"Is there a Yamcha Owned" counter?" I believe the creators of DBZA said that the only reason there isn't is because he's not in the show as much as Krillin.
The Mafuba or "Evil Containment Wave" is one of the techniques from OG Dragon Ball. It can seal a being of basically any power level inside a tiny vase or pot, but requires a lot of life force to use. It was used several times against Piccolo, including when Kami and Piccolo used it on each other. It never actually gets used in Dragon Ball Z that I can remember. However, it is brought back in Dragon Ball Super.
The hyperbolic time chamber was actually in OG Dragon Ball when Goku was a kid. The reason they didn't use it since then was that Goku barely survived and they didn't think the other Z warriors could handle it if I'm remembering correctly. Edit:All the replies I'm getting means I'm gonna have to do some research which means watching Totally Not Mark videos or finding random KaiserNekko talking points on yt
@@YukoValis Thats not quite true. yes the room is very dangerous since the door is the only way in or out but the danger comes from getting lost, accidentally destroying the door and changes in temperature and air density that can occur at a moments notice however the air does not come from the door. rather the HTC itself is actually a separate dimension that the door can access. it has its own air so the door has no influence on the HTC's air supply
So, remember when Bulma asked her mom why she never seems to age, and she responded, "Oh, your father won't let me." Yeah, this is how he keeps her from aging. TFS call him history greatest monster for a reason
You bring up a good point, cause I never thought about what actually keeps the abridged version of Dr. Briefs from going full supervillain. If I had to take a swing at it, I'd probably guess that it's the money, because it's way more practical to be an ethical monster, but not go full mad scientist and blow up the world or something like that. The idea that his wife keeps him (nominally) in check does amuse me, though. That aside, always fun to see more of these. Looking forward to more.
There is a directors cut-like channel called Team Four Star Bento, where the creators talk about the show, and they talk about how in Namek Krillin was a jerk, but in the Cell saga they wanted to expand his character. I feel like this can be seen in the last few episodes. His trip with Trunks, loyalty with his affection for 18, and what he will do for the androids coming up. Hint, its big and red.
So the Hyperbolic time chamber aka the room of spirit and time was in dragon ball. It is also a very dangerous place. The further you get from the door the less air pressure there is. You can easily get too far if you aren't careful and just pass out. It is sorta like climbing a mountain.
All of the training did actually happen in the manga, but much of it wasn't actually shown. For example, when they were training in preparation for the arrival of Nappa and Vegeta. In the anime, there were several episodes showing Goku training on King Kai's planet, Piccolo training Gohan while Gohan was trying to survive in the wilderness, and the others going through their training on Kami's Lookout. It was practically a whole season all its own of everybody getting ready. In the manga from what I recall, all of that was about a single page that was basically like, "And so they trained," and that was it. And while I never read that far into the manga, I'm under the impression that a lot of the other training sequences we see were utilized similarly.
YES! I am fully convinced Goku has been trolling everyone all the time. Uses his "dumb" remarks as distractions and plainly enjoys playing the idiot. There are multiple incidents that point that way. I know he wasn't written that way by TFS, but it just fits :D
22:06 the androids have special features of thier own where 17 can absorb any kind of ki blast and 18 i believe had an endless supply of power to launch ki blasts.
Just to put the scale of the 'kidnapping dozens of orphaned children and experimenting on them' line into perspective, back when Trunks found the schematics for 17 and 18, when the camera was focused on the paper to show their human names while Trunks was reading from it, there was also a line of text dedicated just to 'attempt 253'. The successful creation of both 17 and 18, together, was attributed as attempt 253. So he kidnapped _at least_ that many orphans. The question is, was that his 253 experiment in total? Or specifically his 253 experiment of the sort that result specifically in 17 and 18? That being super-empowered cyborgs with Perpetual Energy Machines providing them with infinite energy.
The Mafuba, AKA the "Evil Containment Wave", is used to seal beings with evil in their hearts into suitable containers. Either pots or things that have secure lids, such as rice cookers. It's practically a one hit knockout for powerful beings who can't be defeated in combat. It was used to capture and imprison Demon King Piccolo (Mr Piccolo's father), but it takes a tremendous amount of energy. Before DBZ, it killed the user more often than not due to requiring life energy. It's also not the most accurate move, and it can be countered.
the mentioning of the ninja dream ending was that naruto shippuden ended airing in america and one piece was still going. also the bulmas dad is a callback to all scientist having a basement lab. team fourstar portrayed Dr briefs as a mad scientist of sorts the call back is when they asked bulmas mom was asked why shes doesnt age and she replied your father wont let me. so the joke is that he grows clones of his wife and thats why she always seems to be so youthful in appearance. also a call back when yajirobe was eating them from the "fridge in the basement" dr briefs stated they're not even supposed to be eaten that way.
The Hyperbolic Time Chamber or Room of Spirit and Time was a thing in the Original Dragon Ball anime before Dragon ball Z........Goku used it as a child to train, but the room requires the person have a generous amount of Ki and also be able to withstand intense Gravity and temperature.....also it can only be used for 2 days maximum.....after that it can possibly trap the person forever...
When I see your reactions, I always feel like you just had a big day at work or was out for a night out and came back home to record these reactions for some reason :))
Goku can say complex words as long as they're wrong. If he were faced with a diabetic, he'd be able to talk about their hyperbolic time chamber, and unable to say hyper fly cement. Er, I mean...
So basically, the piccolo we are watching in DBZ is the cloned son of a guy called Demon King piccolo from the original dragon Ball. That guy was made when Kami came to Earth some 500 years before as a singular, unnamed namekian(the son of katas). When he got to earth, he was exposed to a lot of evil and war that he'd never seen on Namek, so he expelled all the evil he'd seen into a separate body, which became demon King piccolo. Before Goku killed him, he basically spat out an egg that became piccolo Junior-the one we're familiar with now. When he was still in the egg, he was basically brainwashed into being evil and getting revenge by his father's and turned into a kind of reincarnation for his father. So he's very familiar with what 17 was describing. I may not be 100% accurate with all this, but it should be mostly correct. Fun fact: most characters is dragon Ball don't actually have a last name, and Bulma is technically one of them, though people tend to give her her father's name as her last name.
To be clear: in the original show, Dr. Briefs is generally cool dude who is very helpful and generally very kind and understanding. However, in DBZ Abridged, they decided to basically make him a racist, sexist, xenophobic mad scientist because they thought it would be funnier. And to be fair, it very much was.
Don't overthink how Cell is eating people...😂 The Mafuba - "Spirit Containment Wave" - is a technique Roshi knows that traps an evil being in a pot. In a universe where bad guys regularly blow up planets for funsies, DBZA's Dr Briefs may be the most evil character in the series.
6:38 i mean, the first time he didn't get it, for sure, the fundaments of the relationship are absolutely sketchy in the grounds of concent, being charitable it's perfectly in character for newlywed goku to ask chichi what is sex and why she wants to have it, but you know it's still weird that he's accepting to do things he doesn't have a full grasp on after they've been explained to him? Not by this point tho, here he knows how it be And it's not even that chichi is on a advantageous spot either, it's sad for everyone involved, in dragon ball super they stated that in like 20 years of marriage and 2 kids that they had never kissed, which they intended it to be comedy but it's just sad for everyone involved (also ridiculous, with the way chichi was when they got married there's no way they didn't kiss at least once, which is why everyone collectively chose to simply ignore it and the only way for it to be okay for goku is for him to be an incredibly specific brand of sex neutral ace that likes hugs and cuddling but not kissing and has sex for the expresss purpose of doing chichi a solid, which i can see that, but knowing chichi that would be unfulfilling for her? Since you'd get the sense that she would like it to also be special for her husband Rather than it just being like a favor thing? Perhaps that's why she switched to be focused almost exclusively at being a mother after they had gohan?)
So with the anime and manga Basically there’s inconsistencies over time due to Akira Toriyama simply forgetting things. Also with the anime there are regional differences and in some cases music changes, character name changes, liberties with the translations, etc. The fake Namek thing was anime only. The Garlic Jr saga was anime only. Big Green is actually what Piccolo is called in the Big Green dub, for example. In the Speedy dub they call the Saiyans the Saiya people.
Part of DBZ's confusing passage of time is cause Akira Toriyama hated drawing night scenes, It's why Namak had three suns so he wouldn't have to draw a night scene.
Every new villain in DBZ is significantly stronger than the last so they always need to find a way to power up the heroes so they can keep up with and eventually overpower the most recent threat. Goku had to sacrifice himself to allow Piccolo to beat Radditz but Vegeta and Nappa were now on their way and were much stronger so they (Toriyama) put 1 year on the clock and let Goku train in the afterlife. After Vegeta is barely beaten by the surviving heroes there was Namek so Goku gets to train on his way there on the spaceship and they introduce the zenkai boost where saiyans gain strength by healing from significant injuries, etc.
tbf about the clothes still being on the rides, i do believe cell can work that fast. We aare beyond super saiyan at this point, he's definitely at least light speed.
I will say, while it's probably better to watch the specials in the order they came out in conjunction with the episodes, I would watch the Broly movie before watching episode 57.

the supposed HTC room in OG dragon ball is a different room that functions in a completely different way. it was only in filler episodes and not present in the original manga at all. the idea that those OG episodes featured the HTC is a fan made retcon and.
@@butchebk01 It's basically people trying to fill in the gaps. Since Goku states that he trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber as a kid, and we saw him use the Room of Spirit and Time, the logical conclusion is that the two are one in the same, and that their functions were just changed at some point. Especially since we've seen other examples of that sort of thing happen throughout the series. Like how Senzu Beans went from beans that simply restore your stamina while keeping you full for ten days, into things that can instantly heal just about any wound.
Goku is a bit of an idiot(both in this and canon, having hit his head as a child, so he’s probably got some brain damage from that), but he does understand some relationship dynamics. That’s played for comedy here, but he genuinely cares for Chi-Chi and Gohan, and surely his instincts take over when it comes to time between the sheets with her
~Concerning the Fat Man (Yajirobi) eating the clones in the basement: "How were they made to be eaten?" Out. They were made to be eaten out. You know, in the cooter.
It's such a great line that I don't think would be as funny had anybody else said it. Like, if somebody such as Krillin or Yamcha said that, I wouldn't bat an eye. But when Piccolo says it, suddenly it's funny.
I’m a little late, but no, the androids are not indestructible. In fact, if that attack had landed, then piccolo would have killed 17. 17 simply put up a ki barrier, one of his unique powers
Btw, Yajirobe isn't saying "awesome" to Bulma as a sexual thing, he's saying it cause a joke in the abridged is that an all sensu bean diet allows him to produce milk that way (or something along those lines) 😭 still a joke that's a little out there but figured I'd clarify cause not a lot of ppl get that the first watch
I've always got the Senzu Bean joke being based on soy beans reportedly having a similar effect on men who eat too many of them, but I really don't get how that would be related to Yajirobe's remark about Bulma's breast feeding.
@@gurvmlk he says he can produce milk to Bulma earlier in the car, he's say if "awesome" cause he thinks it's cool and he's being supportive. Cause I think yajirobe and korin do eventually want kids (in the abridged ofc). It's not meant to be that deep, it's just a running joke that becomes a small side plot in the movies
I'd like to point out Krillin saw A18 as a 9 without even knowing if they could have sex. He would have started a relationship with her even if it was sexless. It isn't gross when you think of it, ans the creator commentary reveals it was very much intentional.
yje pot joke is referring to a move roshi uses on piccolo's dad in dragon ball. the move allowed him to seal a person in a rice cooker. the dub refereed to the rice cooker as an electric jar. here is a clip of him using it ruclips.net/video/qKwrrTQc6_M/видео.html
dbz wiki for saiyan saga speed. In the manga, there is no official time it took Goku to get back to Earth after being wished back during the battle with the Saiyans, but King Kai estimated it would take two days. Considering this two-day estimate, if Snake Way was a million kilometers, Goku traveled at about 20,830 kilometers per hour (13,018 miles per hour) in order to travel in 48 hours. However, Snake Way is winding, whereas on the return trip Goku is seen flying in a straight line over the top of Snake Way. We can simplify it to 10000 MPH given the winding snake path. This is power level like 10000 or so, they're in the millions if not billions at this point. Very fast. Extremely fast. Faster than blinking fast. Literally unfathomable.
Heck, they were shown as being capable of moving at speeds impossible for the human eye to follow way back when Krillin fought Jackie Chun during the very first World Martial Arts Tournament.
@gurvmlk yea, but that's not really measurable. I went with what I knew as far back as I knew it. Gokus speed is nuts. Imagine people thinking other animes stand a chance lol
@@DevilWearsAdidas True. Not to mention that it's kind of hard to account for the original Dragon Ball at face value when it comes to that sort of stuff, since certain feats were highly exaggerated compared to DBZ because it was just a different show back then. Not to mention making the characters ridiculously strong without any foresight into how that might translate into how strong they'll become later.
@@gurvmlk I saw an interesting video or post about how the power levels arent actually even bullshit, too. It had to do with some technical term of units of power or something. A lot of the stuff people complain about in DBZ isn't actually even a thing. Like for example, when talking about speed, often people say that one punch man is faster because of the whole moon thing, but that's just inherently not even true. The argument is that goku isn't going a speed, he's teleporting. But that's simply not even true. He literally says in the bruce faulconer version (at least, that I know of) that the speed that he travels is 186 thousand miles per second. The estimation of one punch man is 156k per second. They're close but goku's faster by about 30 thousand miles per second. Any argument that people have against dbz is generally thanks to tfs for making the show look dumber and less thought out than it actually is, and that's mostly the reason why you'd want to sue someone (and why tfs went through a lot of legal trouble) for dubbing over your show.
@@DevilWearsAdidas For me, the problem with power levels is that they tend to just kind of do things for the sake of whatever the plot needs. It's like, yes. You can do the math to explain why Piccolo became as strong as second form Frieza after fusing with Nail. But aside from the story just deciding that those numbers needed to be that for the sake of Piccolo being able to fight second form Frieza, the sheer magnitude of that power amplification comes off as ludicrous. Just as one example.
The "Now bow." line is one of the coldest deliveries in this series and it never fails to put a grin on my face.

Goku’s “eat that horse” speech at 9:02 is one of MasakoX’s two favorite lines he says.
The hyperbolic time chamber was actually in OG Dragon Ball when Goku was a kid. The reason they didn't use it since then was that Goku barely survived and they didn't think the other Z warriors could handle it if I'm remembering correctly.
Edit:All the replies I'm getting means I'm gonna have to do some research which means watching Totally Not Mark videos or finding random KaiserNekko talking points on yt
the episodes you are referring to were filler and did not feature the HTC but a room with similar but not the same functions.
it was and the room is really dangerous. Since the door is the only air source if you go to far it is like climbing a mountain to your body.
It didn't appear in Dragon Ball. That was a retcon.
That was Prof. Brief's sublab.. where he keeps the clones of his wife lmao cause he "Won't let her age." 🤣
Omg yes. Getting close to my favourite moment in the series. Advanced GEOMETRY !
Also TFS wrote Dr Briefs to be the biggest Monster in the show
2:45 my logic is he killed all the riders first, then went for the operator and the controls got bumped in the process.
So, remember when Bulma asked her mom why she never seems to age, and she responded, "Oh, your father won't let me."
Yeah, this is how he keeps her from aging. TFS call him history greatest monster for a reason
"What's a Kami?" "It means God now bow" I wish that whole thing was in the actual show. Great line by Piccolo!
This almost came out on piccolo day (the day piccolo sr became king of the world after overthrowing the previous king, who is a dog)
Looking forward to more.
because he has what he wants so be greatful
There is a directors cut-like channel called Team Four Star Bento, where the creators talk about the show, and they talk about how in Namek Krillin was a jerk, but in the Cell saga they wanted to expand his character. I feel like this can be seen in the last few episodes. His trip with Trunks, loyalty with his affection for 18, and what he will do for the androids coming up. Hint, its big and red.
“It means god, now bow.” is probably my favourite line in the whole series. It goes so hard.
In this show all scientists are evil Burma’s dad included. Burma escapes because she’s more of an adventurer who dabbles
So the Hyperbolic time chamber aka the room of spirit and time was in dragon ball. It is also a very dangerous place. The further you get from the door the less air pressure there is. You can easily get too far if you aren't careful and just pass out. It is sorta like climbing a mountain.
"It means god, now bow."
Best one liner I have heard in a long time.
We’re all happy you appreciated Piccolo’s line: “It means God, now bow.”
Actually that was 19 and gero 17 and 18 were just infinite energy models but 17 had a barrier technique that he used quite frequently
16:06 ngl You were pretty cute doing that
the mentioning of the ninja dream ending was that naruto shippuden ended airing in america and one piece was still going. also the bulmas dad is a callback to all scientist having a basement lab. team fourstar portrayed Dr briefs as a mad scientist of sorts the call back is when they asked bulmas mom was asked why shes doesnt age and she replied your father wont let me. so the joke is that he grows clones of his wife and thats why she always seems to be so youthful in appearance. also a call back when yajirobe was eating them from the "fridge in the basement" dr briefs stated they're not even supposed to be eaten that way.
Cell can fly faster than the speed of sound, so he could've drank people at any point of that ride.
In fairness, the Time Chamber existed before this
Toriyama just forgets about stuff....like a lot
Imagine how different Dragon Ball would've been as a whole if Toriyama had a photographic memory.
21:00 Bold of you to assume Bulma's mom has free will...
21:05-21:12
Clipped.
Don't overthink how Cell is eating people...😂
The Mafuba - "Spirit Containment Wave" - is a technique Roshi knows that traps an evil being in a pot.
Not by this point tho, here he knows how it be
And it's not even that chichi is on a advantageous spot either, it's sad for everyone involved, in dragon ball super they stated that in like 20 years of marriage and 2 kids that they had never kissed, which they intended it to be comedy but it's just sad for everyone involved (also ridiculous, with the way chichi was when they got married there's no way they didn't kiss at least once, which is why everyone collectively chose to simply ignore it and the only way for it to be okay for goku is for him to be an incredibly specific brand of sex neutral ace that likes hugs and cuddling but not kissing and has sex for the expresss purpose of doing chichi a solid, which i can see that, but knowing chichi that would be unfulfilling for her? Since you'd get the sense that she would like it to also be special for her husband Rather than it just being like a favor thing? Perhaps that's why she switched to be focused almost exclusively at being a mother after they had gohan?)
“Vegeta and Trunks have to bond.” Hahaha!
Goku learned the Instant Transmission on Yardrat. He used it when Future Trunks first appeared and killed Cyborg Freeza.
So with the anime and manga
Basically there’s inconsistencies over time due to Akira Toriyama simply forgetting things.
Much like Guru and Mr Popo, original Dr Briefs is perfectly nice and harmless, it's just TeamFourStar who made them twisted for comedy.
Not an unintentional *****man pose 21:40 😂 👌
21:09 Hot damn, that made me lose my sh!t 🤣
Yeah, Piccolo definitely went Kami mode there.
19:31 One on the coldest lines in the series. In my top 5!
Trunks needs to queue up some Pet Shop Boys.
The weirdest tangents 😂
21:07 i am so downloading that and turning it into a meme for twitter lol.
It’s my head Canon that in the TFS storyline Dr. briefs is responsible for android 21
Yesterday was Piccolo day btw (may 9th in the original may 13th in the dub)
tbf about the clothes still being on the rides, i do believe cell can work that fast. We aare beyond super saiyan at this point, he's definitely at least light speed.
I only clicked like after you corrected from "Mr. Piccolo to Mr. Popo."
I will say, while it's probably better to watch the specials in the order they came out in conjunction with the episodes, I would watch the Broly movie before watching episode 57.
Now that I think about it yelling dodge really can be more distracting than helpful. You need more info like, which way do I dodge?😂
Now is a great time to watch both Cooler movies
You could say chi chi was on *FIRE* 🤣🤣
That last part, in case you were wondering, was a joke on him talking about Bulma's clones earlier in the episode.
*Panchy clones
@cthrion_uroniziir lol I meant to type "Bulma's mother's clones".... and now I know what her name is. Thanks😊
@@justmadgamers9724 no problem, fun fact: her original name is 'bikini'
@cthrion_uroniziir in the dub? Or sub? Given that this used to be on toonami, I couldn't imagine the name "bikini" would fly here when dubbed. Either way, very interesting stuff
@@justmadgamers9724 not sure just got told about it once and then confirmed it by looking it up on the wiki. but yeah bikini would not fly in the US, they did change bullas name too who originally was called 'bra'
I love that krillin considered Eighteen a 9 when he thought she didn't have a vagina.
It's her eyes
Well, if she was a regualr human he wouldn't even be thinking about it.
If you want a name for Bulma's mom, she's named Paunchy
When he said there not to be eaten jn that way basicly yajirobi was eating the clones and bulmas dad ment they wernt ment eaten out not literally eaten wild episode lmao
The chambers been known since Dragon Ball they just didn't use it
the supposed HTC room in OG dragon ball is a different room that functions in a completely different way. it was only in filler episodes and not present in the original manga at all. the idea that those OG episodes featured the HTC is a fan made retcon and.
21:08 That happened.
Goku is a bit of an idiot(both in this and canon, having hit his head as a child, so he’s probably got some brain damage from that), but he does understand some relationship dynamics. That’s played for comedy here, but he genuinely cares for Chi-Chi and Gohan, and surely his instincts take over when it comes to time between the sheets with her
You’ll need to watch OG Dragon Ball to understand the joke about Roshi having pot and the Mafuba
~Concerning the Fat Man (Yajirobi) eating the clones in the basement:
"How were they made to be eaten?"
Out. They were made to be eaten out.
You know, in the cooter.
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PLACE OF FUN!
It's such a great line that I don't think would be as funny had anybody else said it. Like, if somebody such as Krillin or Yamcha said that, I wouldn't bat an eye. But when Piccolo says it, suddenly it's funny.
This was fun. Thanks :)
It's fun watching you hypothesize.
I’m a little late, but no, the androids are not indestructible. In fact, if that attack had landed, then piccolo would have killed 17. 17 simply put up a ki barrier, one of his unique powers
20:41 he's just a billionaire (so yeah, evil)
The chamber wasn't just some made up thing they explained it
Btw, Yajirobe isn't saying "awesome" to Bulma as a sexual thing, he's saying it cause a joke in the abridged is that an all sensu bean diet allows him to produce milk that way (or something along those lines) 😭 still a joke that's a little out there but figured I'd clarify cause not a lot of ppl get that the first watch
Happy to see you Lauren...lol❤
How are they suppose to be eaten? Personally I’m in favor of spelling your name while eating it adds a personal touch.
So when is 21:08 going to be a short?
