Everybody say Bruce Dickinson has changed the Iron Maiden's level, but for me the first guy to do it was Adrian Smith. It's very clear the difference between first album to the second one.
For me Adrian has always been an essential essence of Maiden. He was massively missed when he left. You only see that when you hear Brave New World after his absence. A truly great song writer and musician.
Exactly my thoughts. From No Prayer from the Dying on, you can see Harris taking over Iron Maiden's musical structure, and songs became a little more crude and simple. Even epic songs like Fear of the Dark and Sign of the Cross were simple and kinda raw. Now if you compare that with Adrian's compositions, you can see big difference.
Couldn’t agree more - Steve really seemed to get “lazy” with his songwriting. I hate to say that, because he can write whatever he wants, but I feel Adrian provided a creative push in the songwriting department. Also, if Adrian hadn’t left they wouldn’t have had to hire Jannick…

I think the big differences between the 3 player's styles is what makes it work so well. Janick may not be that technical but he bought an energy to the band and helped them through the tricky mid 90's when their career could have petered out.
Janick is great! When everyone thought Maiden was done for, they released Fear of the Dark and turned the odds in their favor again. Janick was responsible for that!!!
@@LeandroDelPrete absolutely particularly when you consider that NPFTD is easily the weakest album they did with Bruce. Janick's stage moves still divide opinion but I have no problems. I think he actually energised Dave and Adrian since if you look at them in the 80's they were almost too static. It's a nice story also since Janick was on the verge of packing up being a musician just before he played on Bruce's Tattooed Millionaire solo album and then subsequently got the Maiden gig. Always comes across as down to earth and no rock star ego.
@@michaeldean7220 I agree with you on Janick's moves, I think he's a badass especially when he throws his guitar around, and he gives an awesome vibe on stage.
1:02 it feels like mr crowley
I wouldn't be surprised if Adrian said he admires Randy Rhoads' guitar playing. Who doesn't, right?
Adrian Smith playing with a Gibson Les paul is my favorite sound of Iron maiden
Um dos melhores guitarristas do heavy metal
Adrian é o cara!
love it dude! but you missed 22 acacia avenue and arguably his classic solo in "The Prisoner " i know hard to pick but AD is the most underrated guitarist in rock.
I know, 22 and Prisoner have awesome
solos but it was really hard to pick. Making a top 10 is tough job! Thanks for watching man, I appreciate it very much.
I'm missing his solo of "The Final Frontier"! That's his best 👌 Also on the solo records of Bruce he did some amazing ones 😍
You're right, it's a fantastic solo! Adrian's got so many good solos I couldn't fit them all. Please check Part 2 video, I'm sure you're gonna like it.
About Bruce's solo career, I love King in Crimson and The Tower. Great solos from Mr. Smith.
@@LeandroDelPrete Yes that's definately true! 🙌 I really adore the fantastic solo from "Man of Sorrows" from the Accident of birth record. It's the same quality as Final Frontier. Never heard notes fitting so perfectly and beautiful to the chords underneath. 👍 ... oh I haven't seen the second one. Will have a look. Greets 🤟
One of my favorite solos is Different World, no one talks about it
Right! It's a really cool solo and has a distinct feeling. I'm really fond of it.
This man is a Genius !!! 😍👍
The wicker man!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Great tune! No room in this top 10 though...sorry!!!
Heaven can wait #crowd quire 🤘🤘
I love that part!!! Wish I could be there too!!!
legendary guitarist.
So you like the “Somewhere in Time” album? All of Adrian’s solos are so good on this one.
I personally like the first solo in The Red and the Black, best. Iconic if you ask me. And so is Adrian Smith🙏
I love that song! It really deserved a spot, but then again, The Great Unknown and Death or Glory also have amazing solos. I just can't fit them all in a top 10. That's how good Adrian is.
Not having Wasted Years on this list is a crime against humanity.
Wasted Years is set to block the video because of copyrights. I tried.
@@LeandroDelPrete
Friggin' copyrights.
The same happened to Alexander the Great. I was utterly disappointed, but that's RUclips.
Canzoni come Stranger in a Strange Land e Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner mi commuovono fino ad oggi.
One of the best rock guitarist on earth! And on hell as well!
Yes Adrian is just like the fine cover of smoothness on a asphalt highway....everything thing is bound together and no accident occurs even if you drive very 200 kmph.
The wicker man 🤘🥂
I love it! Also The Mercenary, Fallen Angel, The Thin Line...it's not easy to do a top 10 with so many good songs to pick up from!
You included like nearly all the songs from Somewhere in Time, but no Wasted Years? :(
Copyrights would block the video. Sorry.
@@LeandroDelPrete I get it. It's a shame that's keeping you from making a genuine list
@@jaspergillgannon4991 Wasted Years and Alexander the Great are among my big big favourite solos of ALL rock history. I was really disappointed that exactly those two songs were blocked. Thanks for understanding bro.
Best vibrato of all time
100%
Every solos of Ady is top 😂. Next time a video 100 top solos of Adrian
I couldn't agree more. All of his solos are great!!!
The solo of the song The Duelists is marvelous! It could be in this list!
Yes! I love it too! It's so hard to do a top 10, lots of good stuff got left out.
He has some really cool moments on Losfer Words as well… and the solo for Rainbows Gold sounds totally off the cuff…
"Wasted Years" solo. 🤘
Couldn't put it there because of copyrights that would block the video entirely. Sorry about that. Wasted Years is top 2 to me and I recorded myself playing it in this channel to make amends. It's not nearly as good as the original, though!
Hard to believe nothing from The Final Frontier made it. Adrian's playing is the best thing about that album.
Actually, I made a part 2 with some other songs...please take a look, I promise it will be worth your time!
@@LeandroDelPrete nice
3:49 Love this part, happens to me but Heaven can wait :)
Agora vai ter que atualizar com TWOTW 😁🤘🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
está na parte 2!!! dá uma conferida lá!!!
A lot of these are cool revisions just because Adrian added some really fluid modal runs and a few cool flashy licks… But they still fit the song.
Adrian! WOO!
Don't forget to watch part 2!!!
you can't do a top 10 adrian smith solos and miss wasted years. fatal mistake.
Not a mistake buddy, copyrights would block my video. I wanted it to be there.
@@LeandroDelPrete Then this should be titled « Top 10 copyright-friendly solos », because Wasted Years IS way up there… goddamn copyrights…
I know man, I absolutely agree, Wasted Years is a damn classic and one of the best solos Adrian has ever written. Unfortunately RUclips doesn't care much.
Where would you rate The Trooper solo...
It's the reason I got into Maiden in the first place...🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥
It's easily top 3 if you consider how important the song is to Iron Maiden's career. But in terms of creativity and technique, I think Somewhere in Time is better than Piece of Mind. Really tough choice man, I love them all!!!
His solo in Empire Of The Clouds... OMG Mr. Smith
It's fantastic, right? Great tone from Mr. Smith. Epic song.
@@LeandroDelPrete I agree my friend. Adrian's solos are high points in absolutly every song
