David gainey: I agree but we have to make them. By calling our senator and congressman.
What we need to do is send the FMCSA to do a drug and alcohol test ASAP.
I would you suggest we focus on the nonsense these freaking brokers are doing to the owner operators. All the goods that we are transporting to the various states have double in price and the cost of fuel is still high, repairs and maintenance cost have gone up. No one is saying anything about it and these brokers continue to screw us.
Everyone is hurting.
Shippers, carriers, and brokers.
The same way how a carrier will accept load for less to get it, shippers take the cheapest broker rate they quote with.
To blame it all on brokers in general is poor logic.
that some real shit
immediately sir
Boon: we need to focus on what the fmcsa is trying to do with eld not turn to something else.
The hard fact is, elogs have not done one DAMN thing to prevent accidents. In fact accidents have went UP since elogs were mandated even though they were supposed to lower the number of accidents. So the FMCSA's position is "Elogs aren't working, we need more elogs." That is EXACTLY what you would expect from government sticking it's nose and it's ass into something it knows absolutely nothing about. The only way to stop this harassment is a nationwide shut down but there are too many cheese eaters out there for it to work. Years ago I had a leaflet on my windshield that was asking us to boycott certain states. Make your deliveries and pick-ups but do not buy anything in that state. No fuel, food, no tires or parts unless it was necessary like if you had a blowout. If you did have to buy fuel get just enough to get out of the state. And that was a genius idea but the one thing it takes for it to work is participation. At the time it was boycotting Cali and Illinois. I went along with it but there's just not enough people doing it to do any good. Imagine truck stops losing 80% of their fuel sales. I understand you pay to drive through the state if you don't buy fuel but I'm talking about the profit the merchants of the state make and the sales tax from everything you buy. It would work if enough people started doing it. The proof was in Jackson, Mississippi. The Petro there put up toll booths when they got the bright side of charging us to park there. There were some PISSED off drivers. I was one of them. About a month later I came back, went through the booth got my ticket made a U turn and scanned it right back out. I wanted them to see the times and that I bought nothing. It went on for a couple of months and I went back and they said the toll booths didn't work. Lol. Right. I got fuel again and left. A couple of weeks later I went back and the toll booths were gone. I asked what they took them out and they said they couldn't get them to work right. 🐴💩. They took the mf'er's out because they pissed off a buncha drivers and they stopped coming in there and their sales hit the hard rock bottom. There's your proof that it works. Also the Ohio turnpike. The speed limit was 55 for trucks and a very high toll to go across. So, many drivers started taking the 2 lane roads. The speed limit was the same and it was free. Their toll money dropped off the charts and what did they do? They raised the speed limit to 65 and lowered the toll. PROOF that participation in a boycott works. And these weren't planned boycott's. It was just a bunch of pissed off drivers that didn't know each other that had the same idea.
You say accidents have gone up (true)...but I think you fail to realize that the amount of drivers on the road has gone up more...the miles traveled accident rate has significantly been reduced over the years...proving that ELDs actually work (along with lane departure systems, collision mitigation systems, and adaptive cruise).
Yes but correlation does not equal causation. Just because accident rates are going down does not mean elds are responsible for that.
@@brandonhebert5485 I gave you MULTIPLE reasons and tools that have lowered accident rates...you can't point to a single thing bad about ELDs other than the fact that it makes it so you can't cheat on your logs. I'm pushing to get ELDs in ALL CMVs...including mechanical engines...the technology is there...all you need is a wheel speed sensor and GPS with internet connectivity...and if the wheel speed sensor is more than 7% off from thee GPS speed...that would be a violation.
@@EricPriceOfLouisville what you're pushing for is empty shelves because our checks have been cut in half due to ELD. And raising driver pay will be passed on to the retail customer who'll then howl about the prices be careful what you wish for. Oh and by the way driverless trucks are easy targets for retaliation.

Systematic destruction of owner-ops is what we are witnessing. It's never enough for these people!
Yup and small companies are fading away as time goes.
The goal -- look at what Gov Abbot of the Peoples Republic of CA is asking for --is elimination of owner ops, so that you have to work for a company and belong to a union! Socialism! Abbot wants to forbid OO’s from picking up containers at docks. Isn’t it nearly all OO’s that do get containers? I don’t think many company drivers get containers from docks.
He is trying to destroy independent trucking so eventually the government can take over. Socialism!
He also suggested making it illegal in CA to drive a truck MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD!
Don’t stand for this!
Small businesses lol. You mean self employed
I'm not even a owner operator but I know business. This has lobbyists written all over it.
Eliminate the 70-hour limit and ELDs wouldn't be a problem. Driver's would no longer have to race the clock trying to save or gain minutes. ELDs could then be used for what they were supposed to be for, a time-clock.
The 70 hour limit is an HOS reg. The ELD only shows time and records data...it's a computer.
Facts I hate running 8hrs a day at 65mph. I don't get anywhere but loose a minute or 2 of time.
Eliminate Mileage or percentage pay
And pay drivers for all time
@@blk_killzoneops Bull crap, if you only lose 1 or 2 minutes a day. Doesn't matter how fast your truck runs, you lose more than 1-2 min. a day, you lose more than that the first time you stop
@@Gary-ld6ht I guess that just went over your head. Yes, the ELD is a computer, it keeps tract of " every single minute ". With paper logs you have a 15- minute leeway with every duty change. You arrive somewhere on ELDs at 10:07, you arrive there at exactly that time. With paper logs you can log it at 10:00 even, you just saved 7 minutes.
Get rid of the ELD altogether
I say, get rid of elds and hos.
As long as I have to abide by HOS I want to keep my ELD. I don’t want to get rid of the ELD unless they get rid of HOS. Paper logs are tedious..

At some point, when are we gonna stick together. To the new drivers, nothing is wrong with old school trucking. They got the job done back then and it can still work now. Can't we all see that the fmcsa is slowly turning truck driving into a 9-5 industry? Why keep trucking to rules that eventually turns us into robots. They're trying to get rid of drivers too with this new technology, and we keep accepting bs. But when that day come of less demand of drivers, the drivers that are willing to comply to everything these people know nothing about, are gonna wish yall hadn't.
@Garry Atwal I truly agree, it's like we know what's poisonous for us but we're still taking it anyway, and then wondering why we're sick. We keep allowing it
Having the government dictate to us driver's is no difference than the Mofia dictate to businesses to comply or we will shut you down, look at Fitzgerald trucking and how many companies and lives has been ruined by these dictators. There goal is to slow walk all truckers to our Deaths, mark my words.
never
It’s time to stick together all the whole trucking nation needs to get together and stop moving and we need to ban all these dumb laws and better rates for o/o and pay for carriers. Rates should be as an example: set a minimum of $3.50 per mile anyone going lower than that is a violation. Tired of all these new truckers accepting the lowest rates.
I started trucking when they did both. In all honesty, paper logs should only apply to Owner Opp and the ELD system should be for company drivers.
Because I know plenty of guys who have been given forced dispatch loads, when they were out of hours, and dispatch said pick it up or your fired. They were fired, sued, and the courts side with the company.
I feel the ELDs are the reason for parking availability where drivers are forced to park wherever they can find a spot and is why the truckstops fill up so early and why drivers take their 30 minute break on fuel islands. Pre ELD trucks where on the road 24-7. After ELD trucks on road mostly during the day and at night the teams and the few truck that don’t run ELD. I also feel that the 14 hour rule causes drivers to drive more aggressively because they are more concerned about not being in violation of the HOS and less on safety. Pre ELD drivers gave each other more respect and courtesy. Example on CB radio ( hey driver come on out and get around that slower truck). Just my thought and opinions. Stay safe out there drivers.
Yup the truck I drive is pedal to the floor at a governed speed and it passes anything slower than it even if it's a quarter mile an hour slower. They want to regulate everything have fun sitting behind me for several miles while I make my pass.
@@eagle25311 you're not hurting anyone but the public, and causing a traffic hazard. I call in on drivers nearly every day because of dumb stuff like this. I even send their companies an email of the video. Taking 3 miles to pass a truck is not only illegal, it's dangerous.
you should hear the folks talking about how ELDs are saving lives because they were soooo many Outlaws just driving for 72 hours straight.
That's why we have ELDs.
Team has it right. We don't need ELDs to cause all the trouble they have. There was a great flow to trucking before ELDs. Personal responsibility is the only issue there is. Rules didn't need to be directed at us. It was the companies and brokers abusing things. If you drive to long and don't know how to lay down, the only one in those shoes is YOU. I know how to park and go to bed. Trips only to put in the system by mileage. Between 700, 800 per day is all you are permitted. Those need be the only rules, run them however you'd like.
@@Brett235 It's not a hazard, it's an inconvenience, you can thank the government for that.

It’s apparently US or them. I vote US!
Maybe it’s time to take a simultaneous vacation!
You'll never get that many drivers together to root for it, there are too many used to being controlled by the eld system.

Here's what needs to be looked at. Did Congress give this executive branch bureaucratic organization the ability to write laws for us or are they supposed to only enforce the rules on the books set by Congress.

Comment:
Changing the rules over and over again puts a burden on small trucking companies like us. The FMCSA came out with the ELD. We invested a lot of time and money to adapt to this rule and be in compliance with it while still being able to run safe and profitable. It would be nice if for once, the government could stop coming up with new regulations all the time, trying to fix a problem ( truck accidents), without going to its source. The ELD exemption is not what makes it dangerous out here. The problem is that we have more and more unqualified drivers out here, that are put under an ungodly amount of stress every day. Maybe the FMCSA should start looking at the source of the problem instead of trying to patch it up and punish those who have millions of accident free miles to show for. - stop giving in to the mega carriers demands about lower the minimum age and make it easier to obtain a CDL! - redesign the CDL test to where you can assure that only the highly trained and qualified people can pass - stop buying into the lie that there is a driver shortage. There is no driver shortage! There is a shortage of people that are willing to spend their lives out on the road for no money! And that’s why the mega carriers run out of drivers and push constantly for lowering the qualification standarts! Raise them and you would be amazed how the industry would change for the better and accidents would go down without new mandates! Today, the unqualified, not enough trained, stressed out driver in these trucks is the biggest danger. Change that!
You're right the standard is too low for CDL drivers I know people that and I mean they have something mentally wrong with them that are being given license to drive these trucks and went in a month or two to smashing things up and they don't follow the rules they can't do anything if they want to change something change the way the d MV gives out the licenses because it's ridiculous that just giving them out to anybody that gets in the truck and pushes on a gas pedal
I said the same unpopular sentiment. The ELD is not the problem. The quality of driver and the basic experience and common sense that is needed to be safe is very reasonable. The fact that government officials and the like think they can fix the issue of accidents by how they currently are approaching it is proof how out of touch they are. Invest in training and trade tech schools to provide too notch training. Virtual simulators and hours of actual behind the wheel training before someone can be left on their own to drive a truck. Look, accidents will happen. It’s the fatal accidents that EVERYONE wants to prevent. But, the Ivy League graduate who works for the government and the city and state official who probably has never driven over the road let alone a semi is dictating what you and I do for a living.
@@finalout99 I have a friend of mine that's a truck driver he's been driving for like about 9 10 years and he says the people that they're allowing through the DMV that are giving licenses is ridiculous and if they've investigated their insurance carriers thoroughly these places that are being given government grants they find out all the accidents tickets everything they got and wouldn't even be allowed to take them into train them which they don't train anyways they just go through the the bologna
@@johnnyvivenzio9982 I worked for the top CDL school in the greater Kansas City, KS area. I was an instructor for over 3.5 years there. The school does a good job and attracts carriers who have good training programs to make new drivers successful. I too saw students at the CDL school who had no reason to be in a truck. But, they passed the CDL exam. It’s not all on the schools and that’s what I get frustrated with. It’s the schools responsibility to train the student to pass the exam requirements. It’s the trucking companies responsibility to properly train, evaluate and then release the new driver to their truck solo. It’s all about profit and how much should you invest in a new driver before you either let them loose or you keep training them until they are ready to be let go solo. Then there is the background someone comes from. Black, white, ethnicity, privileged or poor. Then theirs common sense. I could go on and on. So you see it’s a lot of factors that come into play but I do believe that a good trucking company insists to a new driver that if they are not ready then they speak up and say something. But, a lot of people are in a “rush” to get out and make money. Why? For many reasons. That’s what gets them to make mistakes. Sometimes very serious mistakes.
@@finalout99 I agree 100% what you said but they need to investigate these places that are trained in the CDL truck drivers and they need the investigate the people that work for the DMV giving out the CDL licenses

It’s interesting that the FMCSA would bring this up during unprecedented times like this. They know, so like, why are they playing with this idea now?
FMCSA needs to step back at look at all the statistics,
1 out of 35 CMV Crashes that are actually a Driver's fault is ELD Exempt.
The other 34 are ELD Complaint and still screw everything up.
ELD's have done nothing but put a strain on 75% of the Drivers since 2012.
Companies have been pushing Drivers to run has hard as the can with threats of being fired if they don't, yet FMCSA still doesn't enforce anything to help Drivers out on that end.
Companies will fire Drivers over just about anything that goes against what the company wants done and then list it on their DAC report keeping those Drivers from going to a Good Company.
The Government either needs to step up & help protect the Drivers & their equipment & Pay or back off and let us run the way we need to without ELD's.
If a Driver violates HOS Rules then Suspend his License for 6 months, If a Company fires a Driver because the Driver won't break HOS Rules then that Company needs to be fined so much that the Driver won't be scared to report them, & make half of the Fine go to the Drivers as a Reward for Reporting this Companies.
ELD's have been around since the 90's. Thanks Werner for screwing things up.
There is no statistics to back up the 1 in 35, but just looking at highway accidents, it's always new trucks on ELD
Fmcsa thinks trucking is one size fits all. If they change the rules we will find a loophole
There's really no loophole that a lawyer can't find. Cameras are on every corner and your dashcam is a taddle tale also. I hauled bulls and bison for 5 years and we ran hard and didn't even do a log book half the time, but the dot are a lot smarter now and so are those lawyers. An accident causing serious injuries or death will cause the lawyers to go through your bank records, phone records, highway cameras, truckstop cameras and if they find on thing wrong or different than what you say you did then it's curtains for you.
3 years and 2 months I am going to retire from trucking. That will give me over 40 years behind the wheel of a truck. I have been hauling oversized loads for a lot of those years. No, because our fellow drivers driving these trucks in large are the one with 10 plus years experience, safe drivers, responsible drivers, maintaining their own equipment drivers, and ultimately the right kind of role models for the professional driver to become just that. The more the government regulates the owner operator off the road the more shitty drivers driving trucks like four wheelers with their faces in their phone's there will be causing the road to be more dangerous. Think about that. I'm a company man for cfi, in it 9 years now. When we had the exodus from Conway to xpo I saw it first hand within a week. Almost all of our best truckers just retired. Not all, but a lot of lifers(million milers). And the crazy thing is its like they took their values too.
When will parking issues be fixed? Why do we not all get together and acctually speak up.. these people have to much power and only want to bring this industry down. Once they need truckers, all these stupid laws go away during storms and emergencies. Enough is enough. We need more respect and real truckers to take a stand.
Never. I remember one year when some government bozo counted truck parking places in the US and said there were “enough” without realizing that empty parking places in Montana or Idaho or Kansas don’t do us any good when we have a 7AM delivery in NYC or Boston or Philadelphia or Miami or Newark.

Imagine a pissed off 4 wheeler driver goes past you after setting behind you for 10 miles and they start shooting at your radiator or tires but they aim too high? They screwed the trucking industry decades ago. Without a Union as strong as the Rail Road that would force members to park them, with the fact that the drivers and the companies won't stand together and park them, there is nothing we can do..
Nope. I just signed onto a company that runs only glider engines 60 series Detroit. It's not necessarily about elds it's more about avoiding emissions crap

When will cars have speed limiters for truck safety?
I think that is coming to Europe in another year or two.
Great info tomorrow I'm there saying no
We went threw this with the studio drivers as there is no possible way for a hollywood teamster to use an EDL device
I’m surprised weigh stations don’t have bluetooth that can automatically connect to every ELD driving by.
I was told by dot that's its coming to America soon
They basically do when I stop at a Florida check point officer had it on his tablet with out asking for it
Ssshhhh don't give them any ideas.

My ecm will not work with eld I have tried with a few and it will not clock drive time maybe one day we can all stand together and tell them enough is enough and swing some regs in our favor
Thats okay, I dont mind it.
They are trying to shut down the entire industry especially O/O s.

I only have one thing to say... To the government... "Stop Protecting me already... You're Friggin Killing Me"

There is no difference. They can fine you based on rules and it's a law that you have to pay fines.
Actually, go educate yourself. Government agencies can create enforceable regulations as long as Congress delegates the power to the agency.
Questions, what is the percentage of non eld trucks on the road & what is the percentage of non eld trucks in accidents or log violations?
That's not the point...it's about safety lol
how is it not point if non eld trucks aren’t involved in as many accidents in comparison to eld trucks
@@coryk1230 it's just a question, but if there is only 5 or 10 percent of the trucks on the road are non eld & wrecks & violations are 1%, they're just chasing their own tail, if that # was at 20% it might be an issue imo
I would bet my bottom dollar that exempt trucks are under reprented in crashes. Most all of them have experienced and professional drivers.
@@mctransportation9831 kinda my point, I have a 98 freightliner & about 1.5 million miles, thank you
im a local driver who stays in the 150 air mile limit. i haul milk for a living. i'm not on ELD, do they intend to allow that exemption to continue to exist? would there be an exemption for agriculture related goods?
if i had to use an ELD for my job i might just find something else. the milk plant now pays $20 per hour STARTING PAY, with pay that increases fairly quickly and with overtime after 40 hours. no drug testing either. the benefits are better. i only really make more right now because there are no limits on the hours i work, take that away there just might not be an incentive for me to continue to drive.
i can also sit at a milk plant for many hours in a day waiting to unload. i get detention pay and i can sleep. i get plenty of rest
Good luck on doing it with the truck in your thumbnail
I still say the problem will never be fixed. One way it can be fixed for us out here will never happen. If they want to see what it is like out here for us work the schedule they make us go by. Then they will see how working on a messed up sleeping pattern gets to us. But they go to work mon-fri 9-5 with evenings and weekends off and tell us we can't do that and pass laws for us to drive at all different times of day and night and expect us to function like they do. They have never been in a truck but want to tell us how to drive one. It is almost like people with no kids telling you how to raise your kid. It doesn't work. But as I stated...nothing will ever happen to change anything. Not in Washington DC. Not in ooida. Not anywhere.
Exactly. Not every problem has a solution. Just as some car drivers will drive drunk or high or sleepy, some truck drivers will drive tired. A million laws and controls won’t fix that. But it will move us closer and closer to a TOTALITARIAN STATE!
Mega carriers are pickle park Pete's donors,he will do what he is told to rid the transportation industry of owner operators
And since when does an appointed position have donors? or are you just that full of shit or bad at civics?
Good luck and say hello to your new eld
Noooooo.
I've done paper logs because ELD malfunction and driving two FLD during the exempt which was 99 and 00. I've been driving 12 years. Honestly no. Leave them trucks be. Paper logs can be a hassle if you don't know how to log correctly but it's definitely a blessing for the OG's and the ones that know how to drive legally. All ELD is doing is the job you would do on paper but monitored. Less pen scribble or redo a sheet..
Both have their own advantages and disadvantages
I prefer the eld to be honest. I run outlaw for twenty years and I said that I'd quit driving if they ever put that in my truck. 5 years later and I'm making more money, driving less and home more.
@@Brett235 there you go brother. You hit that nail.
They need to work on setting a standard rate for owner operator’s instead of letting brokers set the rates, and controlling fuel costs for independent owners. Mr. Butterged, I know you want to make a name for yourself, start talking to drivers instead of cops. No to ELD time clocks! , it’s ok if increased pay can be set as a standard .
NO! We need LESS GOVERNMENT CONTROL, not more! A minimum rate will become the MAXIMUM rate quickly!
Electronic real time tracking and original entries and edits always all saved on the evil side, can be used against Truckers at some point in time. They act like and give illusions like they care about truckers/Peoples opinions when they really don't and will do whatever the top tells them they are going to do. @@TaylorHaubrich Absolutely 100% evil and corrupt, and has been all along, just more obvious the past few years.
They need to completely regulate trucking again. Starting at 5 dollars a mile minimum rate per mile then eld in all vehicles. That way we can make a living without killing ourselves.
FMCSA needs to just be shut down and let the DOT do the job in every state without ELD. And go back to paper logs, since we really don't need the federal government big bothering truckers. We are professional truck drivers and know how to get from A to B for the last 40 years of my life American Truckers been getting the goods to stores and industries. How about there ask shippers and recievers to load and unload trucks promptly, not 10 hours later for a 30 minute job.
#30 anything to control drivers
Are drivers running paper involved in more or less accidents compared to drivers on running ELDs on a relative per mile driven basis? If drivers running paper logs are having more accidents, why not? I would imagine paper log drivers have much fewer accidents on a per mile driven basis though, so why would the fmcsa be trying to cause more accidents on the roadways?
By Government studies, accidents have gone up since ELDs we're put in. Which most drivers knew would happen, it was just common sense. ELDs are in " exact time " and paper logs are in 15-minute increments. With ELDs driver's have to race the clock trying to save or gain minutes.
Todd, do you have 2 eyeballs and the ability to process what your eyes see? It only requires a driver to look at the trucks strewn all over the interstate across the country and your brain will tell you... those are new trucks running ELD. You rarely see old or glider trucks in big wrecks.
@@TheRoadhammer379 my point exactly.

All other rules added are just too bureaucratic and confusing. Made to TICKET the truckers.

We should go on strike shut down all major highways and show them what a real strike really is.
Not enough will do it. Maybe there should be a date set for a nation wide shut down. Maybe Alex should help get the word out to stop the wheels. Everyone has to do it even the company drivers

Hell no
I am currently getting my cdl A I am not a fan of the tattle tail in the truck but there is good reasons why drivers don't like eld devices even to this day it feels like the fmcsa does truely have it figured out or does the industry. Trust you can tell when a driver is getting tight on time near the end of the day you see some pretty aggressive driving happening. Also areas where it use to be rare to see a truck parked at night well come about 10 you'll find hundreds of Trucks stacking up on the shoulder look for room.
This isn't due to the ELD mandate....this is due to twice as many trucks on the roads and parking isn't growing nearly as fast as the rate of trucks
They keep upgrading the equipment too. It like every couple of years a new system comes out. The hardware and monthly service is not cheap

FMCSA always here to help. Like all well meaning govt agencies.
The most terrifying words in the English language are “I’m from the government and I’m here to help” -Ronald Reagan.
I dont see the problem with ELD. Fact... no one can explain the difference between a paper log and an ELD without describing falsifying logs. Thier problem isn't with the ELD system thier problem is with with the HOS regs. And until they can understand that, they won't be taken seriously.
It doesn't matter if you record your time on paper or electronically... the regulations on how the time is to be recorded stays the same.
The real overreach is hos regulations, paper logs is merely a loophole to maintain the freedom that should already exist.
You realize guys are getting terminated from carriers for being even a minute over the ELD! Most large carriers forbid more than 15 minutes of personal CONVEYANCE. Most mega carriers forbid the driver from using the inclement weather/unforeseen incident provision. This is a big difference between the two forms of logging. And besides, why are you guys on the ELD so asshurt all the time by us guys using paper?? I mean seriously, it's all you slaves running ELD that are constantly crashing, driving like idiots through construction zones and just in a hurry all the time. Seriously though, why are you fuuucks so upset about guys using paper??

No we're not to greedy, there's just to many nationalities out here to get anything accomplished.
So correct if I'm wrong, if rebuild my 1997 N14 myself since I pretty much do all work to my truck it'll no longer be exempt after that?
I have pulled for two companies requiring me to run it had serious problems with both showing me in Mexico China Canada but even when working right is showing different towns than what I actually conduct business in. Had my truck in shop getting things done drove new model trucks they were showing different towns than business was conducted in so you go through inspection and your fuel load unloading doesn’t match nope not going to have that crap in my truck it is a pain in the butt. I am sure a lot of entry driver’s with automatic transmission love it they don’t know what experienced driver’s know about inspections and most would be lost on a log book but I will stick to paper
The way to stay away from that is keep trucking logs it’s a app for your phone just use that it’s all legal by DOT you can email your logs daily weekly to your dispatcher that’s what I would do
If you don’t want them messing with your truck
They are trying to eliminate anything where the driver can edit the drive line. We run keep trucking app but we can edit anything we want on it. Do I? Nope because I don't want to be out out of service.
Well looks like it's time for us old timers to give it up and take our ass off the road and let the new kids have it so they can listen to there master up in some office that has never drove or even been in a truck and they have no idea what the hell they are doing making up rules as they go along and when it benefits them

Alex!!! Thousands of drivers got a glider kit so they could (cheat). Just come out and say it. The only other reason would be to get around the emissions systems that are junk, especially the earlier models.
I don't think it's about cheating. I think it's about me knowing when I'm tired and when I have enough sleep.
There's no getting around the fact that you have guys running when they're dead tired, because that clock is ticking away, and stopping for a nap then getting back on the road is not an option.
The crash data is not working in the ELDs favor. Furthermore every time there's an emergency they pass a hos waiver which tells you that safety is not really the issue
Remember, the only dot acceptable retrofit was based in California and finally shut down because truck's we're burning.
