Some corrections: 1. The frame rate has never had a hard cap, it's just your PC that's doing it for some reason THEN you REALISE there's a problem with your sound later in the video but can't figure it out lol. 2. Sprinting has been in the game since before 1.0 but you could only activate it before 1.7 by double pressing W. 3. Microsoft didn't start personally developing the game after 1.8, it was still old devs like Jeb and Dinnerbone who introduced new features. 4. The textures were changed in 1.14 not 1.17. How did you not notice this?
1.13 would not be disappointing if we got it now. It’s not every update we get 5 new biomes, 8 new mobs, a new good weapon, new building blocks as goated as the ones added in 1.13, 2 new cool structures, a mechanic as useful as bubble columns, and overall such a drastic change to the overworld.
Sprinting was in the game before 1.7, it was double tap W, but I don't know when it was added. Also the textures changed in 1.14, honestly this gives some points to the version imo but i agree with basically everything
if he has for example 300 fps, and the expected frame rate is 1000, then for lower end pcs; it'll be for example 20 fps as opposed to the expected value of 60.
1.20 was trash, armor trims are useless and needlessly expensive. If they want to add a purely cosmetic item at least make it reusable or not ungodly expensive
@@gusguidance A “use” that has no practicality whatsoever and costs more than the literal enchanting table for no good reason. Even then if you want to trim armor you’re only going to do it four times at most.
The horse you spawned was a baby. Yes baby horses are that spindly. Also, personally I think the horse update should be at least slightly higher given that the horses are the ones from Mo' Creatures back in the day and Dr. Zhark even had his name in the credits for it (I don't know if Dr. Zhark's credit is still in the game or not)
A few corrections: 1) Thank you to everyone who pointed out you could double tap 'w' in earlier versions of the game. 2) I was looking at framerates since maintaining good performance in a 15 year old game that's constantly expanding is a huge technical challenge that doesn't get talked about much. The framerates only affected my ranking of 1.3 since it seems drastic enough to have prevented some players from even playing the game, and had no other impact on my other ratings. My experiment was extremely basic, so I didn't put too much weight on it. Sorry for not making that clear!
2 others things: The texture update was in 1.14, not 1.17. and last but least, you can't say 1.16 is the best ever update and literally place it before 1.14.
1.13 beloved update... I remember people got all kinds of mad because of the stability was soooo bad until 1.13.2... We literally hit a dark point in the games history at that point.... at least until 1.13.2 when they fixed the issue. which later happens again with pillager outposts... and took updates to fix because the jira's staff refused to acknowledge its existence so we had to give videos proving it was vanilla on single player happening and on servers. also 1300 fps, great you had a good experience... there's tons of videos showing the performance was bad mostly for servers were the worst with it. I remember the TPS dropping all the dang time with the stupid cod. We had to use a plugin that prevent cod spawn until it was fixed.. which fixed the tps.. Single player wasnt as bad probably because you dont stay in areas long enough for cod to have been an issue on that world. Dont get me wrong, I love minecraft, and I loved all these updates for what they were. but the performance was obvious especially on servers.

1.20 barely gave anything. When you look at what they added a majority of the things are just visual variants. It objectively isn’t one of the biggest.
The reason Notch could make updates every week was because his game was empty, there was nothing to do, now that there's everything, it's hard to implement something without affecting the rest of the game.
I get the point he’s making about archaeology, however I do think it’s funny he basically said “the archaeology update is bad because it’s to much like actual archaeology and not fake archaeology”
Im pretty sure one of the reasons why the fps was capped at 120 fps in 1.3 was because of some poorly optimized stuff. Im not sure if it had been previously fixed but in really old versions the game would try to give as many frames as possible, for many integrated graphics devices this would cause the game to run incredibly slow (at like 1-3fps). capping the frames most likely was an attempt to fix that issue. If i am wrong do tell me, but im pretty confident that was the reason. Also im pretty sure you get more lag if you dont use Java 8 or below for the older minecraft updates, which might explain why you had 100fps despite having a good computer on 1.4.
yeah and like nine HUNDRED on some versions?? jeez “it was only around 100 fps but it was still playable” how could 100 fps be nearing UNPLAYABLE that’s insane man

You're a child if you think 1.20 is F-tier. Armor trims and archeology are two of the coolest systems the game has ever seen and that update laid the groundwork for them. 1.20 also gave us some of the best songs the game has ever seen and with FPS being such a massive part of your rankings, you completely overlooked the fact that 1.20 was also a bug-fixing update that doubled FPS for the majority of players. Super hypocritical. You gave an update that only introduced 4 new blocks and 1 new mob grace for being a bug fixing update, but you think 1.20 adding twenty times as much content and doing a better job with bug fixes is seriously F tier? Plus the village and pillage update broke so much of the game, I can't believe you'd put it in S. 1.20 had to work overtime trying to undo some of the damage done by 1.14
@@mistical5030 yeah I mean Minecraft is never gonna add anything like that, it wouldn’t be vanilla. Archeology is just a fun new way to package loot and trail ruins are an interesting new puzzle structure. He’s coming into it with the way wrong expectations. If they add a structure like say cave ruins like underwater ruins but you have to fight mobs in between brushing gravel, I could see that as a way to add more adventure. But it’s a game about blocks. We’re not going to be getting a boulder trap or Eurocentric stereotypes about old world artifacts and buried locations. I would be mad if we did.
It's not that low but it's definitely trash. Armor trims are single-purpose useless trash that was a poorly implemented way to try to give more diamond value and archaeology was somehow worse than what was shown at the LIVE entire years prior. Groundwork doesn't mean much when they provide pretty much nothing to begin with.
Heavily underrated 1.13 in this video, not only did the oceans themselves get a ton of work done on them but swimming as a whole was a gigantic edition, it makes everything before that update feel absurdly primitive

He destroyed me for about an hour, before I finally gave up and went back to my house. Never went back either, just let him take the land for himself. I like to imagine he’s still out there to this day, just destroying land and wreaking havoc to that side of my map. Or should I say, his side of the map now lol
There are 2 types of people, the ones who think "elytra" is a good thing so we can fly!! And the ones who think they are absolutely garbage becouse everyone is gonna be flying everywhere and escaping, and everything is ruined, and minecraft loses its essence
4:45 Wait a minute sir, you *Do* realize that you can’t comprehend anything past 60 fps? Just because the frame rate isn’t 120 doesn’t mean it’s bad. Anything at 60 and above, means you are at a smooth fps. You don’t need anything above 60 for it to be playable.
Interesting to see a rank like this in a vanilla (unmodded) standpoint In the modding world, a rank like this would be very different; 1.12 would be the in highest ranking precisely because of the "stagnancy" of features, that allowed mods to get complex with their mods without the worry of another version to update. 1.13 would be featured at the bottom because not only it was the first time modders and players needed to "move on" but also was a very disruptive update internally - change of numeric to string ids, the introduction of datapacks, etc. Before those, 1.7(.10) would also be featured high on the list - before 1.12 it was the version to choose to make huge modpacks - and 1.8 would be featured even lower than 1.13: it suffered not only very similar problems than 1.13 but also featured the first major incident in the history of modded, when a disgruntled Bukkit (modded server software) dev did a DCMA to a fork of the project called Spigot because the folks refused to let the whole project go down and tried to keep the Bukkit alive in some form.
Fun fact: if you go to a Woodland Mansion in modern versions, there's a small chance a secret room on the FIRST floor will generate with a tree and a chest with an EFFECIENCY 1 ARMOR PIECE!!! (So far only canon on Bedrock Edition)

Is 120 fps that bad? 60 fps looks good to me honestly...
Fr
Depends on the hz of your monitor. If you have a 60 hz monitor you can’t even see more than 60 fps
Honestly, 120 fps gives me motion sickness.
105 fps update in B tier is egregious when a brand new biome is in C

New title: I ranked the frame rate of every Minecraft update
Ok bro this guy needs to do his research. Sprinting was introduced way back in beta, the textures changed during 1.14 not 1.17 and he called 1.12 1.2
agreed. I was gonna comment on that stuff
Some corrections:
How did you not notice this?
imagine caring so much about fps and neglecting all the other features in an update

The horse you spawned was a baby.
Yes baby horses are that spindly.
Also, personally I think the horse update should be at least slightly higher given that the horses are the ones from Mo' Creatures back in the day and Dr. Zhark even had his name in the credits for it (I don't know if Dr. Zhark's credit is still in the game or not)
As someone who plays modern Minecraft on Xbox 1, seeing Minecraft with fps in the hundreds baffles me
A few corrections:
1) Thank you to everyone who pointed out you could double tap 'w' in earlier versions of the game.
Microsoft doesn't make updates or manage them, Mojang does that.
2 others things: The texture update was in 1.14, not 1.17.
and last but least, you can't say 1.16 is the best ever update and literally place it before 1.14.
Also 1.20 introduced rewrite to game's light engine that made drastic fps difference between 1.19 and 1.20, and it was mid but not as bad

1.20 was a really good update all around for me, we got QOL changes, and a lot of new miscellaneous features that I personally enjoy having and I use pretty much all of them in my survival world. For me it’s an A or S tier.

@@Justin_MM2_YT I said MOST of the features are boring, that doesn’t mean all. I do agree the armor trims are nice.

1.20 barely gave anything. When you look at what they added a majority of the things are just visual variants.
It objectively isn’t one of the biggest.
1.19 was really not THAT bad
The reason Notch could make updates every week was because his game was empty, there was nothing to do, now that there's everything, it's hard to implement something without affecting the rest of the game.
who let bro cook⚰
I get the point he’s making about archaeology, however I do think it’s funny he basically said “the archaeology update is bad because it’s to much like actual archaeology and not fake archaeology”
You can barely tell changes in fps above 120 why is that such an important factor to you lmao
The frame rate was never capped, it's just his PC, and he's presenting it as a fact.

1.20 had to work overtime trying to undo some of the damage done by 1.14
i was genuinely so close to just close out the video when i heard him say that when he thinks of archeology he imagines indiana jones and jackie chan
Interesting to see a rank like this in a vanilla (unmodded) standpoint
In the modding world, a rank like this would be very different; 1.12 would be the in highest ranking precisely because of the "stagnancy" of features, that allowed mods to get complex with their mods without the worry of another version to update.
1.14-1.17 was my fav era of minecraft
1.20 in f tier is just criminal
