This video becomes more spooky when you realize in Minecraft 1.3 they changed the single-player client into a multiplayer client private session, basically you're running a private server for yourself and you're supposed to be the only one who can play that server until you choose to open it up and give someone else a link to join, so that's what Mojang did back then, and that What makes this video more spooky.

Yes, but you would need to port-forward to allow other players on different wifi networks to join
that's also why you can now get lag inside of a singleplayer world
@@NumericChaff you'd need to have already fully hacked someone's computer to be able to install a custom minecraft launcher that sends the private server data elsewhere, and i doubt it'd be a good live feed
it's a closed feed server so it's basically impossible for someone to "breach" your game without already having full control of your computer
and to think this all could have been avoided if the players turned off their wifi…

8ball would be 100% justified in DDoSing Minewatch. Hacking into peoples private worlds and networks? Stealing people's RUclips/Google accounts? Constant harassment of players? If any of this was real, they'd be #1 on the Minecraft community's shit list.
You realize none of this is real right? For example, the snooper setting used to 'set up' a camera, hasn't been a setting for over 5 years but it's still an 'ongoing mystery'

DDOS only disables/jams a service for a short period of time. You'd have to set up multiple devices to send out gigabytes of data packets every day. And soon they'd be blocked and you'd have to change IP addresses. From a realistic point of view, as they obtained the admin credentials, they might as well completely wipe their servers, shutting it down completely. Unless of course the admins have a backup.
To be honest this is the first time I've seen a video like this by anyone where it's not just a creepypasta and I'm actually really fascinated by stuff like this and I hope to see more, good job Retro!

To lighten the tone of this ARG-esque thing, I would like to imagine that considering that "snooper" has to be on for these cameras to setup is funny because it suggests that Mojang themselves is behind this especially considering all the controversy when versions of 1.19 released with chat reporting and the whole thing about Mojang banning accounts from multiplayer AND singleplayer. It makes it look like they're watching everything you do so they can ban you if you do something that the mob would flame them for, lol

I had something similar, but it was when I broke a purple orb thing in Terraria back in 2014 or so as a kid. The phrase "You feel a chill down your spine" somehow made me feel it as well, probably because I haven't seen text appear so far.

The feeling of being watched actually is when your unconscious mind has seen something else’s eyes in your peripheral vision before you even realize it. Basically it means you’ve already spotted what’s watching you subconsciously and you haven’t noticed it in your conscience mind
Edit: it more has to do with the fact that our subconscious brain can recognize patterns quicker than our conscious (our normal vision) can. It’s kinda like a fight or flight response. We notice we are being watched and it keeps us on our guard. And it’s less of a paranormal thing and more of a survival thing

Also, how is another being’s eyes being in your peripheral vision, that you actually are being watched, a common theory for a cause of that feeling? It's so crazy watching the whole timeline of Minewatch, from it's inception in July 2022 to this eventual video one year later. It was a blast trying to investigate this series throughout it's stagnation, hiatus, and now it's explosive rise. Thank you for making a video on this channel, RGN!
I cannot believe the unbelievably dread inducing and mysterious introduction on this video, on a minecraft video of all things. You really capture the feelings of horror without a insultingly dark subject matter.
The concept of the minewatch website is interesting, but i feel it would be better if the ARG only included the recordings of the site showing different worlds. A lot of these though turn into an elaborate story where the person making the videos is targeted by the entity or admins and they become more distressed while writing about it in detail and then eventually encountering them in thir world. I remember another ARG involving many admins coming after the uploader as well. Keeping these simple makes these better rather than becoming a conspiracy where everything is connected with spoopy messages and becoming the same thing as other ARGs.

the scary thing is that this can totally be real, Minecraft's Singleplayer feature already hosts a server but other players are not allowed to join, I don't know if the telemetry options can enable that, but if so, this could totally happen, combine Coppenheimer (bot that joins random servers and also found servers like the dreamsmp and hermitcraft and so on) and that exploit, then that can stream the perspective of the camera player, intriguing.

No, it couldn't be real. Unless there was malware that modified or replaced your .jar. Which would be dumb because they could make more money for less effort by exploiting webcams.
And telemetry options definitely would not do that. You're sending tiny bits of mostly-technical data at a very infrequent rate (probably once per session).

And the game's server-client architecture still is not a factor in this.

It’s probably fake, but it would be cool if it could somehow be made into a mod (user signs some kind of agreement, and can place camera blocks which livestream to a website)

I think one thing that makes minecraft so great for horror aspects is it’s friendly and easy going nature. The game has a very wholesome vibe and pretty surface level, until you hear certain cave sounds, a mob that looks too creepy or weird ruins. Your mind starts to race as you think there could be something deeper in the game itself. I remember I was exploring a forest area and I heard these chains or some very loud creaking noises as I stared into the foggy distant skybox, wondering what could those chains be withholding
The author of the video said that the text of the second sound is illegible, but this is not so. It says in Russian: “To log into the admin account, you need to activate the lever in the outermost stone house.”

I love this videos! It, in a way, gives me nostalgia to old creepypasta Minecraft videos. They are lost to time, no more good ones are made, except this guy! You make the best old looking creepypastas that I would get scared as a kid. This is really entertaining to watch!

Maybe the "bugs" are related the player's malware-protection kickeing-in, and atempting to block the feed from going out?
On the singleplayer worlds, it could also be the players internet being spotty, or being deliberatly disconnected.
Antimalware wouldn't kick in at random times. It simply would not allow it to be run in the first place.

this reminds me of those old camera blocks from mobile, or bedrock, or whatever edition they were in
God, this hits home and not in a good way. I had a hacker infiltrating my Minecraft world on bedrock. It was a stranger and the world was set to invite only. They began calling me fat and adressing me by my real name. They even revealed exactly where i live. It was fucking terrifying and made me really worried that theyd do something do my game, account or even computer. That was also the day i decided to get a vpn to at least make it harder for such creeps to get my adress.

@@Jesuslovesyou326 I genuinely don't know. In bedrock edition you can make a world multiplayer anytime you want and I had it set to where only people I invited could join. I'm guessing they tinkered around with the code that determines whether or not you can join. It's still scary tho

TBH, as a Minecrafter who is also a big fan of motion graphics, I love the fact that most of the logos in this video are based on real life home video logos.
I remember one of those recordings; it's something made by machine that was supposedly allowing to hear voices of the dead (it works on the fact that your brains tries to correct distorted human voices leading to illusion of hearing somebody speak).
in a way this reminds me of those things from the game atomic heart where you can talk to dead bodies huh

If this concept could be real, and be given permission from the servers being used, this concept could be a cool idea for a massive cross-server scavenger hunt. Having people having to figure out not only which popular server the cameras are being used on, but the exact location would be a ton of fun. Imagine hiding one a long way out in 2b2t. Could even use the Minecraft@Home technology for some really difficult ones.

This is a fantastically creepy idea. One of the whole pulls of old Minecraft is the openess and the loneliness. Introducing a watcher is like introducing a nightmare to a young 9 year old me, a few hours after my bedtime, hunched up late playing “singleplayer.”
