For the record: in the original series, Goku wasn't at risk of heart failure due to cholesterol, he was infected with a virus that attacked his heart. However, the idea of Goku dying from bacon overdose is much funnier, so that's what they went with.
With how much saiyans eat nonstop I'm surprised there was never a potential risk of diabetes in the entire history of the race.

Also Goku survived Namek. He couldn't get Freeza's ship to fly but was able to get one of the Ginyu Force's pods to work and that's what he actually used to get to Yardrat.

I always find it really sweet how Goku reminds Yamcha they are friends. And it works, too.
The filler episode of Goku and Piccolo getting told by Chichi to go get their driver's license is one of the funniest one.
Dragon ball filler as a franchise is peak. Even super. The baseball episode? Bruh. You cant watch super and skip it. Missing a crucial ep

Your reactions to Krillin thus far have been reasonable, hes written as sort of a creepy jerkass in the abridged series for seasons 1 and 2 (the writers outright admit it was a crutch because "character being mean equals funny") but in this season they really find what they want to do with Krillin and he starts being WAY more generally likeable.

You are correct, that was a Malcom in the Middle reference. Team Four Star confirmed that in their commentary for this episode.
So, I want to preface this story real quick. The folks at Team Four Star really are like a found family, and likely always will be. That being said, from what I heard from a recorded TFS convention panel, when Megami33, the VA for Bulma, got into the recording session for The Conception of Trunks scene, she was asking KaiserNeko, the director/editor for the show/Trunks' VA, where Vegeta's VA, Lanipator, was. She apparently thought the two of them were going to be recording the scene together, and that flustered Kaiser to no end. Paraphrasing, "I'm already going to be recording and editing two of my best friends making sex noises, I can't do it in real time."

In the actual show, Goku has a heart virus that kills him in Trunk's timeline before the Androids appear. The medicine was for that.
Also Goku survived Namek by finding one of the Ginyu Force's space pods and escaped on that.
Trunks made a quick cameo in episode 18 when Vegeta scream broke the space time barrier.
Remember at the beginning of the show when Piccolo wanted to kill Goku? And now they're best buddies.
That's how Goku met all of his friends

So the actual way Goku survived. Goku attempted to use Frieza's ship to escape. But the ship was so damaged that it wouldn't start and fell into broiling magma. So in a panic Goku managed to find one of the Ginyu's ships and launched himself to the nearest habitable world before Namek exploded. He landed on Yardrat who, luckily, were a kind species. They nursed him back to health, repaired his ship, taught him the Instant Transmission, and sent him back to Earth.
To nit pick the planet that Goku arrived was the next target of the Ginyu's if I remember correctly. xD

Protecting his heart was exactly what Goku was trying to do at the 31 minute mark. He didn't forget what Trunks said.

Most things have already been said by others in the comments, namely Goku's ship and the heart virus (which was cured by Bulma in the future), but some things to note:
Yamcha didn't commit suicide in the original story. He dies alongside the Z fighters who were killed by the Androids.
In the original, Goku did not eat sick aliens to learn to teleport (aka Instant Transmission). He spent a year training on Yardrat as the species possessed mystic abilities, but all Goku could learn in a year was Instant Transmission.
Also idk if it was made clear, but Goku's outfit was something the Yardratians gave him since his clothes were in tatters. There's a funny exchange in the original show where Vegeta gets a laugh out of how wacky the outfit is and Goku responds back with "Yea, but at least it's not pink!"
And yes, Frieza is dead and will be for the remainder of DBZA, but we'll see him again in some way shape or form

So Yamcha doesn't really kill himself in the og, they just went there. He dies like the rest to the androids.
As for Frieza, that is the end of him alive in the abridged series, if I remember correctly. He goes to earths hell, think we might see him there? I know he breaks out in a movie. He's also a major player in Dragon Ball Super.

Which in an the alt/original for this abridged scene (I forget which), it had Puar (the talking cat) shapeshift into the rope. And ask "can I change back yet?"
Goku is an incredible father, dbz literally opens up with him going for a walk with Gohan & that clearly isn't the first time he spent valuable time with Gohan since we see family photos of Goku always eating with them or going on picknics. Goku always showed love and always encourages Gohan's power. Goku being a bad father came from the vegeta fanatics that wanted goku to just be as bad as him. Goku has flaws but being a bad father isn't one of them and sadly the casual fans watching TFS believe this lie.
You'll keep hearing Piccolo is a better father meanwhile people seem to forget picoolo starved gohan as a little child and abanoned him the wilderness to train gohan for grown saiyan adults lol. Is Goku perfect? no but a bad father? Is a huge stretch, i can't say anymore becuase it would be spoilers but please don't fall for the same hivemind goku haters lol I'm a Goku stan, can't help it lol but it's true

@ChicagoReacts to be fair, Goku saves Gohan just as much, even in the parody (up to the point that you've watched). It's just always undercut by his idiotic parody portrayal.
If you remember back to the episode where Vegeta's rage broke, they cut to a scene with Trunks getting ready with the time machine, and he heard Vegeta's scream, and he says, "Daddy?"
So, in the original version of the joke, Puar asks if she can stop being the rope.
Also, the heart attack is real depending on who did the dubbing. The original cause is explained that Goku was infected woth a power absorbing/life sucking nano bot that grew more powerful when he would Super Saiyan and Koiken until it eventually over took his power level and killed him... The pills were to either help him recover from the heart attack or kill the nanobots depending on canon
Now you know why Trunks was screaming internally when Bulma was hitting on him 😂
Just so you know Bulma's family has Theam naming going on. They are all named after underwear. her father is name Dr briefs, she has a sister named Tights, her name is pronounced Burma (blooma aka Bloomers) in japanesse and her kids are Trunks and Bulla (Bra)

Son Goku's name in Journey to the West is Sun Wukong, the Monkey King who was punished by the gods for stealing fruit from the peach tree by slapping a circlet around his head. Whenever he gets out of line, the circlet tightens which induces a headache. He also had pole that extends and he rode on a cloud sometimes.
The general consensus is frieza dad was as strong as him or slighty stronger

It was a Malcolm in the Middle reference, and it wasn’t just some random line they pulled outta nowhere. Back when the episode came out Malcolm in the Middle had only been out on streaming services for less than 2 years or so, so people were getting back into the show, and of course, making memes out of funny scenes. This one with Dewey is of the more popular ones people used, another being Dewey’s “The future is now, old man.”

Didn't realize you were watching htis series when I started watching the channel, always LOVE watching people's first blush reactions to DBZA and Dragonball in general. Also, I LOVE that you referenced Cable in comparison to Trunks, it's so perfect.
I think with King Cold he's a peg beneath his sons, but still probably strong in backstory. Hence why he didn't bother transforming, he's already shafted and he knows it.
The scene of Yamcha hanging, the creators said they planned a darker version by making Puar, who is Yamcha's friend, be the rope. He was suppose to say "Yamcha, can I stop being the rope now?“

Abridged is basically cannon for me now.. this whole thing was a masterpiece.. and you see how much better it gets from the beginning… cell saga was incredible
It will never stop breaking my brain that the VA for Bulma Abridged was also the VA for Usagi in Sailor Moon Abridged. So... in a way we just had Star Balls made cannon. And if you don't know what that is don't curse yourself by looking it up.
Even though this is a dub, I'm really satisfied with your reactions, like you do pay attention to everything going on, and have that genuine idea of knowing absolutely nothing about the show and don't know what's gonna happen next, I'm really digging your content being a big fan of the show as well as the TFS DBZA series
The fun thing is in the manga, Vegeta never encountered Goku after he turned super Saiyan, so when both Trunks and Goku were both in the form, that’s why they were able to do the comparison.
About Vegeta and Bulma's relationship, and this is canon, sayans feel attracted to women with big temper.

In the original series, they do get together, in fact Vegeta becomes very protective of Bulma. But that’s a story for another time

Believe it or not there’s an alternate version of that Yamaha joke that’s even darker. There’s a video on their channel called DBZA alternate takes and in it while Yamaha is hanging Puar says “Yamaha can I stop being the rope now?” Yeah just when you think it couldn’t get any darker

EDIT: I forgot to add this before, but the best part about the Dalek reference in 33 is that the VA they got for Freeza is a natural born Brit. Who was absolutely ecstatic to have that line. :3
EDIT 2, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: Another thing: in the English dub, Chi-Chi is never really given a reason why she's so overprotective of Gohan like she is, so most fans just saw her like the mom from Malcolm in the Middle; just kind of a bitch for no reason. In a later episode, TFS actually gave her a wonderful valid reason for why she's like that, and it's fantastic.

If it makes you feel any better Vegeta and Bulma are the best couple by far and yes Vegeta does grow to love her immensely. In the show when Vegeta gets seriously wounded through his training bulma brings him in for medical care and watches over him while he's recuperating. Even sleeping at the desk while he's laying in bed. It's implied that they get closer over time and not just a quick fling. It has its low points at times sinceVegetaa need to be the best and eclipse Goku causes friction but by the end of Z and into Super most fans would agree it's clear Vegeta truly cares for Bulma and they probably have the strongest relationship.

Goku survived Namek by using one of the Ginyu forces pods at the last minute as the planet was collapsing which had already been programed to go to Yardat so the Ginyu force could invade them next. Goku then crashed on Yardrat then decided to stay to train to learn Instant Transmission.
His mother hit on him, and the best part is that it happened in the series too, not just the Abridged.😆 Trunks: "God damn it, that fked me up more than the androids!😨"

In the original, Goku died of a virus that gave him a heart attack, but Trunks brought medication back from the future. The thing I recently learned is, you know how Goku was raised by a kindly old man named Gohan, who died when Goku went on a giant ape rampage? Turns out that he actually died of that same virus.
Since you asked about the shirt and somehow I don’t see anyone else saying it, apparently it used to be Yamcha’s. Which, considering what it says in Abridged, does bring up some interesting questions about his and Bulma’s relationship…
So they don’t go into it in the abridged series but Saiyan males are usually attracted to strong willed women. And with Chi Chi and Bulma’s personality, it isn’t too far off.

In another channel, TFS Bento, Lanipator, and KaiserNeko, two of the three creators of the series, talk about how that is a Malcolm in the Middle reference. The channel is a directors cut of DBZA, so if you want more of that, I recommend going there.
In the actual series, Vegeta and Bulma relationship starts when she is nursing him after an accident in his training, and he is crying in his sleep because of how he hates his inferiority to Goku. That's where it starts, but we don't really see it grow until the end of this saga, and through the next.
Hilariously, Vegeta and Bulma have one of the healthiest relationships in the show.
Fun Fact: Reason why Goku is a terrible, terrible dad is that Saiyans don't really have a concept of love or parenthood normally. They hook up purely for reproductive reasons, so Goku sees Chi-Chi and Gohan more as extremely close friends rather than family. Not his fault, it's just how Saiyans see relationships.

DBZA is my favourite dub of DBZ. TFS crushed it with their version. Especially Lanipator (Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin, Master Rishi, and Mr. Popo).
Nick is great, but I think they all reached great performances from this season on. Legit Lawrence is my favorite Goku & Gohan VA, Megami33 nails it with Bulma this season (finally an arc where Bulma can legit take center stage again) and Hnilmik does a great VA for the 'The beautiful woman who lives in Goku's house'. And as much as he doubted it himself before, Scott is THE BEST TRUNKS VA out there.
And lets not forget the 3 roles played by Curtis: culminates in the perfect being that 'Is hilarious and you will quote everything he says'.

You need to watch the actual show. Vegeta and Bulma not only end up together, raising Trunks together, but Vegeta actually admits he loves them.

From what we know, Freeza's Dad is about as strong as he is.
The only issue is we don't know if he has alternate forms, so either what we see is it, or he's on his second form.
