Nice to see Adrian out of the Maiden context. He looks great, too!
One of my favourite players ever, definitely my favourite in Maiden, he writes incredible solos & riffs...
Wasted years is a masterpiece !
I think the Somewhere in Time album was heavily influenced by Smith. Really modal and different to the other albums. Seventh Son is still my favourite, but I feel Smith really took control of the direction of SIT and put his stamp on it.
Sea of Madness solo is 👌
@@shredx81 agreed pal, both those albums dare I say are a step up from previous efforts, tbh, I lost interest in Maiden when Smith left, I personally felt the following songs/albums suffered without him, I know it's a team effort but he is integral for me, The Writings on the wall solo, say no more!!! Cheers
@@getchapull4370 I think TWOTW solo is one of his best.
@@getchapull4370 100%.. I also think Bruce's best solo work was heavily influenced by Adrian.
For any that don't recognise it; from 1:00 to 2:00 he plays Free's 'Fire And Water'.
Immediate Kossoff ......
Adrian Smith is class
Dude loves music and loves to fish. Sounds like he’s solved the riddle of life.
He is the best n
Same as Roger Daltry 😎👍
Why the hell anyone loves fishing is beyond me though, but maybe I’m just not enlightened yet.
@@lb9029 for a lot of folk that grew up poor, it’s putting food on the table. I can’t see Roger Daltry struggling to feed the family these days though 🙄💰💸💵💶💴💰. It tends to be more relaxing than golf ….🤔
@@billyaitken7461 I mean, yeah, fishing for food I get. Fishing for entertainment is what I don’t understand
One of the greatest guitarists and riff makers of the last 40 years just messing around on random guitar while paying tribute to his influences: I love this video!!!!
Adrians "ASAP" Solo album is still awesome. 🔥
He makes that guitar worth every penny.
Had a few beers with Adrian over the years, he’s a lovely bloke… decent, down to Earth and incredibly talented ✊🙂🇬🇧
Indeed! A very Down to earth guy
Adrian The Great
One of my all time favorite guitarists.
Who'd a thunk it? Adrian Smith layin' down the blues. Outstanding!
I find Adrian stands out from all the Maiden chaps as he seems to constantly evolve in his playing. Listen to many of his solos in the last tour, check-out RUclips videos and you'll see what I mean. His solos from old songs sound fresh, full of feel, immediate, anchored in the present moment. There is an evolution in his playing that I don't hear from the other chaps.
I guess playing the blues is part of Adrian's evolution and it makes him sound fresh. I can definitely hear the blues influence in his Maiden solos.
I sure don't care for the Smith kozen. I can take only so much of the blues.
But on the other hand, I love him in maiden. Always have.
@@metalEric69I was never a blues fan too, and don't resonate at all with that Kozen guy, but I can see the blues influence in Adrian's playing in his Maiden solos, especially during the last tour like I said earlier. His older solos seems to have even more feel than they previously had, and I think the blues is part of that.
He's always been the bluesier player in Maiden.. Murray sounds totally different.. Equally great but very diff style
4:27 Hanging out with Adrian Smith jamming the blues on a '55?? Too Cool!!
my favourite guitar player all of time❤❤
THE SOUL SIDE OF MAIDEN
❤️
He will forever be my number one

Adrian, Somewhere in Time is an amazing, brilliant album. Still love it since I scraped together/borrowed a few quid to buy it on its first day of release.
Came across this by chance, excellent, love Iron Maiden, love the playing of Paul Kossoff, and I own and play Les Pauls. Great video.
Indeed a special moment!
Thank you for the kind comments
He's so fecking good. My fav guitarist for over 30 years.
Adrian has always been the "cool" one in Iron Maiden ... legend
By the time Adrian was done, Iron Maiden’s best music was done too 🫣😖🥲, great music back then.😎🤘
@@billyaitken7461”done”!? Lol

Adrian is one cool cat. 👍
Adrian turning 70, man TIME FLIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is born 1957👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My original post was referring to the age of the guitar that Adrian and the person he was talking to was discussing.
They both incorrectly added the years of the age of the guitar wrong.
The guitar is a 1955, we are in the year 2024, which means that the guitar is obviously 69 years old at this point in time.
Cheers.
The Black Beauty Custom w p90s has an allure
Adrian & Dave fierce tandem 🌟🌟
Maiden fan from day one and Mr. Adrian Smith fan from the day he joined Maiden. This video is so cool and as is the guitar! Thanks 🙏
Thank you! We wanted the fan to be happy with this very exclusive content!
Magnifique rencontre avec Monsieur Adrian Smith, guitare fabuleuse ! Beau travail BRAVO !!!!
Smith and Murray, my favorite guitar duo ever. They never get respect. Damn shame.
Still remember a Guitar World or Guitar Player from the early ‘80s with them on the cover. Still going strong four decades later. Seeing ‘em next year! 🤘
Plenty from me
They got plenty of respect... Hundreds of bands were inspired by Maiden. Even Satriani was gushing over the Dave & Adrian duo.
@@paulrockatansky77yeahhh...i agree
A guitar and a glass of red wine = a cool evening
Yes!!!!! Been waiting for this chapter forever!!!
Adrian is the reason why my first guitar was a LP single-cut. ……Rocking a gold-top Les Paul back in some of those more classic Iron Maiden Days 🇬🇧🎸🤘😎👍❗️
Amazing player, songwriter and all round cool dude
True musician and a guitarist this guy !!
i was enjoying that, i hate when people cut the video off. Wish it was longer ??😩
I would love for Adrian to do a straight blues album. His stuff with Kotzen was awesome as hell.
Blues mostly and often is boring, but i know the influences on rock and metal and many genres, but most blues isn’t my taste! But i listen to all good stuff for me from any genre generally!
Blues is utterly boring. Agree.

Marvellous x
The amount of hours these guys have guitars in their hands can make them grow so much.
I'm amazed Adrian is spending his spare time in a guitar shop...you usually find him in a fishing tackle shop on his days off.
Just listen to all his lead parts : all heavily rooted in Blues

Hope hes got some new tracks for maiden
And me because they ain’t gotta patch on Saxon or priest in decades
@@JamesEvans-uh7nu lol are you serious Saxon and preist basically release the same old stuff every album where as maiden push boundaries get real
No pick because he’s been hangin with Richie.
Always the G string! 😆
Did he buy it ? :)
Something tells me he's in the market for a 50's era LP like a burst or custom like this one.
Was he playing SRV or just a blues shuffle? Either way its cool to see him play something other than metal.
It was just a standard 12 bar blues run.
@@MercilessGuitar151Well the overall feel was very reminiscent of Pride and Joy.
Does this shop sell guitar picks?
Doesn't need one. I play half the time without picks for different techniques and style of music. Try it out. You'll improve your overall skill if you use fingerstyle picking.
@@garycastronova7939 I wasn't looking for guitar lessons, and how do you know I dont? Can you play 250 BPM without a pick?
@@ScoobieSwisher7413I've totally never had a problem doing artificial squeals with and without a pick pretty, luckily for me, effortlessly, like once you can, lol you just can.. But for fast runs and full out, my full on fastest licks,I gotta have a pick.. Preferably at least a 1.14 tortex.. But definitely not a thin floppy thing haha..I used to break the tips off of the old fender medium picks.. Now I'm stuck on the tortex purple 1.14, reg size with the jazz 3 tip

Not enough cash,
I wanna ask him about his Lado guitars. Does he still have them ?
Check out Nico's Licks of the Beast RUclips channel. He's just done a review of a Lado similar to the one that Adrian used
@@michaeldean7220 I have one

I've been wondering that for a while too. Adrian's Lado guitars, and Steve's bass too (Harris had a blue Lado) were used during the Powerslave era, but have not been seen for a long time now.
BTW, Powerslave will turn 40 YEARS Sept 3rd 2024, 40 FREAKING YEARS!!!!
I still vividly remember September 3rd 1984, driving downtown with friends, heading to our favourite record store to buy Powerslave on the day of its release. I remember hearing an "Egyptian sounding" guitar riff when I entered the store, turns out it was the song "Flash Of The Blade" from Powerslave.
Good old days!!!
And I still have that vinyl record to this day.
@@benderocks788 I hoped on the legacy tour they’d come out for a song or 2 to my disappointment they didn’t
@@yeahwhatevermikeKind of like Rush playing Xanadu with the double-necks. I was expecting that from Rush in their last tours and they finally did it.
In the case of the Powerslave-era Lado guitars/basses, maybe someone close to the Maiden camp could ask one of the chaps if they still have them Lados, and let them know it be nice to bring them out again for a song or two. Adrian had a nice one, the black one in the Aces High video. And I think he had a grey one too but I'm not sure as this memory dates back to about 40 years ago, and it's kind of blur in my mind as these years were filled with "smoke" for some reason 🤣
Brad Whitford is killer at blues too. 🤘🏼

Do guitar heros suffer that awful " what do I play? " When in that situation??
Indeed, he was in admiration in front of Paul Kossoff’s guitar for a few minutes, though he quickly knew what to play 😂

He means that Adrian left in 1990 to play blues. That's when he quit being a band member in Iron Maiden.
Adrian had a reunion with Maiden in 1998/1999 along with Dickinson.
All players start on the blues then go off elsewhere
not true...
There is always an argumentative twat on here
I like Adrian, but if thats supposed to be SRV's pride and joy @2:45 he totally butchered it, wrong notes man lol
Who gives? Is he even known as a real blues player? No, he just likes it and plays it for himself.
Really? 😅😅
I love when people chime in and look like fools- haha! He played it fine and you can hear his fret hand articulating the unique harmonics associated with playing that type of Blues . So, either you’re clueless on all this or you haven’t developed your hearing enough, yet.
🤣you’re clueless dude! So many damn songs that have that same
Texas blues shuffle of pride and joy!
SRV isn’t the first to write a song with that shuffle and isn’t the last.
