It was a pretty "bland" update indeed, I remember how it wasn't even talked about all that much back in the days it released compared to 1.9 when it was being teased and snapshots revealed. 1.10 was I believe one of the "rushed" updates that was just tossed in to add new stuff. Though I am surprised to hear talk of this rather "bland" update considering what happened with 1.19 that update also was rather directionless and a bit themeless as well, despite being called the "Wild Update" there wasn't much involving the wild or wilderness except the new Mangrove Swamp and frogs and the fireflies which got removed and the other features were literally supposed to be part of the Caves & Cliffs Update. I'd say 1.19 was a lot more of a failure as it got people over excited and then disappointed after release, and didn't bring that much fresh content making it more like an exaggerated polishing update, 1.10 was just more or less teased and released without getting the community overjoyed and still added some new content and mobs.

This one addition I think makes it better than 1.12.2.

First time seeing this guys vids, but I agree 1.10 was the lamest update yet, but, this guy seems super nit picky and super critical to the point that not much will make this guy happy about literally everything?
Disagree - it's just a critical video. In fact, the 1.20 section is a lot more optimistic than a large percentage of people are being about 1.20. I love most updates of this game, and I love the game in general - the reason I talk about its problems so much is because I love it. Totally understand where you're coming from though.
1.10 honestly felt like left over ideas they had for the past few updates and it felt like it was an update they wanted to get out quickly after the long time it took to do 1.9
I'm an archaeology student and honestly I'm dreading trails and tales. Minecraft is neither embracing the excitement of tomb raider style pop culture archaeology, nor showing respect towards the reality of archaeology. I feel like Minecraft already has fantastic archaeology elements without this update. The temples just need to be found in more biomes and have some randomness to them like dungeons do. The nether fossils are also great and I would like them to be more present in the overworld. But this brushing up sand to find blueprints for decorative items - not even decent loot itself - is so lame. Nobody digs up ancient remains with the goal of replicating it artistically- we do it to obtain knowledge or, if you are a tomb raider, to get treasure. It's so strange that they tried to be so careful with this and ended up being more misinformative because of it. If I dig in an archaeological deposit, I'm going to mostly find charcoal. But because Minecraft makes it seem so down to earth, people will think that pictures on pottery and gold and diamonds are the norm. At least when you have a tomb raider scenario you are establishing what most people nowadays can recognize as a fantasy. Now for the things I am not specifically qualified to say but will say nonetheless. When it comes to the cherry blossoms- eugh. I would personally much rather see an autumnal biome to bring diversity in leaf colours into the game, before we start with pink flowers. And then they made the wood pink, too! It feels patronisingly girl-coded, like they believe more women will play if they can make pink houses and boats. And at the same time since there are no unnatural wood colours outside purple and cyan, it's such an outsider and can't be used alongside the naturals in a practical way. It purely exists for someone who feels like making their entire build pink, and that just segregates it even more from most male players. Imagine if we had an ebony wood. Or something more blood red. Grey like the bark of the cherry or acacia. Or an almost white wood since birch is so yellow. But no. Baby pink.
This is a really fascinating perspective, thanks so much for commenting! I'll definitely talk at length about archaeology when I make a 1.20 review video, and I think that there are both really good elements and some things that are super inaccurate and annoying. It certainly had a lot of potential as a system, and only a small part of that potential has been delved into, it feels. Thanks again for commenting, your profession is really interesting!
@@MagmaMelon Personally I would prefer that archaeology, if added to the game, should be more ingrained in the overall system instead of an optional side quest for decor or a tedious way to get diamonds and gold. I would like to see each site contain a 'clue' that is similar to an ender pearl in that they lead you to a site the world only has one of. An ancient capital, perhaps, or a mega village, or a portal to yet another dimension. I won't even blame them if everything leads to Atlantis.
@@demo2823 The idea of one structure leading to another certainly has interesting gameplay potential. I'd be hesitant to have structures which only generate once per world, but this is definitely food for thought!
It annoys me that you automatically linked cherry wood to being feminine. Cherry blossom trees are a very real thing in nature, and their pinkness is a very real thing to them, even if for a very short time of the year. Just like how we have several naturally pink flowers in the game like tulips, peonies, petals, and (arguably), lilacs and alliums. New wood types are an exiting addition because they give us slabs, stairs, and fences to build with as well. And, aside from blocks dyed pink such as wool, terracotta, glass, etc, there aren’t really any pink blocks in the game, unless you count granite as pink. So, finally having a pink building material that isn’t originated from dyes is a very exiting addition for many of us. I don’t see why you have to bring gender into this. A lot of us have been wanting cherry trees in the game for years. Another thing. Minecraft wood is intentionally colored unrealistically to make it more versatile for building. The original mangrove wood color was too similar to jungle, so they made it a lot more red to make it better for building. If cherry wood was colored a lot more realistically, it may not be as “fun” to use in builds.

@@wojak6378 sorry for the mesa biome mistake, Altough i said glazed terracota and not regular hardemed terracota
1.20 is the modern day 1.10
First time seeing this guys vids, but I agree 1.10 was the lamest update yet, but, this guy seems super nit picky and super critical to the point that not much will make this guy happy about literally everything?
Disagree - it's just a critical video. In fact, the 1.20 section is a lot more optimistic than a large percentage of people are being about 1.20.
I love most updates of this game, and I love the game in general - the reason I talk about its problems so much is because I love it. Totally understand where you're coming from though.
Okay
1.10 honestly felt like left over ideas they had for the past few updates and it felt like it was an update they wanted to get out quickly after the long time it took to do 1.9
i think the problem is that they add useless mobs to the game that are only for looks thats my opinion im not sure
I completely agree with the pink wood. Someone suggested green azalea wood. Have they ever seen azalea IRL?

Bro what the **** is this should I report you!?

1.10 is apart of the nostalgia circle for me.
1.20 is the worst
How?
It adds tons more than 1.10 ever did.
I got confuse for 1.10
@magmamusen
For me the worst MC update is 1.1. Mojang literally added few minor things there.
