For us fans, watching one of our idols having so much fun playing a song we've never seen live is just a gift. Thanks Adrian!!!
INDEED!!!
Agreed. I do the same still. Listen and TRY to play. Lol. Kids today have nothing that even comes close to these legends. Up the Irons!!!
Exatamente!
It is life ❤️❤️
UP THE IRONS!
This is probably the only possible "live" version of "Gangland" you will ever get from Iron Maiden.
The members of Iron Maiden are such good people, just down to earth people who have created amazing music.
Adrian, as a big fan ....
.... seeing this made my year bud!
I love the fun you express on here and seriously love your playing style , plus being an honest, nice , no ego human being.
Canada loves IRON MAIDEN
Genius! more like this man!
Awesome Adrian thanks !! Up The IRONS !! 🤘🎸🔥
I love that he still has that old LP gold top .
Thats awesome 🤘🏻
Adrian, one of my all time favorites. Learning to play Stranger in a strange land solo taught me so much.
Truly great. Adrian is one of the greats who just has great riffs, and a great style. It's funny to hear, like someone else said, his doubts about his performance. Very enjoyable jam from one of the greats.
Thank you! We need more 🤘🏻up the Irons 🔥
Adrian Master🤘🏼🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's fun to watch closeups like these as an amateur guitarist. Compared to my finger flailing, this looks so smooth that he could be faking it for all I know. Good stuff.
Adrian Smith is the coolest 🤘
Why can´t I like this video again? 🤩
Hi Adrian, Hi from Brazil 🇧🇷🤘🎸👍👏👏. Brazil loves Iron Maiden 🇧🇷🤘. Come to Brazil, Welcome to Brazil 🤘👊👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

We love to dave and janic, but he it the best!
We need more videos like this one from all the members!!! UP THE IRONS!
That would be the best kind of content to make bearable the waiting for the new album and the end of quarantine times!

YES. Definitely brings joy and a smile to my face during such dark and depressing times. We sure can use some casual, jamming out videos from Adrian to brighten the day.
The dudes in this band are all so humble and real. Huge respect for them!
Harris humble?!?!

Adrian and Dave are for sure! their success hasnt affected them one bit.

Gangland wasn't a B side mste
max rav he’s just saying in general.
My God, you're right! I completely missed it was track 7 on Maiden's most iconic album. Thanks for telling me ❤️
@@hairtrooper91 OK fair enough lol . I read it wrong.
Gangland and 22 acacia Avenue were 2 songs I always loved of off number of the beast.
One of the most underrated Maiden songs ever. Clive's drum part is just so killer.
Fully agree. I hate when people disqualify it. This song is a master piece, very cool and great melody.
Clive's drum part? Clive's drums complete career!!, CLIVE BURR an awesome musician and Mr. "Fisherman" Adrian Smith a vital element in the troupe.
No Iron Maiden song is underrated..!
@@gonogazz most maiden songs are underrated wtf
Underappreciated is better, underrated is way too overused. Immediate eyeroll…

Adrian is so down to earth. Total respect for such a talented, yet, humble musician.
I got to have a beer with him. He's the real deal. Super nice, down-to-Earth and just absolutely cool. He LOVES music. Such a nice guy.
A nice human being and good guitarist but not good for a metal band@@danw4490
Adrian's joyous laughter at the end gives me life. Up the irons forever.
It's contagious. Love it!
Hell yes!
Bruce and Steve though
UP THE IRONS!!
Until I die 🤘🤘
There really should be a weekly adrian show where he does obscure maiden riffs like this
This guy could really give a sh*t if he wanted. Yet he invites us to his home, and makes one of the most awesome music videos I have ever seen.
He can afford the luxury to show that even he can miss some notes on the guitar.
So special, so intimate, so humble - this guy is really a LEGEND.
I have listened to Iron Maiden for 35 years, seen them on stage 7 times. Today, after so many years I met Adrian Smith in person.
It was truly unique.
WE NEED MORE LIKE THIS....especally the old stuff up the irons.
Far too many long Prog tracks over the last few years, love the early stuff. I’d rather listen to a track wanting more rather listening to a track and getting bored as it’s gone on to long.
Next should be Total Eclipse. That would be a treat a specially the solo part
Hell yes i love that song, has a real viciousness to it
Up!
@@arnaldo.ls.1954 the!
I think the Like A Hurricane line was stolen by the Scorpions. Klaus even sings it that way before the solo of Rock You Like A Hurricane. It was purloined, that is my belief.
Agree. Great song.
I always thought Gangland was a criminally underrated song they should've played more
Definitely
But bruce didn’t like it and they removed it from new LP which was replaced by total eclipse I want them to contain nine songs but not removing it
Don't tell the other guitarists, but you're secretly my favorite.
I've been waiting 38 years to see that being played. Thank you Adrian
The best part was hearing his reactions to the little things while playing (missing a beat, key change, etc).
Such an intimate experience for such classic ❤️
Yes, I appreciate his laughs and comments while playing. Pre-internet era fans could only dream of this content. Thanks.
I wonder how many youths of today could appreciate what we're seeing here: an internationally renowned, millionaire rockstar, well in his 50s, with absolutely nothing to prove to anyone. Yet here's Adrian Smith (I got goosebumps just typing your name, for god's sake!) jamming in his room like a kid, and sharing his doubts on the performance. Things like this can only add (if possible) to the greatness of what you have done with your music, Mr.Smith. Thanks for filling the huge and best part of my life with your riffs and solos.
He'a actually 63 years old. Hard to believe, right?
Dick D... Sadly probably not too many unless they've either been introduced to it by their parents, uncles or hopefully discovered Maiden on their own hopefully.
I cant agree with you more though, been a fan myself since 1985 when I first heard them and will be a fan till the day I die
I'm 14 and absolutely love Maiden. Metal forever

moar adrian, please
Cmon play that type of songs that havent been played in a long time in the next tour. For example I would love you play Paschendale again
Alexander the great!!! Or Stranger in a strange land
And Judas Be My Guide, Sun and Steel, Flash of the Blade, The Duelists, The Prophecy, Deja Vu, Fates Warning, Run Silent Run Deep, The Nomad, Montsegur, Isle of Avalon, and i think you get my point.
Okay hear me out...thin line between love and hate? Or I'd love to hear them do some b sides live too
Back in the village
New Songs : Ghost of the Navigator, Wildest Dreams, El Dorado, The Talisman, Brighter than a Thousand Suns, The Red and the Black
Old Songs : Killers, Remember Tomorrow, Total Eclipse, Trooper (as usual), The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Caught somewhere in Time, Alexander the Great, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Would love if they DON'T PLAY : Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, Fear of the Dark, Run to the Hills, Hallowed be thy Name
As a 13 year old boy listening to Maidens albums from that period, I would never ever thought that I actually would be able to interact with a member of that band this way 35 years later. This is so personal. When you have been to so many concerts, standing at the rail cheering your forever hero machine-running band doing it's thing, this is next level. Thank you Adrian for what you have given us over all these years, and thank you for sharing this.
Exactly !
I love Adrian's solos, they always have so much attitude and a strong melodic character
A tuneful player, to be sure.
Boondoggle... I couldn't agree more!
Awesome guitar player ! ❤👏👏🤘
I hear a lot of Michael Schenker in him... Who was my fave player growing up..
I've always prefered him to Dave. Much more stylish player.
Can we get ‘ Talking music with Adrain - 22 Acacia Avenue ‘
@klee66 so is mine ..🤘
THATS IT!
Great humble man.
Great guitarist.
100% pure Maiden.
not sure if "underrated" is the correct word for the song, but "gangland" is definitely a brilliant showcase of the late clive burr's skills. many thanks a.s. (and maiden) for the video.
it is underrated by Steve. He despises it.
@@83marceloa each to their own. personally; if someone asked me to describe the n.w.o.b.h.m. sound i'd point them in the direction of this track.
@@lesterunwin Personally Lester, I regard Alexander the Great as Maiden's best work. In the past 5 years, I've studied a slew of history and the current book I'm reading is "The Might of the West" by Lawrence R. Brown, and in it, you read briefly about Persia (or Iran or Aryans) getting easily defeated 334-333 BC. Persia was weak even though they had conquered pretty much all of the Levant or Palestine/Mesopotamia/Egypt in the 100s of years before. They were ripe for getting rolled over. It's telling how Jesus spoke Aramaic, yet all the first "Christians" and written text were in Greek. The first "Christians" were Hellenic Jews. Alexander's time was well before all that though.
@@83marceloa Why? It's not even the weakest track *coughinvaderscough*
@@TjMetalHead94 I've always thought it was the weakest track as well. Not so much for the music, but I just never cared for the vocal delivery.
How refreshing to see a "rock star" in a pretty normal looking home studio. Seriously underated guitarist.
UNDERRATED!!?!?! Aaaaahhhh. Stop using that word! He is world renowned !!!!!
he lives near a load of neighbours to they hear him in the loft
Around 99.9% of all guitar players wish they are "underrated" like Adrian.
Underrated. You use that word but I don't think you know what it means.
Adrian and Dave are not flashy but have inspired almost every metal guitarist after them…they may not appear on lists tho as lists are trash anyways
Gangland is a classic, Bruce and Clive on another level 🤘
Peter it's you
You know what’s up peter
Hey 🅱️eter!
I agree. Totally underrated song.
@Samuel Jones I thought I killed him!
Adrian looks like he hasn't aged since 2008.
I refuse to believe this man is 63.
hes looking better actualy
He's always looked great, IMO. Still rockin' it at 63.
He looks like he's in better shape too.. :) Love Adrian.. my all time biggest influence.. He's my Gary Moore. Even though I love Gary, but I wouldn't have really listened to him till I heard Adrian talk about him in the past.
Botox
That's a great opportunity to modify the setlist of the shows!
Exactly. I have seen Maiden several times. But I only will attend another show only with an updated setlist. Twilight zone, Genghis Khan, 22.Acaccia Avenue, To Tame a Land, Flight of Icarus, The Duellists, Somewhere In Time, SEA of Madness, The Lonelines of the Long Distance Runner, Deja-vu, Alexander the Great, Only the Good Die Young, Infinite Dreams, No Prayer For the Dying, Public Enemy Numer One...
Damn, they should do it those fans that don't want to hear Run To the Hills and Two Minutes To Midnight for 1001 time!! :-)
@@martinblackwhite you know flight of Icarus is in the Setlist?
I’m hoping for songs like when the wild wind blows, rime of the ancient mariner, brave new word, prowler, can I play with madness, and journeyman to be played
@@martinblackwhite I always say that there are so many (SO MANY!) songs that Iron Maiden should play in concert, that they should do some kind of tour dedicated only to those forgotten gems that have been rarely, or never, played live on stage! In my opinion, and I'm fan of this band since 84, there are not fillers or mediocre songs on the albums that Maiden made in the 80's, NOT a single one! And this fact could allow the band to choose from a huge number of great songs. And, yet, songs like The Duellists, Flash of the Blade, Alexander The Great, Sun and Steel, Prodigal Son, have never (🤬) been played live... And some others, like To Tame a Land, Caught Somewhere in Time, Genghis Khan, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, have been played very very seldom in all the long career of this band. I really do not understand why! Greetings from Italy!
@@martinblackwhite Hell ya!..they need to change it up with songs they never play live..
I absolutely LOVE this. He still has a blast playing this after so many years and probably thousands and thousands of times preforming it.
So awesome, great video.

Well said!!!🎸🇬🇧🤘
I think Invaders is one of their best songs : so fast, so groovy and simple. Amazing.
Why underrated? are included in masterpiece album. For us, early fans, aren't underrated
The prisoner performance on Maiden England is divine.
Total Eclipse was an add well after the original album came out

And More covers! :)
THESE ARE THE KIND OF GEMS WE NEED TO HEAR AT MAIDEN SHOWS. WE CAN DO WITHOUT NOTB, FOTD, RUN TO THE HILLS, THE TROOPER, & TWO MINUTES.
You can't watch maiden live if they don't play fear of the dark
@@cyborgeddie4585 oh i can...you know why I love Maiden England 88? No Trooper, No Fear of the Dark... Same goes for the Beast over Hammersmith
I hate to say this because I am a Maiden fan since 1985, but yeah, the last time I saw Maiden live was the AMOLAD tour where they played the album in its entirety, and then when they played some of the classics near the end, I stayed for Two Minutes and Fear of the Dark, and then my girlfriend and I bailed to beat the traffic. As much as I love those songs, I wish they would change them up. When they brought out Flight of Icarus after at least 20 years, I was very, very happy. That was the second Maiden song I learned on guitar, after Losfer Words (another song they need to bring out of the mothballs)
@@joe666b Ah, Beast over Hammersmith. A Gem of a live album. Bruce just nails it with his flawless singing.
Killers is my favourite on that album.
@@joe666b that's what we need. None of these songs. They have so many good songs, so many.
Would be cool to have Dave & Adrian together some time, talking about their days growing up together, and evolving into the greatest guitar duo of all time. Then we could have Dave Murray talk a bit about "Still Life"
Still Life.....one of Dave Murray's finest moments.

That made me smile - Adrian just enjoying playing old maiden tunes, just like us fans do. Great stuff.

Definitely mate, I love how all of them are honest, down-to-earth guys despite being members of one of the greatest bands of all time :)
as one of the "quieter" members of Maiden ( not much media articles//interviews over the years ) I am so glad to finally get to know and appreciate Adrian at this level. Watching Smith/Kotzen including their interviews, and then this IS So cool ! Thanks for the upload and to Adrian for taking the time.
He could easily have a MONSTER ego( and deservedly so), but you can see he is still totally down to earth, laughing around etc
YES!! He just felt like an old buddy!!
he used to have, but he´s very chilled and down to earth dude now by my opinion
IMO, Maiden have never been the Monster ego types ,except for maybe Bruce back in the old days? They always kept it pretty street level never really doing it for the fame.

I wish Clive was still with us and talk to us about his childhood, favorite musicians,
practice routine etc. etc. something similar to this, what a tremendous drummer ❤️
Clive's parts are more difficult than people realise. When he was with Dee Snider in 'Desperado' Dee said that he played with the vocals more than with the Bass, which was interesting to hear. Always been a huge fan since 79!
Me too. I am a HUGE Clive Burr’s fan. I follow every fragment from him on Internet and RUclips. Not to disqualify Nicko... thats so immature... but I simply love his drumming patterns. Thanks Adrian to give credit to Gangland!!!! Is is a GREAT music.

Gangland was always one of my favourite tracks from Beast - not sure why it's not so popular with some people
There's not a single bad track on Beast IMHO. It is still my fave Maiden album by far.
@@SpeccyMan Can't beat Killers for me!
I think people dislike it because it shoved Total Eclipse off the album, which is arguably a better track but lacks the absolute brute force of this tune. I like both a lot!
Maybe because they never played it live, and Steve always said he did not really like the track (along with Invaders). Personally I love it and just hearing the drums takes me back to being 10 years old again
It's a good punky riff, but the middle section is quite lame. That's OK. Not like they really workshopped this song.
I also feel the writing can get pretty lazy on Powerslave, like some of the songs they felt 'ehh, sounds good enough.' It's not nearly as epic in terms of sheer amazing songs, but the band is playing incredibly well, and has a looser more natural feel than Piece of Mind.
Can you make more of this with all members? Lovin' it

I grew up in a very religious family. My parents not so much, but all my relatives and the town I grew up in had a church on every corner. One of my D&D buddies was a drummer for the high school band and he got this album. I was immediately hooked. I made a copy on cassette and had to disguise it in a Linda Ronstadt cassette case! My mom actually thought I was a huge fan of her and she actually bought me one of her albums for my birthday. "oh he loves Linda Ronstadt. I see him listening to that in his Walkman all the time" lol it was Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast I was actually listening to. I had a Black Sabbath cassette in a John Denver case.
