into your own education, I’ll refund your money so there’s no risk. It will save you a lot of time. Best wishes
Thank you for breakin' this down for me and addin' the table of contents in descriptions!!! I RUclips for a full time job, use to be a full time professional eater like Man Vs Food now I do a lil of that but been vloggin' for 3 years as well as food reviews. I am new to the "real camera" world lol. I shot with a GoPro and a Cell Phone and decided to step it up to the next level but I am soooo lost with all of this new stuff. Appreciate your video, I saved it for my go-to to figure it out and subbed. I did not see the link for the charger though
Great review. Just want to share a feature that I haven't seen shared on youtube. If the touch featire is turned on while you are on the black screen you can double tap on any of the icons to make adjustments. Some may find this useful. Thanks for all the work you do on these videos. I have purchased two of your instructional videos in the past and found them very helpful.
Amazingly helpful video. I have just switched system to Sony and although I am an experienced hobbyist, this video has helped me get to grips with my A7 IV quickly and easily. Thank you!!
Awesome video Michael really appreciate the work you have put into this. You mention about doing a new video on the Smartphone connection but I don't seem to be able to find it. I will be signing up for your crash course when I get back from holiday.
As a long time Canon user I was feeling some FOMO seeing all these people with Sonys, but I wasn't about to swap over all my glass. I must say, after seeing this menu structure and control placement, Canon really knows how to design a UI.
I buy camara sony a7 iv. So I search what is the best video in you tube . So I see this video.wooow I like vary much this explain to all than you vary much
Michael...great tutorial as usual! I have the Sony A7siii for video and low light and astro but think the A7iv would complement the A7siii well! Thank you...Aloha from Maui!
11/18/2024 Very well done, Michael! Thank you for doing all the work required to create such an excellent course. I’m Avery senior citizen who is just getting back into the best hobby in the world. I am considering the complete course you reference in this program. You mention somehow qualifying for a 30% off special pricing, which will make this possible immediately for me. How do I qualify for Tharp special offer. Thank you! Keep up the excellent work…I love all of it, especially your strong, crystal clear voice. It is really like no other. Best wishes, Will
I really need this knowledge, thx dude .. in my opinion you should to make this video in a view part. Hi Micheal, Have u write any articles or make any videos about how to store cameras and lens? Should I store my camera without lens attached or is it ok to attached my heavy Sony 100-400mm lens attached to the camera? How to orientate the cameras and lens when they are not in use?
Michael. Great video and info. I bought your crash course. Quick question on the Sony A7 iv is there any difference between lossless compression and uncompressed in the files as far as quality? Even in higher ISOs?
Thank you so much for these videos. Have you experienced the issue with the A7iv Eye AF front/back focusing? I’m hearing a firmware update coming to resolve.
