I have been an amateur photographer for 45 years and I have to tell you that this is the BEST instructional video I have ever seen. After watching this video I watched several other of his videos and they are equally informative. Michael's way of explaining things is simple but extremely useful. I am about to order his Canon 90D crash course from his website because as an educator myself, I just love his teaching style. EXCELLENT videos Michael, THANK YOU!!!!
You are a blessing. I've watched an embarrassing amount of reviews and tutorials about specifically the canon 90d. There is not one In my option better then this one. If it wasn't for you I would be completely lost in how to work this camera. Every other review just explain the features and say 9h hey this does this and I love it. You actually taught it like a teacher and explained it the way everyone should learn and nobody teaches. You are the freaking man. Thank you so much. Now my questions are advancing cause I'm learning in the correct t order.
Hi Micheal, I am a 75 year old and I took up photography less than a year ago your tutorial has inspired and enthused me to learn and enjoy photography. Regards Colin here in the UK.
I was heavily into film photography in the late 90's - early 2000's, I just purchased the Cannon 90D and I have decided to treat it like I know nothing about photography as I think Digital photography is going to be a bit different. I am using your video to become a bit more acquainted to my camera. Thanks for all your hard work, it is appreciated.
Michael The Maven, You created this tutorial 14 mos. ago but I hope you're still reading comments occasionally because I want to tell you what an excellent job you did and Thank you so-o-o-o much for it; My wife and I each got a 90D for Christmas - we've looked at quite a few videos but this one of yours is straight forward, to the point, smartly done, uber informative... Can't say enough. Thank you again and God Bless.
Michael your presentations are simply the best ., just purchased my 90D and this tutorial has really helped me. In my mid 70's and with short term memory problems, I've been able to pause and rewind and listened again, So from across the pond thank you!
I just upgraded from a Canon T6 to a Canon 80D. What a tank of a camera. I have watched many videos over the past few years to learn all I can. Tony and Chelsea are two of my favorite. I was searching 80D videos and yours came up. I can't say enough about how wonderful this in depth video is. I hate to say this but you even have outdone Tony on this one. The detail, focus, and thoroughness within this video is by far the best I've ever seen, GREAT job! I was overwhelmed at first by my 80D and all the options, you made me fell like I owned the camera for months now, when I've only had it for 2 days. I don't think I could have even began to maneuver around the 80D this quickly without your instruction. PLEASE keep producing great instructional videos with the same quality of information. THANK YOU!!
I have only purchased a 90D (April 2022) and I love it. But I must say, you are the only educator (amidst dozens) who has helped me make sense of the less than intuitive focussing system. Many thanks Michael 👍👍
I tried to watch this video when I first bought this camera (my first camera) and just couldn't stay focused because I had no idea why I would ever want to go into all of these settings. Now, 6 months into photography I came back to this video to learn my camera as much as possible. Now I know how to take this information and apply it to my needs. Thank you so much for putting the effort into this video!
I thoroughly enjoyed your training tutorial! I watched the entire presentation without a break because of the unique talent you have for teaching. You are so professional and easy to follow. I bought my Canon 90D last week and your tutorial put me months and perhaps years ahead of what it would have taken me to learn on my own. I totally agree with all the positive reviews posted on this review. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and for giving such quality and free instruction.
@@MMaven Sir, I bought your crash course and it's PHENOMENAL!!!! It's packed with excellent training. Small cost for all the info contained. There may have been a change in software. At 33 minutes in, the Exposure Simulation feature is mentioned. To see this feature you need to be in Program mode and be in live view or you will never be able to access the feature. All and all, thank you for an excellent intro to the camera!
Michael, thank you for the in depth tutorial on the 90D. I've been using my 80D for years and am now awaiting delivery of my 90D from B&H. You're a fantastic instructor! Aloha!
What a great service. I just upgraded from the 70D to the 90D and, while many features were familiar to me, your very thorough walk threw of the features was great... and a good refresher on a few things I had forgotten. Thanks!
Easily the most valuable resource on the internet for the Canon 90D. I have referred back to this video and the table of contents many times. Today, I am looking at all of the buttons a little bit closer. Thank you so much for all your time and effort.
I watched this video maybe 4 times in 3 months, really thank you very much you are the best teacher in my photography journey, i appreciate you spectacular efforts to make our life easier with 90d and photography, so much respect.
Wow, this is great Michael! I'm getting really serious and upgrading from an old T2i to the 90D which will be here tomorrow. I will photograph anything that's interesting to me but my priority is wildlife. I'm retired and after watching this intro I am really excited and a bit overwhelmed at what can be done with the camera. I mostly have pretty basic Canon lenses but have recently added the Tamron 90mm 2.8 Macro and the 150-600mm, 5-6.3 G2. I plan on upgrading more lenses a little at a time. I see the Optical Focusing video is available so I will be working with that as well. Thanks for the assistance, it will be a great help to me in the future.
Wow this is so helpful. I just bought the Canon 90D, even though I am not new to Photography but this is so informative. Thank you, I just learnt a lot
Hi, I just bought my 90D, I am a professional photographer since 2006 and my previous camera was a 60D, so in many ways I did upgraded a lot my game. And I am watching this video and learning new ways of playing with the cam. I had a doubt but it's already solved in the comments below. So far, a really good and complete tutorial. Thanks a lot!
Just got my 90d in the mail yesterday sir, and cant wait to start learning it and hopefully one day take pics worthy to look at. Your video is SUPER helpful in learning my camera! Thanks for the video!
I've been using SLRs since the early 80s and my 90D is my 4th Canon DSLR. After 10 years of no serious photography, the 90D is a huge jump in complexity from the 7D I bought in 2010. I've only watched 24 minutes and my brain needs time to process what I've already seen. I've seen many other videos where the presenter wastes a lot of time with irrelevant nonsense. You do not! You can not only teach about the 90D, you could be a teacher on how to make a proper instructional video. I will be back to continue this video and I'll probably watch it again once I've completed it. No Netflix for me for a few days. I'm just going to watch your instructional videos.
It doesn't matter which camera video I am watching. After 2-3 videos I always end up on one of Michael's videos automatically. I can't imagine the ad revenue this channel is generating. Great job though. You probably make the best camera tutorials for beginners.
I just opened this Christmas present. I owe a Canon Rebel 3T, a few generations behind, but I loved it. You have made it to where I'm not intimidated and the step by step instructions are clear and concise. Thank you so much. I have subscribed and looking forward to all your videos on the Canon 90D.
Just upgraded from the 70D which was a great camera, but there is so much more to learn with the 90D, this video is superb, you explain everything so clearly, I will be watching it many times, thank you so much!
I am a professional DoP i buy this camera for my son mainly for photography but I have to say I am impressed also with video quality. Your video is very good to explain all the camera functions. Thanks
Michael, I'm doing this awesome tutorial in stages, and I can't overstate how useful it is. This is the first camera I've owned with MF Peaking and I didn't even know what it was called until now! You're a star.
i just received my 90d camera yesterday and i went strait away to this video as soon as i opened my package. Thanks a lot for the very detailed tutorial.
I am new to the 90D. I just upgraded from the 70D. There are a lot of similarities between the two cameras and a number of changes. So thank you for working through the 90D features to help us acclimate easier. The first thing I noticed is that the mode on the 70D to turn off the flash and allow the camera to choose the settings, [lightning bolt with a line through it] a feature I used when shooting in low light situations and either didn't want the flash to fire or flash was prohibited is gone on the 90D. I look forward to seeing if there is a way to achieve that on the 90D. Thanks again Michael for all the time and effort that you put into this tutorial!!
Thank you so very much. Fantastic material. I am definitely interested in the crash course. I'm just getting going on my 90D. Love it as I feel this will be just what I need and grow into. I am nothing more then a amateur and listening to yourself as a professional is just dynamic. Again thank you for such a well informative 2 hours
I thought my camera was defective, I just didn't know how to use the focus menus and the Q button, your review is great!! thank you so much!! one of the best tutorials in youtube!! I'm glad I came across your channel. Just subscribed.
Wow! I'm not even done watching and you are blowing my mind. So clear and helpful. Information about exposure compensation and why it 'disappears' in manual was awesome
Great tutorial, I've been working in photography 40 years now, just updated my Canons; 60D to the 90D. Definitely enjoying this lesson. One comment I could make, concerns the shutter speed 1/60 that you suggest to not go below, when explaining the aperture priority mode. That rule applies for the normal focal length lens. You can get away with handholding the camera by matching the shutter speed to focal length. I can handhold a 20mm lens down to a shutter speed of 1/16 - 1/25. But a 200mm lens, I wouldn't try to handhold below 1/200. Tripod and it's moot, and then there's flash. Speaking of flash, I'm looking forward to see how tough Canon is gonna make this to use with my studio flashes. Hopefully I won't regret not buying a higher level Canon. 🤣😅😆
Great video Michael. So informative. I've just upgraded from the Canon 700D, which I was just getting the hang of, but knew I needed better info/training to now use the Canon 90D. And this is where I found it. I'll be checking out of your vids on the 90D. Thank you so much.
BRAVO! I downloaded the Canon menu for my 90D and began to ......lose my Marbles, just as you did in the beginning! lol I chose this camera to hopefully be the last camera I ever buy, DSLR vs. Mirrorless because they are painfully compact and those postage-stamp batteries are said to run out so quickly. I'm a big guy anyway and love the larger, easier to grasp(Literally!) gear. An A-10 Warthog vs. a Cessna Citation pretty much! You are my New Canon Coach!! I'll still keep the manual online though! :) WJ in NJ, USA!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just purchased the Canon 90D a view weeks ago and this video helped me alot to understand all it's features. Because this video was so helpful and well done, I purchased your 900D crash course and I'm looking forward to learn even more.
All the settings/controls of 90D is very similar to my old 70D. Guess i can skip the manual by watching your video. Nice tutorial. Wow! we can do continuous shooting in self timer mode without using cable remote.
I just picked one up. Thanks for the great videos! I had a Canon Rebel T6 for at least six years so this is a huge step in learning for me taking my photography and videos to another level. Thank you!
Hello Michael! Hope you are doing well. I want to say thank you very much for sharing this amazing tutorial that has been very helpful, not just for me but for a lot of people. I got my first camera Canon 90D last Friday and just now finished watching your tutorial. I have learned a lot thanks to you! Have a wonderful day cheers 😎
Thank you so much for the time and effort you've put into this tutorial. I've been shooting for 35+ years and each new camera has it's own quirks and settings that either make or break the shooting experience. I've had my 90D for about a week and bought it with the 18-135 kit lens. Not 100% happy with the lens sharpness at long focal lengths but will use your recommended settings to get the best possible results on this camera.
Deb, I am going to buy a 90D and was considering buying the 18-135mm lens as well. Which exact (brand & model #) did you get and how do you like it now that you’ve had it for 9 months? Would you have bought a different lens instead? Thx!
Thanks, this is an excellent video. Clearly, this camera is by no means straight forward to use. You are to be congratulated for taking a measured and easy pace approach.
I've watched this from start to finish. Very useful info and I'm guilty of using my old T5i in the "dummy mode." Now that I've upgraded to the 90D I want to really utilize my camera and learn all its features. Thx for this video!
Thank you for the comprehensive, tutorial. I appreciate your down-to-earth approach; You are a good teacher, Michael. Just downloaded the 90D Crash course.
It's time to refresh lens recommendations to modern ef-s lenses: 55-250 STM have much better optics than older, 50/1.8 STM have much better focusing system and upgraded diafragm than older one II version.
Hey Michael. Great video. I look forward to watching many more of your videos. I noticed the Access Lamp wasn't mentioned. I couldn't find it on any other sites either. I finally found it in my book (go figure lol) and I think it's an important feature, as you're not supposed to open the card slot, remove your card, remove the battery, shake/strike the camera or remove the power cord when this light is blinking. Doing any of these things can damage the image data, card, or camera. I researched it because mine was blinking and it was driving me crazy.
I am considering buying this camera and this video certainly helps me to put this camera on my wish list. Very clear video and a good help to learn how to work with the 90D. Thanks
thanks, for a really great video tutorial. I really appreciate the in-depth professional touch. Some reviews I have watched make you sit through 10-15 minutes of just watching some dude open the box. I have learned some new things I had no idea about with my 90D. Of course I am going to buy some stuff from your site now!
@@MMaven Its my pleasure. I want to get the bracked exposure, time laps, and photostacking down to a real art & science - literally, and am looking forward to getting your 90D Crash course first, latter this week end.
Very informative video Micheal. Just bought the Crash Course. I'm back into photography since I was a kid and had a Canon A-1. Can't believe what cameras can do these days. I remember having to plan a shoot so I bought the correct ISO film for the day!
Finally after much saving and looking I bought a 90d. I've been using Canon for years. Thanks for this video. You're amazing at explaining. I was convinced to buy a uv lens and I know it's not going to change things but bought for protecting the front glass of the lens. Maybe a good move?
Like others, I'm upgrading to the 90D. Excellent tutorial! Clear and specific to each feature. I'm sure I'll be checking out your other videos as soon as my new camera arrives. Thanks for making these videos.
I use my 90D with the Canon 10-22mm for real estate photography. A rather boring job for this wonderful camera. (but it doesn't complain 😀). I only wish I'd picked this beauty up three years ago. And, thank you for such an in depth walkthrough!
Very nice video. I am having 80D at present and this 90D is alluring me now, especially the joystick and 4k capability. I hope my decision will not be wrong if I switch to 90D
Still the best 90D video nearing the end of 2024. Thank so much!!

Thank you so much for posting this instructional video!!!! I keep returning to the video as learning my camera! You are a great teacher!
Had this for six months and it has helped me loads , thank you
Thank you so much for the time and effort you've put into this tutorial.
How is sharpness now of your camera
Deb, I am going to buy a 90D and was considering buying the 18-135mm lens as well. Which exact (brand & model #) did you get and how do you like it now that you’ve had it for 9 months? Would you have bought a different lens instead? Thx!
Deb Bricault: Are you using the 18-135 STM lens? This is a year later, are you still having issues with the 90d? thanks
Thank you! Great quality instead of all these quick 10 tip video's from other RUclipsrs
Mate that was brilliant, my 90D is in the post, should be here tomorrow, can't wait to get started with it.
Thank you for your support Grotto!
Michael, your presentations are simply the best. Thank you so much. I really look forward to the VIDEO side of your course.
We are nearly finished!
@@MMaven I too am interested in a tutorial that focusses on shooting video with the 90D
@@FiloFilmsTV its here: www.canontrainingvideo.com/downloads-c-7_12/canon-90d-crash-course-training-tutorial-p-149.html
Man! I don't know why this video is view more than 1M. This is great content.
I researched it because mine was blinking and it was driving me crazy.
you are the best of this canon 90 I love you videos you are so specific and excellent I am glad to be part of your channel
I am considering buying this camera and this video certainly helps me to put this camera on my wish list. Very clear video and a good help to learn how to work with the 90D. Thanks
I am so excited about this camera! Just ordered it today! Can't wait til it comes in.
Excellent tutorial on the 90D. I also know more about vertical blinds than I used to......
What an EXCELLENT tutorial!!! Thank you, Michael!
thank you very much for this tutorial, Michael! more power to you!
Best tutorial ever, explained so much. Am thinking of getting the crash course
Thank you Patricia
Patricia Goodger well how did you find it🤔 plz share. Thanks in advance.
thanks, for a really great video tutorial. I really appreciate the in-depth professional touch. Some reviews I have watched make you sit through 10-15 minutes of just watching some dude open the box. I have learned some new things I had no idea about with my 90D. Of course I am going to buy some stuff from your site now!
Thank you for your support David
@@MMaven Its my pleasure. I want to get the bracked exposure, time laps, and photostacking down to a real art & science - literally, and am looking forward to getting your 90D Crash course first, latter this week end.
Very informative video Micheal. Just bought the Crash Course. I'm back into photography since I was a kid and had a Canon A-1. Can't believe what cameras can do these days. I remember having to plan a shoot so I bought the correct ISO film for the day!
Thank you for your support Colin
Thank you so much. Very very helpful. I love that you go slowly enough that I can keep up with you.
thank you for this video. Between RUclips and FB you have been a great help. A great community of people too.
So happy to have found this training tutorial, it is just amazing!!!! thank you
I use my 90D with the Canon 10-22mm for real estate photography.
Thank you for this very helpful & informative tutorial. It has really helped me to learn all of the different settings on the 90D. Thank you!
Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You, This was the most helpful video I've found - paid or free it's simply the BEST!!!! - I feel I owe you.
I am so happy this tutorial exists - Thank you so much for all the detailed information!
