I know parents can kidnap their children if they've been denied custody, but can custody-holding parents kidnap their own children? If so, how does that work and at what point does it become kidnapping?

@@devonm042690 Divorced parents can share custody but one parent can still want to get the kids away from the other parent. In extreme cases the parent takes the kids to an different country where they more rules so they don't have to share the custody.
The best way to understand Goku is to remember that fighting is his love language. Vegeta wants to kill him and he calls him "best buddy."

that part where vegeta said “sure you can” is a play on words. the uppercut he did right after looked like the shoryuken, a move from street fighter. the street fighter references continue from there

Blue was actually Goku's original color! He wore blue when we first met him as a kid. His iconic orange didn't come around until he started studying under Roshi.
I believe Goku's original outfit was purple, then blue came during GT.
@gurvmlk looking at some images of the OG anime, it's definitely somewhere between blue and purple. GT is between blue and cyan.
@@gurvmlk The bigger difference in the GT outfit is the pants. The Dragon Ball outfit was a full blue gi. The GT outfit is beige pants with a blue flowing shirt that resembles the gi top.

Which you can actually see with his energy aura. Generally speaking, a person's natural energy aura is white, save for a few villains (hence why Vegeta is the only hero to have a naturally blue aura instead of white). However, Cell's energy aura is gold, which is otherwise exclusive to super saiyans.

@@Dima-ug7zo It's not head canon. It's aesthetic consistency. He has a golden aura, and the golden aura is exclusive to super saiyans. So it stands to reason that his body contains DNA taken from a super saiyan, resulting in that golden aura. Most likely either Goku or Trunks during the battle against Mecha Frieza, depending on the timeline.

@@Dima-ug7zo A solid point, but Golden Frieza also has the same golden aesthetic as a super saiyan. Meaning how the power-up affects the body is probably similar. Whereas the only place Cell could've gotten a golden aura was from the super saiyans at the time. Otherwise his aura would've been either white, purple, or blue to match his genetics. Everything else about his character is fit to match those of his cells. There's no reason to assume his energy aura is any different.
You'll find out in the next episode why Trunks was freaking out at the end. 🤣

The way I've always understood Gohan not turning super saiyan when Krillin died... well he was five! He was much more scared than angry haha
Yeah, even though we've seen gohan rage against freeza at least 3 times. It's more surprising he didn't charge freeza after piccolo got hit in the chest.

Heh, we've still got a bit for that.
Cell is already a Super Saiyan. In his first form, he was a Super Saiyan when he beat Piccolo and fought #16. He reverted to his base form when he absorbed #17, so it was his second form's base power that instantly outclassed #16. While fighting Vegeta, Cell turned Super Saiyan after taking the first few hits and it wasn't even enough to make Vegeta react meaningfully. He's as strong as he can be without absorbing #18 while getting beaten into the dirt at the end of episode 50.
21:30 Galick Gun was to Vegeta what Kamehameha is to Goku - signature beam attack. This is Cell using his own attack against him. Of course, this beam attack being Vegeta's signature move changes very soon to a new one he uses against Cell. I won't give it away but just listen closely next time Vegeta uses a named beam attack against Cell!

In the actual series Cell was holding back with his island-destroying blasts, using the information absorbing #17 gave him about him and #18 so as to use just enough power that if #18 was caught in the blast, she'd be damaged and weakened but alive when the island she was on exploded. Funnily enough though, the way TFS wrote it Cell wasn't doing that. He just completely lost his patience and decided to wipe out the entire archipelago hoping to flush #18 out of hiding by making her panic. When she didn't flee, he accepted killing #18 as an outcome to his tirade, thinking it possible he might have already killed her and just deciding to finish wiping out the island chain. Hence, 'in for a penny'.

Trunks freaked out at the end of 50 because Cell is absolutely playing Vegeta. Vegeta's pride/ego is such that if you say he'd lose a fight, he'll let you do anything just to prove you wrong...often with expected consequences. But that does lead us to the ultimate peak Vegeta reaches in the show, which you'll see when you watch episodes 51 and 52. TFS even remade the original music used for that scene, which makes it so much more powerful.

I've always wondered if the Tom who speaks to Cell in this episode is supposed to be the same Tom that Piccolo had friended on his social media back during the first couple episodes.
And don't worry. I was also very bothered by Goku's look in the armor when I first saw it. I've seen it enough to not be bothered by it anymore, but back when I first saw it, it just looked wrong.
It actually is the same Tom, Scott confirmed it in their commentary on the episode

In the manga, Cell even injects an acid + nutrient mixture into a person's body, which liquefies everything, including the bones, and then drinks them, just like a spider would do.
Piccolo kidnapped Gohan when he was 2 years old to start training him to dodge. He's almost 10 now, he should hopefully have muscles after spending his entire childhood fighting like this lol
I can't wait to see the 51/52 reaction. There are some absolute fire moments in those episodes.

Edit: Also Gohan simply wasn't strong enough to turn SSJ at this point. He trained a whole year with Piccolo and Goku before the Androids attacked.

Any time someone acts outside of a child custody agreement without probable cause, it could be considered kidnapping. Gohan's situation is actually kind of tricky. Both parents have equal custody since there's never been a court order involved. She agreed to letting Goku take him. Gohan is doing it under some degree of duress, but it's because the fate of the world is at stake. Not to mention it's only 24hrs in real time. Fortunately, it's a fictional world, and no judge or lawyer has to actually deal with it.

Cell was saying he would beat Vegeta if he was allowed to he perfect, and Vegeta is becoming interested in proving him wrong. Trunks knows they can't allow him to become perfect though, and is upset because he sees Cell's plan to allow him to do it is starting to work.

26:12 - Cell took that one moment of weakness in Vegeta and exploited it fully. Trunks gets freaked out because Vegeta is a Saiyan and Trunks knows Vegeta wants to fight strong opponents. Vegeta's ego is even stronger than Vegeta's common sense.

yeah some epsiodes are losing more and more audio to dmca which sucks.
There are other places to find full audio versions for you yourself to enjoy, but I'm guessing reacting to the scenes including the original audio will get you struck as well.

Betcha a nickel that blue looks weird on Goku because it's the chromatic opposite of orange.
You can't kidnap your own kid if the parents are still together which Goku and Chi-chi are. It's only kidnapping if the parents have split and one has taken the kid away from the others custody.
My grandma technically kidnapped my dad and his two brothers, but she had very good reason to GTFO from that situation. Grampa was a bit of a monster.

i honestly forgot that I set my membership specifically while watching this series and had the biggest twist of my head when I heard my acount name LMFAO
Gohan neither had the physical block nor the mental block at the time. Goku was already physically strong, but the reality that krillin was gone for good, because he already died once and came back to earth dragon balls, and the namekian dragon balls turned to stone because guru died. He was already tapped out, and couldn't save his friend from frieza. That failure was his mental block that pushed goku over the edge and it gave him his super saiyan.
Vegita really gets the love he deserves in this fight.

The thing about Cell is, he has Vegeta and Frieza's DNA, alongside Goku's. He inherited personality traits from every major source of his genetic composition.
Underestimating his opponent is a very Vegeta thing to do, while the Goku in him, and the Vegeta to an extent, makes him want a good fight so he can test his limits. But when he starts to lose, the Frieza kicks in, and he refuses to accept that anyone can be stronger than him.
Basically, Cell's greatest strength is the combination of personality traits making him a prodigy in battle, but it's a double edged sword, because it comes with the negative traits that cause him to have a very powerful, but equally fragile, ego.
But he's even more unstable than Frieza. Frieza, even when he was being overpowered, never made the mistake of powering up so much that his movement becomes sloppy
@@somerandomnon-importantper3219 Frieza did power up so much he was burning through his ki at a very accelerated rate, though, and he did that because he realized he was losing. Whenever a DBZ villain starts to lose, if they don't have a transformation to fall back on, or if they're not holding back most of their power, they basically go into the mindset of "how DARE you be stronger than me" and do something foolish, or they try to blow up the planet. Sometimes both.
@@lordgenerias Frieza and Cell made different mistakes though. Cell straight up buffed himself up so much that he could never land a single blow.
Frieza on the other hand powered up to his absolute limits but not beyond that. While this did drain a lot of his energy, it only did so as time passed. At the very beginning of the fight, he was giving Goku a lot of trouble
@@somerandomnon-importantper3219 True. But even though the mistakes are different, they were made for the same reason. They attempted to use brute force when they realized they were no longer dominating the fight.
@@lordgenerias The point I'm trying to make is that Frieza's effort did work early on while Cell's couldn't work at all. Frieza only started failing because the fight dragged on
